Envious

****Vanessa's POV***

My heart pounded so hard in my chest as I placed a call through to my dad. It rang the first time, but he didn't pick up. I used my old line to call him, but he didn't pick up.

Makes me wonder if he would rather not pick up because he's mad at me. What if that was truly the case? What am I supposed to do then?

I called again, feeling terribly anxious. I begged in my mind for the moon goddess to have pity on me, so I can hear from my dad, even if it's for once.”

Just then, I heard the clearing of my throat on the other end of the phone.

“Vanessa, is that you?” Hearing my dad's voice brought instant tears to my eyes. I dried my eyes instantly, so he wouldn't notice that I was trying.

“Darling, what happened to you?” His voice held so much strain. I could tell that indeed he had not been feeling that good.

“Dad, I'm so sorry for letting you down. I'm sorry I didn't call you before now, please forgive me,” I said as tears rushed down my eyes.

“My love, what happe
