Chapter 52

“I know I messed up—”

“Of course, you did,”

Garrett frowned at his sister after her sudden interruption. It got him pissed off that she had to, especially when he had a serious explanation to give out to her.

It wasn’t until he realized who he was dealing with did he decide to calm down. Monica wasn’t the type of person to stay angry with as it would be him alone suffering the aftereffects.

With a sigh escaping his lips, he decided to continue from where he stopped, hoping she wouldn’t do the same annoying thing she did not too long ago. “So, I said I messed up—”

“And I just affirmed that you did.”

The look on her face after she did that again made it seem like she didn’t do anything odd. And this only infuriated him more than he already was.

“Monica

“Come in,” my voice wasn’t telling any confidence when I announce that. I’m not sure if I did the right thing by getting armed now, but there was no way to explain who is standing right outside. Whatever the case may be, the fact that I’m as troubled as hell was enough for me to seek protection from the only thing I had for that. When the door starts to creak open, I take in a silent deep breath to calm my nerves. Did that work? No, because it only made me more nervous than I already was. Was it a total coincidence seeing the alpha at a time like this? At a time where I found out the truth about myself? I would want to believe it so, but I’ve never had a reason to have a discussion or any of sort with him. The only thing I can believe now is that he has found out who I was and was ready to exterminate me like he did my pack. Garrett’s father, the alpha, had the usual neutrality on his face as he walks into my room,

Not one, but two shots went right through his left shoulder, sending him down to the floor almost instantly. I didn’t make a target before releasing the shots, as I had acted out of impulse. But I was lucky I didn’t hit his most vital organ which was his heart as I still have questions to ask him.I still have the pistol pointed in his direction, but the trembling of my hands only worsened. It was almost like I have no candid reaction to what I have just done even though I had no choice but to do so. It was a pure act of self-defense, but who would want to hear that?He was still alive, that, I could tell as his groans filled the air. The look of surprise that flashed on his face when he sat up to realize he was bleeding profusely was something I have no explanation for. I’m sure he couldn’t believe that a supposed regular gun with regular bullets would affect him, but he would be more surprised to know it was not.

He was seated on the opposite end of four older-looking men, all clad in a similar robe-like piece of clothing with a shade of dark and red. The noticeable feature that could differ all four men was their faces which had no way of looking the same. The casual outfit of a button-down shirt and faded jeans made him stand out from the four men who had different reactions to staring at him. One had complete neutrality, another looked calm, the next one exuded creepiness, and the last looked a bit worried. Their reactions weren’t really his problem. His main problem was that he was here again to battle the same thing he has been battling with them for a while now — an issue he was tired of already. To keep himself calm, he had to clutch his right hand into a fist, almost digging his nails into his flesh. Considering their positions as highly respected personalities was the only reason he kept himself at bay. And on a de

The moment he shut the door behind him, he felt at ease, not minding the fact that he might have disrespected the elders inside the building he had gotten out of. He wasn’t even sure what to exude after his little-like outburst, but he did know he was going through a lot of emotions. He moved back, leaning on the wall. He had to close his eyes, running his hand through his hair to show how frustrated he was. A sigh escaped his lips soon after before he opened his eyes to take in the scenery just below the balcony he was on.The greenery was the major highlight of direct scenery outside the balcony, with his automobile being the only notable sight until he looked far into the distance where there were different buildings.Nothing of the scenery fascinated him so he decided to take off from there, heading down the balcony to get to his automobile which was idle in the pathway. Instead of the side where the driver&rsq

Imagine being in a place where you have no way of leaving no matter how hard you try. A place where you probably cannot see the light of the day and have to be confided in, doing everything you want to do in it for a very long time. In no time you’ll probably get used to living that kind of life despite the conditions surrounding the situation. Why am I saying this? It’s because this is the condition I’m presently in. A condition where I have been cast into a dark four-cornered space with hardly any living facility. Should have been good, except I wasn’t here on my will and would as hell want to get out of here if I ever get the chance to. One month. One whole month is enough to change things around you without even realizing it. Possibly enough to make you see things clearer than you have been seeing before. When I set out to take vengeance into my hands, I already knew how much of a bad idea it was going to be. M

The reflective lights hit my face soon as the door opens, momentarily blinding me. That’s what I get from being kept in the dark for so long. I have to lift my hand to my face to shield my eyes from the reflection that was threatening to weaken my sight in some way. I was weak already, and adding that to it was suicidal too for me.It’s been a while since that door has been opened. A while since I’ve had any chance to get a visit from someone which never has been friendly. Let’s just say I’m almost nearly starved before a meal is brought over to me. That has simply been my cycle.I had to slowly put my hand down to adjust my sight to the light, and even though it took me a little while to perfect it, I eventually do so. The white walls, which was the only thing that I see whenever the door is opened, comes into view. And blocking the path was a figure whose sight I haven’t made out yet.

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 59

“You seem to be restless these days, son. I don’t think it’s good enough for your state of mind,” Simon said to the young man pacing about close to where he was seated. He watched the young man’s movement from behind the cup of coffee he was taking a sip from, basically the black type which was his outright favorite. He couldn’t do anything about the action of the young man as agitation was clearly written on his face. It was understandable, though, due to the amount of pressure he knew the young man had of recent.Just when he had taken the cup from his lips, the young man finally stopped with the continuous paces, which somewhat gladdened him because he was a bit tired already of seeing him pace about like a lost soul.“I really want to stop,” A pause. And then, “but I don’t think I can,” the young man says to him, and he nodded in response to that even

Life was slowly seeping out of him right before my eyes, with silent grunts escaping his lips. Just like that, his ability has completely vanished from his hands as he put them down slowly. The hand that went through his chest is pulled back slowly to reveal a hole right there with a lot of blood dripping from the open wound. I wouldn’t know what to call that because it was akin to doom in my opinion. When he goes down to his knees, I get a clear picture of who committed the act on the elder. “Monica?” I whisper because I cannot speak out loud. But it was more than likely to get the attention of the dark-haired lady standing behind the elder. She was the last person I would expect to be here. Not even in my wildest dreams would I see her lending a hand in such a situation. We might have let her in on a bit of our plan but I never imagined she would follow up in some way. Her gaze was aimed di

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 98

I burst the doors open, and the first sight I catch is that of two lifeless bodies on the ground. They looked like that of the guards I had seen when I had arrived here hidden in Garrett’s car. But what I know is that their being down was not my doing. I might have been in a clash with those agents but I did not extend it to this point. What was left for me now was to figure out which direction that monster had run through. He would be long gone by now, which I am sure of after using some time inside beforehand. If I had my hyper sense, I would have traced his scent but that cannot be possible at this moment.I can rely on my instincts now and so got down from the balcony of the building. The woods on the side of the main route wasn’t as thick as the regular woods so I could see through it. Nothing caught my fancy, though but it meant I was not going to acknowledge that path. After thinking for a few seconds, I proceed to go with

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 97

The dark power being exhibited by the elder was thought to be aimed at his fellow elders who already have accepted that he was going to harm them. But it went past them when released, going straight into a dark area of the room behind them. Others would have thought it was crazy but the elder had something in mind that he wanted to accomplish with that. The force he had shot into the dark area yielded a result as before it crashed into the place, out came a being from it who rolled on the floor to get away from the impending doom. And when that happened, the elder got his hands ready for another shot of his abilities.“She’s here...” loud gasps escaped the lips of the other two elders that he initially should have attacked as they observed the intruder that he had lured out of the dark area.It was a lady. And this became a full discovery when she raised her head to look at them while she remained knee-

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 96

From where I had thought I made a surprise lethal attack, I widened my eyes in shock at what I was seeing. My attack had been stopped, but not just by any means. It was through the same way I had thrown out mine — a gifted ability.Time seemed to freeze at the very least. My head seemed to be throbbing as a bad headache was at the point of developing. I just couldn’t comprehend the sight and I swear I could burst my head open from having to.The crazy thing about the event was who had stopped the beam I had shot out of my hands. Literally, it was to the very person I had in mind which only happened out of impulse after surviving an attack just outside. Because I could tell it was the Western Border elder’s men that had almost finished me off yet again, I wanted to retaliate, not considering the later consequences. But who would have thought it would yield the unexpected of events. There was something da

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 95

The moment Garrett ‘barged’ into the inner room of the building alongside Luke, four pairs of eyes rained on him. Belonging to the supposed occupants of the building, the gazes screamed anger, more than likely to pressure a vulnerable being.Something about the way they were stern-looking said they were in the middle of an important discussion and they were clearly not pleased with the fact that they have been intruded upon. But Garrett, who was the culprit of their frowns, pretended like he saw none of what they were displaying.“What is the meaning of this, Garrett? Didn’t the guards tell you we are in the middle of a meeting?” one of the four told the nonchalant young man, exuding much of his angry reaction toward him in the process.“They did,” Garrett said as he finally walked to their fronts, “but I can assure you that what you are having now won’t be as importa

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 94

It was stuffy in here, so much that I was finding it hard to breathe. Imagine being put inside a space that doesn’t fit the size of your body but you have to squeeze yourself in it so you can stay at least comfortable. And to add to that discomfort, a load of clothes is used to cover the whole of your body.Just as it seems ridiculous right now to think of was the same way I had frowned upon it when I was told it was the way I would be positioned before I could go out with the boys as planned. Luke, whose car was being used to transport us to our destination, had directly told me I would be going with them in the bunker, adding that it was the only option to take so I won’t be caught on the way. I would say he was following Garrett’s way of stating I should stay hidden. The only reason I agreed eventually was because I didn’t want to end up walking to the place. It was much of a distance away from the Green Woods pack

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 93

I guess whatever you run from keeps coming back to you. Like an addiction or so. You tell yourself you do not want to do it anymore, you do not want a part of it again. But at the end of the day, you find yourself in it again. That is just like my chronicles with the Green Woods pack since I escaped from it a few weeks ago. For two different reasons, I’ve had to come back. And those two reasons were really worth the risk. If one has a connection with the topmost body, why wouldn’t it come easy to penetrate a place you should be dreading? This time around, it took a lot of mental convincing that I needed to be here. Two days ago when I had been here with Garrett for the books, what had happened after that was something I wouldn’t want to be repeated. And I’m talking about the two events that nearly got me killed. The main reason I accepted to be here was that I have nowhere else to run to after my

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 92

We ran like our lives depended on it... because they did.How Garrett got the strength to hold on to his unconscious friend without his speed being affected surprises me. Funny enough, he was still in his human form, which makes me rather curious as to how he was doing it.Something tells me he chose not to transform because he knew I would be unable to keep up with his speed. If it had not been for the weight on him limiting his speed, which I’m sure is intentional, then there would be no catching up with him for me.I was right ahead of him, straining my ears at the same time to know if I would hear anything or anyone on our tails. But all the while, I’ve got nothing. The reason we were running right through the woods after escaping my now dead grandma’s house was that the backyard of the apartment was connected to the woods. She had her apartment right among those in the outskirt

  • A Different Type of Mate   Chapter 91

Asides from the keywords, I would sum up Luke’s explanation to be a load of jargon. Terms I was finding difficult to understand. But I did grab the main point of it all. An anonymous source was destroying evidence of my pack’s existence.Garrett suddenly asks Luke, “Did you get the rest of the data to serve as proof that the council hasn’t been doing their jobs right?”“Yeah,” Luke nods, “I have it saved in my drive. The drive is right here with me,” and he taps the cross bag that he has with him while speaking.I notice Garrett staring at me so I stare right back, but he takes his gaze off the moment I do so.“Have you made any progress with the books?” Luke speaks up after about a minute of silence has reigned in the air.Garrett was quick to respond. “Yes,” he says, “My father documented in thi
