The first thing I heard after getting my senses back was the beeping of some machine. Blinking against the bright light, I opened my eyes. A silent groan left my lips at the pain that shot through my head as soon as I tried to move.
White walls. Blue curtains. A doctor stood at the corner of the room in her white uniform, explaining something to a nurse.
Hospital?
Why the hell I was in a hospital?
The pain in my head… Then memories from earlier the day rushed in. The court, Todd Samuelson and then the… accident!
Frantically, I tried to feel every inch of my body. Other than my head, thankfully everything seemed alright.
"Cassie! Oh thank God! I was getting crazy thinking why you aren't up yet!" Beth's voice snatched my eyes to the door.
With a cup of coffee in her hand, she rushed in. Only then the doctor noticed that I got my consciousness back.
"How are you feeling now, Miss. Brooks?"
Beth sat on the chair beside the bed.
"My head is throbbing," I croaked out.
"You have hit your head on the car window pretty hard. But don't worry. Luckily there are no internal injuries. But the pain will take a day or two to go away because you have a slight swelling on your head."
"I hope I don't look like a cartoon with a hump on her head," I mumbled.
She let out a chuckle.
"No, Miss. Brooks. You look fine. The swell isn't visible. Anyways, I'm giving you a pain killer and some meds. They will help you with the pain. And take rest. You need it."
As the doctor and the nurse left the room, I turned to Beth.
"Did I ruin your lunch date?"
Her hazel eyes rolled. "No, you didn't. We were just watching a movie when I got a call about your accident." A sigh left her. "Thank God, Mr. De Sylvano was there by a sheer coincidence and saw you. He brought you to the hospital immediately."
My heart skipped as at the mention of him.
That pair of intense icy blue eyes.
I couldn't see his face, but I knew whom those eyes belonged to. Those eyes were not something to forget.
Duncan De Sylvano.
The hot mysterious Italian billionaire.
The man who often knocked on my dreams for the past few months. Years to say. The man who saved me from falling from the stage five years ago. Whose unmoving gaze on that night was engraved on my mind.
My heart beat started to race without any reason. Stupid heart!
Don't forget he was the same man who had ignored you like a plague on every Valencian party you met!
My lips pressed tight.
"You should thank him, you know? He only left when I arrived and the doctor said that you were fine. That's so kind of him!" Beth's voice pulled me back from my wandering thoughts.
He stayed here for me for that long when he barely knew me other than his close friend's family friend?
I thought he hated me.
Well, I hated him too.
Except his eyes.
And sinful looks.
And…
Okay, stop it!
"Yeah, I will if he will talk to me."
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Nothing." Getting up, even with the throbbing in my head, I grabbed the coffee she brought.
"I hate it when you don't share things with us." She referred to my other best friend. Emerald Hutton, now a happy Valencian. "And that's my coffee."
"I tell you when it's important. And it's not," I said, taking a sip. It immediately warmed my senses.
"You should lie down. You had an accident!"
"I just hit my head. Not injured or dead."
Her gaze narrowed at me. "You're cranky today. Since this morning. What's up? I like my fun Cassie, you know?"
That brought a smile to my lips.
"Nothing. I was just stressed over the case."
Even if she and Em were the only people I could call my own, as my family, sharing my personal problems with them or anyone else never have been my thing. I wanted to, but I couldn't.
Because letting people in meant letting them peek into my past. And that was the last thing I wanted.
The door opened again, interrupting us.
Mason walked in with an awkward smile. Adjusting his glasses, he cleared his throat.
"Hey, Cassandra. How are you?"
I rolled my eyes, getting a slap on my arm from Beth.
"Be nice!"
"I don't like him."
My gaze fixed on Mason who shifted on his legs.
"Cassie!" She glared.
When I didn't apologize, an exasperated sigh left her.
"He has changed, Cassie. He clearly told his mom that he wants to be with me. Whether she likes it or not. And he is going to move in with me next month."
I raised my brows.
So he finally got some balls?
"You aren't gonna chicken out before your mom, will you?"
His shake of head was immediate. Walking closer, he put a hand on Beth's shoulder. "I love her. Yes, It took me some time to stand up for our relationship. But I realized that I can't stay without her. So I'm not letting her go whether my mom likes it or not. You can trust me with your best friend, Cassandra."
At the certainty in his voice, blush coated Beth's cheeks. Happiness sparkled in her hazel orbs.
A smile tugged on my lips. She has been through a lot in these past few months.
"As long as you don't hurt her, you're safe from my hands," I shrugged. "And you can call me Cassie from now on. Welcome to the family."
A relieved grin broke out on his boyish features. "Thank you! So you won't ditch any lunches or dinners if I'm attending from now on?"
I laughed, wincing at the same time from the pain. "What about hitting the club tonight?"
A gasp came from Beth. "Absolutely not! You're directly coming to my place and taking a rest as long as your head doesn't get better."
I waved her off. "I will take some painkillers. I will be fine. I put Todd behind the bars today, so I need some alcohol in my system to celebrate."
I needed to get wild to forget about everything. The break was needed.
"But…"
"You can come with me if you want. But I'm going, and that's final."
Her shoulders slumped. "I wish Em was here. She could put some sense into you."
She is six months pregnant now and currently in New York with her husband, Achilles Valencian, enjoying a short vacation. I was sure, if she got a sniff about it, she would run back here taking the next flight.
"It's good that you didn't inform her. Now get me out of this hospital."
Then something clicked in my head. The room I was staying in looked like it was made for some VIP. That Italian brought me to an expensive hospital, didn't he?
"God! The bill is going to empty my bank account!" I cursed under my breath.
Of course, that multi billionaire wouldn't go to a cheaper one. It would be against his prestige.
"Oh, don't worry about it. Mr. De Sylvano already sorted it out. You don't need to pay anything," chirped Beth.
I gaped.
He paid the bills for me?
But why?
That man was confusing me.
It seemed like It was time to meet him. Cassandra Brooks didn't keep anyone's favor.
***
"My my, is that Mr. Green I'm seeing here?"
The bartender in all black and lean body turned to me. Pale green eyes widened as soon as they landed on me.
"Cassie! What a pleasant surprise! When did you arrive?"
I was a regular visitor of the club he used to work at. I needed to get wild every other day to keep myself sane, though it was fun.
"Just now. When did you join this one?" My gaze roamed around the place. "Managed a lavish one this time."
"Yeah, I guess I got lucky. Just joined last week." Chuckling, he glanced over my shoulder and raised his brows.
I turned to Beth and her very uncomfortable boyfriend. Belonging from a conservative family, girls with barely dressed, intimate dancing between some couples and not mentionable doings at some corners put a look of constipation on his face.
But he didn't complain.
"This is Beth, my best friend. And that's Mason, her boyfriend. And guys, this is Pete."
"Hello, guys! Nice to meet you!" He greeted them with a polite smile. "So? What can I get for you people?"
"My regular."
He nodded. "Dirty Martini it is!"
"Same for me," said Beth, glancing at Mason. "And just a glass of orange juice for him please."
Nodding, Pete went to make our drinks.
After some glasses of Dirty Martini, much to Beth's dismay, I ordered another one. It was reaching to my head and I liked it.
A tall bulky man suddenly appeared beside me, his shoulders touching mine.
A smirk was next to come.
"What's up, babe?" Bloodshot eyes filled with lust roamed over me. Well, the tiny dazzling black dress that ended right on my mid thigh did grab a lot of attention around me. "Wanna dance?"
Irritation crawled up my skin. Men!
But instead of kicking his ass, I planted a sweet smile on my blood red lips. My favorite color.
His extremely strong perfume made me internally cringe.
"Sure, why not? But I'm a messy dancer, you don't mind, right?" I blinked twice, my voice dripped with seduction.
His eyes lit up. "Of course, I don't mind as long as I get to dance with a beauty like you."
I was never insecure with my features. With natural strawberry blonde hair, which I dyed into honey, amber eyes and the right amount of curves in the right places, many thought I was a born model. Compliments were a regular thing.
But honestly, I didn't get flutters in my tummy or blush when someone called me beautiful.
Because I hated it when someone called me that.
My thoughts got a break when that man gave me his hand. "Let's go."
Beth grabbed on my elbow. She shook her head, warning me.
But I just winked at her before walking away with that man.
Once reaching the dancing crowd, we started to shake our bodies with the beat even though my head pulsed. Loud music, flashing lights, drinks and dance. My temporary escape from reality.
And of course, hurting some men's ego and ruining their expectations, especially a man like this one, it felt good.
Coming closer, he put his hands on my hips. "You have got some good moves, babe."
"You think so?" I screamed over the music.
Nodding, as his hands slowly traveled to my butt, my heel not so mistakenly stepped over his feet.
"Oww! Fuck!" he let out a curse.
"Oh my! I'm so sorry! I told you I'm a messy dancer. Are you all right?"
He quickly recovered and pulled me closer. "No worries, babe. You can kiss the pain away if you want though."
I would have kissed him if he wasn't a dick and a low grade pervert.
Honestly, I didn't want to ruin my mood by kissing another new guy and not going anywhere. Because it never got past kissing and light touching.
My body didn't allow me.
Instead of feeling tingles and lust, the only thing I felt was… panic.
I had a good amount of boyfriends. But no one could take my V card yet. No one could make the feeling go away. No one attracted me enough to make me forget the world for some time. Forget myself.
I shook my head, taking a deep breath.
You're here to enjoy, remember, Cassie? So don't think about them.
"What say?" Breath that reeked of alcohol entered my senses.
Only then I realized how close he was to me. His lips hovered over mine.
No. I didn't want to disappoint myself again.
He came closer.
And before I could say no to him, he was suddenly snatched away from me.
And the next thing I knew was that pervert was groaning in pain with his hand covering his jaw. Before he could step away, he was held by his collar.
That guy's eyes went as big as saucers as they stared at the enraged man before him.
My heart skipped.
Duncan De Sylvano?
My lips parted in surprise at the scene before me.
With his hands tightly clutched around that drunkard's collar, his furious icy blue eyes cut him into pieces. He growled out something which I couldn't make out under the loud music. His sharp angular jaw clenched while his nostrils flared.
He was… furious.
The crowd around us stopped moving. All eyes were on the powerful man in the middle of the dance floor who was set to tear someone's limbs from limbs. Dramatic, yes. But it seemed like it.
I almost flinched as he raised his hand for the second time.
But before he could break that man's jaw, another man appeared on the spot and stopped him.
"Duncan, stop!" His shout reached my ears.
That drunkard clearly recognized who De Sylvano was as he profusely mumbled something. From the fear on his face and tense shoulders, I could tell he was apologizing.
What's happening? Why is he so mad?
The other man, who must be a friend, then stepped closer and said something to Duncan's ear while those furious eyes were still on that poor guy.
But whatever that man said, seemed to work as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His sharp jaw was still tight.
Without my permission, my gaze traveled over him. Donning a black Armani suit, he looked as sinful as ever. With a tall frame and well-built broad shoulders, he stood over most of the people around us, radiating an aura that screamed danger.
As soon as those intense, still flaming icy blue eyes opened, they snapped to me.
My eyes widened.
And as if my legs had their own mind, they turned around and started to walk away. Why? I didn't know.
I just wanted to stay away from that lava. Beautiful lava.
Wait, shouldn't I thank him for what he did?
Not tonight.
I wanted to be sober for that.
The world around me seemed slightly blurred.
Letting out a hiccup as I looked around for Beth, a big rough hand grabbed my wrist before starting to drag me away.
"What the…"
Words got stuck in my throat as soon as I saw the back of the man who dragged me behind him. Far away from the crowd. To a secluded place.
Once we were away from people's eyesight, I was pressed against a cold wall.
A gasp slipped through my lips.
With his one of his hands holding my arm, firmly yet gently, the other was on the wall right beside my head. The intoxicating masculine crisp cologne of his filled my senses, engulfing me into it. My skin tingled where his his skin touched mine.
"What are you doi…"
"I thought you were told to get rest! Then WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" Icy blue eyes were dark, flaming. His deep Italian accent was filled with rage.
My heart did some weird flip flops. Butterflies danced in my tummy.
"I- I'm…" I stutterd.
Well, let's admit it. This man made me nervous for some reason. Whenever he was around, my heart felt like it would have a cardiac arrest. And when those intense icy blue eyes would watch me, I seemed to forget where I was.
I cleared my throat.
No, Cassandra Brooks wasn't weak. No man could make her feel weak.
"I'm here to do what everyone else is doing here. To have fun." I finally managed to speak. "And who are you to ask me that? Pressing me against the wall?"
A muscle of his jaw ticked. With his overwhelming eyes watching me closely, he reduced an inch of the distance between us.
I gulped.
His scent and proximity was tempering with my nerves.
Why did this infamous Italian billionaire suddenly have me pressed against a wall when he clearly ignored me for months?
"You're standing on my property." His head cocked to the side. "So I can do whatever the hell I want to do. As well as ask you questions. Now tell me, Ms. Brooks, what are you doing here?"This lavish club was his?Why was I so surprised? He freaking ruled the city.Blinking away the blurriness before my sight, trying to stand straight on my feet, I raised my chin. My gaze clashed with his cold icy blue eyes who were piercing through me, as if… reading my soul."I told you, I came here to party. And do you go around and ask every person who comes to this place the reason behind their presence here?" Hiccuping again, I frowned. The alcohol was reaching my head. But I was getting more intoxicated by this overwhelming man's presence. Those intense eyes roamed over every inch of my features. A dark unknown emotion flashed across them. I pressed myself more against the wall as he stepped into my breathing zone. My heart started racing."W-what are you…""This big mouth of yours," he whis
"Bye, Romeo! Be a good boy! I will be back soon!" After checking if the door is locked twice, I took the elevator.I didn't want those debt collectors to come and barge into my apartment in my absence. Even though the time they gave me was still unexpired, I didn't trust them. Just as I was about to pull the door of the car, I felt a presence behind me. With an alert heart, I whirled around. A set of pearly white teeth greeted me. "Hey, Cassie! What's up?""Aaron!" I let out a sigh of relief. No drunk men again. "Don't sneak up behind me like that next time!"He frowned as sunlight shone on his blonde hair. "I'm sorry. Did I scare you? I didn't mean that.""Whatever. What are you doing here? Last time I checked you didn't even know me."A grimace pinched his boyish features."Uh, I'm so sorry for that statement, Cassie. You know, you were stuck in a scandal with that case and if I told the paparazzi that I was dating you, it would be bad for my uncle's reputation. As well as mine a
A shiver ran down me at the deep accented husky voice. A voice I knew really well.Slightly turning around, as his hold was still on me, I met with those dark icy blue eyes. The flash light only revealed a part of his left profile as I held my mobile in my hand, far down from his face.Sharp jaw covered in dense stubble and his intense gaze, that was watching me closely. A feeling of deja Vu hit me. The memories of five years ago flashed across my mind. The same heady masculine cologne surrounded my senses. The side of his mouth pulled up into a smirk. "Like the view, il mio cuore?" "Huh?" I was well aware of his calloused hands on my arms. His front pressed against my back. His scent in my lungs. I couldn't help but feel like my world was surrounded by him for a moment. Then I blinked, getting out of the haze that his presence created.Taking a step back from him, I cleared my throat. And the thing that surprised me was how his hands twitched as soon as I moved out of his hold,
Two more jerks and a string of curses left my mouth. But at least this clunker brought me to my destination. After dying down once in the middle of the road and then slowing down, I was finally in front of the huge building. Damn Chad for changing his plans at the last minute and leaving me on my own with my useless car!I cursed the day I brought this second hand car two years ago. To save money for the small apartment I Iived in, I couldn't afford a new and better one. I needed to change this clunker.A sigh left me.The huge building before me covered with dark glass sent nervous flutters in my tummy. But I was excited at the same time. Time to get back to work again!I just hoped things will go the way I planned them. All I had to do was keep my heart safe from that icy blue eyed man. Then I would be fine.Just as I was about to take the car to the parking lot, a middle aged man rushed towards my car window."G-good morning, Miss! I will take care of your car for you now," he s
The first thing that came into my mind was to scream 'murderer' and run away kicking him where the sun doesn't rise. But then an arm snaked around my waist, pulling me flush against him. And I saw those icy blue eyes, staring at me, so close."L-leave me." And again, I was lost. Even if my heart thumped with the sense of the danger, I couldn't help but take a deep breath, taking more of his masculine scent in my lungs.I tried to fight. But his grip on me only tightened. Those intense cold blue eyes took a moment to roam my features, his thumb brushed across my jaw in a soft touch. A shaky breath left me."What did you hear?" Deep Italian accent. The edge of it sent shivers down my spine. Damn, he was mad. Of course, he would be! I just overheard his dangerous secret. And he knew it. What now? Will he kill me too? Burying his dark secret along with me?My stomach flipped at the thought."Uh, I- I didn't hear anything. Not even a word," I stuttered, eyeing for an escape route, even
'I don't know what you are planning to do, Cassie. But just remember one thing, listen to what your heart says, not your fears.'Em's words rang in my mind like a broken recorder since yesterday. She didn't know about the darkness of my soul. But her words sounded like she knew me more than I had ever let anyone know."Look, isn't this portrait beautiful?" At Beth's nudge at my side, my thoughts got a break. A painting of a small girl wrapped around in a colorful flower gown was hung on the wall. The fusion of the colors was enchanting, especially the girl's eyes. They were violet. I nodded. "Yes, it is."We were at an art exhibition. Mason's work was gonna be on display. And Beth was over the moon at her boyfriend's success. Because it wasn't any ordinary exhibition. It was an event where famous artists put their work for the world to see. And Mason got a chance to make a place here for him. He was one amazing artist I had to admit."Hey, guys!" Mason walked over to us once he not
Biting on the almond cookies Chad's Mom sent for me, I kept my eyes set on the television screen. A shiver ran down my arms as the cold wind blew past me. Pulling at my old oversized sweater, I cuddled Romeo who slept soundly on my lap.At the end of November, it was freezing outside. The heater of my apartment wasn't working and I was saving money to fix that. But I will have to do that soon, otherwise the cold will bite me in the ass in winter. My gaze went to the clock for the umpteenth time. Five minutes left for it to be eight. The flutters in my tummy were going crazy. Heart thumped.Nothing was gonna happen. He wasn't going to be here. He had received my message. He knew very well I wasn't going to go anywhere with him or receive any punishment. After his short phone call last night, I sent him a message with a big 'no' in bold words. I didn't deserve any punishment. I didn't know about his rules, nor did I intentionally overheard his phone conversation. So he could take his
Even though he was being ridiculous, it somehow managed to touch something deep inside me."So do as I say. Go and change, Sandra. Something that's modest."That snapped me out of the haze he created. "Modest? Do you think it's not a modest dress? I see no problem in it. I can wear whatever I want. And don't forget you were the one who brought it for me. So I'm not changing it."It was another thing that I cut half of it to irritate him. The buzzing of his phone took his attention. With him still so close to me, he saw the person's name on display. He hissed some Italian words under his breath. More like curses.Glancing up at me, he pinned me with his deadliest glare. "Go and change, Sandra. I won't ask twice."My instincts told me to step back from him, but I held my ground. Odd, but I somehow believed that he wouldn't hurt me. If he did, I had my fists too."No."A muscle of his jaw clenched. His phone buzzed again. Letting out another curse, he pressed his forehead against mine,
I took a deep breath before opening my eyes. Butterflies stormed in my stomach furiously while my heart raced down my chest. The music from the church and the chatters of people flowing to my ears made my palms clammy. "Are you nervous, Cassie?" Em asked. While my other best friend smirked at me. "I thought you were the most excited bride of the century. But it seems like, you're just like an ordinary girl like us too, soft and emotional." "Shut up, Beth!" I shot her a glare. "I'm not nervous!" I denied. Liar! Syl suggested we hold our wedding after the delivery, but I couldn't wait. I already waited for months before finally convincing Syl that I was healthy enough to go through all the arrangements. Growing up, I never believed in love and marriages. But now, after having him in my life, I didn't want anything else more than I wanted to marry that brute of mine. Somehow…it became my dream. To have him as my husband and tie us together for the rest of our lives. But now that t
My intense glare didn't bring any changes to the man's stoic features at all. I tried with my puppy eyes earlier, but I failed. Now my glare was in vain too. The loud music blasted across the nightclub, colorful lights moved around. The beat compelled into moving the body. But there was no smell of sweat, perfume and alcohol like a typical nightclub should. Why? Because there was not a single person in this whole place other than the bartenders, the bodyguards outside and my freaking Italian royal prince, who stood before me! After being away from parties and drinks, being seven months pregnant, I had an intense craving to go and enjoy the night in a nightclub. But this brute wouldn't allow it! I knew alcohol wasn't good for pregnancy, but a few sips wouldn't hurt! My hormones wanted it. I knew how to avoid being careless. And he complied to my eager request, only to vacant an entire nightclub and remove all the alcohol from the place. Only music and juices were available. "How da
His grip on my waist tightened. I felt him taking a deep breath against my neck, his entire form was tense. "Those guards you saw weren't our men, they were his. As we shifted to the villa, De Sylvano Mansion wasn't guarded by many guards. So it was easy for him to take them down and replace his men. And he did all of that the moment you sent me the message." The message? I remembered Vincenzo mentioning it. He had hacked my mobile and somehow stopped my communication with everyone. If not for Ron and the guards following me, they wouldn't have known where I was heading to. A chill ran down my spine thinking what could have happened if Syl hadn't arrived there on time. "That bastard had his men set among the guests in the wedding," Syl continued. "He was planning to attack while distracting us with his fake location. He knew I would send Ron and some of my men there to grab him and it would make it easier for him to attack. But when…" Dark icy blue eyes met mine. "When I left
Blinding flashes sparked from down the stage from the darkness. Cheers and whistles made the night awake while the slow music urged me to move further. The spotlight moved with me as I walked down the ramp with the red princess gown flowing around me, my hair swayed gently with the whoosh of air. I walked with utmost confidence and a bright smile, while my heart palpitated at the dark gaze that devoured me from somewhere in the audience. Goosebumps spread across my skin with a pair of flaming eyes set on me like a predator. And then I found myself falling from the stage and wrapped into a pair of strong arms. Intoxicating masculine crisp cologne surrounded my senses. Dark icy blue eyes stared down at my amber ones with a look that made my heart skip. Suddenly I found myself in a nightclub, pressed against the wall by a furious Italian billionaire. His lips were inches away from me. "A kiss?" I heard myself whispering. The location again changed and I stood in the middle of a hall
Blood ran cold in my veins. With a drop of tear rolling down my cheek, I stood there frozen. My heart slowed down for a moment before it started pounding against my ribcage. My hands shook at my sides realizing who was standing before me. Vincenzo Zolvesky. The man I was running from was waiting in my own house. My legs stumbled back, the cold doors hit my back, leaving me no escape. "You…" Words stuck in my throat. "W-what are you doing here? How dare you come to our house!" The side of his lips tugged upwards into a smirk. "Is that how you greet your guests, Miss. Brooks? Or should I say…Mrs. De Sylvano? That's the title Duncan De Sylvano used in that hospital after all." Something dropped inside me. H-how did he know what happened in the hospital? Did he…have someone to keep an eye on us? They were following us from the hospital? That's how they knew we went to the wedding. It explained why his men roamed among the guests hiding their identities. They were waiting for the ri
Turning around swiftly, we found the two men who passed us earlier standing behind us, along with the tall man in the middle. Their guns were pointed at us. And the eyes of the tall man were set on me. A cold smirk tugged at his lips. My heart stopped. They were here for…me?Vincenzo's men. A panic started to rise inside me. My heart started racing. I thought they were guests…That meant…they were waiting for the right moment to attack, hiding themselves among the guests. How did they know we were going to attend the wedding? "Give her to us and we will let you go. Don't make it hard," said the tall man in a calm tone. "Step away or the consequences will be bloody," Ron hissed, one of his arms shielding me. "Carter! Call for backup!" he shouted to one of the guards. But before Carter could take his phone out, one of the men beside the tall one tackled him on the ground. And instantly, Ron shot him on the shoulder. A muffled scream left me as they advanced Ron. Gunshots star
Now? What happened all of a sudden?Ron suddenly rushed inside the church, nodding at Syl. His stance was tense, the guards behind him stood stiff. My heart started to race. Gripping my hand in his firmly, Syl took me away from the bride and groom. They gave us concerned looks but couldn't ask anything as guests surrounded them to congratulate the newly wedded couple. The stormy rage across Syl's features scared me more. "Syl, what happened? Why are we leaving so soon?" Before I could get an answer, Ron interrupted us. With his face hardened with determination and urgency, he had a grip on his gun. "Boss, my men just confirmed it. Vincenzo is there. They got together in that old motel for some meeting." My eyes widened. Vincenzo? They found his location? Syl's lips curled into a sneer. "It shall be the last meeting of his life. Did you instruct our men to take their positions?" Ron nodded. "Yes. As soon as they confirmed Vincenzo's presence there, they took action. They spr
My heart stopped. I was…pregnant?A slight panic rolled in my stomach. I knew these pills weren't safe enough! My fear turned out to be true!W-what should I do now? I wasn't ready to be a mother. I didn't know if I could take the responsibility. What if I couldn't be a good mother…"Hey! It's fine!" Em grasped my hand. "Don't be nervous. Calm down and think about it. It's not as horrifying as you think it is. Plus, you will have to tell Duncan about it too." I licked my dry lips. "I…I don't know, Em. I…" "It's alright. I know it's overwhelming, but trust me, being a mother is the most beautiful feeling in this world," she said softly. "We're here for you, especially Duncan. You don't need to worry as long as he is with you." She hesitated before continuing. "But if you have other plans, then he will understand, I'm sure." A shaky sigh left me. Syl's words from the morning echoed in my mind. I knew he would be there with me no matter what. But I didn't know what decision I needed
Morning arrived and I couldn't be more anxious and excited at the same time. I had stayed in our room the entire night talking to Beth and Em on video call, planning things for the wedding. Only at two in the morning did they say goodbye and left to rest. And my Italian stayed out of the room the whole night. Though I felt him wandering before the door a few times to check if I was alright until I fell asleep. My cold shoulder was taking a toll on him. A knock on the door resounded softly in the room. "Sandra? Baby? Are you awake? I've brought breakfast for you." I huffed. I wouldn't have opened the door if not for carrying on with our plan. Rising to my feet, as I walked to the door, a sudden dizziness hit me. Clutching the knob of the door, I held myself still and took a deep breath. Once the door opened, tired yet soft icy blue eyes greeted me. And my treacherous heart skipped a beat. "Good morning, mia regina." Placing the tray of breakfast on the small table beside t
