After getting into the car, Wesley glanced in the rearview mirror and asked, "Are you heading back to the hotel today or the apartment, Mr. Moore?"

Ian only spoke after a brief silence, his voice hoarse and carrying a hint of fatigue. "The apartment."

Wesley started the car and drove toward the apartment.

Eunice assured Lucille and Bailey that she wouldn't overthink things while alone at home. Only then did they leave. Once they were gone, Eunice was alone in the apartment. She couldn't help feeling a little empty and lonely.

She sat on the couch and allowed her mind to wander as she thought about many things. Placing a hand on her belly and caressing it, she thought about how the baby had come so quietly and without warning. She'd been caught off guard and didn't know whether to be happy or worried.

Eunice had only just learned about the existence of a life within her body, but the thought of getting rid of it already made her heart ache and her nose prickle.
