Amelia was able to keep her anger at bay until they got into the elevator and she moved away from him but just as she was about to reopen the topic and scold him, Sylvia who had just resumed work joined them, smiling brightly and cheerfully and Ryan took that moment of distraction to pull Amelia against him with her back pressed to his chest. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed a kiss to her neck, not minding his secretary’s presence.

Amelia blushed, mortified at his attitude but Sylvia didn’t mind the show of affection.

“I must have disrupted something,” she wiggled her brows at Amelia who tried to object but Ryan spoke first.

“Nothing much. You just saved my head,”

“Ohh…tell me about it,”

“She wants to leave my home and I said no,”

“You threatened me.” Amelia chimed in, enunciating her words and struggling to pull away from his iron hold.

“Mmm…it’s still the same as refusing,”

Amelia shook her head, gritting her teeth. The man was simply impossible and she wasn’t going

Amelia was dressed in a little black dress and seven inches heels, standing before the full-length mirror in the bedroom with a frown on her face. Much to her disapproval, Ryan had made her dress up for the fundraiser. Just to try and hide her appearance from the watchful eyes of the paparazzi, she’d let down her long hair, styling it to fall down the sides of her face to her shoulders and down her back.Ryan, impeccably dressed in a tuxedo, came up behind her, circling her waist with his arms and pushing some of her hair out of his way to expose her shoulders to him. Leaning down, he pressed his lips firmly to her soft spot, biting down on it until she let out a squeal.“Relax, Princess. You’ll be alright,”“It’s easy for you to say when you won’t be the prey of the gossip-hungry paparazzi,” she spat out in irritation.Ryan heaved a distressful sigh. He’d gone over this with her for the entire week but she still wouldn’t let it go. He needed his assistant by his side and he’d be damn

“No one important,” came Ryan’s response.Amelia’s gaze darkened, her eyebrows pinching together. She couldn’t believe Ryan would open his mouth to say such after the display the woman had just given.“Really?” she flung her arm from his hold, glaring at him.His jaw clenched.“Yes.”Amelia nodded slowly, taking a step away from him. She had the mind to walk out on him but a glance around showed her that there were more than a few eyes on them. She wasn’t even surprised. The way the woman had acted with Ryan, despite her presence, was enough to raise brows and attract attention. But she was also wise enough to know that walking out on him at this moment will raise more gossip and they’d end up being the talk of the evening and she wasn’t ready for that.Luckily for her, a man walked into the stage, stealing everyone’s attention as he informed them that the event was about to begin and they could take their seats. Swallowing down her anger, she let Ryan hold her and lead her towards th

The next morning saw Ryan at his parent's home, walking through the door into the living room to see his mom there, with a warm smile on her face. But it did nothing to ease the ball of dread and anxiety that had settled deep in the pit of his stomach from the moment he received his father's call the previous night.Clifford Davidson rarely called him for anything other than to know the progress of the family business. For him to call him for breakfast at home, meant he had something serious to discuss, and Ryan sure as hell knew it had to deal with his unmarried state.Truly, he wasn’t impressed by his parent's involvement in his personal life but all thanks to the family he came from, there was nothing like privacy. From a very young age, one's life was discussed and tabled publicly for the entire extended family to have an opinion and that would soon be the case for him if he’s unable to do the right thing and take off the pressure from his parents. His thirtieth birthday was in a

Although he wasn’t so bothered about it, claiming it would be good for their relationship, in the long run, she wasn’t ready to call such attention to herself. She knew it would cause a major scandal in the company and she’d be seen as a gold-digger who was warming Ryan’s bed just to remain in her position in the company and she knew she’d lose the respect she had amongst other employees. She didn’t want to expe

Amelia was clearing up her desk when Ryan walked into her office, ready to take her out for lunch.“Ready?” he asked, leaning over her desk and staring down at her small form, with her honey-brown orbs gazing at him.A blush stole across her cheeks.“Umm… y-yeah,”He smiled at her and reached for her, gently cupping her cheek. Amelia blinked, subconsciously leaning into his hold as he continued staring into her eyes.“I need you to do a little something for me before we leave,” he said.“What is it?”His gaze darkened, eyes still holding hers.“Take off your panties,”The words made her gasp, her eyes widening but at the same time, her blush deepened, her pupils dilating and her breath coming out in short pants.“W-why?” she breathed out in a barely audible voice.Ryan’s thumb slowly traced the outline of her lips, while watching the lust come to life in her and seeing how pretty she looked with her skin flushing over with a tinge of pink.“You’ll see,” he growled in a husky voice.Am

Amelia and Ryan walked out of the restaurant hand-in-hand, with smiles on their faces. They’d had a wonderful time and compared to the meals she was used to at the cafe opposite DCL, this place made heavenly meals and she’d confessed that to Ryan while they ate.“I'm glad I brought you here,” he told her as they got into the car, ready to head back to work.“Me too, it was lovely,” Amelia responded, smiling appreciatively.“We should do this more often,”“But you don’t have to,” she tried objecting but Ryan caught her hand in his, linking their fingers together and slowly caressing her palm with his thumb.“We don’t have to but I want to Princess, I want to do everything for you,”Amelia blushed hard, her cheeks turning a deep shade of pink and her heart hammering against her chest. It was late in the evening when Ryan pulled up at Lara’s home to see the compound was filled with different expensive cars and the soft music playing inside the house sailed into his ears.He remained seated in the car even after his driver, Smith killed off the roaring engine. Truly, he had no interest in Lara’s party but after Lara informed him that his mom would be attending he knew there was no escape plan for him. She’d see through all of his excuses and that could mean trouble. The last thing he wanted was for the woman to mount more pressure on him regarding his non-existent union with Lara.Releasing a deep breath, he alighted from the car, fixed the button on his custom-made suit, and walked towards the house. As he passed, cameras flashed, capturing him but he disregarded them. This was the exact reason he’d left Amelia at home. After the little chaos Lara had caused in his office, he’d been able to save his head by explaining the circumstances to Amelia and why he couldn’t t

  • A Contract with the Billionaire    Fifty-three: Chaos

It was a bright Monday morning for Amelia as she prepared to leave for work with Ryan, after putting all the events of the weekend behind her. The previous night, she had an argument with Ryan, concerning attending Lara’s party but after much persuasion from him and explaining why he needed to be there, Amelia had let him go, telling herself that he might be spending a few hours with Lara but at the end of the night, he was coming home to her. As petty as that sounded, it made her feel better and she even stayed up to wait for him. He was surprised to see her awake when he returned from the party. Amelia hummed to a familiar tone as she walked into the kitchen, all dressed for work to see Dora dressed for school, settled in Ryan’s legs while having her cereal. Ryan on the other hand was sipping from his hot coffee. The sounds of her heels clicking against the floor called their attention as their gaze met hers, with smiles on their faces. “Good morning, mommy,” Dora said in a song-s

  • A Contract with the Billionaire    Epilogue: A new beginning?

Epilogue: A new beginning?Amelia stood at the entrance of the magnificent church building, dressed in her flowing wedding dress, with the transparent lacy material of her veil covering her face, and Liu holding onto her arm.Two months after her visit to his home, he got well and the preparations for her second wedding ceremony began. She’d asked him to walk her down the aisle and Liu had been honored.“Ready?” he asked, flashing her a loving smile and Amelia grinned in response.“Always,” Surprising her, he leaned in and gently brushed his lips to her temple.“I’m glad I made it to this day, and that you asked me to do this,”Tears welled up in her eyes, amidst her smile but she blinked them away. Deep down, she wished her mom was there too but it was all in the past now and she had a bright future ahead of her and intended to fully enjoy it without her past holding her back.“I’m glad too,” she breathed out in a barely audible voice but Liu headed in and he gently patted her back.

She recalled the words Jian spoke to her when she’d run away from Ryan after Selena showed up to destroy their wedding and she decided to give Liu a chance to explain himself. But by the time she called to set up a meeting with him in Jian’s home, her stepbrother informed her that their father was very sick and couldn’t leave his home in Beijing where he was receiving intense care from one of the renowned medical practitioners in the world. Amelia felt terrible that he was ill and they still hadn’t settled their differences. Thus, she’d insisted on seeing him, if he was up for it and she also wanted to finally introduce him to Dora.“I’m ready,” she breathed out, smiling weakly at Ryan. As if he could under

With Benjamin in prison and Ryan out of the family, there was no one to run the family’s business and no one was ready to take over because they weren’t ready to start another feud that may end terribly. Left with no option, a meeting was held and Ryan and Amelia were invited. The sole aim of the meeting was to plead with Ryan to return to the family and take up his old position as the heir and the CEO of DCL Inc.At first, Ryan had flat out refused their offer because his new business was flourishing well and he had no intentions of still working for his family or even being the sole heir of the Davidson’s empire but after many pleas from the family and Amelia, who thought he should give them a second chance to right their wrongs, he finally made a decision. He informed them that he’d take up the af

It was already evening by the time Benjamin returned to the hospital. He walked into the waiting room and was about to head to Lara’s room when the nurse at the counter called him.“Hello, Mr. Davidson,”Benjamin glanced at her, annoyance radiating off him but he managed to keep it hidden, schooling his features into a concerned expression.“Are you here to see Miss Zhang again?” the nurse inquired and he stepped towards her. “Sure,”“Oh well, she’s been moved. She’s no longer here,”Benjamin’s brows furrowed and he stared at her as though she’d just sprouted a second head. The nurse saw the confused expression etched on his face and went on to clarify her words to him.“After you left in the morning, her sister and brother came to move her away. I suggest you ask them about her new location,”Benjamin tensed, his jaw clenching hard. Amelia was singing cheerfully, swaying her hips and trying to dance to the song she was singing as she prepared breakfast. The rays of the bright morning sun streamed into the kitchen, lighting up the entire place, considering it was still early. She was preparing Dora’s breakfast. She’d woken up early to prepare her breakfast and lunch and to also prepare her for school. After Ryan had healed, they’d quickly moved out of his Manhattan penthouse and had moved over to Brooklyn, away from his family, to start up their lives and his new business. It’s been two months and things were going well for them. For now, she was just a stay-at-home mom, but she’d never been happier, with her fiance and their child. They were living a simple life, with no family members swamping them or even calling for unnecessary meetings. She’d also heard of Benjamin’s immediate take over of the Davidson’s empire on the news and she was glad that Ryan wasn’t concerned. His new business venture was going well,

Ryan was still shocked and trying to wrap his head around what the maid, Mia, had revealed to them. By the time they got home, Dora was already fast asleep. Amelia took her to bed while Ryan retired to their bedroom to prepare for bed, but all he did was stand beside the floor-to-ceiling window of his bedroom, overlooking the city below as he replayed Mia’s words over and over again in his head.He was so lost in his head that he didn’t hear Amelia walk into the room until she wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her body hat tightly to his back.“Don’t be too hard on yourself,” she whispered, trailing one of her hands to his chest and patting him lightly. “We’re not sure if it’s true. It might just be a misunderstanding,”Ryan let out a deep breath.“What if it's true?”Amelia was quiet, not knowing what to say.“We’re no longer safe in their midst,”“What do you want to do?” her hands fell off him and he turned around, staring intently at her.“I think we need to leave this
