Throughout the ride back home Cathy pretended to sleep. She didn't sit in the cockpit with Ted this time, instead, she opted for the cabin where she lay on the bed and tried to force her belly to stop churning. Squeezing her belly wasn’t helping.

Max had brought the car to the airport. She got into the front seat with Ted but once again pretended to sleep.

Ted knew she wasn’t asleep and he didn’t want to call her out on her pretense, it was for the best. After all, it made separation easier but when he pulled up at the gates of the Dark Storm mansion and waited for the gates to slide open, he couldn’t resist sliding his fingers beneath her hair and drawing her closer to his mouth.

"Cathy."

Her eyes flew open.

Cathy held her breath. She wanted nothing more than to kiss him and tell him she had the best time and would have loved to continue had their time together not been cut short.

But she held back. “No.”
