Alpha Leander stomped into his throne room, fuming with Helia trailing behind him.

"Sebastian!" He yelled as he sat on his throne and a lanky young lad rushed into the throne room and knelt before him.

"When will be the next full moon night?"

"A month from now," the lad answered.

"How are our spies doing?"

"Staying in Wulfe as a spy during the day is hard for a regular werelion because of Nyx's curse. I've been able to find a few lionless werelions but they are not quite experienced. However, news has reached me from them that ever since Alpha Janus' attack, the army of Wulfe has been preparing for a strike back from Khron."

Alpha Leander roared on hearing Sebastian's report.

"But, my Lord, I've also heard that Alpha Janus cares less about his people. The soldiers of werewolves he recruited are being trained specially to protect him and not the grassroots werewolves."

"Foolish Alpha," Alpha Leander snorted. "He believes that all were-creatures would be under him soon and is not concer

"Father, let him go," Helia pleaded."What a joke," Alpha Leander snorted. "Father sins. Son pays. Fair enough.""Then I should be killed for being the daughter of the woman that cursed Khron and Wulfe," Helia retorted and Alpha Leander scoffed."The father is evil, but the son isn't. He in fact hates his father for his father's deeds.""And, you believe that is true. The son of that wicked wolf has filled your head with lies. He is here to spy on Khron. Why shouldn't I kill a spy in my kingdom?" Alpha Janus snapped."He saved me from his people while I was at Wulfe. If he had not saved me, I would have died that day. I owe him my life and I won't let you kill him no matter what.""Stop making things too hard," Alpha Leander warned and Helia scoffed. She stood in front of Rendall shielding him from whatever his father had planned to use to attack him."Leave," her father growled but she stood still, staring at him defiantly."Well," Alpha Leander shrugged. "Let's see how long you can

"Your Highness." Montague rushed to stand beside Rendall and before Alpha Janus. "He must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Please, pardon him. He's still half asleep.""Who is half asleep?!" Rendall barked. "Everyone here knows how wrong he is to not bother about the werewolves that are being killed.""You're the people's hope," Montague whispered only to his hearing. "Don't die.""Have mercy upon him, my Lord." Montague knelt. He looked up at Rendall and then to the ground, signaling him to kneel. Rendall stood firm, looking back at his father defiantly. Montague dragged Rendall to the ground, so he joined him in kneeling."Rise," Alpha Janus ordered."Thank you, Great One." Montague stood to his feet but Rendall kept on kneeling. Montague dragged him up till he was on his feet.Laughing nervously, Montague looked up to the Alpha. "He really is half asleep." Rendall stomped out of the throne room."I'd look after him," Montague announced before running after Rendall. "Re

"Outrageous!" Alpha Leander roared from his throne as he heard that the son of his rival who was caught kissing his daughter a few moments ago had escaped."He was with her before I came to this place. She must have performed her spell again," the prison guard who had reported to him earlier said with his eyes on the ground."What will I do with this girl? She is crossing the line." Alpha Leander's hands were clasped on his head as he thought hard."She has crossed the line already," Ulfa stated. "She must be handled well. If she isn't, it will pose much trouble for us in the future."What do you suggest?" Alpha Leander asked."She should be treated with an iron fist. You've always been too gentle with her and that's why she has become defiant. You have to be tough with her.""My daughter is dear to my heart," Alpha Leander confessed with a sad look. "I can't bring myself to treat her harshly. A few hours after I had sent her to the dungeon, I asked her maids to get her something to e

Helia's eyes were glossed with tears as she sat behind bars with her clothes torn. Her skin was torn too as blood stains were all over it.She quickly wiped the tears that were on her face as she saw Ariela heading toward her."What are you doing here? You'd get into trouble if you're seen." Helia's voice was raspy and scratchy."I heard how much you were mistreated and I could not stop myself from rushing here," Ariela said with a concerned look etched on her face."Go. I don't want you to get into trouble because of me," Helia said dryly and Ariela shook her head in disagreement."I'm not leaving until you eat something," Ariela said and she turned to the prison guard. "Open up. I want to go in," Ariela ordered but he ignored her."Are you deaf? Have you forgotten who I am?""You're a nobody now. You're no longer what you used to be. You're no longer the Luna. You should know your place," the prison guard spat. Ariela bared her teeth and before the guard could realize, she drew out

"Alpha Janus. Long time no see."Alpha Janus smirked and closed the door behind him as he got into the room. On the bed was Mr. Wilkinson with the usual blue apparel of patients in a hospital."I'm happy to see you. Don't you feel the same?" Alpha Janus took a seat on the armchair beside his bed and crossed his legs."What do you want?" Mr. Wilkinson droned."Is it bad to visit an old friend?""We're not friends. We were supposed to be partners. You won't be here if you don't have something we would both gain from, so what are you bringing to her table?""You're very smart. That's one of the reasons I like you and also the reason I'm here. I truly have something that would interest you. It's good news actually.""What is it?""Nyx is dead," Alpha Janus smirked and Mr. Wilkinson cackled."Excellent news!""It is truly excellent. We can go on with our initial agreement.""Yes, we can, but it's sad that it won't be soon.""Why wouldn't it?" Alpha Janus asked."I would not be leaving this

Rendall was stopped in his tracks as he got to Alecto's door. The door was opened but Rendall was hesitant to go into the door."My door is wide open. Why don't you come in?" Rendall heard Alecto's voice from inside the house and he took a deep breath."I'm coming in," Rendall announced and with hesitant steps, he got into the house.Alecto sat on his heaps of back and like the first time he had walked into the house, his back faced him."This is the only place you can have peace of mind, right?" Alecto said flatly and Rendall nodded even if Alecto could not see him."You know why I'm here, don't you?" Rendall asked and Alecto chuckled."I know everything, don't I?" Alecto replied and Rendall smiled wryly."I don't want to do it," Rendall continued, "but I need to.""You've made up your mind. Why are you here?""Won't you try to stop me?" "Was that what you had expected of me? Do you want me to persuade you to not do it?"Rendall sighed in frustration. The answer to Alecto's question

"Alpha Leander." Alpha Leander shut his eyes in pain as he heard his name being called out again. It was the hundredth time he heard his name and it had been barely two hours since the sunset and since he had shifted to his human form."What?" He asked as the old werelioness who had called him knelt before him. He wondered why he kept on asking the question over and over again. It was probably the same news he had been hearing since sunset."Our food and water supply have run dry. Werelions are dying from hunger.""I know.""Since there's no food, werelions have begun to eat each other.""What?!" Alpha Leander's eyes snapped open. He was forced to stand up straight. This was the height of it. "They've been what?" Alpha Leander thought he had heard her wrongly. Perhaps, he had not heard her well."Werelions are eating each other," the old werelioness repeated herself and he dashed out of his throne room."Hunter!" He called out as he got out of the throne room and the burly man appeare

"Where is the food you'd be giving to the werelions?" Alpha Leander droned. "Why are you faster than your shadow? Slow down.""I just want food for my people," Alpha Leander stated and Alpha Janus smirked."The day is over already. You all would have to wait till the next day," Alpha Janus laughed maniacally."You said you would give Khron food," Leander snarled. "We never agreed on the time I would give Khron food." Alpha Janus grinned and Leander snarled."You said you would give us food," Leander snarled. "I don't care if we had agreed on a time or not. All I know is that you had agreed on giving us food and the were-creatures of Khron are hungry now and need food to eat. Give us food now.""I said I'd give Khron food tomorrow. You don't have the right to object because I only agreed on giving Khron food. I did not agree wit

She felt her heart freeze, hoping it was not what she thought. Hoping that whatever she had done had worked.Helia's eyes snapped open and when they did, they moved to Rendall, then to Alpha Janus and they dilated. The son stared at the father and the father stared back. One of them was on their knees, gasping for his last breath."F— father?" Rendall's voice quivered.Alpha Janus' head was bowed in shame."You tried to kill me?" Shock was written all over Rendall's face. He knew that his father was evil and despite the threats, he never really thought that his father could try to kill him."Save me.""I can't. If I could, I still wouldn't. You deserve what has befallen you," Rendall spat disdainfully.Helia s

He began to look around and Helia sighed."You can't see me, remember?" "Oh! You're right. You're under an invisibility spell. You were still in my father's room after I had left, right?""Yes.""And you heard Mr. Wilkinson and my father talk about me, right?""Yes.""What did they say?"Rendall's question was followed by a long silence."Your father. He is so—""Evil?""Evil is too weak to describe what he is. No offense, but I'd rather not have a father than have a father like yours.""I know right? So, what did he say?" Rendall asked and he raised an eyebrow as he heard her sigh again."We have to be cautious.""What did my father say?""That he'd kill you if he finds out that you're trying to trick him," Helia said and Rendall chuckled sarcastically."Well, I'm not surprised. He'd do anything for power. Do you hear

"Everything that happened, happened according to how it was fated to. All this happened for one result. The werewolves are getting punished for taking the land of the witches. The werelions are punished for not helping their neighbors." "How do we get out of her punishment?" Helia asked "That's for you both to figure out. You both have the knowledge you need to break the curse of Khron and Wulfe. You have to. It is your destiny to do so." "Since we are destined to save Wulfe and Khron, we'll do so, right?" Rendall asked and Alecto smiled. "We have destinies. We can also choose whether or not we want our destinies. You can choose to save the werewolves and werelions. You can also choose not to save the werewolves and the werelions," Alecto answered with a casual shrug and Helia and Alecto glanced at each other. "We have to take down both my father and Mr. Wilkinson," Rendall said and Helia scoffed. "Like you would really take down your father. You would surely betray us," Helia s

"Do you really have to go? Again?" Damien looked downcasted. "Please, don't leave. Stay a little longer." Helia and Rendall exchanged glances. They both looked sad too. "We have to go. We have a curse to break," Rendall explained and Damien looked up at him with his eyes glossed with tears. Rendall's heart melted at the sight and he took Damien into his arms and hugged him. "Aunt." Damien turned to Helia with his body still glued to that of Rendall. "Please hug me too." Helia opened her arms and Damien gestured for her to come closer instead. "But—" Damien's face fell, interrupting Helia's protest. She waved her hands in surrender and joined them. Rendall froze as her skin touched his. His heart began to flutter and so did Helia's. At that moment, they both realized that the rejection did not work. Damien smiled to himself when he saw them look at each other. He disengaged from the hug and as he did, Rendall and Helia were in each other's arms without Damien acting as a middl

Mr. Wilkinson smirked at Alpha Janus, brought another pair of eye contacts, and gave it to him."What do you think?" Mr. Wilkinson asked when Alpha Janus wore it and Alpha Janus looked at him."How do you use this? Can you hypnotize simply by looking a person in the eye or do you have to do something else?"Mr. Wilkinson raised an eyebrow as soon as he heard Alpha Janus' question and then he grinned. "Why are you trying to move faster than your shadow?"Alpha Janus was thrown off guard by Mr. Wilkinson's question before he quickly put himself together. "I'm just very curious, you know. I'd really love to know.""You seem—" Mr. Wilkinson's voice trailed off and Alpha Janus frowned.‘Just tell me how to freaking use the Gizmo, stupid human,’ Alpha Janus cursed in his mind."Your thoughts matter too. "Werewolves and witches have a history?" Rendall was shocked."A painful one at that. Haven't you heard any folklore concerning it? Or at least a myth? You werewolves are good at telling fake stories anyways just for storytelling's sake."Rendall scoffed and looked back at the book. "Let's check out what is written in it. Do you think it's because of the history that Nyx cursed Wulfe too?""My mother did a great job by cursing the werewolves. I would have done the same," Helia said."Let's just check the book," Rendall said. He was tired of hearing Helia's complaints. She rolled her eyes, removed the book away from his face, and opened it."What's written in it?" Rendall joined her in checking the book and they both turned white as they flapped through the pages. The book was telling a story. It was a story of how the werewolves had forcefully taken the land of witches away from them.A long time ago, werewolves had no particular land. They formed packs that were ruled by an Alpha. A

"Please, don't send us away," Helia pleaded and Damien's grandfather scowled at her."Get out," he growled. "Daughter of a witch. Heaven knows if she's a witch like her mother. You probably want to take all I have away from me.""But—""If you don't leave now, I'd make sure I kill you with my own hands," Damien's grandfather threatened. "It will be fair enough anyways. Helia closed her eyes. Her greatest nemesis had caught up with her without her seeing any way of getting out of it. So, Helia stood, expecting an impact.Suddenly, she heard the sound of a bullet striking flesh. Helia froze. She wondered where the bullet had struck. She wondered if she would die anytime soon. Helia placed her middle finger under her nose to know if she was still breathing. She was. She placed her hands on her chest. Her heartbeat was normal."Does death come this slowly?" Helia asked herself and immediately she felt something lift her. She snapped her eyes open and as she did, she screamed.Peering down at her was a blue-eyed white beast. She batted her lashes as it dawned on her that it was Rendall in his wolf form. She was in the arms of Conri, Rendall's wolf."From frying pan to fire," Helia muttered to herself. She looked away from his face to their surroundings and gasped. Lying on the floor were Alpha Janus and his warriors. They looked lifeless and Helia wond

"You're joking, right?" Rendall frowned as he heard Alecto's words."Joking? Should your father killing Alpha Leander surprise you? You of all people know the kind of person your father is.""But he promised me that he would not kill Leander and Ariela told me she did. Why would Ariela tell me she killed Alpha Leander when she did not.""He he. All I know is that your father has a hand in Helia's father's death.""How do you know the things you know? Who are you?""He he! You'd be the first were-creature to ask who I am. The rest assume they know but I can assure you that I'm not what they think I am.""Then, who are you?""You would know how with time," Alecto smirked. "All you have to know now is to go to the human world to Nyx's house.""Nyx's house? But we—""Helia is on her way there," Alecto chipped in and Rendall did not bother to argue again."Did my father really kill hers?" Rendall looked down at his feet and Alecto heaved a sigh."I warned you not to ask me that it'll hurt.
