There was an ATM opposite her little neighborhood. She put her bank card inside, and when she saw the number displayed on the screen, Jane clenched her teeth and withdrew two thousand bucks.

Once she had the money, she called a cab and said, “Please take me to…” It was only when she got into the car that she realized… she had been in such a hurry to run away, but she had nowhere to run to.

“Where are you going?” said the cabbie impatiently.

“Where am I going…?” Jane was dazed. She suddenly realized that despite the enormity of the world, she had nowhere to go.

“Are you going anywhere or not? If not, get out. I have business to do.” The cabbie frowned and gave Jane a look of contempt. Tsk… what was with his luck? He bumped into bad luck on his very first trip since leaving the house.

“...Sorry, I haven’t figured out where I want to go,” Jane said slowly. Although the cabbie was in a bad mood and snapped her, she did not fight back and even apologized pitifully. It made her seem especially weak-willed and pathetic.

The weak were trampled upon like rugs on the ground, and that had always been the way. The cabbie only grew angrier when he saw how weak she was being and vented all of his anger from losing money at mahjong that day onto her.

Hence, Jane took a loud berating from the cabbie, who screamed, “You pulled me over before you even figured out where you wanna go? Are you playing a prank on me?! What did your parents teach you? You’re so inconsiderate! Get out, get out of my car right now! Tch, what’s with my d*mn bad luck? I can’t believe I bumped into trash like you.”

Jane was not completely unaffected by that scolding, but… the three years she spent in prison had completely wiped her of her temper.

She lowered her eyelids and then raised her head again, apologizing slowly. “Sorry, I’ll get out right now.” Actually, she just wanted the cabbie to give her a couple of minutes so she could figure out where she wanted to go.

However, it seemed that the cabbie did not have much patience for her.

Her reply left the cabbie somewhat surprised. He had been driving for more than a decade, but he had never seen someone so weak-willed before. Jane was a little slow to open the car door, so he suddenly raised his hand at her…

“Ah! Don’t hit me!”

The cabbie was stunned. Jane sat in the passenger seat, her arms raised over her head as she shielded herself desperately, squawking, “Ah! Please don’t hit me!” The sight of her made the cabbie spit, “You’re nuts, I just wanted to open the door! Sheesh, how unlucky must I be to bump into a madwoman like you?”

With that, he hooked his hand around the handle and opened the door. “Now get lost!” Perhaps it was because he was in a bad mood after losing the money, or perhaps it was because Jane was just too easy to bully because she would not fight back, but the cabbie was even ruder to her now. He could even tell her to get lost.

Jane did not move quickly, getting out of the car slowly. That earned her some more scolding from the cabbie. “Get a move on, hurry up! Are you f*cking lame?”

Jane’s heart gave a jolt, and then she raised her head, looking at the driver solemnly as she corrected him, “I’m just a bit slow, not lame.”

The cabbie blinked. “You’re crazy!” He chased her away as soon as he insulted her, saying, “Get the f*ck away! I’m seriously unlucky to bump into you today. No wonder everything went wrong for me today, like how I lost so much money on such a safe draw.”

Now he was just blaming her for totally unrelated things.

“Hey, pay up.” The cabbie grabbed Jane’s wrist and held out his other hand at her. Jae was confused. “Pay what?”

You’re so unlucky, so I’ll have to wash your bad luck out of my car, don’t I? And that costs money, right?“...”When Jane did not move, the cabbie frowned and hastened her. “Hurry up! Why are you always wasting time?!”“But I…”“No buts. It’s one hundred bucks, pay up.”Jane’s expression contort

A second later, there were two knocks on the driver’s window. Jane heard a business-like voice outside the window, saying, “Kindly open the cab door.”The voice was very cold and official, without any hint of emotion. Although he used the word ‘please’, it was an order and not a request… Sean’s subordinates were just like him in that sense.Jane screamed at the cabbie, “Don’t open the door!” She said, “I’ll pay you…”Suddenly…Smash! There was a loud sound, and then the passenger’s side window shattered into pieces. That sudden escalation scared Jane out of her wits, but it also spooked the cabbie in the driver’s seat.“I-I-I’m calling the cops! That’s breaking the…” law!Swoosh! Just then, a stack of brand new notes rained down on the cabbie. There had to be about ten thousand by estimates alone. Outside the car window, a bodyguard with a crew cut and a black suit asked stiffly, “Can you open the car door now?”“Yes, yes, of course~! Right away!” The driver’s eyes sparkled at

Sean’s anger was overwhelming. He opened the car door with one hand and dragged her out of the car. “Do you really wanna kneel? Are your knees really that weak? Do you like kneeling so much?” Veins were throbbing on Sean’s perfect face, and he dragged Jane all the way to the entrance of East Emperor International Entertainment Center, tossing her onto the ground. “Since you like kneeling so much, show us, Jane Dunn! Put on a show for us, right here!”He really did not know why he was so angry!

Jane stood in front of Sean uneasily. Soon, someone knocked on the door, and Sean said in his deep magnetic voice, “Come on in.”Jane looked at the person who entered with some panic— It was Alora Smith, the one who had interviewed her three months ago.“Hi, Alora.” Jane’s heart was in her throat. She carefully glanced at Sean, who was sitting on a single-seater couch, and then she turned to look at Alora, who had suddenly appeared here. Her heart was pounding; she had no idea what this unreadable man was planning now.“Greetings, Mr. Stewart.” Alora was wearing a perfectly-tailored white suit, and it did not diminish her charms at all. She knew exactly how to behave in front of Sean, saying, “How may I help you, sir?”Jane found Alora’s attitude toward Sean a little strange, as though Sean was her patron or boss… What Jane did not know was that Sean really was Alora’s big boss. Jane had spent three years in prison, after all, and everything had changed in those three years.“Do y

The more Jane thought about it, the harder she shook her head. “No, Mr. Stewart, I don’t want to go to the P.R. department.” She pleaded in a panic, “I know I was wrong, please spare me, Mr. Stewart. I already did three years in jail and paid the price for what I did. Give me my bank card, sir, and I’ll disappear right away. I’ll go far, far away, and I swear that you’ll never see me again.”All Jane could do was plead. She did not notice the surprise in Alora’s eyes when the latter heard about

Jane turned around to look at Alora, giving her a tragic smile. It was only then that Alora saw the bloody teeth marks on Jane’s pale lips. “A-Are you alright?” Alora asked.“I’m fine.” Jane stood up, her body swaying. Alora could not bear to see her that way, so she was about to help Jane when Jane steadied her footing, giving Alora a pale but grateful smile. “Thank you, Alora.”“Are... you sure you’re fine?” Alora could see that Jane could barely stand straight, so it was really hard for her

That was precisely the time when business started booming here. The entire P.R. department was empty, and she was the only one left in the waiting room. All of her colleagues in the department had left to do their jobs. To be honest, every member of the P.R. department here at East Emperor earned quite a lot. The clientele co
