AFTERMATH

Camilla's POV

When I stirred from my slumber the following day, pain wracked my body to an extent that had always seemed unimaginable. Waves of recollection surged forth from the previous evening, igniting new streams of tears in my eyes. Despite attempts at motion, muscles screamed out against all movement and even drawing breath felt like a herculean task. Shifting minutely, Blaine was revealed in his pensive stance by the window with his back facing me.

"My voice barely a whisper," I croaked, "Blaine." His face was unreadable as he turned around.

"Looks like you're up," he observed, strolling towards the bed. Lowering himself onto the mattress that jostled slightly under his weight, he carefully appraised my countenance and inquired, "How are you feeling?"

"I feel as though a truck has run me over," I answered truthfully. "May I know the reason behind your actions?"
