I walked down the hallway to the master bedroom to give the coffee to the owners of this beautiful yet disgusting mansion. I walked with the large copper dish in my hands, the hallway was so quiet that if a pin dropped the sound would echo. This is the same mansion where once a happy family lived.
A family in which grief, happiness, was shared. It was a family where the laughter of its members echoed in the whole mansion. If the family knew what was coming for them they would have done something to prevent what was meant to happen. Not once did they think what would happen if one would leave. They would have been mentally prepared. I think so…
I sighed, you see, life is nothing related to what we want, it's not a fairytale, it's not what it looks like in movies, books, novels, etcetera; it's different, it's exactly the opposite of what it looks like. 'Always expect the unexpected I still remember Mrs Rae's words, she also said 'Life is not always a bed of roses which you lay on, don t forget that the roses also have thorns and they will pierce you when the right time comes. It s like they have been engraved in my head. I like the way I was treated by them, for a short period but it was the best part of my life after my mother s death.
I knocked on the door and went in. I walked to the coffee table near the window and placed the dish in front of the devil. She had a maid doing her nails, and another maid doing her hair. Money is what they have. Nevertheless, I had nothing to do with this woman. After placing the dish I reluctantly left the devil s room.
I took a part-time job as a maid over here in the Jones Mansion. You know they say that 'you should know your friends close but you should know your enemy like the palm of your hands. I walked past the rooms in the hallway to the kitchen which was in some other corner of the mansion.
"Madison! Please take these plates to the dining room for dinner," said the head maid, Chiara. I nodded and then walked to the dining room with the plates in my hands placed neatly with the utensils in front of each chair.
It was half-past eight meaning they would be coming in here soon so I walked around the table and stood on the side as the other two maids did. As I predicted they as in my stepsiblings walked in, Abraham, Sydney, Laura. Then behind them walked in the devil as in their mother. They all sat down in their respective seats and the chattering began.
"Hey! Don t do that Adam and Sydney stop taking his side! You know he's trapping you in one of his disgusting games," Laura yelled to Abraham and Sydney. Whereas, Briana was on her phone doing God knows what.
"No sissy! I m not like you," Abraham said back to Laura. She frowned and then kicked Abraham beneath the table, making him yelp in pain. Sydney snickered and Abraham glared at her.
"What do you mean you aren't like me?" she paused and then said "I know I m better than you," Sydney couldn't keep her laughter in and so she burst out laughing.
"Okay! Okay, you guys listen up! Do you know what happened in the university today?" She looked at them both. Abraham shook his head while Laura was thinking.
"Oh, are you talking about the 'queen bee'?" Laura quoted.
"Yes, she-" Sydney was interrupted by her brother.
"Oh, what about her?" He asked them both.
"I m telling you silly! Have patience! So, yeah I was telling that she being the centre of attraction of our university, was demeaned by this nerdy girl in the cafeteria about some guy and at the end, the nerdy girl threw her drink on the queen bee and so that was recorded and sent on the college gossip group," Sydney said. Abraham made an 'O shaped face and then burst out laughing.
I miss you, Isabella, I wish you were here and bicker about something useless. We both would be staying in our home, then possibly get married, have kids and get old, watch our grandchildren grow up. I wish we both were-
"Annabella?" my heart stopped when I heard my real name, but how come they know it's me. I looked around to see the devil looking towards me. Oh no! I have-
"Yes, madam?" The maid beside me took a step forward.
"Can you call-" she stopped in between when she noticed her husband walking in. "Oh, here he is, never mind," and the maid stepped back into her position and the chattering suddenly died down.
They had dinner peacefully, little did they know that this peace is short-lived? No, I don t think so. I might spare the three kiddos, but I can't promise that after all, they were aware of the forceful abduction of my sister and about me being killed but they couldn't do anything about it because they were also threatened by their mother on that fateful day…
"If you three dare to call the cops or any other agency then remember you will face the same thing as these two bastards! Understand?!" she screamed but what s with her calling the both of us bastards? We aren't illegitimate then why?
They were looking so frightened about what was happening at the moment. They have just entered their teenage years for god sake! Briana has fisted Isabella s hair and a revolver placed on her forehead. I was seeing this happen and that's when I saw a vase beside me, I picked it up and went towards Briana; the good thing was that her back was facing me.
When I was an inch closer to her she turned around and shot in my direction. Everything had stopped, my eyes were wide open feeling numb but I could feel the blood oozing out of my wound. I looked at my sister and her eyes were bloodshot red and wider than mine. I could see the transparent tears of my sister leaking out of her eyes.
"Annabella!!" she screamed and ran towards me to hold me. Unfortunately, she couldn't come because her hair was fisted in Briana s hand. I fell on my knees making the wound bleed more; I felt pain on the left side of my torso, the pain increased as I lay there in my blood. Losing consciousness the last thing I heard and saw was most tormenting.
Everything was blurry at this point and so I could just see the silhouettes of the people standing before me. I heard Briana s evil laughter and then I blacked out.
I woke up on something soft and comfy, my body felt sore. I wanted to open my eyes but due to some reason, I couldn't. After a lot of struggle I then opened my eyes and took in the place where I was, it had white walls, there was a couch in the side of the room and I was on a bed then my hearing senses came back. I heard a beeping sound and looked in the direction it came from and there were machines.
I touched my forehead with my right hand and that's when I noticed an IV was attached to my hand, my head was aching. A nurse entered the room and then left immediately when she saw me awake. Nevertheless, the doctor came in and took my results.
"How do you feel, Miss Jones?" the doctor asked.
I tried speaking but my mouth was as dry as a desert. The nurse gave me a glass of water and I drank it. "I feel good doctor," questions came to my mind as to how come I m here? I thought I was dead, all the events before I shot came into my mind. My sister! How is she? As if the doctor could see the bewilderment and panic in my eyes he tried to calm me down by rubbing my back.
"How many days have passed since I m here? Who brought me here? Any idea where Isabella Jones is? How is my sister?" I asked all the questions in my mind hurriedly. The doctor kept on rubbing my back.
"Miss Jones you have been here for about eight months now," what?! Eight months?! Are you kidding me? Eight months of my life I don t know about, is my sister dead or alive? The mere thought gave me an intense heartache. The machine started beeping faster and faster and the doctor started calming me down, with soothing words.
"TELL ME ABOUT MY SISTER!" I yelled at them, I was impatient.
"Yes, Miss Jones, we will call the person who brought you here and you can ask him," the doctor said and with that, I calmed down waiting for the person who brought me here. The doctor left and the nurse gave me a few tablets.
I woke up when there was a knock on the door and a man entered. I couldn't see his face but it was evident from his physique. He waved at me, my eyesight was blurry and rubbed my eyes to see who it was. As my eyesight started getting clearer and clearer I saw who it was. OH MY GOSH!
It was one of the bodyguards at the mansion. He always stands near the main gate of the mansion, he makes a record of the people entering and exiting the mansion with its time. I know him because I always used to see him from the window in my room back in the mansion.
"Hello, Anabella, how are you?" he asked. I can t recall his name.
"I m good, sorry I can t recall your name," I looked at him apologetically.
"I m Drake," he introduced.
I asked him the questions that came to my mind and answered all of them without hesitation. After I was shot, he told me that a few people came into the mansion and took the unconscious Isabella with them. He said that the Volkovs were the most wanted Russian Mafia, they had illegal organised business.
That was the day when I got to know about the events that took place after I was shot. I did my research on these people and got to know a lot about them. It s just a matter of time before things change.
My day was over, they had their dinner and after we maids wind up the dining table we had our dinner and my duty was done for the day. I work for four hours as a maid in the mansion. I get free at midnight and leave for my apartment.
Several old, ancient buildings passed by when the car sped by. I couldn't enjoy the beautiful, breathtaking scene as the car was passing every monument at its full speed. Italy is one of the beautiful countries with ancient cities filled with history and art. I slid the window to let the brisk air fill my nostrils, the crisp autumn air came rushing in the car and filled it with its freshness. I looked at my boss sitting beside me and I just noticed that he was looking at me, From when?"Mr Volkov, how far is your mansion?" I asked him."We will be reaching in less than ten minutes," he replied. As if on queue I could see a mansion in the far distance of the field we were going through recently. We reached the compound gates and the gates smoothly slid open by two guards. Then we drove through the compound for a minute or two till we were right in front of the mansion doors. The minute the car stopped the car doors opened; I came out and so did my boss. The mansi
"What are you doing here, Madison?" Austin asked. I was in his room to keep a few documents on his working table, but I saw a locket hanging from the pencil holder when I was leaving. It instantly caught my attention and I pried to look further into it. I picked the locket and felt the texture of the circle pendant in the chain. It looked like it had some type of mechanism to open it as there is something with a sword shape engraved in it. It might be something...I looked at Austin to find him in his sweatpants, I think he was getting ready for bed. I kept the locket down back from where I picked it from. He followed my hand's movement and he stiffened that playful smirk that was long gone. I think I have brought back memories, very unpleasant memories for him. I wonder what happened. He was right in front of me, I was caught off guard, I just blinked once and he was already in front of me."I have asked you something, Madison," he said. I took a few st
Austin’s Point of ViewI looked out of the window at the lush green grass that is now hiding in the darkness of the night. I smiled thinking of what was going to happen tonight. I could have done that way back but I wanted to wait for the right time to come and now is the right time. My laptop gave me a signal indicating that Madison had entered her room and so I quickly turned and sat on the soft comfortable chair facing the laptop and looked at what she was doing at the moment in her room. She just came out of her bathroom after eating the leftover dinner. She was wiping her face and hands with the face towel when she entered the room then she placed the towel at the foot of the bed and stared at the lamp. I observed her every action through the camera I had made my men install in her room. It is a very small hidden camera, not easy to find. I have placed those cameras almost everywhere in her room with a few microphones here and there
I looked back at the screen when I heard a knock on the door in Anabella’s room. She got up and opened the door. I walked in on a maid holding a cup of herbal tea which I specially asked them to prepare.“What’s this?” Anabella asked.“Madam, sir has asked me to give you this herbal tea, he said it will help you to relax and sleep quickly,” the maid said to Anabella. She has to accept the cup of tea otherwise my plan wouldn’t work. If she doesn’t accept the cup of tea then I will have to use my other plan which would be noticed easily. The gas would be visible to her if I released it and it would make her suspicious. However, I did not need to use plan B as she accepted the cup of tea and kept it on the nightstand. She took her phone and was sliding through some pictures in her gallery and stopping at each one of them for a minute or so. I zoomed on her phone and was surprised to see pictures of her and Isabella wh
My revenge for the Volkov’s will start from today, in fact from this moment onwards. I am waiting for Jade to arrive at the café we decided to meet in. He said to arrive at half-past six and now it’s ten minutes past seven. I look around the café and I feel uncanny. I don’t know why but something is unpleasant here. There are a few people here in the café. Jade and I decided to meet at the café in the evening in lieu of discussing the contract and the plan over lunch. Now, here I am waiting for him to arrive. There is a man in black reading newspapers in the corner with a cup of coffee, I assume. He lowers the newspaper to pick the cup of coffee, he looks familiar to me. I have seen him somewhere but where? I look at him for a few more seconds then shift my gaze to the couple sitting at two tables to my left because I don’t want to look like a creep. The girl is laughing about something the guy is saying and their han
Just as I was about to avert my gaze a car zoomed past us. It was surprising to see another car on the same road as us. This route only led to the mansion and hardly any cars passed this route. The mansion was now in full view, it was standing in its full glory with light shining from the insides of the mansion. The gates opened as our car came close by and we passed through them to the porch of the mansion.I looked at my watch and the time was now five minutes to nine. I hadn’t realized that I was twenty-five minutes late from the time Austin had ordered me to come back. I walked in confidently, the mansion was eerily quiet- not a single sound except for the sound of my heels clicking. The lights were switched on but not a single soul was seen around. This was not the usual, it was almost dinner time and not a single worker was spotted.I walked to the kitchen to see if there was anyone in there but surprisingly I found that empty as well. I looked around once
I watch as the clouds come in my view and the land below me shrinks and shrinks. The view is breathtaking from this height. I look out of the window until the plane tilts to the other side and I can no longer see the land but the sky and the setting sun.I look at the figure sitting in front of me with a glass of wine in his hands and looking at me but his mind seems somewhere else. I wave in front of my face but he does not respond nor blink. I don’t know what he is thinking. I mentally shrug and let him.I don’t know what Autin has seen in me that he claims me to be his. I don’t know if he is playing with me or if he is serious. I wouldn’t mind if he isn’t serious but my heart does not support my thoughts, they go against them. I don’t despise it when he claims me to be his. I don’t hate it when he gets possessive and controls me and my actions.I don’t know what he is doing to me. There are many things I want to
“Here is your coffee, Sir,” I said and he looked up, narrowing his eyes.“Sorry, Austin. Here is your coffee, Austin,” I repeated and kept his coffee on his desk right next to papers. “So, what are you doing?” I sat down in one of the vacant chairs in front of his desk.“I’m thinking of letting the deal go,” He said, then he explained it further, “The deal with the Knights,” He said. He can’t let that happen. This is the deal the Jones require and if they get this deal my plan would fail; all the hard work I have done till now will be of no use. Austin was blankly staring at me as if he was in his thoughts but his eyes were trained on me.“Austin, I think you should work with them. Our company will gain a lot from this. It’s a million-dollar deal and we will be able to expand our business all over Italy and other countries. We will get many opportunities if we sign this deal and
It has been a few months since Dimitri was born. Six months to be precise. Dimitri is six months old. Time flies by so quickly. His cute laughter floats throughout the bathroom. His small chubby cheeks turn red from the lack of air intake. I am trying to clean him after he spilled his porridge all over his baby seat along with his clothes. He is very chubby, cute, and sweet. I can go on and on and on about him. My son is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He has my eyes but looks like the baby version of Austin. He is the mixture of both Austin and me. Speaking of Austin, he has looked lost for the past few weeks. I don’t know what is going through his mind and he wouldn’t speak about it if I probed him. That has me thinking that a situation might have occurred at his workplace. He has to handle numerous legal and illegal acts. Something might have happened that has absorbed his attention completely. He has George working under him and he assists him with everything Austi
Could that be Austin? I walked outside the room while tying my robe around my waist; I spotted a large looming figure strutting up the stairs. I could not see who it was but the unique cologne of my dear husband gave him away. “Did you bring what I asked you to?” I asked him. He nodded and then was enveloped in a hug. “Yes, I did. Are you sure about that?” “I think I am pregnant,” I stated. “Come on, let's check. I am exhilarated,” We went through the instructions given and did the procedure the exact way they have instructed. He had bought three different tests and we tested them all. It was just the wait we had to do. Till we waited Austin kept on talking about how he will upgrade the security around the house. He also said that he will work from home now to take care of my needs. He is really jubilant. The wait was very long but it was worth it. I was in fact pregnant. One of the tests also mentioned that I was three months pregnant. We were going to become a family soon. W
Annabella's Point Of ViewIt's been a month and a half, and Austin and I are enjoying our time together. He gives me his complete time. He listens to me when I have to say something, and takes care of me when I am feeling a bit down. I remember how he cancelled his meeting with a few weapon traders just to take care of me when I was feeling unwell. Once, I had been throwing up in the morning after our night out. He had taken me to a posh restaurant to make up for me for not having lunch with me after promising he would. He had been adamant to call the doctor but I convinced him not to. He reluctantly agreed but did not leave the house for the rest of the day. There have been rainbows and sunshine for the past few weeks. Those rainbows and sunshine came after the storm and I don’t mind it. It has been worth it. I love him and I know he loves me too. I love the way he looks at me from the corner of his eyes. I love when he stares at me during breakfast and dinner. I just love him so m
I awoke when I felt something piercing my arm. It was a needle. I looked around me to see Austin sitting beside me and a female doctor injecting me.“How are you feeling?” Austin asks.“I am good. Nothing happened to me,” I say. He rolls his eyes then looks back at me.“You fainted and must be lying on that ground probably for a few hours,”“Yeah, I fainted. It might be because I skipped lunch,” I say. Austin glares at me.“You shouldn’t have skipped your lunch, Mrs Volkov. Your body needs proper nutrition and skipping lunch can lead to such incidents. I would recommend you to not skip any meal of the day and-” she tears the paper from her notepad and hands it to me, “-here are the medicines that you are required to take for a week. You don’t have to worry about anything, you fainted because of the lack of nutrition in your body. Please take care,” The doctor says a
I was dragged all the way from the foyer to his bedroom. I was crying, begging him to stop but my wails were heard upon deaf ears. He lugged me into his bedroom and hurled me over the bed.“Stop!” I hollered. He did not listen as usual and started tearing apart my clothes. My blossoms were bare and in his view. He did not even look me in the eye and ravished me like a beast he was. These past few days I have let him do what he wanted. He tortured, pleasured and played with my body and I did not dare to utter a word of disobedience. Today was something else. This was not because I wanted it was because he was punishing me for going against him.I accepted my fate when he used me just for pleasure. I wanted it. I was attracted to him, I am still attracted to him even after those hurtful words he said earlier today. I hate myself. I do not have control over my feelings and can’t help myself. I feel useless.Austin devoured and ravished my b
“Why haven’t you eaten your lunch?” He asked.“I did not feel hungry,” I said then closed my eyes pulling the comforter close to my body.“What do you mean ‘you did not feel hungry’?” He asked. Seriously?!“How come you are the leader of the Russian Mafia and do not know what a simple statement like that means?” I asked while stifling my laughter. He glared at me then walked towards the tray and sat on the bed in front of me with the tray. He without a second thought picked up the spoon with the creamy goods in it and brought it forward to my mouth. I parted my lips to engulf the spoon with my mouth but when I started to chew on the food I again felt the urge to vomit.I sprinted towards the washroom and emptied my stomach in the toilet bowl. Austin held my hair back while his other hand rubbed my back to ease the uneasiness. After washing my mouth I sat on the bed while Austin sceptically
I never thought I would get married to a beast, a monster. I never thought I would be caged in my room right after my marriage. I never thought I would hate my husband from the very bottom of my heart just like I thought I would love him. I never thought he would treat me like a mistress yet he did treat me like one.I was nothing but a person who satisfied his needs. There is a label to the relationship between us but there is nothing like it. Husband and wife is a beautiful relationship that has no bounds of love in it but here my relationship with my husband started with pain and ended with pleasure.I loathe the way my body reacts to his touches. It is just overwhelming to ensure that your body likes the touches of a person you abhor. His touches burn my skin yet I like it. His kisses bruise my lips yet I like it. He uses me like a person uses a handkerchief- uses it then keeps it away then again uses it then keeps it away. That is what my life has been for the pas
“I have never done this to any woman before. You are the first and will be the last to ever experience this from me, Ella,” He stated. Something like this wasn’t expected from a powerful man like him. He is handsome, powerful, a man with status, who wouldn’t fall at his feet? I thought women loved wealth and power. Didn’t anyone try to seduce him? Didn’t he get seduced?“I was saving my first experience with the only person I want to spend my whole life with. I have waited years to be with you and I will never let this go. It wasn’t easy to ignore those women who were greedy enough to give their precious things to some stranger,” He said, then trailed kisses down my jaw to my collar bone.“I have waited and will keep waiting for you to fully surrender to me, Ella. Now is the time to back out but once the deed is done I will not let you back out. Remember that,” He looked into my eyes searching for confir
Before the unholy matrimony, I felt devoted to something in life. I had an aim, a goal to accomplish but now I don’t. It is very weird to sit free all day because I have never sat free. I always had something to do; my first two to three years without Isabella were hell. I lived with Drake and his family but I felt like I was a burden on them. I was emotionally alone and tried to fight the demons within me to stay sane. The next few years without her were much better than the first few years. I had enough money to rent a small place and train myself for this. I started to get in touch with shady people to reach Austin. It was hard to make them trust me but I did. I climbed each step as slow as a snail and went through the hardships to gain their trust. Then with Drake's acquaintances, I started to get to know more people and finally, I killed Jaden- Austin’s previous second in command.Jaden was a cheater. He cheated Austin by keeping an allia
