“Welcome to the Xanders family Blakeley, hope you keep up.” He said and Blakeley gulped.
“So Blakeley.” Mrs. Xanders called and she turned to her.
“Yes ma’am?”
“Why my son? What is so special about him?” She asked and Blakeley glanced at Alex, he paid attention to his food and she thought about a quick response.
“Hmm, okay.” She muttered and cleared her throat.
“I know it seemed like we rushed into the marriage because it has only been six months but to me, I felt like I chose the right person to spend the rest of my life with. So far, I see him as someone who acts like he doesn't care but deep down he does, he is the type of person who can help someone in need no matter the situation.” She said and everyone paid attention to her, except Alex.
“So far, for the twenty-one years I have lived, except from growing up in a lovely home, he is the best thing that has happened to me.” She said and held Alex’s hand, he looked at her and she smiled at him.
“Awwwn, that’s so sweet.” Cassie, Alex’s sister said as she smiled.
“That is nice.” His mother said.
“She just described the opposite of Alex.” His elder brother mumbled but no one heard it.
The dinner went well and it was time for everyone to leave. Blakeley sat in the living room and watched as Alex had a conversation with his father and brother. His mother was speaking to his brother’s wife.
Cassie walked to her and sat next to her.
“Hey.” She called and Blakeley smiled in response.
“How do you like our family so far?” She asked and Blakeley shrugged.
“Fine, I guess.”
“Well, you… “ Cassie trailed off as Alex walked to them.
“Come on.” He ordered Blakeley and she stood up.
“You guys are leaving already?” Cassie asked and also stood up.
“Don't I have to say goodbye to your parents?” Blakeley asked.
“It's not necessary.” He replied and pulled her out of the house before she could say anything. They got into the car and she sighed in relief as the chauffeur drove out of the estate.
“Okay, that went well right?” She asked Alex and he nodded in response.
“Great. You’ve got a lovely family.” She complimented and he didn't give her a response, all he did was relax on the chair, close his eyes and breathe out.
“Was that your elder brother?”
“Yeah.” He replied.
“What's his name?” She questioned further.
“Dante.”
“Dante.” She mumbled.
“Was that his wife?” She asked and he looked at her.
“Quit with the questions. She is obviously his wife.”
“Oh, so what now? Your parents already met me, what is next?”
Alex sighed and rolled his eyes, her questions were starting to annoy him.
“We live and act as a couple. Isn't that what you are here for?”
“Yeah, of course.” She muttered and turned away from him.

THE NEXT DAY
MORNING
“Thank you, Logan.” Blakeley said as he poured her a glass of juice. She was having breakfast alone in the dining room. As she did, she couldn't get her mind off Dylan, she still felt hurt that he cheated on her with her best friend.
“Good morning sir.” She heard voices saying and she snapped out of her thoughts, she looked up to see Alex sitting opposite her.
He didn't spare her a look as a maid dished his meal. He was dressed in a shirt and pants.
“Good morning.” Blakeley greeted.
“Morning.” He replied and she continued with her meal. She picked on her food as her thoughts drifted to Dylan, her parents were really shocked and heartbroken when she told them she called off the wedding. She didn't tell them a reason, all she did was tell them she would be working in New York City.
She got distracted from her thoughts when she saw Alex leaving the dining room.
“Alex.” She called and he turned to her.
“Yeah?”
“Where are you going?”
“To work.”
“Oh, what am I supposed to do? I will be home all day and it gets boring.” She said and Alex glanced at Logan standing at a corner.
“Play with Logan.” He replied and walked out. Blakeley slowly turned to the old man and stared at him, he bowed at her and she sighed.
“Yeah, great.” She muttered sarcastically and turned to her meal.
*******
HOURS LATER
Blakeley went through the pictures of Alex’s family on the internet, she decided to see how famous and wealthy his parents were.
She found out Alex’s father was a very important man in New York and Alex and Dante had different achievements but it seemed like they were competing.
She saw different pictures of his parents with the president, she wondered how sweet her life would be if her marriage with Alex was real.
Her phone rang and she sighed seeing it was her mother’s call, she had been calling her all day but she had to follow Alex’s rules of talking to them once in a while. She ignored the call and continued her research.
The door to the living room opened and Alex walked in, she hurriedly switched to a different app and dropped her phone.
“Hey.” She called.
“Hey.” He replied and was about to walk away but Blakeley called his name and walked to him.
“What?”
“I can't stay home all day. It really gets boring.” She complained and Alex looked around, he waved his hand and dismissed the maids in the living room. They all bowed before walking away.
“Questions.” Alex said and she raised a brow.
“Yeah?”
“In Los Angeles, weren't you always staying at home all day? Did you have a job? Were you productive with your life?” He asked and she kept quiet. She wasn't expecting all that from him.
“No, but I... “
“Being married to me is a job and you are getting paid for it which means, sitting at home all day is part of it.” He said and she sighed.
“Okay.” She mumbled. Alex was about to walk away again but he stopped and turned to her.
“Did you watch the news today?” He asked and she shook her head.
“Well, there should be a recap. Turn on the television and put on channel 7, you might be interested in what you see. It is the most trending news in Los Angeles at the moment.” He said and she wondered what it was, she walked to the remote and picked it up, she turned on the television and switched it to channel 7.
And there it was, her best friend's wedding was on and the groom was her ex-fiance. Dylan.
Blakeley felt her heart shatter as she watched it, he broke up with her about a week ago and he is married to her best friend. She has been a fool all along.
“He picked Malia over you, I wouldn't blame him though.” Alex said and Blakeley blinked rapidly as tears welled up in her eyes.
She stared at the screen and watched as Malia smiled happily, she couldn't fight back her tears anymore, they streamed down her cheeks and she ran towards the stairs, she rushed up the stairs and ran into her room to cry her eyes out.******Blakeley heard a knock on her door and she slowly sat up, she picked up the tissue next to her and wiped her tears. “Who is it?” She asked.“It's Logan, ma’am.” She heard the old man respond and she sighed.“Come in.”The door opened and Logan walked in, he moved closer to her and bowed.“What is it?” Blakeley asked.“Would you like to have dinner in your… ““I am not hungry.” She cut him off.“But ma’am, you skipped lunch saying… ““I am not hungry, Logan. Shut the door on your way out.” She replied rudely and lay back on the bed, she pulled the sheets over her head and the old man sighed before walking out of her room. She felt bad for speaking to him that way but she really wasn't in a good mood. She was hurting because of what Alex said to he
Blakeley stared at the mirror as Piper styled her hair, turns out she doesn't do only makeovers. She did her nails and did a quick skincare routine for her face before doing a makeover. It's been two hours and it's dusk already, Blakeley still wondered what she was getting ready for that needed this much preparation. She was finally done with her hair and Blakeley admired her look in the mirror, she looked so beautiful. She almost didn't recognise herself. “You look beautiful ma’am.” Piper complimented and Blakeley smiled shyly.“Thank you.” She replied and kept staring at the mirror. She really did a good job, her swollen eyes due to too much crying weren't visible anymore. “Ma’am.” Piper called and Blakeley turned to her, her eyes widening as she stared at the dresses on the bed.“Please pick your choice.” She said and Blakeley slowly stood up, she moved closer to the bed and stared at the dresses in awe. They looked so beautiful and priceless. There were five dressed on the bed
“Tch.” Mrs. Xanders muttered as they stared at Blakeley lying peacefully on the bed.“She really passed out due to camera flashes. Isn't she used to it?” Mrs. Xanders asked Alex and he ignored her as he paid attention to Blakeley. After Blakeley passed out in the midst of the reporters, the guards carried her and passed through a different entrance and took her to a room. The venue of the party was a mansion, with a ballroom in it. The reporters got distracted by the arrival of another important guest, Alex’s family heard about Blakeley passing out and one of his guards led them to the room. She has been unconscious for about thirty minutes. Mr. Xanders got a doctor among the guests and he confirmed she was okay and she would wake up anytime soon. The Xanders were all present in the room waiting for her to wake up and they were all getting impatient.“Do we really have to wait here?” Dante’s wife asked and they glanced at her.“I mean the party is going on and we are missing a lot o
Throughout the drive home, Blakeley kept mute. She kept glancing at Alex and his hand, the bleeding was starting to get worse but he ignored it. She couldn't imagine the pain he would be going through in his hands and feet, she tried talking to him but he snapped at her, she couldn't blame him though. She has been such a terrible person to him tonight.Guilt was eating her up and she felt so uncomfortable. He paid attention to his phone and answered lots of calls. They finally got home and he walked out of the car without taking a look at her, she slowly walked out and sighed. She got into the house and Logan welcomed her, she smiled slightly at him and headed to her room. She got there and took off her dress, she cleaned the makeover but still left her hair styled. She changed into a comfortable dress and she sighed as she sat on her bed. She kept thinking about Alex and it made her restless. She walked out of her room and headed down the stairs, she got to the living room and me
Blakeley finally picked the outfit she felt comfortable with after going through her closet for minutes. She wore a pair of jeans, and a crop top and matched it with a jacket and black sneakers. She doubted if it was okay but after so much thought, she decided to go with it. She packed her hair into a bun, picked up her phone then walked out of her room. She got down the stairs and met Alex in the living room, she was glad he was still around, she thought he left immediately. “Alex.” She called and rushed to him. He was dressed for work but he was going through a file.He gave her a questioning look.“I am meeting your mother so you should know what she likes. Is this outfit okay?” She asked, looking worried and Alex trailed his eyes on her outfit. “It's fine.” He replied and she smiled.“For real?” She giggled and Alex ignored her childish act. Logan walked to them and bowed.“Good morning ma’am. You haven't had breakfast yet.”“Oh, I am not hungry.” She replied and Logan glance
‘She knows?’ Blakeley thought. Cassie walked back into the living room and saw Blakeley looking lost.“Blakeley,” Cassie called and Blakeley smiled at her.“Yes?”“Are you guys ready?” She asked and Blakeley nodded in response, they all stood up and walked out of the house. Cassie noticed the tension between Emily and Blakeley and she wondered what was going on.“Where should we show her first?” Cassie asked Emily.“The mall. How about that? I bet you will be impressed by the things at the mall.” Emily told Blakeley and she rolled her eyes. She muttered a curse word and Cassie sighed as they entered the car.Throughout the drive, Blakeley didn't say a word, all she did was look out the window and think of how Emily found out and the consequences. “We are here.” Cassie said as they arrived in front of the mall. They all got down and walked into the mall. The employees around recognised them immediately and led them to a private section for shopping in the mall. They got there and Blak
“What?” Blakeley asked. “Sign here, and here.” Alex said and handed her a pen then pointed at the spots she would sign. Blakeley was too stunned to speak or do anything, all she did was stare at Alex. She felt her heart race in excitement and joy and also fear. Tears clouded her eyes and burst into tears. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” Alex scoffed. Blakeley turned away from Alex and tried to control her tears. “It needs your signature, not your tears.” Alex said and she sniffed, she wiped her tears and turned to him, she took the pen and as she signed the spots her signatures were needed, tears welled up in her eyes again. She signed them and handed them back to Alex, the tear rolled down her cheeks and she sniffed. “Thank you, thank you so much.” She cried and he rolled his eyes. “That isn't necessary, I am only keeping to my terms of the agreement.” Alex replied and brought out a phone. “Here, stop crying. Call your mother through this phone, place the phone on speaker and
Blakeley stared at the meals on the table with a broken heart, she knew making him a meal wasn't a huge way of appreciating what he did but she wanted to try. “But they aren't so bad.” She muttered as tears welled up in the corner of her eyes, she slowly picked out of the fries on a plate and ate it. She sniffed as the tears rolled down, she felt embarrassed and heartbroken. With a heavy heart, Blakeley managed to eat a little and walk out of the dining room, she already stopped crying but still felt sad. She decided to ignore what Alex said to her. She wouldn't let him ruin her day, so far, it has been the best day of her life. She walked up the stairs and headed to her room to have a good night's rest. The day was over already.*******THE NEXT DAYMORNING Blakeley woke up happily in the morning with the motive of having a great day and not letting anything or anyone ruin her mood. She got ready for the day and made her way down the stairs, she got to the living room and paused w
