Adrianna's pov

I was still awestrucken by such an unusual request yet he appears to be so calm about it, "Why will he approach me of all people?" I kept asking myself.

It's been a week since the incident and I couldn't help but wonder if he was in his right senses, Why can't he just get married rather than getting a contract marriage.

I didn't think about it too much I had a lot of work to do while I still washing dishes during my shift at another restaurant, I got a call from my friend Kristana.

"Hey Kristy" I mumbled while placing my phone on the right side of my ear, Using my shoulder as support to hold it in place while I work.

"Anna!!" She squealed in glee, I could hear music from the background, "Having fun without me huh?" I roll my eyes it's not like I care, I don't even have time for myself not to talk of partying and having fun.

"That's a joke right?, We both know you would never go out with me to have some fun, Anyways that's not why I called I'll be dropping by your house today see ya soon" She blew kisses and hung up.

She was right anyways I would never pay her any attention I can't even remember the last time I went to a party since my mom's illness, I really need more money right now cause my mom wasn't getting any better.

I left the restaurant heading for the hospital to see my mom, getting there I called the nurse "Good evening miss" She greeted and I responded with a nod while staring at my mother "How is she doing?" I asked walking to her bedside.

"Her condition is getting critical and the earlier the surgery commence the better for her" She advised and walked out of the ward leaving me alone with my mother, I stared at her with glassy eyes my mom is my everything how will I survive if anything happens to her.

I left the hospital with a heavy heart this time I knew that if I don't act fast I might lose my mom, I would never let that happen not when I'm still alive and breathing.

I went to my small apartment I call it small but in reality it was like a mouse hole even tinier than a mouse hole, A sofa that has been in existence since I was born was the only thing in the living room, the kitchen is nothing to write about the whole place was a pigsty that was as a result of my workaholic lifestyle I hardly had time to clean up the house.

My room was not left out the rags I call cloths were scattered all over the place I untied my hair and took off my shirt, I need to clean up before Kristana comes to visit but first I need a shower.

I reminisced about the past and how happy we used to be, it was just me and my mom nothing else mattered all of a sudden all that changed, I tasted a salty liquid as the droplets of water rained on me it was useless crying over this but I couldn't help it I just need miracle, I don't believe in miracles but in this case I need one.

I stepped out of the bathroom and I thought I was hallucinating when I heard voices from the living room, I opened the door only to see the living room less disorganized.

"What in the world is wrong with you!" Kristana yelled from behind me, She was cleaning up the living room.

"Nice to see you too" I grinned in a silly manner provoking her to roll her eyes, "Go get dress while I make dinner" She replied and walk pass me heading for the kitchen.

"Thanks Kris" I yelled after her, "Oh heavens!" She screamed as soon as she entered the kitchen and I chuckled understanding what she was screaming about,"Adrianna!!" I giggled slamming the door to the room shut.

After dressing up I waited for some time before coming out when the coast is clear or so I thought.

"You need help seriously" She spewed as soon as she saw me, I walked to the table which was filled with some delicacies when I felt like I was already busted.

"Yeah you are right about that expect I need help financially not otherwise" I said grabbing a cupcake from the table before she could stop me.

"How is mom doing?" She asked taking a seat beside me, I stopped munching the cake when I heard about my mom seeing my reaction she started patting my back.

"She is fine" I mumbled and continued with the cake while she stared at my face in a suspicious manner.

"What?" I asked pretending like I didn't know why she was giving me such looks, "Now let's try again this time just be honest with me" She said softly.

I sighed of course she could tell if I was lying we have being friends since high school, the truth is I don't want to bother her with my problems she had helped me a lot when it comes to paying the bills.

"She is getting worse but I found a way to take care of the surgery" I lied pressing my lips into a thin line.

"I'm listening" She probed giving me another suspicious look, "It's complicated but don't worry about it" I smiled at her.

She didn't look pleased at my reply but she knows if I decided not to say anything I won't, "Okay if you say so but the next time I visit and see this place in a messy condition, I swear Imma crucify your ass not kidding Ann" She warned sternly as I laughed at her empty threats.

"You need to see the room" I cracked up again while she frowned at me, "It's not funny seriously mom would never be happy if you're living in such a miserable habit" She scolded once again bringing up my mom knowing fully well it would hit me hard, and she won because it did.

"Can we just eat now?" I forced a smiled while she nod her heading in reply.

"You know what I think?" She started again and I grunted inside, "What?" I asked dryly.

"You need a man" She gave me a smug grin while I threw my head backwards in frustration, She went on and on talking about how I needed a companion if only she knew I wasn't even listening.

After she left I took her advice on cleaning up the room then I stumbled on a photo of my mom, It brought back memories and I couldn't stop the tears from flowing freely.

I had no idea how I would pay for her surgery I don't even know who to run to, just then I remembered the guy who approached me a week ago.

"Tristan" I mumbled trying to recall if I threw his card away, I remembered he dropped his card on the table before he left and I took it home.

I searched for it and finally found it but what will he say to me after I rejected his offer, " It's better to try than do nothing at all" I dialed the number and after the second ring I heard a cool masculine voice.

"Hello?" He said sounding tired.

"It's me Adrianna I'm sorry for calling at this time of the night" I apologized and he was silent for a moment so I continued.

"I thought about your offer so I have decided to accept" I said and he was still silent.

"Hello?" I called wondering if he was even listening, "Meet me at Cleo's Cafe by 12 noon" He said and hung up.

Wait that's it!, How rude of him I can't even believe this.. Well it's not like I have a choice I exhaled and collapse on my bed.

How didn't I tell him I want to stay away from work for a while?” I hesitated before I finally picked his call. “Why are you?” I was about to vent when I heard what he said to me. “What are you talking about?” I asked to confirm if what I heard was correct or I was already hearing things. I was left dumbfounded when he confirmed what he said to me, I can't believe Lyla went through my belongings when she was here. “I'll go see how things are on the internet.” I said to him and ended the call. And why am I here?” I asked Tristan whilst I was still looking at his face. Tristan face could already make it obvious to me that there's something wrong but he's not ready to talk to me about it. “Hey, what matters the most is your health, you need to get better first.” Tristan said to me trying to avoid the question I asked him. I could already figure out from the way he was behaving that there's something wrong but no matter how many times I ask he's not going to answer me. I turned facing the other side of the flom so that Tristan will know that I'm upset he's lying. It's very obvious that he was avoiding the truth and no later what the problem is I know that I deserve to be told the truth. Time was slowly fading and I was still in the hospital. He turned to look at me and smiled. “How are you doing?” He asked me with a brother's smile on his face. It’s been a while since Tristan stayed long at home, so it was kind of weird having him at home today.“I’m doing great.” I replied to him excitedly and sat on the couch beside him. Tristan looked like he was very invested in what he was reading so I didn’t think it was the right time to talk to him about what happened yesterday. We were both quiet for a while, I was still sitting there thinking of how to start the conversation but I couldn’t think of any better way to bring it up. “Lyla was here.” Tristan paused what he was doing the moment he heard what I said, don’t know if my tonight was right but I just had to say something to him. “Was she allowed inside the house? I remember warning them not to let her in.” He said to me looking very worried, it felt goo
