~Megan
I felt really embarrassed, like way worse than being on fire. I couldn't even look at the guy, so I just turned my head away. "Let me go," I told him, my voice all rough and quiet. "I just want to leave."
He finally let go of my arm, and I quickly moved away from him, my legs shaking. I yanked on my clothes without daring to glance at him. I just wanted to get out of there, away from feeling so embarrassed and ashamed.
I headed for the door, my hand shaking as I reached for the handle.
Before I could open it, his voice came from behind. "You can't run from this," he said, sounding low and threatening.
I turned to face him, my hands clenched into fists. "You're a monster," I told him, my voice shaking with anger. "You used me, and now you're trying to control me."
He smiled, and it hurt. "You think I'm trying to control you?" He sounded amused..
"I'm just stating the facts. You had a one-night stand with a stranger, and now you have to deal with the consequences," he said, his words hanging heavy in the air.
I was really angry when I left the room, feeling a heavy anger in my chest. As I walked down the halls, my mind was all over the place. Standing there, tears were rolling down my face, and it felt like my heart was breaking, almost like a bad dream. I knew I couldn't let him off the hook. I had to make him pay for what he did.
I headed back to the room, with so many ideas racing through my mind.
As I opened the door, I saw him, back in bed, sleeping peacefully. I felt a surge of rage, and I knew what I had to do. I crept closer, a plan forming in my mind. He would never see it coming. He would never know what hit him.
Determined to lighten the heavy mood, I decided to get back at Charles.
I grabbed his clothes, smirking and thinking, "Time for a little payback."
Quietly, I tiptoed to the bathroom, turning on the tap to flood Charles' room. Chuckling to myself, I heard him stir, and I hid swiftly to avoid being seen.
Whispering with a mischievous grin, "This should teach you a lesson – don't mess with people you've just met."
After I let the water flow in the room for a bit, I checked to see if it looked good to me. The water was flowing pretty strong, and I felt satisfied aiming it at Charles's bed. The foam was almost soaked to the top. I stood there, smiling at Charles and how silly he looked lying on a wet bed. Quickly, I made my escape as Charles tried to wake up.
Hiding in the hallway, I heard Charles shout, "What's going on? Where are my clothes?" His panic only made me feel more satisfied.
Out in the hallway, I saw Charles run out with a sheet quickly wrapped around him. The sight was so funny, and I couldn't help but tease him, "Enjoying the surprise, Charles?"
His face turned really red, like he was super embarrassed. "Megan, what the hell has gotten into you? This is not funny! Where are my clothes?" he demanded, sounding pretty frustrated.
Chuckling, I said, "Think of it as payback for your little prank."
He looked at me with disbelief. "Come on, you're just a call-girl," he declared, kinda showing he didn't think much of me.
“Maybe next time, show some respect to ladies!" I replied, sounding a bit defiant.
With that, I disappeared around the corner, leaving Charles really mad and swearing to get back at me.
“I'm going to deal with you, Megan! I swear to God!” he yelled, clearly pissed.
"You wish!" I smiled, walking away, not paying much attention to his angry rants.
~CharlesI paced back and forth in my hotel room, my mind racing as I tried to figure out what to do. The shower had been running for hours, flooding the bathroom and seeping into the hallway outside. It was obvious Megan had it broken. My phone was submerged in a puddle of water on the bathroom floor, completely useless. "How could that woman be so cruel?" As I looked around the room, searching for a solution, my eyes landed on the hotel phone on the nightstand. A glimmer of hope sparked in my mind. Maybe I could call the front desk and ask them to send someone to help me. I snatched up the phone, but as I dialed the number, my heart sank. The phone was dead. Water must have gotten into the line and shorted it out. I was well and truly stuck. I slumped onto the wet bed, defeated."What sort of mess did I get myself into," I muttered to myself. "How am I going to get out of this?" I had to think of something, but what? Just then, there was a knock at the door."Hello?" I called o
~CharlesJust when I thought I had found someone that could change my perception about love, maybe falling in love with her would've helped me heal from my previous heart break from Janette, my ex-girlfriend. "Damn it Charles, you just ruined everything!" I said, hitting the brain box of my car. "You shouldn't keep hurting ladies simply because of Janette's heartbreak". I muttered to myself.I felt my anger rising again, threatening to consume me.As I pulled into the driveway of my father's house, I took a deep breath. I knew I looked a mess, and I dreaded the thought of facing my father and the guests. But I couldn't just walk past them, I had to face them. I gathered my courage and made my way to the front door. I walked into the house, hearing the sound of laughter coming from the sitting room. I took a deep breath and pushed open the door. My father and his guests looked up, their faces registering surprise and amusement."Charles, my boy!" My father exclaimed, his voice drip
~MeganI walked through the front door of my house, still reeling from what had happened at the hotel. I hadn't meant to humiliate Charles like that, but he deserved it for worsening the pain I felt after I caught Steve and my friend Anna in bed. It felt so good to see him squirm."I hate men now."I felt a little guilty, but I was mostly just relieved to be done with that chapter of my life, and relationships. I tossed my keys on the counter and headed for the kitchen."Where is everyone*? I called out for my parents and my sister, but there was no response.I decided to walk to my room and take a shower. After a long, relaxing shower, my stomach growled, prompting me to head down the street for breakfast. While I was waiting to cross the street, I heard a man sitting in a mini-van saying something like, “He seems very irritated, very likely because of the marriage. Believe me, our plan’s gonna work.” They are probably mafia so I pretended to hear nothing and walked away as soon as
~MeganI stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection. I was wearing a beautiful white dress, but I felt anything but beautiful. I thought of my friend Jenny, who had died a few days ago. I couldn't even attend her funeral, because I was planning my stupid wedding with a man I have never met. I remembered her smile, her laugh, and how much I would miss her. Tears streamed down my face, I felt my heart breaking into pieces, I slumped to the floor weeping. But I knew that I had to do this, for my family.I took a deep breath, and wiped away my tears. I tried to steel for what was to come. I knew I had to be strong. The door opened, and my mother stepped into the room. "How are you feeling, sweetheart?" she asked, her eyes filled with concern.I forced a smile. "I'm fine," I lied. "Just a little nervous."My mother placed a hand on my shoulder. "It's okay to be nervous. This is a big day. But remember, you don't have to do this alone. We're all here for you."I knew she was
~Megan The air crackled as my father’s voice sliced through the chaos, ordering the henchmen to stand down. “Let her go this instant,” he said, causing everyone to cease their actions.. My eyes, wide with disbelief, remained glued to him as he barked orders, revealing himself as the architect of our ordeal. Was the family’s financial despair so dire that he’d turned to crime? My mind buzzed with unanswered questions. He dragged me aside, his eyes filled with urgency. “Look, Megan, I know you have questions, and I’ll answer them soon. But right now, you need to pull yourself together and get Charles to the hospital.” His plea fell on deaf ears. I couldn’t tear my gaze from Charles’s unconscious form, a chilling horror gripping me. Not answering him, my father shook me. “Megan, snap out of it; this is not the time!” Jerking back to reality, I was led out of the stuffy, dirty warehouse, freed and placed in the back of the van that brought us here with the knocked-out Charles. I could
~Charles A hard month went by slowly; filled medications and physical therapies before my leg began to function properly. Regardless of the pain and long process, I preferred it to the days ahead. Days that I would be a married man.. The day dreaded most inevitably came. This won’t stop anything, I reminded myself as I stood there in front of a crowd of unfamiliar faces, about to marry a girl my father had chosen for me—a girl from a lower social class. Yes, I had a one-night stand with her, but that’s where I wanted it to end. Fate, however, played a cruel trick on me after the girl had embarrassed me. As if that weren’t punishment enough, we were kidnapped. A sigh escaped my lips as I waited. I wasn’t nervous; I just wanted it all to be over as soon as possible. The only time I was pulled out of my train of thoughts was when the orchestra began playing the ‘Here Comes the Bride’ song—cliché and infuriating. I felt nothing as the bride marched in, her father by her side. It
~ CharlesSince Megan wanted to act like a child, I decided to join her. In the morning, we went down for breakfast. She still had her morning hair tied in a messy bun and still looked exhausted. She stifled a yawn, stretching like a cat and ignoring my presence. I smirked secretly and continued sipping on my morning coffee.I watched Megan put her phone on the table, and my smirk widened. The first phase of my plan involved her phone. I didn’t want her to be able to call for help when I was done with her. I lifted my head and gave the maid standing behind her a nod. The teenager hesitated, biting her lower lip, but when I frowned, she moved.“What are you doing?!” Megan screeched.“I am so sorry, ma,” the girl cried, wiping Megan’s phone on her apron.Megan snatched it from her to inspect it. Her eyes turned sad, then desperate. “It is ruined…” she mused. I had to restrain myself from laughing. Of course, the phone was ruined, or whatever she said. I instructed the maid to pour fresh
~ MeganMy brows tightened. “What show?” I asked Charles, who was dressed like he was about to go for a stroll. It was at that moment that a table was set; I watched in awe as the maids hurriedly did it. I could feel a storm coming, but I chose to ignore the feeling.Charles came to my side and led me to sit, raising the stakes of Mu skepticism. “Charles, what is going on?”“A date,” he answered sweetly. The maids came to pour him a glass of red wine, but none for me. I found it odd as my stomach began to twist. Charles lifted the glass to me. “A toast to the woman I married after a one-night stand.”My heart skipped. The maids and guards around began to clap and whistle cheers, causing my skin to crawl. “Charles…” my voice came in barely a whisper. “What are you doing?”“I just want the world to know how we met; is that so wrong?” He laughed maliciously, then he looked around. “Do you all want to hear how easy it was to get her in my bed?”Dread filled my guts as the guards and maid
~ Charles“Megan,” I began, my voice quivering with the burdensome weight of what I needed to say. Her eyes turned to me, full of curiosity and concern, as I confessed the truth that had eaten away at my peace and sanity for years.Megan lost her mind for a moment, kicking, punching, and calling me names. She refused to believe that I was capable of such an evil act. She said she saw the silhouette of the hit-and-run driver, and it wasn't mine. She accused me of taking the fall for someone, and I tried to explain that I was not, but she wouldn't believe me.“Megan, it is the truth, and I can't keep running from it,” I said, my voice steadier with resolve. “I need to own up to what I’ve done.”Megan remained in denial, but I felt ecstatic, more than I have felt in years. It was ironic, huh? I was feeling relieved just knowing that I was going to pay for my crimes. Megan refused to follow me, so after I said my last goodbye to my son, I drove myself to the police station, knowing that
~ MeganI ran out of the office panting. When I saw my sister, I told her everything and I took the flash drive that had the video with me.My sister had a brilliant idea. She smirked as she spoke. “Tomorrow is Charles’ wedding with that snake. Why don't we crash the wedding and expose the truth?”My eyes lit up. “You are so bloody smart and wicked, Lena,” I smirked. With determination burning in our hearts, Celena and I hatched a plan to crash Charles’s wedding, and Lucian was ready to help us in any way possible. We would expose May tomorrow for her deceit. Armed with the evidence that still had its primary source alive, I knew it would be a piece of cake to expose May.The next day, we arrived at the venue of the wedding, our hearts pounding with anticipation and nerves. We were determined to make our move before it was too late.As we stealthily made our way inside, I felt like I was in one of those dramatic telenovelas, and I was the female lead ready to rain hell on the villains
~ MeganThat was the last conversation I had with Charles before our divorce was made public. Without giving an explanation to the public, he began his wedding preparations, forcing people to speculate about the reason for our separation. Unsurprisingly, there were people who guessed it right and immediately began to cyber-attack Charles and May.I avoided the media and crowded locations because I wasn't ready to face them yet.Every day felt like an endless battle as I tried to survive the storm of emotions that raged within me. The pain of my separation from Charles made me feel vulnerable and broken because neither of us wanted it. But then I knew I had to stay strong, for myself and for the life that lay ahead of me with Charles. As the days crawled by, I found solace in quiet moments, mostly spent alone, where I could reflect on the memories we had shared and the love that had once bound us together. But even in the midst of my grief, a flicker of hope remained, a tiny flame tha
~ Megan"But my father... he has always been too focused on the business, even when he is supposed to be retired. He is hell-bent on protecting the family name at all costs. He can't see past that, even if it means our happiness."Tears welled up in my eyes as I shook my head in disbelief. It was as if things were about to head south, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. "I can't believe he is doing this to me... I thought we had his support.""So did I," Charles admitted, feeling a lump form in my throat. "But it seems like... like he is willing to throw everything away for the sake of that company."I wrapped my arms around Charles, seeking solace in his embrace. “We’ll get through this, Charles. We always do, no matter how tough the going gets. As long as we have each other, we are going to be fine.”I knew that no matter the challenges that lie ahead, we would overcome them, as long as we had each other, we would be fine.“I love you, Megan,” Charles whispered, pressing a
~ CharlesIt was a big shock to meet Megan at my father’s house. I could only hide my surprise by pretending to be unsurprised to see her. As she stepped aside for us to chat, her presence seemed to fill the space, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of conflicting emotions.“Charles?” she narrowed her eyes. “You didn't tell me that you would be coming here,” her voice a mixture of apprehension and determination.“Honey!” I replied, mustering a smile despite the turmoil brewing within me. “Why are you here? I mean, you didn't tell me that you would be seeing Father today…”She hesitated for a moment before speaking, her gaze steady. “I needed to talk to your father, Charles. It's about May and her crazy claims.”My heart sank at the mention of May’s name. The mere thought of her sent heavy waves of frustration through me. But I pushed aside the emotions, focusing on Megan, or better still, trying not to break character so she wouldn't know I came here for a reason.I laughed awkwardly
~ MeganI spoke earnestly, my voice tinged with frustration and desperation, hoping to convey my innocence to my father-in-law amidst the gravity of the situation."She deliberately manipulated the situation to make it appear as though I pushed her down the stairs. But I swear, Father, I would never do such a sinister thing, no matter how upset I may be. You know me, you know that I love Charles a lot and care about this family. I couldn't harm anyone, let alone a pregnant woman for that matter."My father-in-law regarded me with a mixture of concern and contemplation, absorbing my words carefully. "Megan, I've known you for years. I know the kind of person you are, and I find it hard to believe that you would intentionally harm anyone, let alone May."I felt a wave of relief wash over me at his words. Perhaps he was beginning to see through May's deceitful facade."But," he continued, his expression serious, "we can't ignore the evidence before us. May's injuries, her condition... Th
~ MeganHearing that May tried to seduce Charles infuriated me, and I couldn't help but confront the insolent girl. I had been excusing her attitude all this time because I could understand that she was going through depression, but trying to seduce Charles was going too far.I found May sitting in the living room, flipping through a magazine as if nothing had happened. My anger reached boiling point as I approached her.“What the hell do you think you were doing last night?” I snapped, unable to contain my frustration.May looked up, her expression shifting from indifference to mild surprise. “Oh Megan, what a surprise. Did you come to keep me company? Don't bother, I am fine all by myself.”I scoffed at her stupid attempt at feigning ignorance. “Cut the crap, May. I know what you tried to do to Charles yesterday. Seducing him? Seriously? Are you that dumb?”May's facade faltered, and a flicker of guilt flashed across her face before it was replaced by defiance. "What are you talking
~ CharlesI don't know if it would be wrong to say I hate the mother of my unborn child, but I really do. She is a literal pain in the ass who cares little about how her actions affect others. I glanced at Megan, who came along with me to the hospital. She was oddly quiet, but I could see genuine concern etched in her brows for a woman who attempted to ruin her marital life.I don't believe people like Megan should exist in this flawed world with people like May and me; she was literally a saint amidst wolves. She didn't even get upset that our day was ruined by the news; she was rather scared that something might have happened to May.The doctor came out shortly after and spoke to us, telling us the situation of that crazy lady. “She is battling with severe depression; she can't be left alone, otherwise, it might not end well next time,” the doctor said.I immediately flared up. “So we have to hire a caregiver for her now? We might as well just put her in an asylum.”Megan shot up to
~ Charles"Please, I need to talk to Megan urgently," I pleaded with Celene, but she wasn't ready to listen."Leave, Charles. I don't want to call the cops on you," she threatened, arms crossed.I had been coming over all week long with the hopes of seeing Megan, but her family was uncooperative. At first, I thought she wasn't home, but after checking all her usual locations, I could only debunk that she was home.I knew she didn't want to see me, but I didn't want to give up just yet. I needed her to know that I was sorry for all the hurt my past actions were causing her.Today, like the previous days before it, I came to plead with her family members to allow me to visit her, but I froze when she opened the door."Megan…" I tried to grab her, but she turned on her heels inside the house. Without a second thought, I followed her. "Megan, please wait.""Leave me alone," she cried, running up the stairs."Mr. McCall, you should leave. My daughter doesn't want to speak with you," Mr. Co
