CORA

“Can you please just explain what the hell is going on?!” Alex’s voice thundered through his living room.

“You asked me to trust you, to follow your plan, and now—” He jabbed a finger toward me, his eyes blazing crimson red with anger.

“Now it seems like you don’t even know what the hell you’re doing!”

I watched him silently, sitting still as he paced back and forth in front of me, his hands running through his disheveled hair in frustration. I slowly uncrossed my legs and set the wine glass in my hands on the table beside me. Rising to my feet, I fixed him with a cold stare.

“You said you confirmed Scarlett was dead!” He growled his fists clenched at his sides.

“How the hell is she back in our lives? And now she even has her wolf? What if she’s got her memories back? What if—” His words cut off abruptly as his voice rose to a roar.

“What if she remembers everything?!”

“Shut the hell up!” I snapped, my tone sharp and firm.

“Why?!” He took a threatening step closer, his face

Your mother knows better than to try anything funny,” he said and I nodded slowly again. “Thank you so much. I really appreciate all your effort.” I said to him, he shook his head slowly as he gently raised his hands to my shoulders. “Your father was my immediate younger brother and I know he absolutely adored you. Now that he’s gone, it’s my responsibility to make sure you’re safe,” he said to me and I nodded, slowly folding my hands behind me.“Thank you,” I whispered. He smiled and nodded firmly at me before he turned and headed towards his car. Immediately he left, my phone began to ring, I took it out of my pocket as I turned and headed back inside the house. It was a call from Callum.“Hi honey,” I greeted with a small smile as soon as I answer

SCARLETT Later that Evening.“Who is the lender?!” I heard my mother yell at Myla in the living room, from my room. “I-I advised her to invest, I didn’t know she was going to use her shares as collateral,” Myla stuttered in reply. “That’s not my question Myla! I said who is the lender! Who did the shares go to!” I heard her yell again. A moment of silence followed and Myla’s voice came again. “I-I don’t know ma’am” she muttered.“Well find out! I don’t pay you heavily to not know! It’s your job to find out!” “Yes, yes ma!” I heard Myla say, followed by shuffling of feet and then the sound of the door going shut. I slowly pushed myself off the door, as I crossed the room and sank onto the edge of my bed. I reached for my phone in my back pocket and dialed Callum’s number. The dial tone filled the silence, each ring echoing in my ears as I waited patiently for him to pick up. No answer. I tried again, and again, but it was the same outcome, no reply. With a deep sigh, I swiped

CALLUM NEXT DAY “Oh Kian. Thank you for coming!” I said to him as soon as he pushed the door to my office open and walked in.“When I saw your call, I just knew I have to be here. What’s going on?!” He asked as he settled into the chair behind him. “There are some things I need to tell you, I wanted to get my fact right before bringing it up to you” I said to him and he nodded slowly urging me to go on. “I have another biological brother,” I said to him. He furrowed his brows at me blinking rapidly as he leaned closer to me. “I don’t think I understand you,” he muttered, I sighed and began to get into details, explaining every single thing to him. He just sat there staring at me with his lips slightly apart. “So, Mother had another son that wasn’t you?! And he was human and now a wraith wolf?!” He asked immediately I was done talking and I nodded slowly. “Now he thinks he’s the rightful Alpha and he’s been the one causing troubles?!” He asked again and I nodded. “Goodness Cal

CALLUMLater that night ..“These are the only functioning surveillance cameras in the area,” Nolan said to me as he led me inside community control unit. I stood by the door and the staff there turned to greet me with a bow.“We’re sorry, but most of the cameras in that particular area is not functioning,” Someone, who appeared to be the head said to me.“Why the hell are the cameras not working and nobody thought to let me know!” I thundered, my angry voice taking up the whole space. They shook in fear with their head faced down. “Now is not the time Callum, Relax,” Cole muttered at the back of my mind. My hands balled into a fist beside me, I exhaled deeply and nodded slowly as their head bowed to me again, he gestured and led me towards a bigger screen. The video began playing, shadows flickering across the screen. Suddenly, two silhouetted figures stepped out of the dark. My hand shot forward almost immediately, pausing the video. I slowly zoomed in, the figures sharpening int

SCARLETT Next Day “Focus on your press conference, My Queen. Let’s talk when you get back,” Callum said over the phone. I slowly set my lipstick down and turned to face the camera. “Okay, Honey, I’ll call you once I’m done,” I replied softly.“You look absolutely stunning, My Queen,” he said, his words melting into me like warm honey. A wide smile spread across my face as I gently pushed my chair back and stood up.“Really?” I muttered, giving a small twirl in front of the camera, showing him the full outfit. His light chuckle echoed through the line, but even then, I caught the unsettleness in his eyes. He was trying to cover it, but I knew him too well. I know he doesn’t want me to worry about him, but he’s quite worried himself. I sighed deeply, leaning closer to the camera. “Everything will be fine, Alpha Callum. I can tell you categorically that you’re the strongest Alpha I’ve ever met. You’ve got this. Don’t worry, you’ll find him,” I said, my voice firm but reassuring. He b

  • A LUNA ON CONTRACT    Chapter 47

SCARLETTI stepped out of the office and slammed the door shut behind me, my chest heaving with suppressed anger. My footsteps echoed through the empty hallway as I moved forward, my mind racing. Then I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. I looked up and froze. Alex. My heart skipped a beat as a vivid memory flashed through my mind: his hands wrapped tightly around my throat, as he painfully rejected me. That had been the most painful moment of my entire life. Seeing him again like this, the pain resurfaced, but slightly less painful. I swallowed hard, forcing myself to move, but instinctively took a step back. His lips curved into a smirk as he changed his direction, obviously from my mother’s office and headed straight for me. I sauntered backwards further, until my back finally hit the wall softly.“You’re really not a ghost, are you?” he drawled, gazing down on me, irritation very evident in his eyes. His eyes raked over me as if I were an unwelcome intruder in his ter

CORA Alyssa stood at the center of attention, radiating elegance in her pearl-encrusted gown. Ofcourse I do not expect anything less, I dressed her up myself and picked out everything she was putting on.The ceremonial Alpha betrothed crest was embroidered on her sash, a visible promise of the power and prestige that awaited her — that awaited Us! My heart swelled with pride where I sat in my stunning ball dress as my gaze swept the event hall. Everything had fallen into place, just as I’d planned, asides from Scarlett who came from nowhere to almost ruin my plans.I smoothed the fabric of my emerald gown, my fingers grazing my diamond necklace. I tugged at Myla’s hands and she slowly leaned closer to me.“Where is she?!” I asked, loud enough for only her to hear.“She’s on her way back to Willow Brooke,” she responded and I nodded firmly. Better. She came here to ruin things for me, now I have to start picking up the pieces. Alex stood tall at the altar, regal in his ceremonial rob

SCARLETTMy phone beeped with a text, I took it out of my bag and it was from Myla. -22, Pine Falls. 10:00pm- The text read. I paused and responded.-What about Arthur? We need to protect him at all cost--He has moved to the house you secured for him. I’ll make sure his safe- she texted back. I sighed deeply and tucked my phone inside my bag as I headed inside. Hopefully they don’t act funny and play by the rules because I know them well enough to know that they don’t play by the rules.I know my mother has always wanted to be affiliated with the Alpha family by all means. Which is why I thought I was lucky when Alex called me his mate, I had thought my mother would finally look at me with the exact same eyes she looked at Alyssa with. I had thought she would begin to treat me better, but then I realized that she hated me even more than I could imagine. Because when she found out it was me who was mated to the Alpha, she connived with Alyssa to seduce Alex and get him to marry

SCARLETT “Thank you!” I said to the taxi driver immediately he got to the front of my house. I settled the bills, opened the door and got out. Just as I was about to enter the house, I heard a loud honking sound, only then did I realize there was a car packed by my house. I was so consumed in my thoughts to realize. I turned, the door slowly went open and I saw Callum step out of the driver seat with a big flower bouquet in his hands. I rolled my eyes to the back of my head as I stepped back, folded my hands across my chest and waited for him to make his way towards me. “My Queen,” he said as soon as he got closer to me and stretched the flowers to me. I raised my lips in a sheer.“Don’t call me that,” I mumbled and gently took the flowers from him. “I’m sorry, ““Honestly I had no idea why I didn’t tell you about it, I guess she’s just a part of my life I so desperately wanted to forget,”“Still not an excuse, you should have told me. DAY OF THE ANNIVERSARY Hours before the Anniversary ….SCARLETT “If you would just talk to him, he’s been trying for two days now,” Kaitlyn said to me, she was seated on my bed, while I was seated in front of the vanity mirror applying makeup. Cora and Alyssa had gone ahead to set things up and it was just me at home. I paused and slowly looked up at her through the mirror. “You don’t understand do you?!” I muttered and she sighed deeply. “He lied to me, he told me I was his first ..”“Knowing fully well that I wasn’t, that hurts like crazy,” I paused as she completed my statement for me. I rolled my eyes to the back of my head and resumed applying my lipstick, her phone dinged and I turned to her immediately,“Is that Myla?!” I asked immediately and she nodded slowly. “She’s on her way here,” she muttered and my shoulders slumped. “No other thing?” I asked as I closed the lipstick and replaced it in my drawer. “You really don’t want to know the answer to that,” she mumbled, I

Do you think I should take my mother away so she doesn’t find her?” She asked, I bit on my lower lips and nodded slowly. “I’ll take care of your mom don’t worry,” I said to her and she nodded with a small exhale.“Thank you,” she whispered and I nodded slowly. “The anniversary ceremony will hold in two weeks, I plan for us to get our facts right and expose my mother on that day, I’d do it when it’s time for me to give my speech,” I said to her and she nodded slowly. “I’ll keep Callum in the loop,”“Do you still not want me to tell him the truth?” She asked and I shook my head slowly. “I think it’s best I tell him myself, I’ll find a way before the anniversary, just so he’s not caught of

SCARLETT NEXT DAY. At the hospital. “Here’s the result,” I slowly took the envelope from the doctor and stretched it out to Kaitlyn,“Will you open it?!” I asked, she swallowed hard and slowly took the envelope from me. I watched as she tore the envelope open with shaky hands. She slowly dipped her hands inside it and took out the white paper in it. Her gaze fell on it and her eyes went tightly shut.“What does it say?!” I asked my voice barely about a whisper.“It’s a hundred percent match.” The doctor supplied immediately.“Although something is surprising, the report says that you both are identical twins sharing the same parents, it doesn’t seem that way to me,” he added and I nodded firmly at his words.“I understand this is your office, but please can you give us a minute? I need to talk to her,” I said and he nodded slowly. “Sure,” he muttered and with that he pushed his chair backwards, got up and walked out. I exhaled deeply and the next thing I heard was Kaitlyn whimperi

CALLUM Later ….“His name is Marcus. He’s been Cora’s accomplice for the longest time,”“He has been helping her make all the potions that makes her execution seamless. He’s also Alyssa’s real father” Myla said to me, my gaze intensely on the building in front of us and I nodded slowly. “I’ve been seeing him for some weeks now, he has helped Scarlett and I a great deal,”“When I spoke to him today, Cora found out that he has been seeing me, I know she’s going to do something to him, this is my chance to make him escape her,” she said. “I’m only doing this because it’s what Scarlett would have wanted, and you should know, he most definitely won’t go Scott free,” I said to her and she nodded slowly. “I understand that. We just need him to be alive as our witness,” she responded, with that we both stepped out of the car and I headed towards the door. I insisted Nolan stayed behind with Annabeth while we settle this quickly. As soon as we got to the entrance I tried to open the door

SCARLETT “Scarlett!” My mother yelled as she forcefully pushed the door open and barged in.“Scarlett!” She yelled even louder. With shaky hands I slowly pushed the closet door open and peeked out. “Mom?!” I whispered, I saw her pause and slowly turn to me. I slowly opened the door fully and stepped out limping. “M-y—Myla, she tried to kill me?” I stuttered as I stretched out the wrist I had stabbed myself in to her. Her eyes widened almost immediately and she stepped closer to me. “She did this to you?!” She asked, I nodded firmly, winced pretentiously and stepped away when she tried to touch the hand. “She — she came here, plugged in, like she was being controlled by what she was listening to, I couldn’t even defend myself because I don’t have a wolf.” I said, she stiffened and slowly looked up at me. “You don’t have a wolf?!” She whispered and I nodded slowly. “I don’t remember ever having a wolf? Did I develop one in the last Eight months?!” I asked, she swallowed hard and

SCARLETT I watched as she froze over her hands gripping the door knob tightly. I wiped my tears dry and dropped the picture onto the space beside me. “Kaitlyn Pierce, my twin but we were born two hours apart which practically makes me your older sister,” I continued my voice barely above a whisper but loud enough for her to hear me. “Kaitlyn Pierce , you swore never to get married because you were scared of how badly Father treated mother, but you never said a word of it out, you told just me because you knew mother would freak out if you ever mentioned a word of it,” “Shut up!” She growled as she turned the door knob locked and swiftly dashed to me.“How did you find out so much about me! Since when have you been stalking me! Who did you pay to find out about me!” She growled in my face. I didn’t flinch, I just kept staring at her.“We were the HK twin from silvery Island, we were a force and we were unstoppable even at our young age. I was the stubborn one and you were the peace

TWO DAYS LATERCORA “What the hell Kian! After I told you to leave her to me!” I growled, my eyes on Scarlett who was lying almost lifeless on her bed in her room. Her head was wrapped in thick bandages. She looked pale white and her lips was very red. “You even had the mind to bring her here? Where do you think is the first place they’ll try to look for her?!” I asked turning to Kian where he stood by the foot of the bed. Alex was seated by her vanity table and the new girl Kian came with — Kaitlyn, stood by the other side of the bed. She had a look of strong hatred for Scarlett as she stared at her on the bed, I don’t know why but I just have an unsettling feeling around her. “You should even be thanking me for saving her life, left to Kaitlyn, she would have been dead!”“Don’t worry about them looking for her here, they’re probably caught up with looking for her in the alliances surrounding that ocean” I said to her. I slowly turned to look at Alex,“You should thank me, I wan

Trust me, we’ll get the job done,” he said. I passed him a long stare and shook my head slowly.“I want to be there, so I can be sure you’re doing your jobs thoroughly,” I muttered. Just then, Gina walked into the living room with her hands behind her. “Callum, there’s something I need to tell you,” she mumbled. “Gina, please hold on, now is not the time, I’m actually very busy,” I rushed my words without sparing her a glance. I slowly bent and reached for Scarlett’s clothes folded on the floor. “Incase you might want to send those scent trained wolf to sniff her out,” I muttered handing over the bag to him. “Kian is not dead,” she said. I paused and slowly turned to look at her. “What are you talking about?!” “R-remember that —that night? When I said he didn’t find me ? It was a lie, he found me,” she stuttered s
