"I will not let anything happen to you, My Cara, I swear on my life," He huskily whispered in my ear. I held on to him for a while before gently letting go. There was a question bothering me.

"How did you get in touch with my father," I asked him. We have had numerous issues with me going to see Emilio so I needed to understand why he went to see the man that he had forbidden me from ever seeing.

Damien 163.I turned over in the haze of sleep and put my arm around Isabella. I felt only rumpled sheet. Alarmed, I sat up in panic and looked around the room. The discussion of yesterday flooded my mind with fear as I searched for my wife. I was only in a black Calvin Klein underwear as I entered the bathroom to see if she was there. The bathroom was empty. I went out of the room and headed down the stairs. Did she go to her father's house again? I knew that Isabella was very adamant once she had put her mind on doing something. She needed to realize how unsafe she was at the moment. The scent of hot coffee swirled up my nose as I made my way downstairs. I had given the maids a few days off so I had no clue who could be in the kitchen except if it was Isabella. I found her lost in thought as she held a big white mug filled with cream colored coffee."My Cara?" I said and she turned abruptly, her coffee almost spilling."How long have you been standing there?" She asked with genuine

Isabella 164.Overprotective Damien made me uneasy. He was jittery and always looked over his shoulders any time we were outdoors. It seemed like Renaissance was taking its toll on my husband. What was he hiding? What was he not telling me? His whole behavior was making me worried and I wondered about how long I could live with this.Leaving him was out of the question because I sensed Camilla's interest in my husband. He was going to work today and I could see how apprehensive he was about leaving me alone in the house."Do not worry yourself, Damien, the maids will keep me company," I told him as he adjusted his tie."And if there is a problem, please do not hesitate to call me," Damien reminded me for the third time.I smiled. "You better come home to me in one piece, Damien Moretti," I told him. It was not a joke but I beamed at him as I told him. In truth, I was terrified of him going out there into the unknown because as I had come to learn, anything could happen.I walked with

Damien 165.I was deep in research when the devil I was coming after came into my office. I was reading about the obituaries of the employees of Renaissance before. I kept on working as she stood there with her hands on her hips."You are not using your office computer," Camilla said."How nice of you to notice," I replied as I continued reading."Every work related to Renaissance should be done using only company products, you have to type your work on your office computer, Mr. Moretti," She said professionally."I know the rules, Camilla but this is not company company work, this is personal," I told her.She gave me a look that said she did not believe me but I did not care."Mind telling me about this personal work of your?" Camilla asked."The only thing that I can tell you is that it is personal. Is there anything else I can do for you, Camilla?" I retorted curtly."As a matter of fact, there is," Camilla said and took a seat. I groaned inwardly. "Senator Kelly is inviting you t

Isabella 166."The report came back," Damien announced as he came out of the bathroom. He looked so hot and steamy with a towel wrapped tightly around his waist. He had another towel on his head and was cleaning his hair vigorously. The report he was talking about referred to the mysterious box that got sent to me. Inside the box was a severed male genitalia with the scrotum still attached. It had been surgically cut off. I felt sorry for whoever it belonged. Why would anyone even send that kind of vile thing to me?What was the reason behind it? I wondered as cold blood ran down my spine. It was so horrible to think about it and I knew that it would take a while for me to get over it.The cops had kept on asking me who I believed was behind it but there was nothing that I could tell them. I had an inkling that it would make things worse if I involved the police."You are not going to believe who it belonged to," Damien said as he went into his closet.I was not

Damien 167.I admired his bravery for coming to my house. I was fighting a lot of urge to throw him out but I did not think that Isabella was going to like that."How did you know about the package?" I asked him, more like demanded because I especially told the police to keep it hush."You are not as discreet as you think you are, Damien," Emilio replied with scoff."Can we all at least seat down?" Isabella asked."He is not welcome in my house, Isabella," I curtly."And you are not fit to be anyone's husband but here we are," Emilio replied sarcastically.I took a deep breath and balled my fist."You are pushing your luck, old man," I muttered under my breath and sat down."Dad? Please sit," Isabella said and I could vividly hear the soft endearment in her voice."Dad?" I asked in disbelief. "Since when?""Do not be so surprised, Damien, not everyone is like Vito," He spat out with malice. He was really pushing his luck."That is enough!" Isabella snapped

Damien As Camilla entered my office, I felt a mixture of relief and annoyance. She had a knack for interrupting at the most inconvenient times, but her presence also meant a break from the emotionally charged conversation with Natalia."Sorry to interrupt, Damien, but we have an urgent matter to discuss," Camilla said, her expression serious."Come back later, we are in the middle of a discussion," Natalia said arrogantly."Actually, we are done with what we were talking about, what do you need?" I said.Natalia whipped her head around to look at me. It was as if she could not believe that I could choose Camilla over her.Taking the cue, Camilla walked in and took a seat beside Natalia. It was not like I trusted her, in fact she was my number one enemy because of her immediate threat to my wife.Natalia refused to leave and I knew that another round of drama was imminent. The papers were still in Vito's hand as I kept the phone to my hear.My father had an inquisitive look on his face as he watched me closely. The line went dead and I put the phone back into my pocket. I collected the the contract and without breaking eye contact, slowly tore it up right in front of him.Vito's eyes widened in shock and utter disbelief. "What the fuck are you doing?" He yelled maniacally as he knelt on the floor trying in vain to join the piece of paper together in a futile attempt. For the first time in my life, I saw him for what he was. Damien I was watchful during the conference meeting. I took my time to really look at the board members sitting at the table to see if I could see a member of the Founder's Association but none were seated at this conference. Even Rose St Dumas was not present. Maybe she was preparing her cronies of corrupt businessmen and women for the final show down.Camilla Valdez was also not present but Natalia was. I could not tell what was going on in her head as she gazed at me. If her mother was one of them, did that not make her automatically part of tht fold? Was I over reaching? If the plan with the detective worked, it meant that a lot of people will inevitably get hurt. "What is the profit margin for today?" I asked as I got down to business. "Eight percent since last year," Natalia said in a professional manner. "That's lower than last two years," I said with a frown. "That was due to the Al Vegas controversy," One of the board members said. "You mean the embezzlement," I replied
