Shirley's bodyguards were following closely behind as the two girls; Shirley and Amelia walked down the corridor, heading towards the university's building exit.

Amelia couldn't help but notice the stares of admiration being passed to Shirley occasionally by other students, even lecturers. No one dared approach her though. Not with the bodyguards protectively following behind them.

"You know we have to lose them, right?" Amelia spoke in a voice almost a quiet whisper and Shirley turned to look at her, immediately knowing that she was referring to the bodyguards following them.

"You are witch. Can't you like make them drop asleep or something? Like you did to me, huh?" was Shirley's quiet comeback, her voice taunting.

Amelia first let out a soft chuckle before saying, "Of course I could but imagine them suddenly falling asleep behind us in front of all these students around us, would that be considered normal? Or are you planning on giving all these lovely students of this prestigio

Shirley first gave Amelia an incredulous look, and then drew a sharp breath before moving towards the car. When she got to it, she passed the smiling Amelia a quick glance before she proceeded to bend her body slightly, both her hands stretched out and reaching under the car to grip on it, and then she started to lift it, her eyes widening in shock as the car was lifted to the air easily. She turned to Amelia, excitement dancing in her eyes as she slowly put the car back down. It dropped down with a thud and Amelia frowned, rushing towards the car to check if any damage had been done to it. "It wouldn't kill you to be careful… Want to damage my car!" she exclaimed as she moved from one part of the car, to the other, checking it out frantically. "Says the girl who asked me to lift the car in the first place! And let's not forget, you did just throw a dagger at me!" Shirley retorted, glaring at Amelia. She really just didn't get the girl. She was frustrating as hell. Helpful yeah. But

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   MISSING HIM

"That feels good. Don't stop…" Shirley muttered as she felt his hands roaming all over her body. A moan preceded her words, and then his lips met hers, engaging it in a fierce kiss. His hands continued its movement still, touching every inch of her skin. His tongue continued to taste every inch of her mouth. Shirley felt like her body was on fire. She moved her hands to feel his broad chest. Damn! She had almost forgotten how it felt like. Just right... His mouth left hers and started to trail down her body, from her neck to her soft buds, down to her navel, and then finally he used his hand to spread her legs apart and his mouth moved down to her wetness to taste her. A moan escaped Shirley's lips when she felt his tongue down there. She even bit her lower lip in pleasure as he continued to move his tongue all around her wetness, teasing her. When his face moved away from her wetness, he leaned forward to inch his face towards hers, and then captured her mouth again, at the same ti

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   THE SOUR TASTE OF BETRAYAL

The duo, that is Shirley's father and Amelia ended their laughter as soon as Shirley's figure came into their view. Shirley's gaze first moved and rested on her father but she quickly averted her gaze from him to Amelia, not even returning the smile he offered her. She couldn't help but be surprised. Her father seldom laughed. She could count the number of times he had laughed since they lost her mother, his wife, with one hand. So what exactly had Amelia shown to him to make him laugh like he was doing until just a second ago? She couldn't help but be curious. Her eyes moved from Amelia to her father again, his face still had traces of laughter. "Hey dad, you were not home when I got back home yesterday so I assumed you were out of the country. You must have come back home this morning," Shirley said as she took a seat across where the duo were sitting together on a two-seater sofa. Although she was curious, she decided not to voice out her curiosity just yet. It was best she first

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   TRUCE

Taking deep breaths in successions, Shirley tried to calm down. She had also noticed the change in the colour of her eyes and knew it was because of how angry she was. She could feel her claws itching to come out. She knew she was gradually losing her cool. She continued taking deep breaths in succession until she felt calm return to her body. She fixed her gaze on Amelia, using the mirror in the car. "Does Max know?" Shirley asked, her voice now calm. "I don't know," came Amelia's low reply. She heaved in a deep breath, and then continued. "You know Max, although the government clearly didn't tell him, he most probably already knows. He is smart like that," Amelia said. Because Shirley's gaze was fixed on Amelia she noticed the light that shone in Amelia's eyes as she talked about Max. And it wasn't the first time she was noticing this. There was just this way Amelia's expression would usually soften when she talked about her boyfriend. Shirley wasn't naive. She could already te

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   HER THEORY

For the umpteenth time, Shirley squinted her eyes at the redhead standing in front of her, and then she moved her eyes to the paparazzi that the redhead had brought along with her as per Loretha's order. Not too far from where the paparazzi stood were the make-up artist, fashion designer and hair stylist that usually worked with Shirley. "Your fans haven't heard from you in quite a while. It will only be a short video shoot I promise, you just have to follow the script," Monique had a pained expression on her face as she tried to convince Shirley to do what Loretha had ordered. Shirley had no problem doing the short video shoot for her fans, it was a normal end of the week routine, what she had problems with was the fact that Monique's heart had jumped the moment she had stepped into the sitting room earlier, after being told by her maid Eva that her personal assistant Monique was around. Why had her heart jumped the moment she saw her? Was it anxiety? Guilt? Or was Monique just mere

Shirley's gaze on Amelia sharpened on hearing her words. "Is the news about Max?" she asked hopefully and sighed softly, disappointment dancing in her eyes, when Amelia shook her head in negation."It is about you actually…" Amelia paused as she noticed disinterest spread over Shirley's face but she continued speaking anyway, in the next minute."So after the accident that made you turn, Max asked me to dig into the events that led to it. About the envelope you received that night and about how they were able to know the exact place you were in order to make the accident happen. I am sure you must be curious about it too. So here is what I found out…"Shirley interrupted Amelia, "Monique my personal assistant is clearly working for the hunter and must have attached a tracking device to my car that night," she paused with a smirk, clearly enjoying Amelia's stunned expression, which didn't last ver long before becoming neutral.Shirley continued, "The Hunter clearly knew that I was boun

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   SHOT

It was the early hours of the evening. Shirley was still rummaging through her walk-in closet, looking for the appropriate outfit to wear to Alicia's tournament later that evening, when her phone beeped. She made her way to the dressing table right inside the closet, where the phone was and picked it up. She had just gotten a text message from Alex. She opened the message and it read: "Can't wait for tonight. Alicia will be so excited. I still haven't told her you will be gracing the tournament with your presence. Imagine how surprised she will be when she sees you." Shirley smiled and was about to start typing a reply when her phone beeped again. Alex had texted her again. It read: "I will pick you up in an hour and 30 minutes." There was a winking emoji at the end of the message. Shirley's smile widened. Some people never changed. She could feel his excitement even over the phone via his simple text messages. Even back then when they were still kids, Alexander had always been the

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   THE DECISION 1

Pacing about the hospital floor, the clacking sound Shirley's sneakers made with the tiled floor was the only sound that could be heard in the hospital's reception accompanied by Alexander's shaky breath, and of course his heart pounding erratically against his ribcage except only Shirley could hear it. Her mind was a chaotic mess. Memories of how Emily had died the day she was abducted played like a video in her head. She had been shot too. Just like how Alicia had been shot just a few minutes ago. Emily had died. Alicia wouldn't die too, right? Shirley's body crouched on the floor, her hand moving to tug a few strands of her chocolate brown hair, messing it up. Right now, Alicia was in the operating room. They were trying to save her life, the doctors. They would be able to save her, right? Alicia wouldn't die, right? "There you are," a voice rang out, cutting through the thick silence that had been ensuing in the reception. Shirley's head turned to the entrance to see Loretha and

Lucas Blakes seemed taken aback by Shirley's question so he didn't answer immediately. However, his expression turned sour as he too dropped his cutleries and leaned back on his chair, searching Shirley's eyes. "You were intimately involved with Max, so shouldn't you know? Didn't he tell you how he was sent by the government to spy on me and stop me from uncovering the truth about your mother's death? Did he not?" There was a certain heaviness with which Mr. Blakes spoke. Judging from how her father was speaking, Shirley could tell that he was expecting her to be surprised and even shocked by his sudden revelation about Max being a spy. So she feigned the reaction he was expecting. She knew her father well enough to know that he wasn't accusing her with his choice of words, he was simply revealing something to her. "Max was a spy sent by the government?" she asked, even lowering her voice so it was almost a whisper and pulling off a quite appalled expression on her face. He nodded

The smile Shirley wore proudly on her face was beginning to make her cheekbones hurt, still she kept the smile on her face as she kept posing for the camera. She was having a photo shoot session, modelling for a make-up brand of which she wasn't just a model but their spokesperson. The name of the makeup brand was, Glitters. "Let's take five," the director said to Shirley who nodded before moving away from the stage. Monique met her halfway, offering her a bottle of water, with the cap already off the bottle. "Thanks," she muttered to Monique and took a quick drink from the bottle before returning it to Monique who accepted it with a slight bow. Shirley moved her hands to massage her face, especially her cheekbones. "Get the last set of lipsticks, we are shooting that in 2," the director's voice rang out. Shirley knew that was her cue to go to the make-up artist so they could start trying the different shades of the last set of lipsticks on her, and then start shooting her, wearing

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   DRUNK SHIRLEY

It was quiet in the car as Amelia drove down the road until Shirley caught sight of a bar by the side of the road. "Pull the car over Amelia. Let's go there," she said to Amelia, pointing at the bar. Amelia sighed softly but she pulled the car over. She could use a drink herself. "I am getting drunk tonight," Shirley declared as she started to take off her seatbelt. "Wear this," Amelia said to Shirley, shoving a pair of sunglasses into her hands. "You are Shirley Blakes. There is nothing much this could do but it's better than nothing, wear it," Amelia urged. Shirley nodded slowly, and then put the sunglasses on. The two girls soon got out of the car, and then started for the bar. "I will have a shot of vodka please," Shirley said to the barman, a young handsome man, as she took a seat on one of the long stools by the bar counter. Amelia sat on another stool right next to her. The barman got started on Shirley's order, when he gave her the shot she gulped it all in one go. "

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   TOO LATE

Running on all fours, that is with both her hands and legs touching the ground, Shirley continued down the woods. She had used the route through the woods to the hospital as she couldn't quite run on all fours on the main roads. Not if she didn't want to cause a frenzy, she hadn't lost her rationality quite to that point. Amelia had tested Shirley's super speed during a few of their training session, how far she could go. Shirley could go faster than a speeding car. That was why she didn't bother to use a car. The thought that Max could already be on his way to kill her friends fueled her speed as she ran in the woods. Her eyes were a glowing blue, the fangs had grown out of her mouth, her claws were out too, her ears were a few inches longer... Shirley continued to race until she neared the hospital. Taking deep breaths in succession, Shirley stood on her two feet, and then started to dust off the mix of sand and grasses from her body and clothes. Her eye colour and ear size had retu

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   THE CONNECTION

"I don't understand, how can he not be human? And how the hell can you even tell?" Shirley asked. "I am a witch Shirley and witches can feel energy. Humans, werewolves, witches, every kind existing has energy unique to its kind," Amelia explained. "So is umm, Alexander a witch because he can't be a werewolf, if he was then his sister would be too and she would have most probably already healed from that bullet wound but she clearly hasn't, or is she a born wolf that hasn't turned yet, oh my God! Is that it?" Shirley blabbered, her gaze on Amelia intent. "Woah slow down Nation's Fairy, I did say he is something, didn't I? If he was a werewolf or a witch, I could have just said it point-blankly," Amelia pointed out. That's right, thought Shirley. "So what is he? Wait are there other kinds aside witches, werewolves and humans?" Shirley was astounded at the possibility. "Well, remember the time I mentioned gods existed?" Amelia asked and Shirley's eyes widened. "No way! Alex is a god

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   HE IS SOMETHING

The day went by very quickly, after Shirley's examinations for the day, she stopped by at the hospital to check on Alicia. There was a crowd of reporters and the paparazzi at the entrance of the hospital when Amelia and Shirley arrived. When Shirley and Amelia stepped out of the car they had driven to the hospital, the reporters and paparazzi swarmed around them. "Shirley Blakes, are you here to visit Alicia Gilbert?" "Are you two close friends?" "What can you tell us about the shooting?" "Do you know anyone who could have targeted Alicia Gilbert?" They bombarded Shirley with countless questions, flashing their cameras and microphones on her face. The escorts that always followed Shirley around, led by Amelia, swung into action helping Shirley easily weave her way into the hospital with a natural smile, while they kept the reporters back. ****** "How is she doing?" Shirley asked as she moved closer to Alicia's bed, her eyes watering up on seeing the tubes and machines attached

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   SPILLED BEANS

It was soon dawn and Shirley hurriedly prepared for school. Her first semester examinations started today and even though her life had taken a huge drastic turn in the past few weeks, Shirley was confident that she would do very well in the exams and this was because, not only had Shirley been studying hard prior to the examination period, she was plenty experienced in her field of study. She had been working in her father's company since she could remember anyway. He had taught her everything about the business sector that he knew. After the first semester examinations which was going to last for a week, there would be a two weeks break, and then after the break, the rest of the academic year would be spent doing her internship at her father's company. That was the arrangement. As Shirley stood in front of her dressing mirror, she heaved in a deep breath, closing her eyes. When she opened her eyes, the colour had changed from chocolate brown to a glowing blue. She smiled, and then

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   DOUBTS

Shirley was so immersed in her thoughts, Amelia noticed and that wasn't the only thing she noticed. Amelia could see some sort of turbulence playing in Shirley's chocolate eyes. "Is something wrong?" Amelia asked, taking light steps closer to Shirley and only stopping when there was just a small distance between them. Shirley's eyes blinked when Amelia spoke, and then she shook her head in negation, a little too quickly, compelling Amelia to furrow her eyebrows at her. "It's nothing," Shirley spoke in a tone so low, Amelia almost didn't hear her, and then she added, "We should go." "What happened to wanting to do everything within your power to help your friend?" Amelia asked with a raised eyebrow. She could tell that there was something Shirley wasn't telling her and she didn't like it. "I am helping her. At least we now have additional information about this person who shot my friend. The person had been in some other country until yesterday evening. And in that country, it had

  • A LIFETIME TOGETHER   HIS SCENT?

The cloud was still dark as the sun was yet to rise. Strong winds were blowing, compelling Shirley's hair to dance to its rhythm. Occasionally, a few strands of her hair would move to cover her face and she would have to hurriedly tuck them in behind both her ears. It was a futile move because it soon moved to cover her face again when the wind blew past her again, making her repeat the process of trying to tuck strands of her hair behind her ears. Shirley shuddered momentarily from the coolness of the early morning breeze that suddenly washed through her, and then she gripped both ends of her coat and zipped it all the way up. It had only been zipped halfway before. Her hair was all over her face again compelling a frustrated grunt out of her mouth, however, she did nothing about it anymore. "Picked up anything yet?" Amelia's voice sounded behind Shirley and the next thing Shirley knew the girl had moved to gather her hair in her hands, and then use a hair band she had fetched from
