Oscar Baron was a man who'd lived in the shadows of his two eldest brothers his whole life. And as if that wasn't enough, he had watched the woman he loved get married to one of them as well.

His father, Ronald was the President of Baron Empires, a very global multimillion dollar merchandise but he was also diagnosed with an illness a few years back. After being in remission, he relapsed again but this time in a much more critical condition.

On his death bed, he redrafted his will—only because everyone wondered how he was going to share his wealth amongst his three sons and when it was made public, everyone met the shock of their ears. Ronald had decided to give all the wealth and assets to his name to just one of the Baron Brothers.

One of his sons.

And that was the first one to give him a child. They were bachelors with most of them resenting the idea of love and marriage but a will like this caught everyone off-guard that they soon began to wonder that it was not such a bad idea to find a wife.

Oscar had Francesca.

But all this time Francesca was in love with his second brother, Aaron whose eyes only cared about the fortune and he'd watched them get engaged and eventually married. Oscar knew how it felt to have your world crash and burn with you inside—he knew how it felt to hurt.

And as soon as he was about to give up his chase for his father's fortune that fateful day, he met her—Sofia Winters. The woman who'd dared to bump into his shoulders, the woman whose clothes he had in his hands for a second but whose scent lingered still. It reminded him so much of Francesca.

She reminded him so much of her—her pencil thin eyes and her glistening fair skin. Her lustrous brown hair that danced across her shoulders as he watched her walk away. He met her that day and was astounded, wishing that he got the chance to meet her again.

And in a twist of fate, Oscar did meet Sofia Winters again.

"Take her back home!" Her father's voice rang in her ears the very moment a glimpse of what life would be with Henderson flashed before her eyes and Sofia was reminded of how returning back was never an option.

She felt betrayed by Damien, filled with angst especially seeing him in the hands of her best friend. She had a lot of questions but most importantly, she needed to break free from the bodyguard.

And she did.

Sofia kicked him in his crotch and if you knew a man, that was his weakest point. He groaned in pain as he fell to the ground and let go of her hands. Her hair was a mess across her face as she hefted her middle fingers to both her father and Damien. "I hate you—" She mouthed once their eyes met.

"I hate you so much!" Came an echoing yell and leaving her bags behind, Sofia made the run from it because in a few seconds the bodyguard would be tailing right behind her. She picked up her pace and ran as fast as she could from a past that could very much haunt her. And tears suddenly trickled down her face, hazing her vision. Sofia carried on nonetheless, even as her lungs burned.

And the smell of dust made home in her nose.

She was deluded to think she was being followed after about half an hour when in reality, it was just her panting along a dark lonely street. It was after then her hands fell to her knees and she fell to the ground beneath a shady mahogany tree. Sofia breathed heavily from lips that lunged for water.

But looking around, she saw that she was deserted.

She didn't have her phone, neither did she have clothes nor water. It was what led Ferdinand to actually leave her to run—because he thought she would come back. Lying there, Sofia buried her face into her hands as she cried.

It made no sense that Damien would just abandon her when it was his plan to meet at the Towers. She had crossed beneath it but alone and maybe then she did realize that they were actually over.

It didn't stop the tears from streaming down her face.

Neither did it stop her heart from racing in her chest. She felt betrayed and sitting in her own solitude, she could feel her own breathes clog the back of her throat until she poor Sofia couldn't breathe. She was having a panic attack, the first of many.

And she learned how to deal with it, because looking round her, there really was nobody. She'd lost everyone including Damien that night. Her eyes were set on the full moon as she laid across the grasses and that was the last thing Sofia saw until morning.

She was first awoken by nature's sounds before the sun speared into her temples. Sofia yawned with her hands over her head and she gazed to the roads which were somewhat busy. She fell asleep beneath the tree—

—that's if three hours was considered enough sleep.

Plagued with a million thoughts and a headache, Isabella finally rose from the leaves with a sharp pain in her back. There was a bench not far from her and she took her sit in it. She heaved a deep breath, afraid to be considered as homeless. It was the fall from grace of the wealthy merchant's daughter.

She did have her wallets and she pulled it out to use the atm.

However, it seemed like Ferdinand had already blocked her access to her account, forcing a grudging sigh to escape her lips. Her hands fell to her waist as she groaned slightly. Sofia was hungry, and she was thirsty with no money.

But she also couldn't return home—it wasn't an option.

"Please" She faced heavenward with the last of her tears and she whispered. "Please, send me someone" Sofia wasn't big on fate and destiny but it was about to take her like a storm.

She had just a glimmer of hope to spare but it was more than enough because at the moment that was about to cross the road, tyres screeched next to her and a Mercedes Benz car came to a halt.

Winding the windows down, she remembered that face of his.

She lifted her countenanced gaze to him, pausing for a moment as she muttered. "What?" It was the same man from yesterday—the same man she had bumped into.

It was none other than Oscar Baron.

And in a well-tailored suit, he pulled off his glasses to take a good look at the woman in front of him and was instantly mesmerized yet again. He hoped to meet her again and there she was.

Like fate.

Beneath his eyelashes was an expression she couldn't quite put a finger on. Cold, icy gaze that bore deep into her soul and a dangerous aura swept between the two of them. He leaned forward to open the car to her and the door fell wide open. Sofia looked back and forth in confusion.

"Come in." He commanded with a voice as hard as himself. Sofia contemplated her options and as if she was compelled, her fingers found the heated handle.

"Oscar, is it?" She remembered him saying his name the previous day and he threw his head upon his shoulders when she was sat into his car. "Where are we going?" Sofia asked with much naivety just as the driver took off, only to replied with a silence.

The doors locked and the windows closed to the both of them and finally he did speak, saying the words—"Just wait and see." Their eyes met with a through-the-roof tension between them and Sofia pushed a hard lump down her throat.

"You just wait and see."
