Anthony's point of view

Roses are red. Violets are blue. Something about Vanessa in a black gown with the highest of slit had a way of making me forget my words.

"Cat got your tongue," Vanessa teased me, her lips turned up in the biggest of smiles.

I did not know who she had called to help her out with her makeup but that person had done extraordinarily well.

I brought my hand forward and she placed her hand into it, my eyes never left hers as I raised it towards my lips for a kiss.

"It's not everyday I get a date with a beautiful woman," I said.

"And not everyday you say hello to that beautiful woman's sister," Someone said.

I turned around and there she stood, close to the couch with a glass of red wine in her right hand. Vanessa and Victoria looked similar enough for you to guess they were sisters but that was where the similarities ended.

While Victoria was the tough, don't look at me and don't touch my things elder sister, Vanessa took the soft approach to life.

Anthony's point of viewI knew from the murderous look the owner gave to me that I made him lose some money, plus he probably knew what we had to do that made us late."The best view in all my restaurants and the most private too," He said. The view was breathtaking no doubt, the table and chairs at the middle, a jacuzzi at the other end looking incredibly tempting, the ambience of this place was just incredible. But I found myself staring at Vanessa, the desire to make her happy was just as overwhelming if not more than anything I have ever done.I moved the hair that fell over her face out of her eyes, the desire to continue what we were doing in the car coming in full force. After all I hadn't get my relief. But that was something that would happen once we were back home and Victoria was long gone."Well Anthony," He turned to Vanessa, "And his beautiful wife," The sides of his mouth threatened to come up because of Vanessa's smile most probably. It was too contagious."I hope that

Anthony's point of viewThe restaurant's special turned out to be as delicious as I had expected, I wasn't a big fan of seafood but I felt like this passed the test.Vanessa and I made small talk to pass the time as we are, talking about the most insignificant of things. From the weather to Victor's grades to something about visiting her father soon. She had his progress report being sent to her phone every day and sometimes she felt like she was excluding her siblings from the treatment plan."If they wanted to know, they would reach out," I told her.I did not like when Vanessa got sad, most of the times it was because of me. And I never knew how I was going to make everything better but this time it was her family. The only thing I could do was give an advice and try to sort everything out.I loved when she was happy. She gave me a tight smile and took a bite from her food."What should we do after?" I asked her, ready to change the subject to something I could control. She swallo

Vanessa's point of viewToday I planned on going to Valentine's warehouse, to show him some new designs and get what he thinks about them.I had sent some to Lucas already and he claimed they were great but I still wanted professional advice.Wrapping my hair into a bun and watching myself in the mirror proved to be a difficult task, I didn't look tired so why did I feel tired."Where are you going to?" Anthony would have asked, he would have laid on the bed with his phone in his hands while watching every single thing I do. Then promptly tease me when the situation got overwhelming.I hadn't realised I would miss him so much until it started happening. Perhaps I should have gone on the business trip with him like he suggested. No, no, no. I have to do something to get me on my feet. We can stay away from each other for three days, we did it for six years and we're still okay. After watching numerous tiktok videos on how to correctly apply makeup, I knew I could do the most basic make

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Fifty - At peace

Vanessa's point of viewComing back to the hospital after the last time I was here with Anthony brought a feeling of nostalgia. I had vomited on Elizabeth's shoes within this very walls before I went for the tests that would prove I was fit enough to get married to Anthony. Now here I was, rushing through the halls with Elizabeth. She refused my request to check on my sister until the doctors and nurses in the Emergency room were done with her.She wanted me to stay put in her office.Perhaps Anthony could have said something that would allow her let me see my sister. But he said wasn't here. And I hadn't thought of sending him a text when everything happened.I did that right then."Hey, how's the trip going. My sister is in the hospital right now and your mom kept saying I can't see her," I sent the text.Pretty sure he wasn't going to reply anytime soon, probably he was in a meeting or something. But then my phone screen lit up, his text had arrived."Are you hurt?" The text read.

Anthony's point of view"Hey, how's the trip going. My sister is in the hospital and your mom kept saying I can't see her," The text from Vanessa read.I was done surveying the hotel and checking if the details match with what I have on paper for today. And the only thing on my agenda was to sit back and relax. With Ronald being his annoying self as usual, propping his legs on the white couch in the room and typing on his phone."Are you hurt?," I typed and sent back.I was ready to get on my flight to go back if anything had happened to her, ready to forsake the meeting I had with this tech company that wanted to show me some portable device that would put my hotel at the forefront of other hotels."No," Her reply came back fast.So nothing had happened to her, she was okay but Victoria was in the hospital. My heart rate came down and I could breathe well again. I left her text and went straight to my mom's dm.One question. One sentence."What happened?" I sent.Mom was the typical

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Fifty Two- Staying Away

Anthony's point of viewSafe to say I ignored the heck out of Vanessa the coming weeks. It was quite easy when I came back because she was always busy with her sister and then her brother and her nephews, she barely had time to keep up with her work with Valentine.I was able to stay away from the house and pretend I was doing something in the office, doing something at one of my branches, doing something outside the country, sometimes I just needed a break because of the workload. But when she finally settled in and her workload wasn't so tight neither did her sister need her that much, she had moved out of her house with her children and Vanessa helped her pay the rent for a new house. Vanessa was finally free to notice I was avoiding her.Of course she wasn't comfortable with what I was doing. She wanted to know what she did wrong, why I was pushing her away but when I wasn't forthcoming with my answers, she stayed back.It probably didn't help that I started bringing girls to the

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Fifty Three- Vacation

Vanessa's point of viewAnthony was such a prick. Making me feel loved and secure with dates and his confessions when he thrusts into me on the bed, his confessions when I'm up making breakfast, his confessions when I'm working on my outfits. He even agreed to be my model. And then he changed overnight, when he came back from that trip. He became this new being that stayed out later than usual and came back with different girls, draped over his hand like they were meant to be there. They were beautiful, these girls and always had a way of making me feel inferior. And I had no way to tell anyone that my husband was cheating on me with multiple girls. Victoria would have his head in a heart beat, she would beat him and made sure I found a way to divorce him but divorcing wasnt even an option and I couldn't tell her I was in a contract marriage.Mary and I were still avoiding each other and honestly, it felt really stupid. So she loved me or she thought she loved me and so I avoided her

Vanessa's point of viewHe didn't come the next day either or the day after. I spent time on the beach with my family sometimes, sometimes I spent it alone and just walked along the length of the sand, careful not to move farther so I wouldn't swim.I did not know how to swim in such a vast space and I did not want anyone to know. Sometimes Lucas sunbath with me, I wondered why he didn't just go out and have some fun like the rest of the squad. I've caught one or more girls eying him from a distance and giggling amongst themselves. They were surely attracted to him.I told him about it on the second day, hours before we would board the plane and go back home.He shrugged his shoulders, "I'm not interested in anyone here," Then he shook his head like the word he said wasn't right, "I'm not interested in anyone from here, I have my eyes on someone else and she's so hung up on a loser that she wouldn't even have anything to do with me."He laughed, moving the angle of his face and just

Anthony's point of viewEverything was a blur after that. Mom kept on screaming, she lost that calm composure she normally had whenever something was amiss. Mary started crying profusely and Vanessa tried to calm her down.It was all chaotic.Dad however, brought out a cigarette from from his pocket and lit the stick up. He took in a huge drag from the stick and blew the air out.In all my years of living, I had never seen my dad smoke before. I guessed you don't know everyone, not even someone you've lived with for a huge chunk of your life and once considered your role model."What's the matter boy? Haven't seen your old man smoking before?" He asked then smiled at me. He looked creepy now.Another stick was brought out of his pocket and extended towards me. He wanted me to join him.I moved backwards, "I'm sorry but I don't smoke" I told him.He chuckled, the sound different somehow. More morbid."Everyone dabbles in sin now and then, helps us keep a sharp mind," He told me.The so

Vanessa's point of viewThe dinner was Anthony's idea. He invited Elizabeth and Daniel, Ronald and Mary and I invited Victoria and Victor. I invited my dad and mom."I want to stay away from anything the Thorns are involved in dearest, I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it," Mom politely declined."There's no problem but I would be able to call you so you can chip your opinions right,?" I asked her.I could see her weighing her options, deciding if this would be worth the risk."My friend is suffering in silence, something needs to be done to stop this guy once and for all," I chipped in the one thing I knew would help the case. The one thing she might agree to.She sighed, "You can call me whenever you need to buy make sure they don't get my number."I ended the call and went back to preparing for the dinner.Anthony had been quiet for the past few hours after he decided that this was what we needed. He just went about playing with Xavier and staying out of my way.I watched them

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty Three- Your father Daniel

Anthony's point of view. The sound of Vanessa's moans was the only thing I could hear. The way she called my name and begged me to touch her whenever I teased her for too long was something my body had missed for so long."Princess, you have to relax," I teased her with my teeth, gently nipping on the nipple while I played with the other breast with my hand. She would have glared at me if she could, "Stop wasting precious time, Victor would be back with Xavier soon," She said admist moans of pleasure.I chuckled, "Tell me how much you want me then princess," I slid two fingers inside her and curved it upwards, gently massaging with enough added pressure."I am going to kill you Anthony," She tried to say but the moans was too much for her, she was almost a whimpering mess underneath me.I stopped immediately I knew she was on the verge of an orgasm. I withdrew my hand and just lowered my mouth downwards to place a kiss on her neck."You're torturing me," She whispered in my ears, her

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty Two- You have got to be kidding me

Vanessa's point of viewI was alone again for a few minutes. Mom had to make a call and her absence for those minutes gave me the time to reflect on what she had said about Daniel and the sort of things Dad's friends did to her.If she wasn't lying then something other the drugs was seriously wrong with dad. He hadn't even had the decency of telling us about this.Trading your wife to your friends was the sickest type of thing anyone could do. It was absolutely disgusting. The door opened again and mom came inside the room. I was more than ready to leave this place but something in me told me she wouldn't be as open as she was here outside. She was secure enough to say such things here. She wasn't secure outside."Did you tell any of my siblings this?" I asked."No, I don't think I can tell them. They wouldn't understand especially that sister of yours, Victor wasn't attached to me when I was there, sometimes I even thought he hated me," She said, I felt the pain in her voice even tho

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty One-My mother's side of the family

Vanessa's point of view"Isn't it better we just put this all behind us, honestly I don't think we should meet that woman and open old wounds," Victoria tried to talk me out of the it that day.I was back in Los Angeles and we were all in the house together. Anthony wanted to come with but he had some pressing matters to attend to in town, he kept in touch though.I then turned to Victor, he had a right to give me his opinion too.He shrugged, "She left when I was young and I wouldn't lie and say I don't want to know the reasons and meet her, I honestly do but it's too much, I don't think I'm ready yet," He turned his face to the side so I wouldn't see the tears that were already forming in his eyes."I'm still trying to prevent the bad memories of dad from coming to the surface when I come close to him," He added.I pursed my lips at those words. I had to make Victor see a therapist to help him, what was I saying..... The entire family needed to see a therapist because there must be

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty -Good riddance

Vanessa's point of view"What the heck?"I did not know who uttered those words between Anthony and myself. Out of all the scenerios I had imagined would happen when I finally came to this house, this wasn't what I expected."Josephine," That was definitely Anthony, he held the baby's head with his hand because the shock of the first shout had startled him and he was crying.Anthony had also had the intelligence to bring out his phone and he started recording the scene. He gave me the phone to continue so he could rock Xavier back to sleep."I did not know you were coming now," Josephine jumped out of the man's body, his dick was limp now as he tried to wear his clothes as fast as he could.Anthony seemed to know him."I didn't expect this from any of you, especially you. You're fucking married," Anthony shouted at the man, I was still recording but I made sure Anthony wasn't in the clip.Just Josephine and the man."I'm so sorry, I'm sorry," The man kept on repeating, when he was don

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Nine- What the heck

Vanessa's point of viewReturning back to town wasn't something I had thought about in a long time. Honestly, I figured we were going to just stay in Los Angeles, plant roots down or just leave the place when we desire.Anthony assured me Elizabeth wouldn't take my brother and son away from me, I hadn't seen her yet by the way but Anthony told me she had come. For a brief amount of time however and had left like there was something on her tail."I can't believe I'm leaving Kylie and all my new friends behind again, I was just starting to fit in," Victor complained to no one in particular, he was in his room putting clothes in his bags.I felt bad I was uprooting him from a new life to the old one again after I initially uprooted him from an old life to this. It honestly wasn't fair to the kid but I didn't know what I was going to do.Anthony and I had decided to give it a try again. A real try this time because there was nothing that could stop us, nothing that would come in the way o

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Eight-Reconciliation

Vanessa's point of viewThe light was blindingly bright and annoying. They should tell the hospital team to work better and build better lights so someone wouldn't wake up and then think she had gone to heaven. The beeping sound of the machine attached to me annoyed me but I let it be, I was still a little bit detached from reality and I did not want to do anything I would regret later on.A figure was seated on the chair by the side, head bent so I couldn't figure out who she was on time. It was Victoria though."Victoria," I tried to call out, my voice felt scratchy and hoarse from lack of use.She didn't stir so I figured out she was asleep. I did not know how long she had been with me so I allowed her to sleep. I drifted off to sleep few minutes later.I woke up two times after. The second time no one was with me and I was groggily anxious, I almost ripped the needles they had attached to me. Luckily a doctor walked into the room at that exact time and was able to sedate me.I sa

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Seven- Accident

Vanessa's point of viewRegrets. Confusion. Those were the only emotions I felt throughout Anthony's little visit and when he left. Then I felt disappointment because of the way my body reacted to him when he came, when he had us against the wall. The warmness and heat that seemed to pool in between my legs was something I hadn't felt for a very long time. I thought it was because of the pregnancy or childbirth so I didn't think anything was wrong with me.Then Victor. Oh my baby. I had done something I hadn't expected myself to do, all in all I behaved rather poorly when I thought about it."Victor," I whispered before knocking on his door.I had this nagging feeling that Victor would be gone from his room and from my life because he couldn't stand the kind of sister I had become. He would go back to the waiting arms of Elizabeth Thorn."Victor," I called out again, knocked harder but still no response. Was this the silent treatment phase? I opened the door and walked in to find Vic
