"Now that I've known that you're innocent, I'm offering to help you prove your innocence to Helia."Rendall stood by his bed and watched Damien, who was sprawled on his bed."Why do you want to help me? What's in it for you?" Rendall stared at him with a puzzled look."Nothing. I just hate it when bad people win.""Oh! I see… ""You have a phone, right? You should have taken a recording of what she was saying.""My phone wasn't with me.""Tsk! Tsk!" Damien shook his head in disapproval. "Creepy uncle, you had lost a good chance to prove your innocence to Helia and I don't think she'd say anything the second time you go.""Are you sure you aren't an old man trapped in the body of a ten-year-old?" Rendall raised an eyebrow. The boy on his bed was too wise for his age."Exactly." Damien snapped his finger. "That's why you need me. Since I'm a child, Danica won't see me as someone who can double-cross her and would be less cautious with me.""Do you have a plan?""You were her childhood f
Helia and Damien gasped as Damien's grandfather slumped."I wonder what he was doing here?" Damien shrugged casually."Your grandfather saw us.""Don't worry. Just help me take him to his room. He'd be in a deep sleep for hours and when he wakes up, I would just tell him he was dreaming."Helia chuckled as they both stepped out of the elevator."And he'll believe you?""Why won't he?" Damien said confidently. "Just help me take him to his room and leave the rest to me. I know how to deal with my grandfather perfectly well."********************"Your grandfather had seen Helia?" Rendall frowned at Damien. He was sitting on the only chair in his room, eating dates like nothing big had happened. His grandfather had seen him and Helia walk out of an elevator that was not supposed to be in his underground and he was not bothered."Yes, he had but he's asleep now. When he wakes up, I'd fix everything," Damien answered nonchalantly."What are you doing here? Why aren't you with him now?""D
Helia found it difficult to breathe after reading what was written on the paper she was holding. Her strong grip on the paper weakened and it fell to the ground. Damien rushed to it, picked it up, and gasped."Your mother is a witch?" Damien could not absorb what was written on the paper."What?!" Damien turned around to see Rendall behind Danica. Rendall had made her kneel before him with her back facing him and the weight of his hands pressing down her shoulders.Helia stood on her feet and laughed sarcastically. "Did you see it? Did you see how they lied to me?""Helia," Rendall called out softly."They lied to me," Helia whispered. Her voice sounded strained. "I thought I knew the truth but they lied to me. Father lied to me. Mother— the one who I had thought was my mother—"Helia's voice trailed off. Loads of painful thoughts swirled around her brain. Helia's hand reached out to her head and she winced in pain as it did nothing to ease the pain she was in. She could feel her stre
Helia stared at the opened journal blankly. Before her eyes were words describing Danica's atrocities. These words were plastered on the pages before her for her to see and be tormented.Helia's face turned white as she flipped the page.‘I tricked the fool today.’ Helia gnashed her teeth as she read the first sentence of the page. ‘I made her make a love potion that will help me take her mate away. She would face the pain while I'd gain. Hehe! Hehe!’She scanned through the paragraphs and continued reading from where had caught her attention.‘I just tricked everyone into thinking that Rendall had raped me. That foolish mate of Rendall seriously does not deserve him. Even I, who is not his mate would never believe that Rendall can rape a girl. I'm the one who knows Rendall better so I'm the one who deserves him and I'd get him. The nitwit he calls his mate is helping me greatly.’"That bitch," Helia cursed in a whisper. A tear dropped as memories of how she had insulted Rendall flash
"I can't believe Selene got sold to the spirituals of Ocean Ville by her family," Helia said. "She thought Ocean Ville was her home. Too bad!"Damien watched Helia and Rendall through his tears as they checked their luggage to see if anything was missing."Please, don't leave," Damien pleaded. "This place is fantastic." Damien's grandfather looked around, not minding that Helia and Rendall were packing up."Grandpa," Damien held on to his grandpa's shirt and cried out, "please ask them to stay back.""If they want to leave, they can. Why should I stop them?" Damien's grandfather freed himself from Damien's grip and continued to feast his eyes on beautiful interior design."The witch must have put in a lot of magic to make this place this beautiful."Helia paused what she was doing and turned to the old man with a raised eyebrow. "How do you know m—" Helia grimaced as she realized what she was about to say. "How do you know Nyx was a witch?""She told my son. That was of course before
"What do you mean by he is to be killed soon?" Rendall bared his teeth at the beefy man and he trembled in fear."I'm not the one who sets these rules," the man protested as he saw that Rendall was about to take out his anger on him."Take me to where they are," Rendall ordered and the hefty man nodded."I— I will." His voice quavered. "Just let me lead the way.""He can disappear, remember." Helia mouthed and Rendall nodded."If you try to escape, we will expose you to your nemesis," Helia threatened. "So just stand up and lead us to where our friends are being kept without making any funny movement."The beefy man stood on his feet and with Rendall making sure that he didn't escape, he led the way. They stopped in front of a familiar house and Helia gasped."This was where we were imprisoned the other time.""Yes, it's the place," Rendall agreed to her words."I just hope Brient and Selene are okay.""Me too.""You've been imprisoned here before?" The beefy man asked with his eyes b
"Shut that fart hole you call a mouth!" Rendall snarled and the burlyman closed his mouth immediately.Brient shot a worried look at both Rendall and Helia."We would make her help us," Helia said with a straight face. "Whether she likes it or not, Olivia must help us.""Open the door," Helia ordered and the burlyman's eyes widened in terror."But—""She told you to open the door," Rendall snarled, waving his container of ants at him and he gulped. He stared at the door and back to Rendall's container of ants and pondered on which he should be more afraid of. Was it the wrath of one of the most valuable individuals in the community? Or the wrath of vengeful individuals who are determined to save their friend with life-threatening ants."I won't repeat myself, open the door!" Rendall ordered and without thinking any much further, the burlyman rushed to the door and pushed the heavy doors open.As he did, the picture of Olivia sitting on the ground in a yoga position with her eyes close
"Why would Selene send us away?" Helia looked at Olivia's face for answers. She took a look at the rest. They were as confused as she was. They were happy to see Selene but Selene had sent them away from her palace and now she was in Olivia's place, sitting with Brient and Rendall at her table while they pondered upon the reason for Selene's reaction."I still can't believe that it was Selene standing there at the time." Brient shook his head vigorously. "It can't be her. It can't be my Selene. The woman we saw isn't Selene. She must have been her look-alike.""That bitch," Olivia cursed. "She drove us away without even thinking twice. Just a little power and she is misbehaving.""Brient is right. This does not look like something Selene would do," Helia said thoughtfully."I totally agree," Rendall said and it got Olivia thinking."This place is really strange. A spirit medium is treated like royalty," Rendall commented and shook his head."And this has gotten to that fool's head. Yo
