SCARLETT

My phone beeped with a text, I took it out of my bag and it was from Myla.

-22, Pine Falls. 10:00pm-

The text read. I paused and responded.

-What about Arthur? We need to protect him at all cost-

-He has moved to the house you secured for him. I’ll make sure his safe- she texted back. I sighed deeply and tucked my phone inside my bag as I headed inside. Hopefully they don’t act funny and play by the rules because I know them well enough to know that they don’t play by the rules.

I know my mother has always wanted to be affiliated with the Alpha family by all means. Which is why I thought I was lucky when Alex called me his mate, I had thought my mother would finally look at me with the exact same eyes she looked at Alyssa with.

I had thought she would begin to treat me better, but then I realized that she hated me even more than I could imagine.

Because when she found out it was me who was mated to the Alpha, she connived with Alyssa to seduce Alex and get him to marry

SCARLETT That’s same Night. 10:00pm “Come in,” Myla muttered to me. I looked up at the very modest one storey building, one would almost think there’s no house on this side of the pack. I nodded slowly at her, as she led me in, taking off her footwear at the entrance and I had to do the same. The interior of the house was as unkempt as the exterior although neatly arranged. It looked like they packed in in a hurry, like they didn’t wait for the house to be completely finished before they moved in.“Myla!” A more matured voice called from the inside and I looked up at her immediately.“Yes Mom. It’s me. Come out, we have a visitor!” She called out in reply. She slowly turned to me rubbing her hands on her thigh.“Please sit,” she muttered taking a seat herself.“You live here?!” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper and she nodded slowly.“Not by choice though. They’d take us out if they find out we’re still alive” she said. My brows narrowed as I propped forward. “What are you

SCARLETT NEXT MORNING“Mom, please don’t do this to me! Please, I’m begging you!” I sobbed, her hands tightening like a vice around my neck. “After everything I’ve done to give you a better life, to give us a better life, you think I’ll let you throw it all away?” she snarled, her grip growing even more suffocating. I reached to her hands struggling to free myself, but there was not much my ten year old fingers could do.“Please! I’m begging you!” My cries broke through the suffocating air, but her eyes only darkened with rage. Her fingers dug into my skin, and I felt my breath slipping away. A small whimper echoed behind us. My mother’s movements froze, and her head snapped toward the sound. I turned my eyes, gasping for air, and saw her gaze narrow on a girl about my age standing behind us. The girl trembled, her wide eyes filled with terror. The moment she locked gazes with my mother, she let out a scream , turned around and stormed away. My mother hissed, her lips curling

SCARLETT Later that Day. “Clean your mouth! You lie a lot!” I teased Callum elbowing him playfully and we both bursted out laughing. “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” He mumbled raising his hands briefly in surrender before reaching forward to push the door open for me to step out. We just finished a meeting with the shareholders at my father’s company and formally introduced me as the new chairperson to them and trust my mother to be on her last nerve as all that happened. “You said you came here for me, turned out you came because of the shareholders meeting!” I muttered as we made our way to the car. He chuckled loudly and I raised the corner of my lips in a sneer at him. “That’s what the dictionary calls coincidence honey,” he said and I raised my nose at him. “I hear you,” he gently reached forward, grabbed the handle of the door knob open for me to step in.“Easy my Queen,” he muttered as I stepped into the car and I couldn’t help but smile. As soon as I got in,

Two Hours Later. Willow Brooke.CALLUM “Luna,” Nolan Muttered with a small bow as soon as we arrived the location he sent us. She responded with a small nod and I closed the door behind her. All three of us turned to look up at the building in front of us. The building wasn’t on an abandoned road, rather it was along a very busy road but if you do not look close enough, you could miss the tiny path that led to this place. Kael must have done a good job making this place his hideout.“This place is surrounded already, there’s no way he’s escaping, I’ve reached out to Kian too, he’s on his way” Nolan said to me and I nodded slowly.“How did you get this place?!” I asked.“It was an anonymous tip off with video evidences,” he said to me.“What are we waiting for, let’s go in!” Scarlett said, I turned to her and nodded firmly.“Stick with me,” I muttered and with that, we made our way inside the house. I stealthily walked into the house with Nolan and Scarlett trailing behind me, my eye

SCARLETT Later in the Night. 10:45pmCallum and Kian stood side by side beside each other in front of the grave where Kael had just been buried. I, Amy, Nolan and Annabeth stood next to each other and behind them, we were all dressed in black, Callum and Kian held onto themselves tightly. It was the first time I’ve seen both of them cry. Callum especially, it was very obvious that he loved his brother very much even with their differences. It’s just so painful how it takes death to make us realize how much we love and how much we should have shown it while they’re still alive. My grip around Amy’s hands tightened, It was Kian I pitied the most, I know how bad I felt when my father died, I can’t even try to imagine how he must be feeling, dealing with the loss of his twin for that matter. The burial had ended few minutes ago, but Kian and Callum decided to stay back and we just could not leave without them. Amy tugged lightly at my hand and I slowly turned and looked down at her

CALLUM Next Day."Track the number that sent the address—I want to see who it belongs to," I said, my tone firm as I looked at Nolan. He turned to face me, his brows narrowing slightly in confusion."Why would you want to do that? What does it have to do with everything we're dealing with right now?" he muttered lowly.I sighed, settling into the chair behind my desk. Crossing my legs, I leaned back slightly, my expression calm but my hands balled into a fist. "Think about it. I never released an official announcement saying Kael was missing, nor did I ask for help finding him. Even the Elders are not aware that we suspect Kael or that we’ve been searching for him."Nolan's frown deepened, but he stayed silent, waiting for me to continue."But this person knew—somehow, they knew we needed to find Kael urgently. Don’t you think that’s suspicious? I refuse to believe whoever tipped us off is completely innocent." I paused, meeting his gaze. “The text said, ‘I last saw him there’ but

SCARLETTLater, 5:00pm Annabeth slowly disengaged from our hug, she stepped back, and I smiled at her. I just got back to pick a few things to visit the orphanage with, I called her to meet up with me, so we’d go together. “I didn’t realize I could miss you this much,” she mumbled and my smile widened. “I know right. I called you quite a number of times but you weren’t always available,” I said as I slowly took her hand and we turned and began to walk out of the pack house. She sighed deeply as she rolled her eyes to the back of her head. “My phone and I, we’re not very good friends. Even now I don’t think I took it with me when I left the house,” she said, I chuckled lightly and shook my head slowly.“You still haven’t changed,” I said and she raised her brows tilting her head slightly to the side. “I’ll be more mindful of it now,” she said. “Should I put all of it in?” A maid asked softly and we turned to her simultaneously. “Yes please, have other people join you to put eve

SCARLETTAt the orphanage. “Luna, it’s an honor to have you here. I’m Brenda, the matron of the orphanage.” An elderly but neat looking woman introduced herself to me with a warm smile and a small bow.I returned the gesture with a warm smile, and Annabeth bowed slightly to her beside me. “Thank you, Brenda. It’s a pleasure to finally visit. I’ve been to other places asides here and I really wanted to see how you guys are doing,” “I’ve heard so much about the good work you’re doing here,” I said and she nodded with a small smile.“Thank you Luna,”“Come, I’ll show you around. The children will be thrilled to meet you.” She said gesturing for me to follow her.Annabeth and I trailed carefully behind her, The halls were lined with colorful drawings probably by the children because it didn’t seem professional at all and photographs of the children, their faces beaming with joy despite the circumstances that brought them here. It brought a smile to my face. “They’re beautiful,” I mu

SCARLETT “Thank you!” I said to the taxi driver immediately he got to the front of my house. I settled the bills, opened the door and got out. Just as I was about to enter the house, I heard a loud honking sound, only then did I realize there was a car packed by my house. I was so consumed in my thoughts to realize. I turned, the door slowly went open and I saw Callum step out of the driver seat with a big flower bouquet in his hands. I rolled my eyes to the back of my head as I stepped back, folded my hands across my chest and waited for him to make his way towards me. “My Queen,” he said as soon as he got closer to me and stretched the flowers to me. I raised my lips in a sheer.“Don’t call me that,” I mumbled and gently took the flowers from him. “I’m sorry, ““Honestly I had no idea why I didn’t tell you about it, I guess she’s just a part of my life I so desperately wanted to forget,”“Still not an excuse, you should have told me. I deserved to know, not just setting me up

DAY OF THE ANNIVERSARY Hours before the Anniversary ….SCARLETT “If you would just talk to him, he’s been trying for two days now,” Kaitlyn said to me, she was seated on my bed, while I was seated in front of the vanity mirror applying makeup. Cora and Alyssa had gone ahead to set things up and it was just me at home. I paused and slowly looked up at her through the mirror. “You don’t understand do you?!” I muttered and she sighed deeply. “He lied to me, he told me I was his first ..”“Knowing fully well that I wasn’t, that hurts like crazy,” I paused as she completed my statement for me. I rolled my eyes to the back of my head and resumed applying my lipstick, her phone dinged and I turned to her immediately,“Is that Myla?!” I asked immediately and she nodded slowly. “She’s on her way here,” she muttered and my shoulders slumped. “No other thing?” I asked as I closed the lipstick and replaced it in my drawer. “You really don’t want to know the answer to that,” she mumbled, I

SCARLETT Later that day … “I’ve sent Kian’s location to you, Kaitlyn says he’ll be there for a while, since my mother has me already, he’s making an attempt on Callum’s life,”“I’ll update you as she updates me,” I said to Myla over video call and she nodded slowly.“Is Cora still looking for me? Do you think I should take my mother away so she doesn’t find her?” She asked, I bit on my lower lips and nodded slowly. “I’ll take care of your mom don’t worry,” I said to her and she nodded with a small exhale.“Thank you,” she whispered and I nodded slowly. “The anniversary ceremony will hold in two weeks, I plan for us to get our facts right and expose my mother on that day, I’d do it when it’s time for me to give my speech,” I said to her and she nodded slowly. “I’ll keep Callum in the loop,”“Do you still not want me to tell him the truth?” She asked and I shook my head slowly. “I think it’s best I tell him myself, I’ll find a way before the anniversary, just so he’s not caught of

SCARLETT NEXT DAY. At the hospital. “Here’s the result,” I slowly took the envelope from the doctor and stretched it out to Kaitlyn,“Will you open it?!” I asked, she swallowed hard and slowly took the envelope from me. I watched as she tore the envelope open with shaky hands. She slowly dipped her hands inside it and took out the white paper in it. Her gaze fell on it and her eyes went tightly shut.“What does it say?!” I asked my voice barely about a whisper.“It’s a hundred percent match.” The doctor supplied immediately.“Although something is surprising, the report says that you both are identical twins sharing the same parents, it doesn’t seem that way to me,” he added and I nodded firmly at his words.“I understand this is your office, but please can you give us a minute? I need to talk to her,” I said and he nodded slowly. “Sure,” he muttered and with that he pushed his chair backwards, got up and walked out. I exhaled deeply and the next thing I heard was Kaitlyn whimperi

CALLUM Later ….“His name is Marcus. He’s been Cora’s accomplice for the longest time,”“He has been helping her make all the potions that makes her execution seamless. He’s also Alyssa’s real father” Myla said to me, my gaze intensely on the building in front of us and I nodded slowly. “I’ve been seeing him for some weeks now, he has helped Scarlett and I a great deal,”“When I spoke to him today, Cora found out that he has been seeing me, I know she’s going to do something to him, this is my chance to make him escape her,” she said. “I’m only doing this because it’s what Scarlett would have wanted, and you should know, he most definitely won’t go Scott free,” I said to her and she nodded slowly. “I understand that. We just need him to be alive as our witness,” she responded, with that we both stepped out of the car and I headed towards the door. I insisted Nolan stayed behind with Annabeth while we settle this quickly. As soon as we got to the entrance I tried to open the door

SCARLETT “Scarlett!” My mother yelled as she forcefully pushed the door open and barged in.“Scarlett!” She yelled even louder. With shaky hands I slowly pushed the closet door open and peeked out. “Mom?!” I whispered, I saw her pause and slowly turn to me. I slowly opened the door fully and stepped out limping. “M-y—Myla, she tried to kill me?” I stuttered as I stretched out the wrist I had stabbed myself in to her. Her eyes widened almost immediately and she stepped closer to me. “She did this to you?!” She asked, I nodded firmly, winced pretentiously and stepped away when she tried to touch the hand. “She — she came here, plugged in, like she was being controlled by what she was listening to, I couldn’t even defend myself because I don’t have a wolf.” I said, she stiffened and slowly looked up at me. “You don’t have a wolf?!” She whispered and I nodded slowly. “I don’t remember ever having a wolf? Did I develop one in the last Eight months?!” I asked, she swallowed hard and

SCARLETT I watched as she froze over her hands gripping the door knob tightly. I wiped my tears dry and dropped the picture onto the space beside me. “Kaitlyn Pierce, my twin but we were born two hours apart which practically makes me your older sister,” I continued my voice barely above a whisper but loud enough for her to hear me. “Kaitlyn Pierce , you swore never to get married because you were scared of how badly Father treated mother, but you never said a word of it out, you told just me because you knew mother would freak out if you ever mentioned a word of it,” “Shut up!” She growled as she turned the door knob locked and swiftly dashed to me.“How did you find out so much about me! Since when have you been stalking me! Who did you pay to find out about me!” She growled in my face. I didn’t flinch, I just kept staring at her.“We were the HK twin from silvery Island, we were a force and we were unstoppable even at our young age. I was the stubborn one and you were the peace

TWO DAYS LATERCORA “What the hell Kian! After I told you to leave her to me!” I growled, my eyes on Scarlett who was lying almost lifeless on her bed in her room. Her head was wrapped in thick bandages. She looked pale white and her lips was very red. “You even had the mind to bring her here? Where do you think is the first place they’ll try to look for her?!” I asked turning to Kian where he stood by the foot of the bed. Alex was seated by her vanity table and the new girl Kian came with — Kaitlyn, stood by the other side of the bed. She had a look of strong hatred for Scarlett as she stared at her on the bed, I don’t know why but I just have an unsettling feeling around her. “You should even be thanking me for saving her life, left to Kaitlyn, she would have been dead!”“Don’t worry about them looking for her here, they’re probably caught up with looking for her in the alliances surrounding that ocean” I said to her. I slowly turned to look at Alex,“You should thank me, I wan

Trust me, we’ll get the job done,” he said. I passed him a long stare and shook my head slowly.“I want to be there, so I can be sure you’re doing your jobs thoroughly,” I muttered. Just then, Gina walked into the living room with her hands behind her. “Callum, there’s something I need to tell you,” she mumbled. “Gina, please hold on, now is not the time, I’m actually very busy,” I rushed my words without sparing her a glance. I slowly bent and reached for Scarlett’s clothes folded on the floor. “Incase you might want to send those scent trained wolf to sniff her out,” I muttered handing over the bag to him. “Kian is not dead,” she said. I paused and slowly turned to look at her. “What are you talking about?!” “R-remember that —that night? When I said he didn’t find me ? It was a lie, he found me,” she stuttered s
