I sleepily walked down the stairs into the kitchen, in desperate search of a coffee to wake myself up. Training would be a killer this morning with Uncle Gabe running the show... he may not be of higher rank in the pack, but that guy was one hell of a skilled fighter. He had earned his role of senior warrior, much like Uncle Manny. Both capable of giving my Dad a run for his money when it came to training. So, I knew today's training would be far from easy, so coffee would be a necessity if I was to survive...

Only as I stepped into the hallway could I hear muted voices in the lounge, making me frown. It sounded like my parents. I was surprised they were up at this time of day when my Dad was not in charge of training…

I still lived at home despite being well into my twenties. I could easily have moved into the Alpha suite by now, like Finn had moved to the Gamma suite, but I was happy here. My family were crazy, but I loved them, and actually enjoyed their company the majority of the

I was just returning to my room after my early morning run. Something I chose to do despite the fact my day was taken up by constant strict training regimes. The morning run was my time alone with my wolf. A time to let my thoughts go, and simply run. And my wolf, Dex, liked to run. We had cut it fine by returning so late today.I would just about have enough time for a shower before heading to breakfast in the dining hall to catch the last sitting before heading to the training field. Today would be even more punishing than normal with the heat of the sun already increasing. Not that the coaches seemed to care. They beasted us within an inch of our lives. Their focus was getting the strongest warriors possible out of the recruits. Not that I would ever become a warrior…I quickly stripped and stepped into the cool shower, knowing it would help cool me down, I was sweating profusely already from a combination of over-exertion and that crazy heat outside. Just as I did, I heard my phon

I walked down towards the dining room, many familiar faces smiling at me as I made my way through the corridors of the packhouse. I may not be an official member of this pack, but they knew my grandmother, and, of course, they knew my Aunt, Uncle and cousins, and had always treated me as if I was one of their own. I had always been made to feel I would always have a place within this pack, and at times I wished I could make this pack my home...“Running a little late this morning aren’t you, Lan?” my Uncle piped up, from the door of the dining hall.“Oh, please, don’t even ask.” I said to him with a wry smile. Not even wanting to begin to explain to him how my day was going, and this without the fact it hadn't even reached breakfast time!“Oh, I had no intention of asking.” He grinned. “I could tell from that scowl upon that ever-so handsome face of yours that I was better not to.” He winked. "But, you want to be as handsome as me son, you got to stop frowning so much."I smiled in re

I had woken a little later than usual, but in my usual sleepy daze, showered and got dressed. Wandering downstairs to grab myself a mug of tea, I was surprised to see both my Mum and my Dad still at home despite the time. They would both normally be at work, or out doing things within pack by now. The atmosphere within the house was uncomfortable, to say the least, which made me feel uneasy. This was not how things were between my Mum and Dad.‘Finn?’ I mindlinked as I grabbed my purse, rushing from the house, thinking perhaps they needed some time alone. Something did not feel right in the house, and I felt like I shouldn’t be there. Me coming downstairs when I had may have disturbed whatever was going on between them.‘What is up, beautiful?’ he almost instantly responded. And I felt my mood lighten at the sound of his voice. He always seemed to have that ability.I knew he wouldn’t be training with the others today, like he usually would, because he had mentioned a business meetin

I had paperwork I was meant to be dealing with ready for the meeting I had agreed to attend on behalf of the family business. But the moment Cleo mindlinked to see if I was free, it became inconsequential. It sounded like she needed me, and that was more important to me than any piece of paperwork could ever be. Ok, my Dad and my uncles may think otherwise, but that was how tings were…Yes, I knew, as had been frequently pointed out to me, that Cleo was not my fated mate, but I wasn’t exactly a traditionalist. I wasn’t too fussed by all of that. She was an important part of my life, and I liked the way she made me feel. Right now, that was what mattered. Fated mate or not, she was what I wanted right now, whether she knew it or not...I have heard the tales of the shit a fated matebond can cause. Yes, they are made out to be wonderful things when we learn of them. Of course, they are. They are chosen my our moon goddess. But they can be wrong too... they can cause pain and suffering t

I dropped my bag over the top of the stairs, hearing it land at the bottom of the stairs with a loud, heavy thud. “Fucking hell Sergio!” I heard my brother Rico snarl angrily from downstairs. “You trying to give me a fucking heart attack? I nearly spilled coffee all over me, you stupid fuck!” I found myself chuckling, as I made my way down the stairs. A perfect reaction from my brother! Yeah, it would have been a whole heap easier to carry my bag, but it was so much more fun to scare the crap out of my brother, though in truth I was hoping my Mum or sister would have been passing. Their reactions were classic... Rico was standing in the entranceway of the house, glaring at me, a mug of coffee in hand. He looked so much like Dad right now, it was funny. Same dark stare, and same frown. “Lighten up.” I shook my head at him. “Did you make me a coffee? Or was that the one you spilled?” I asked with a grin, knowing it would wind him up even more. I loved to annoy my brother.

I find myself looking at Finn, his eyes are so intense, and he is closer than ever right now. My heart feels like it is beating like a drum right now. And time feels like it has paused between us. He is so handsome, one of the sweetest guys I know... Finn and I have always been close, but this… this is a line we never crossed. But that look I could see within his eyes was telling me he was seriously considering more... And, as much as I worship him, I don’t know if it is the right thing…I found myself awkwardly clearing my throat and lowering my gaze to break the intensity of the way Finn was looking at me. Maybe coming here hadn’t been the right thing to do after all…“Oh, you backing out on me doll?” he teased, and I found myself avoiding his gaze even further. There was nothing awkward in the way he had spoken to me. It had been lighthearted and playful, but still, I didn't feel right. My insides were churning nervously, not to mention the butterflies that had taken up residence

I watched from the sofa with a sinking heart as Cleo’s silhouette darted from my home. My chest tightened in pain. Disappointment. I am such a fool. I had clearly misread the situation. Allowed my own heart to become carried away with itself… or was it my head? She had been so close… her scent filled my senses…and those beautiful eyes mesmerized me like they so often did… I had wanted her so desperately. I had thought she wanted me too.Was I so wrong to want to kiss her? Was it a crime? The way she looked at me had made me feel like it was. She looked in shock. Hurt. And that made me feel nothing but guilt. I had clung to a hope she felt the same way about me as I did for her. We were close. Closer than ever in recent years. We flirted like a couple who wanted one another. I don’t think it was a wrong assumption to make. But, I also know that Cleo clung desperately to the traditions expected of her, and as the daughter of an Alpha, I suppose nothing less would be expected of her.I w

Taking out some frustrations on the training field was always fun, and these guys within the warrior training facility were tougher than most, meaning we could be as brutal as we liked, and nobody wanted to admit defeat or show weakness. Always very handy when you have some stresses to unleash. And today, when I had finally got to the training field, after being harassed by far too many phone calls, I had more than taken my frustrations out. The only issue was, it now meant two guys were in the first aid room, potentially on the way to the pack hospital. I am hoping their wolves should easily heal whatever damage I did. It wasn’t my fault that they lost concentration for those few seconds…“Lan, what the hell was going on out there today?” Joey asked, as he approached me. I could always rely on my cousin to be demanding answers. He would know in an instant something was off with me, so I knew there would be little point denying it.“Just a little stressed.” I turned away from him, mo

Training was tough today. Dad and Uncle Manny seemed to have increased the level a little for us. Working us that bit harder. Not that I minded. I wanted to be the best I could in my role as warrior and in doing that I needed to be pushed. I knew my Dad and my Uncle were incredibly well respected within pack and beyond for the roles they held, and that was what I wanted to achieve as I moved through my career too; so following their training programme would be considered an honour.“You did well out there, son.” Dad slapped his hand upon my shoulder as we all walked back to the gym block. Training had been outside this morning. We had chosen to make the most of the glorious sunshine blessed upon us, thought, admittedly it had become less of a blessing as we exercised. Pushing ourselves to our limits, feeling like we were melting under the hot rays of the sun. I smiled across at my Dad, appreciating the compliment before looking toward my cousins, Dario and Xavier

Who knew arranging an Alpha ceremony was so much hardwork? Or was it only hard work when it involved my Mum and Dad? I was beginning to think so. Every little detail seemed to be assessed, and then reassessed. I was starting to understand why Bella had said she was finding it all a little too overwhelming for her.“You want the day to be perfect.” Mum said insistently from across the office, and I looked to Dad for help, but he simply nodded in agreement.“These are going to be the Alphas you are working alongside. You want to make a good impresson. An Alpha ceremony that is poorly planned and organised simply shows how badly organized and incapable you are.” Dad said and I dropped my head to the desk. I was sick of hearing that now. We were literally discussing food, weren’t we?!So long as there was beer and there was food to feed them when the hunger kicked in I was sure they would all be more than satisfied. “Right.”

I slipped through the arch into the coffee store, and noticed the almost unreadable expression upon Camilla’s face, while Lola had turned and given her a smile. I had clearly missed something. I knew Camilla better than anyone. She had become one of my closest friends in pack, and I never saw her as anything but a friend despite her role. I hated the way others could treat her, so I love this new life she had been gifted here with me. But this expression upon her face was reminicsent of our time in pack together, which bothered me.I have always felt we shared a connections, and I had always been able to tell how she was feeling but right now she seemed guarded. It was hard to tell what she was feeling. I edged over to the counter, where the coffee was waiting that Lola had linked me to come and collect. I could not imagine for a second that Lola was the type of person to intentionally upset someone. But the tension sitting between the two was awkward,

We were a a couple of days past returning from the Alpha celebrations of River Ash Pack, and I am a little ashamed to say, I have been avoiding everyone other than Bella. Hiding out in my room, and sneaking to work. That has been my sole purpose the last few days. Gutless? Perhaps. But, inexplicably in these moments which seem to be stuck on replay my head and my heart seem to be in turmoil, and I am not quite sure how to handle it. Jorge's mindlinks are rudely ignored, and his messages go unanswered.I can only imagine how he must be feeling. But my mind is a whirpool of confusion, and my soul feels like a sludge pit of emotion. The thing is, my mind had been buzzing with the thought of Jorge since his kiss. It isn't that I did not want it. Nor that I did not enjoy it. Because I did. But the fact I did seems to be making my thoughts harder to process. My mind battling with guilt for the man I feared I was replacing… my mate… not that he had be

The celebrations were coming to an end. We had done the rounds, saying our goodbyes and had begun making our way to the vehicles. My Dad asked us to travel with him, which was unusual, he so often would travel alone with Mum, or with one of his friends. So I have to say I was more than a little intrigued. Perhaps a little anxious you could say. But, Mum looked content as Bella and I said our goodbyes to the remaining few we had missed, and approached the car which eased the majority of my concerns. Today had been a good day, so I could not help but ponder if my parents were simply struggling with the fact they were leaving two of their three kids here permanently now. Settled down in high ranked positions, with their mates. How times were changing…Bella looked toward me with a smile. “You okay?” She asked softly, and I nodded.“A little curious why Dad wants us to drive with them, but other than that all good.”She giggled an almo

I watched as Cleo rushed away, her hand tightly in Landon’s. She had said she wanted to slip away without any emotional goodbyes, so I had told her to go before we did. That in itself had been emotional enough for me. This was my baby girl all grown up. But, there comes a time you have to let them go. But, I was happy for her. I could see a contentment in her eyes that was new. A confidence too. One I had seen develop in Lilah’s eyes over time as we were together. I am glad it hadn’t taken Cleo as long to find that contentment nor confidence as it had for her mother.Obviously, their stories and their pasts were different, but clearly they were intertwined. Lilah’s pain made sense now when we saw that Cleo was always going to be fated to Logan’s son. But, as much as I hate that my beautiful mate was ever hurt, it was me that felt eternally blessed, because it meant I gained the gift of Lilah as a fated mate. And, for that I have

I was sick of smiling. Sick of polite conversation. Sick of sharing my mate… all I wanted now was to be alone with him, and, as yet another unfamiliar face approached us I found myself sighing. Landon chuckled. ‘Aww, is my Luna tired of her duties already?’ he mindlinked.I gave him a dirty look. ‘I think we could say they may take some getting used to.’He smiled again. ‘Tell me about it. Not a moment’s peace tonight, but that is purely because today is all about us. Soon enough life will return to normal. Everyday life, where we are just an Alpha and Luna doing their thing.’I found myself smiling athis words. ‘Please tell me that means I get you to myself at least a large percentage of the time?’ I joked, causing Landon to near choke on the swig of beer he had just drank, just in time for the arrival of a tall, red headed man.“Well, young man, we are heading off, I just wanted to say c

I stood with a beer in one hand and Nori's hand within the other. We had my family, and now multiple members of my friends and family surrounding us. All laughing and chatting as we so often do at these sort of social events. I felt a warmth coursing through me that felt so unfamiliar A contentment. Nori rested her head upon my shoulder. "This is fun." She whispered softly, and I nodded."Sure is, though I cannot wait to take you home." I whispered, moving my mouth a little closer to her ear, shivering slightly as the tingles of the matebond rippled across my body at the touch of our skin.Mum, Dad, Uncle Knox and Aunt Lilah were now busy chatting with Nori's parents so I did not need to worry about them, they were doing all the hard work I had been thinknng I would have to do in arranging her move to pack. Uncle Knox was great at this sort of thing, and no doubt soon enough they woud have it all planned down to the finer detail. All I wanted was my mate at home with m

I had to have heard wrong. My boy was here, with his arm around a girl... a girl that was not Cleo, saying he had a fated mate? No. He had always been the most non-comforming of my children. The one to go against what was expected of him. I mean, Dan and I were never quite ones who fitted the moulds of the average couple, nor the perfect parents, but we worked. Both as mates, and as a family. Damn, did we work. And, when I look at our kids now, I could not be prouder of all they turned out to be.Hell, they had caused us some drama over the years, as kids so often do, but they were all good kids. One was soon to be a mama herself, and I could not wait to watch Wren embark on that journey, for I knew she and Dario would be truly amazing parents. Mine and Dan's children were all settling down to their own lives now. All doing different things, but all happy, and all doing good. That to me meant we had done our role as parents, and it meant we had done it well. But, Finn?
