Chapter 1

In the dimly lit meeting room, three brothers, Ethan, Lucas, and Julian, waited with bated breath for their rival, Victor Blackwood, the leader of the infamous Blackwood mafia family. Ethan's patience was wearing thin, his anger simmering just below the surface.

"He should have been here by now," Ethan growled, his voice low and menacing. "What does that bastard think of himself? Will we wait for him all day?"

Lucas placed a calming hand on Ethan's shoulder. "Calm down, brother. Victor knows the importance of this meeting."

Julian nodded in agreement. "He wouldn't dare miss it."

Just then, the door swung open and Victor Blackwood strode in, his eyes locked on Ethan with a hint of amusement. The air was electric with tension as the two enemies faced off.

Ethan's jaw clenched, his teeth gritted in frustration. "You're late, Blackwood."

Victor smirked, taking his seat. "I can do what I want, Ethan. You know that."

The mediator, Mr. Jenkins, cleared his throat, his voice stern. "Gentlemen, let's maintain the peace. We're here to discuss the agreement between the Smith and Blackwood families."

As the meeting began, Ethan's anger boiled over. "I refuse to agree to this. I won't let the Smith family become part of the Blackwood empire."

Lucas's eyes blazed with fury, his gaze fixed on Victor. "No Smith will ever bow to a Blackwood."

The room was heavy with tension, the animosity between the two families palpable. Victor's smile never wavered, his eyes glinting with triumph.

Mr. Jenkins continued, his voice steady and calm, a stark contrast to the tension in the room. "As you all know, the Smith and Blackwood families have been sworn enemies for years, their feud spanning generations. Blood has been shed, lives lost, and fortunes ruined. But we must remember that we're all part of the same world, bound together by our shared history and interests. The late Mr. Smith and Mr. Blackwood, in their wisdom, created this agreement to ensure peace and prosperity for both families. They knew that their hatred and rivalry would only lead to destruction, and so they sought to find common ground."

He paused, surveying the room with a stern gaze. "This agreement has held for years, despite the tensions between you. But now, with the changing times and the rise of new powers, it's more important than ever that we uphold this pact.

Mr. Jenkins leaned forward, his eyes locked on the two men. "I urge you both to remember the spirit of this agreement. It's not about gaining power or control, but about finding a way to coexist peacefully. Let us work together to find a solution that benefits both families and ensures lasting peace."

Victor Blackwood's laughter echoed through the room, catching everyone off guard. His eyes sparkled with amusement as he gazed at the Smith brothers.

"Should I consider this the beginning of a war?" Victor asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Ethan Smith's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in frustration. "What are you talking about, Blackwood?"

Julian Smith stepped forward, his voice calm and measured. "Wait, our fathers had decided that to maintain peace between our families, our only sister, Ivy, should be married to Victor. We must think about our business and reputation, so this agreement will continue."

Lucas Smith's face twisted in disgust. "Brother, you can't be serious. You want Ivy to marry this...this..."

Victor's smile grew wider. "Watch your mouth, Smith. I'm not exactly thrilled about marrying your precious Ivy Elizabeth either. It was my father's decision, not mine."

Lucas sneered. "Since when do you follow your father's decisions, Blackwood?"

Victor's expression turned cold. "I don't want to shed any more blood. That's why I'm in favor of this agreement. Otherwise, all three of you would be dead by now."

Ethan's eyes flashed with anger as he pointed his gun at Victor. The room erupted into chaos as Victor's men drew their weapons, aiming at the Smith brothers and their men.

Julian shouted, "STOP THIS NONSENSE! PUT THE GUNS DOWN! It was our father's decision, and we must respect it, Ethan!"

The room fell silent, with all eyes on Ethan. Slowly, he lowered his gun, his face a mask of tension.

"As a leader, it's my duty to respect my father's decision. We agree to the marriage," Ethan said finally.

Lucas stormed out of the meeting room, his anger palpable.

Victor's smirk returned, his eyes glinting with triumph. "I look forward to our union, Ivy Elizabeth."

Victor Blackwood's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he turned to Ethan Smith. "Now that we've settled the agreement, let's finalize the engagement date. Time is of the essence, and I have little patience for prolonged celebrations. Next week would be ideal. My bride, Ivy Elizabeth, will be arriving shortly. See that she's prepared, Ethan."

With that, Victor strode away, leaving Ethan seething with resentment. Ethan's fists clenched, his anger simmering just below the surface. "That scoundrel has been watching Ivy for years, and we were oblivious to it."

Victor's voice drifted back, his tone dripping with possessiveness. "I have every right to keep an eye on what's mine."

Ethan's anger boiled over, and he took a step forward, but Julian's restraining hand on his arm stopped him. "Not now, Ethan. Let it go."

Victor disappeared from view, leaving the Smith brothers to seethe in frustration. Ethan's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with thoughts of Ivy, now mere days away from being bound to the cunning Victor Blackwood.

"Call her," Ethan growled, his voice low and urgent. "Find out where she is and bring her here."

Julian nodded, his expression grim, and pulled out his phone to make the call.

In the dimly lit car, Julian's voice trembled with rage. "How can you two agree to this? Sending Ivy to the Blackwood family? They're notorious for their ruthlessness!"

Lucas's expression remained stoic, his voice measured. "We have no other choice, Julian. Our family's survival depends on this alliance."

Julian's eyes flashed with defiance. "I refuse to let my sister be a pawn in your game. Victor Blackwood is a monster, and I won't let him near Ivy."

Ethan's voice was calm, but laced with a hint of warning. "Julian, Victor may not be stupid enough to harm Ivy, not when he knows the consequences. Our concern is how to break the news to her."

Julian's jaw clenched, his face set in a determined expression. "I won't be the one to tell her. She'll never forgive me."

Ethan nodded, his eyes locked on the road ahead. "I'll speak with her. As her brother, it's my duty to explain our family's obligations."

Lucas intervened, his voice softening. "I'll talk to her, Ethan. You've always been strict with Ivy; she might see this as another one of your dictates. I'll make her understand our position."

Julian's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on Lucas. "You think you can make her see reason? She's not a child, Lucas. She deserves the truth."

Lucas's expression remained calm, his voice unwavering. "I'll tell her everything, Julian. But she needs to understand her role as a member of this family. Our legacy, our power – it's all at stake."
