Whatever Elijah was supposed to tell her, he didn't. Yet again. He couldn't help but feel like he was purposely avoiding it, he felt like a coward. The house felt empty without her beautiful laughs. It was Saturday night, and he had nothing to do. He couldn't wait for her to come live with him, he was sure they would have so much fun together.
At the thought he instantly got excited. Grabbing his phone from beside him he unlocked it and typed in her name, before he started typing his message. He was going to tell her, tomorrow.
Charlotte was startled when her phone pinged, she was peacefully watching her favorite tv-series, Lucifer when it was rudely interrupted. Putting the episode on pause, she grabbed her phone and opened her messages. Even though he was miles away from her and the text only said 'hi tesoro,' she couldn't help the blush. Oh for god's sake she was twenty years old and here she was blushing like a little girl. Clearing her throat she started typing an reply when her mother's voice was heard.
"Charlotte, come down here please!" She really cared about her parents and she knew a part of her loved them dearly but they couldn't help but annoy her whenever she wanted to be left alone. After her little breakdown last night, her parent's had walked in the house minutes later. Thank god, they hadn't questioned her of her red eyes.
She had spent the rest of the evening in her room with her brothers as her parents spend the night with Elijah. She was annoyed, that she wasn't allowed to stay with them and today didn't help either when mother nature had knock down on her stomach, her cramps were the worst. She was freezing, and all she wanted right now was his arms wrapped around her.
Ever since it happened she couldn't stop thinking about it. She had never been hugged before and not felt awkward. It felt so comforting, she never wanted to leave his arms. "Charlotte!" Her mother's scream brought her out of her little dream, she groaned and moved her laptop off her legs and removed the cover.
"I'm coming!" She screamed as her face turned red from anger, oh dear god. She hated her periods; it caused all those mood swings that at one second she could be having the fun of her life and the next bawl her eyes out.
Pulling her door open with force she flinched when it slammed against the wall, she was sure it had left a mark. Descending the stairs, she blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted to the light.
"Yes?" She asked once she was in the living room, her father laid down on the couch watching a football game which she only rolled her eyes at. Her mother had her little brother, Eric on her lap as she looked up at Charlotte.
"Honey, you look pale. Are you alright?" She frowned at her daughter. She couldn't believe she was leaving her baby daughter in a foreign country all alone. She loved her husband dearly but she didn't think this was a good idea. Her eyes instantly filled with unshed tears.
Charlotte frowned, "Mom, are you alright?" She walked near her. Had something happened? She didn't know why, but the first thought that entered her mind was her grandmother, had she died? Was she sick? She will not be able to handle it if she had. "Did something happen?" She nervously questioned and from the corner of her eye saw her father roll his eyes.
She didn't know how he could be so heartless.
"It's nothing honey, I just need to talk to you." Her mother spoke in a shaky voice as she wiped her tears. As if sensing changes in the room, both her little brothers stopped playing and stared at their mother.
"Oh alright, sure." She couldn't help but let fear sink in, now she was sure nothing had happened to anybody and even though she felt reveled she couldn't help but fear that one of her secrets had gotten out. But most of all, had they seen her and Elijah hugging?
She bite down on her lower lip as she thought of an excuse. She followed her mother to the kitchen and once both women were in her mother closed the door softly. "M-Mom you're scaring me." She stuttered.
"Honey, I promise it's nothing bad, just sit down." Her mother spoke as she went towards the cupboards and grabbed a tissue.
"Than what is it?" She questioned her leg tapping against the floor, she had never felt this nervous even when she had taken her first exam. Why was she so nervous?!
"I don't know where to start." Her mother chuckled, making Charlotte let out a humorless laugh. "I know we never tell you this but, your father and I love you so much." Drita knew she had never said those words to her daughter, but she really did love her. It was her first child her stomach could carry; it was after all her first-born child and here she was about to break her heart.
Charlotte was confused to say the least, a part of her couldn't help but yarn to hear the words again. She had never heard them come out of her mothers mouth. She couldn't help the feeling of love fill inside of her, that's all she needed to hear once in a while. She felt as if all her worries had disappeared.
"We're so proud of you baby, but we have decided something." She didn't know how to let her know rather than just say it. Her daughter stood across from her confused out of her mind, what had they decided. Oh god, were they going to force her to marry someone she didn't even know. Her breath hitched as her heart slowed down, it felt like time had slowed down really.
"Elijah is a good man and he's a good friend of your fathers and I. He has really helped us a lot in the past year." Her mother add, helped them? Where the hell was all this coming from? She just wanted to get out of this uncomfortable conversation. She was sure this was the longest conversation she has had with her mother without yelling at her.
She didn't know why they were even talking about that man in the first place, unless they really had seen them hug. This is it, that's what it's about! She thought to herself as her eyes widened in horror.
"He recently suggested that he could help you more with your studies and..." Before panic could settle in her mother spoke again. "And you know it's been getting harder and harder for us." Charlotte felt like an asshole, she wished she could help them, she really did. But finding a job without papers was a pain in the ass. The job she had at the bar was only twice a week for two hours only. So, 40€ was almost as good as nothing.
"I know, I'm trying to find a job mom, but it's hard." She frowned as she tried not cry.
"Honey, it's fine don't worry about that we told you before." Her mother reassuringly smiled at her. "And I know what I'm about to say next will come as a shook, but it's for the best Charlotte." Whenever her name was used, she knew it was something serious.
No matter what she was not prepared for the next few words. "We're returning home." Home? Wasn't this home? When the meaning finally registered in her head her eyes widened in shock.
"What? Mom, we can't do that. What about my school? You know I've forgotten half of the language?" She rambled on and on until her mother placed a hand on hers.
"Not you honey, us." Well that was something she never thought she'd live to hear.
"W-What?" She asked her eyes narrowing in surprise. Her parents were going to leave her. She couldn't believe that. This was some sick joke.
"Yes, you'll be living with Elijah for a few years until everything is in order and then you can go live on your own. I know we don't talk a lot honey, but I know that's been your dream." Dream? How could her mother act as if she knew her when she barely saw her? She couldn't help the hurt.
"I'm sorry. I have homework." She quickly stood up and turned around as the first tear rolled down her cheek. They can't be serious, can they? How would they have decided something like this without even talking with her in the first place? Quickly climbing the stairs she slammed her bedroom door closed and threw herself on the bed as the first sob escaped past her lips.
Even though she didn't want to believe it, a small part of her knew this was true. They were actually going to leave her into some strangers house. How could they do that?
Her thoughts were interrupted when her phone pinged again. She grabbed it and saw a few messaged from one person only. Unlocking her phone she saw the messages of the man she wanted to be by her side.
The wheels in her head started turning as she read the last message. 'Can we meet tomorrow? There's something I need to tell you.' This was it, that's what he was trying to tell her. All this time, how could she be so stupid?
In impulse she did something she never thought she had the guts to do. She blocked him.
She carried her feet against the pavement as she prayed to not be late again, she was drained so running was not an option. Couldn't they have wait? She wondered just have waited a while longer until she at least finished school. Two weeks that's how much she had left. But no, her emotionless parents decide to tell her now about how they were moving all across the world this Wednesday. She sighed and climbed the stairs towards the school's front door. A supervisor held the door open for the students, if it was any other day Charlotte would've stayed with her to keep her company but today she didn't even bother to greet her. Walking into the school had never made Charlotte feel better in her life. She could barely hear her own thought's from the students around her.Confusion was her most present feeling these past few days, she was so confused that she felt like her own life was a dream. She saw the principal standing on a desk as she whispered with a teacher. So, something was going
Elijah was worried, he hadn't heard from her since Saturday. Had something happened? He was in his office going over the piece of paper for the third time, he couldn't concentrate. He didn't know how it happened but he really cared about her. He was going to pick her up from school later today. Knocking on his door made him pull away from his thoughts. "Come in!" He called and straightened his poster.Elena, one of his employees walked in, her heels clicking against the floor he tried to hold in his groan. She was trying to hard. He didn't understand because they had already slept together. A night which he would regret for the rest of his life. He had thought it would make her lay off his back but no, it's as if she had pierced her claws into his back and was obsessed with him."Mr. Maddox." He couldn't help but notice the way she spoke in a low voice, he stared at her as she closed his office door before turning the lock. He rolled his eyes as he quickly shut his shirt buttons he ha
Charlotte occasionally lied to her friend, but none of the lies she had told till now were as big as this one. She felt bad but she just wasn't ready to tell her yet. She wasn't even sure if Elijah and Amara would ever meet so what was the point, her friend hadn't bothered to know who she was staying with anyway so she didn't tell her.She stared down at her phone and wondered where she had heard the name of the street before. She opened Maps on her phone and typed in the address. Elijah had sent her, his office address and since she had seen him near the Starbucks she was at, she figured his office wouldn't be that far.And luckily for her it wasn't.She stared away from her phone after she made sure she had the right building. She couldn't help the shock, this was where he worked? The building had at least 40 floors if not more and she was sure it was one of the buildings she could see from her bedrooms window. She thought if this was a good idea. Here she was dressed as a freak abo
Elijah had never hurt a living soul, but he felt like he was about too. He had finally found the perfect moment, and he knew something about his tesoro was different today. Kissing someone had never felt more, right. But unfortunately, he was interrupted by his best friend, Lucas Maes. Instead of kissing her on the lips like he had planned to, he kissed her cheek making them redden more. He pulled away and turned towards his friend who stood smiling at them."Sorry, but I just wanted to see the beauty you can't stop talking about." Lucas exclaimed before moving to the side so he could see the woman that had stolen his best friends heart. To his surprise the person wasn't a woman at all, she looked like a kid. He frowned as he stared at his friend as if asking what the fuck is this? Not wanting to be an asshole to the poor girl who was red like a tomato he walked further into the office and closed the door behind him."Good morning, I'm Lucas." He forwarded his hand as he stared at the
Elijah marched towards his office he couldn't wait to spend time with Charlotte. The few days he had seen her, were the best days of his life. He heard a pair of heels follow behind him knowing very well who it was. Why was she following him?! He stopped walking and turned around making her bump against him. He grabbed her arm and shook her a few times as anger consumed him."Stop!" He snapped making her eyes widen in surprise. "What do you want?" He questioned calmer than he was before.Elena was a stubborn woman, she wanted the man for herself even though she knew he had no feelings for her, she couldn't help but desire him. And after what she had managed to get him to do this morning she couldn't help but hope for more. "I just wanted to ask if you want to have lunch with me." She innocently smiled up at him. He was hurting her both knew that, the hard grip he had on her arm will surely bruise her but neither cared."Listen you either get, me not wanting you in your thick head or I
Charlotte could be such a dumb ass sometimes. She didn't know how she did it, but somehow she had cut her finger. Right now there were droplets of blood all around the counter. As she held her finger under the water she looked around hoping to find any kitchen towel paper. She knew the next step was going to be the pain, she was used to it by now she couldn't count how many times she had hurt herself in the past. After she made sure her finger had stopped bleeding and had cleaned the counter she went on a search to find a band aid. Somehow through her search she had made her way upstairs to the room she was going to sleep in.Charlotte could be clueless sometimes and although she had heard the shower running she still managed to enter the bathroom. She froze once she realised her bathroom was connected to Elijah's bathroom. She quickly adverted her eyes as she went to turn around and leave the room.Elijah was glad he had decided to take a shower and as much as he didn't want to leave
Charlotte had never felt such regrets in her life, for the next two days all she kept thinking about was him and what she had done. Today was the day that her parents would leave her, although she didn't want them to leave she couldn't help but be excited for the future. She stood leaning against the door frame as she stared at her mother who was searching for her brothers clothes. "Can I help?" She cleared her throat, making her mother turn towards her. Drita smiled at her daughter before tears of sadness filled her eyes. It's not that Charlotte was heartless, she truly cared about people even when she didn't want to. But there's one thing Charlotte despised and it was people crying in her presences. She didn't know how to act, she wasn't one for hugs or comforting them. She awkwardly stood there for a second longer before moving further into the room, the room which once was hers but now had been cleared out.Her mother was a super woman because she had managed to pack Charlotte's c
Charlotte stared out of the window as they passed the lines of trees which seemed to be endless. She had sat on the back away from Elijah, although he was hurt by the decision he understood. She needed time. "So, where are we going?" Charlotte cleared her throat; she was tired of drowning in her sad thoughts. If her father didn't care about her why should she?Elijah was surprised to hear her voice. "Home?" It came out more as an question and he truly felt pathetic how could a girl 10 years younger than him make him feel this way. "Do you have somewhere else to go?" He asked her clearing his throat.Charlotte lifted her head away from the window and moved closer to him. "Not really, but if you want to go home than I'm cool with it." His breath hitched when he felt her speaking next to his ear. He moved in his seat and stared at her through the rare mirror."Yeah." He cleared his throat once again when it came out rougher than he had intended. He couldn't believe she had managed to tur
Charlotte's body landed on the bed with a thump as a laugh escaped from her lips. She couldn't believe this was really happening. The desire in her grew with every second. Her body was on fire and she could barely breathe. His lips against her skin felt so forbidden but so delighting. Closing her eyes all she could imagined were the things she wanted him to do to her. His lips all over her body. His hands in her hair. On her body. All over her.Elijah hovered over her, his heart racing in his chest when the need became unbearable. He leaned; their lips connect once more. His hands went to her side until he reached the hem of her dress as his hand disappeared underneath.Charlotte gasped when his hand touched the inside of her thigh, she was wet and in need of him. Her hand running through his hair, she fisted his hair before tugging on his head making him grunt."You are so beautiful." He whispered to her, his lips went down to her neck, where he began his assault of kisses."Oh." Cha
Today didn't start off well, Elijah had to leave for work and Charlotte was drowning in her sorrow. She couldn't help but feel like he wanted to get away from her. Sure it was Monday but he could've called in sick. Or maybe it was her being needy. She decided to explore the rest of the house. She had seen the pool and she couldn't wait until the sun was out. She was in need of a relaxed day. As she walked through the halls, she couldn't help but feel paranoid. It was too quiet; she had never been in a house that was this quiet all the time. She really missed her brothers.Twenty minutes later she had seen every room in the house. The house was designed with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, a large living room and kitchen with backyard and of course the pool. She was too afraid to go to the basement so she decided to leave it alone. As she descended the stairs she made her way to the kitchen to see if she could find anything to eat. When she saw all the healthy food in the fridge she
Charlotte woke up from her deep slumber when she found it hard to breath. Sometimes it happened. Some days whenever she woke up in the morning she had it hard to breath, she needed to stick her head outside the window to get fresh air and that's what she did. Almost tumbling all over the floor she quickly opened the window and took a deep breath. After her heart slowed to normal rate and she didn't feel like she was about to die, she turned around ready to get in bed again when she saw him.He was peacefully sleeping on his side of the bed and all of a sudden she remembered the night before. After almost a week she had finally let herself feel the anger and hurt from what her father had done. And she had begged him to sleep beside her, it's not like he was hesitant but when she had wanted to do more than sleep he had turned her down claiming she was only doing it because she was hurt. The young girl wanted to scream at him and tell him that it was indeed what she was trying to do but
