Selena

“Step aside.” Lucian barked angrily at Logan, but Logan simply refused to budge. It was surprising that he could stand up against Lucian like that when he was the beta.

“So mother was right after all, you’ve been whoring around with him and everyone else while I was gone right?” He glared at me above Logan’s shoulder.

“How could you even think of hurting an unborn child? How evil can you be Selena? How much hatred can you have in your heart to be able to do that? All that negative energy is the reason your womb is still blocked.” He added angrily and reached out to hit me but Logan shoved him backwards.

“That’s your Luna Lucian. Think before you act.” Logan growled but Lucian simply ignored him.

“I didn’t do it, I didn’t ev-even touch her. I was about to leave when she fell on her own, why would you even think that I would be able to do that?” I asked, unable to stop the tears that was still rolling down my cheeks.

The woman that caused all this commotion was still sprawled out on the floor, groaning and twisting her body as if she was in pain.

“She just fell by herself, I have nothing to do with this, please believe me.” I sobbed.

“Liar! You’re nothing but a liar! You’re just bitter and unfortunate, if anything happens to my child, I promise you, I would end you with my own hands.” He threatened.

“And that would be us giving her an opportunity to harm our future heir,” Brinny’s voice rang out from behind Lucian. I had not noticed her presence until that moment, she helped the pregnant woman to her feet before she turned around to stand beside her son,

“Kick her out right now. Allowing her stay here is putting our heir at risk, she is a bitter and evil woman, she has been sleeping with your beta while you were gone and has turned him to her little puppet.”

“Brinny!” I exclaimed.

How were they coming up with such lies?

“Step aside Logan or risk getting punished with her.” Lucian threatened Logan but he still refused to step aside, “this is your last chance Selena, go in there, pack your things and get out of my house.” Lucian said to me just as Katherine joined us on the balcony.

“She cannot just leave,” Katherine spoke up immediately, “do you have any idea what that would cost us? I am sure you would know about all this if you had stayed in your pack and performed your duties like every other Alpha would.”

“She is right,” Logan chipped in, “Selena cannot leave without the council approving of it and you would loose a whole lot of things if she steps down as…”

“I do not give a fuck what I loose, gather the council members immediately.” Lucian roared as he turned around and led his new woman back into the house.

As soon as Brinny exited the balcony with her son, I collapsed against Logan as my body trembled due to the heavy sobs that threatened to wreck me.

“Don’t worry Selena, we would always stay by your side.” Katherine said reassuringly but I wasn’t listening to her, I was more focused on how Lucian could have changed to someone that would think I could hurt an unborn child.

What did he take me for? What did he see me as?

It was only a matter of minutes before the elders gathered in the hall and Logan and I walked in with Katherine by my side. Brinny whispered something to Logan as soon as she saw me and I couldn’t help but notice that Lucian’s new woman was seated on my seat which was right next to Lucian’s.

Logan stepped forward and was about to say something about it but I stopped him and sat somewhere else.

“She has to go, she just tired to harm the Alpha’s unborn child out of jealousy and the hatred inside of her.” Brinny said immediately after everyone was seated.

“That is a wrong move Brinny, have you forgotten the alliance her birth pack provides us?” An elder spoke up.

“That’s right, her father’s warriors are a major reason why we’ve been able to hold the rogues at bay. If we send her back, we loose that alliance.” Another chipped in.

“Think about everything the Luna had built, everything she had worked so hard for, it would all go down the drain and the pack would suffer immensely for it.” Another added.

“What has she done that our new Luna won’t be able to do.” Brinny shot back, “what has she done that is so special that no one else can do? This woman here just did what Selena could never do in all her years here, she is carrying an heir.”

“Brinny is right, we don’t need those warriors to keep the rogues at bay, once the word gets round that our Alpha has returned with an heir, our image and strength would be reinstated and the rogues would dare not attack.” One of the elder spoke up in support of Brinny.

I just sat there listening to them bicker on the matter, the whole thing hurt me more than I had imagined. How could they cast me aside so easily, how could my loyalty to this pack ever come under question? Years of dedication and what I got in return was a meeting where they bickered about if they should cast me aside or not.

I stared at Lucian, unsure if this was a dream or reality.

“Luna Selena is not going anywhere, she has been here for us even when our so called Alpha was away on his escapades. She stood by our side, protected us like we were her birth pack and did everything in our favor. When was the last time she paid a visit to her father? Think about it? She has been so busy with us even when she was never treated like a true Luna by Alpha Lucian.” Katherine spoke up.

I was always grateful to her, the way she sided with me like Lucian was not her brother never seized to amaze me.

“Has she brain washed you too?” Brinny snapped at her, “are you even thinking about your little niece or nephew that she had just tried to harm.”

“Luna Selena would never harm an unborn child, she is nice and generous, she gives to the…” Katherine continued but Lucian cut her off.

“So are you saying that my Luna is lying?” He snarled at her and even though Katherine was fierce, she was still under his rule so she was bound to cower under the fierce gaze of her Alpha.

The elders continued to argue among themselves while I just stared at them all, blankly.

“If she is carrying his heir then she must have the blessing of the moon goddess which would go a long way in benefiting this pack.” The elder beside Brinny spoke up and the others in support of it nodded in agreement.

Lucian cleared his throat and turned to me, everyone fell silent as they waited for him to speak,

“So what’s it going to be Selena, would you leave on your own or do I need to throw you out forcefully?” He asked and I couldn’t help but notice how Brinny and the other woman grinned at each other.

Those two were definitely up to something. Brinny had accepted her way too easily.

“Please Luna Selena, please don’t leave.” Katherine cried out and when Lucian shot her a look, she whimpered and fell silent.

“Believe it or not, I didn’t try to hurt your child and you do not have any right to walk in here and throw me out after I had worked so hard to keep things in order while you were gone.”

“And so…” Brinny jumped in but I cut her off when I raised a hand sharply to silence her.

I was done respecting a mother-in-law that refused to respect herself.

“Let me finish.” I said to her before I continued, “believe it or not, you need me here to continue a lot of projects and until I decide to leave on my own, no one is going to throw me out.”

“I am the Alpha and the council has decided…”

“The council has decided nothing yet,” I snapped at Lucian and I saw how he reacted to my sudden outburst, he was taken aback.

“So, in respect for the elders decision, we would cast a vote, everyone in favor of me staying back as the Luna should raise their hand and just so everyone knows, I would respect the out come of this vote no matter what it is.” I added as I leaned back on my seat with a racing heart to watch them.

Even though I looked composed, my heart was pounding so fast that it threatened to rip out of my chest, my palms were so sweaty and I was so scared of being rejected and cast aside by the same people I had worked so hard for.

Slowly, a few of them began to raise their hands.
