Matthew was shocked. He had never imagined that the four-eyed girl who silently agreed to everything would dare to slap him.

“You dare hit me?”

“I’m hitting you now!” Christina stared at him with her eyes wide open. She was frustrated and utterly different from her usual meekness, nothing like before. “You think that you can bully me just because you’re rich? I’ve had enough of you!”

Michael started to get angry after he was slapped and scolded by her. “Christina, are you tired of your job? Do you want me to fire you or something?”

“I don’t need your dismissal. I’m resigning now. I’m not serving you anymore!”

She threw all her work-related things at his face, cleared her hands, and walked out the medical ward with her chin high up.

She turned out to be the ugly duckling, and her strong personality frightened Matthew. After Christina disappeared, he reacted and touched his face. “Interesting. I like it!”

As dusk arrived, in the old town, there was a luxurious black car that stopped in an alley devoid of street lamps

This kind of luxurious black car popping up here would definitely attract an audience. However, for the past three years, this car had frequently appeared here. The people nearby were used to the car stopping here for a whole night.

The people nearby knew that the driver was a young man. He was tall, handsome, and phlegmatic. It was obvious that he was a distinguished man.

The last bus stopped at the bus stop, and when the door opened, Christina took her handbag and got off the bus. She walked through the pitch-black alley and went straight to her apartment complex.

It was dark in there but her pace was quick, deftly avoiding the pothole she knew would make her trip.

Christina had stayed here for so many years that she could have reached home with her eyes closed.

Michael was in a black suit standing under the tree in the alley. His black suit had merged with the dark surroundings as he stood there silently, staring at one of the apartments in the apartment complex.

The paint of the apartment had peeled off and there were patches of rust on the door. The people around this complex had moved out one by one, and there were only a few families left there.

The sound of the high heeled shoes that came from the alley was sharp in the silence. Michael turned, and with the help of some dimmed lights from the entrance of the alley, he saw a slim figure appear in his sight.

His eyes were tender, and he did not make a sound as he set his sights on a blurry figure.

Christina was unaware of her surroundings and did not realize a man was standing there. In the dark, she quickly walked through the alley and went into her apartment.

Her high heeled shoes creaked along as she stepped on the old wooden floor. Michael heard it, and it was better than any music that he had ever listened to.

After Christina went up the stairs, she took out her room keys and entered the room, and then she switched on the lights in the living room.

Francis was not back yet, so she shut the door and walked to the window to close the curtain. Later, she went to the kitchen to prepare some food for Francis.

Michael stood outside as he glanced at the shadow that occasionally appeared on the curtain. He did not blink, his eyes filled with warmth and hope.

After three years, he had finally met her.

However, Michael’s joy and excitement in his heart did not last for a second when he remembered Christina feeding another man.

His heart ached like a needle was poking it. Michael thought he had seen it wrongly, but the fact was, everything was real.

Michael did not know that he should be happy or sad, as his heart was filled with countless emotions, and his chest felt heavy.

It was late at night, and the lights were off, but Michael was standing there until he left at midnight.

‘Christina, I’ve finally found you!’

She fell asleep rather quickly, but she did not sleep well.

“You b*tch, if you can’t bear a child, why did you murder my grandson?”

Christina felt a burning pain when she was slapped in the face, which was followed by a high-pitched voice of a woman’s cursing.

Then, there was blood on the floor, and it shocked her nerves so badly.

Christina did not push Serena. It was Serena who fell by herself. There was a pool of blood on the floor, but she did not know what happened!

The back of Christina’s waist hit the corner of the table, and she felt excruciating pain.

Michael came in from the door. Christina thought he would comfort her, but he did not even look at her once. Such cold and despair had frozen her heart wholly.

Christina wanted to say that she did not push her, but when she saw Michael carry Serena, all the words were stuck in her throat and she could not say a thing.

Her deepest despair was that she handed her whole life to him, but he turned and left in a hurry.

This was the man she was dying to marry! This was the man that she swore she would never leave, and she would be by his side for eternity.

Christina’s heart was torn into pieces, and it was too painful for her to breathe.

In the room, her little face was twisted as she was tossing and turning. Finally, she woke up and sat on her bed.

She was breathing heavily, and her body was covered with sweat, even the bed sheet was soaked.

For three years, the nightmare had haunted her like a curse from the very beginning, and she could not forget about it.

Christina did not know when she could forget all of it and get out of this nightmare.

She was not sleepy after that, so she switched on the lights and wore her slippers. She went to the water dispenser to have a drink.

The phone on her bedside suddenly rang. She picked up the phone and heard a cute voice coming from the other side of the phone. “Mommy, why didn’t you come and find me?”

Her tone softened, “Honey, I’ll find you at once after I settle my work.”

“Then when are you gonna finish your work?”`

“…” When Christina was about to say something, she suddenly remembered she had resigned, and currently, she was jobless.

“Mommy, did you find daddy?”

She sighed. “… I haven’t.” Last time, before she left, Travis was holding onto her leg and did not want to let go because he wanted to be with his mother.

Christina had no choice but to tell him that she was going to find his father. It was only then that Travis finally let go of her.

There was a black Cayenne that was parked in the empty space opposite the alley. The driver withdrew his gaze and looked at Michael through the rear-view mirror. “President Larson, that person just now… I think she looked like Mrs. Larson?”Michael’s face turned green and he snorted. “She’s not the Larson family’s Missus anymore!”The driver did not dare to speak anymore after Michael’s expression turned sour. He walked down from the car and opened the door for Michael, then opened up the map in front of him. “President Larson, the demolition procedures are being processed. It can be completed in a week’s time at the earliest.”“A week?” Michael talked to himself, “How can it be so quick?”The driver was surprised. The procedures being processed quickly so that the project could start as soon as possible was good news. Serena’s voice was gentle but sounded urgent. Michael’s face darkened. “I’ll be there soon.”Michael walked into the coffee shop and Serena had already been waiting there for a long time. Her hair was in a high ponytail and she was wearing a simple and elegant long dress. Regardless of how she dressed up and the aura she released, Serena was like a beauty from a noble family. Michael stared at her ponytail, and his heart suddenly fluttered. He walked to the chair opposite her and sat down. “Did you wait for a long time?”“I just arrived as well.” Serena laughed and asked him considerately, “Michael, do you still drink black coffee?”Michael nodded. “Why did you need me so urgently?”Serena bit her lip and her face was a little worried. “I… Saw Christina. She’s not doing well now.”Michael did not give any further reaction and only responded with, “Mm.”Serena knew immediately that he already knew about this. Maybe he had already met up with Christina. Once Christina returned home, she looked at the material Ariel gave her from beginning till the end and analyzed them thoroughly. As compared to the other popular Blind Date Reality Shows on TV, there were a few things that were different. The female guests would appear on the stage holding a mask and introduce their hobbies, interests, values, and their thoughts about love and family. The male guests off the stage would freely choose the female guests that they liked and ask them questions. If the female guest had a good impression of the male guest, she could ask him questions in return. If both of them liked each other, the female guest would then take off her mask. In other words, as long as the female guest did not make a choice, she could be wearing the mask forever and earn some money quietly.Christina finally understood what Ariel was saying. This was surely a chance to get easy money. No wonder Ariel wanted her to go so badly and even said this was a good thing for her

Matthew randomly said the last sentence. When those words traveled into Michael’s ears, they sounded very harsh. Matthew was well-known for being a womanizer. Michael was surprised that Christina would be in contact with such a Casanova, she really did not value herself. Also, Matthew was recently attracted to a model and they were in the passionate stage. He was obviously cheating on both of them. After he thought about it, Michael curved the corner of his lips and subtly insulted him by saying, “You’re a man of many tastes, Mr. Henderson!” Matthew actually thought Michael was referring to the incident where Christina bit his hand, so he randomly replied, “I’ve no choice. I like playing with excitement. Plus, the more interesting, the better!”Michael’s expression turned completely gloomy. Matthew’s words had changed the meaning and made him extremely angry as though there were grey clouds above him. “I initially thought that Mr. Henderson was here for work. I never thought

On the way back to the Larson family’s house, Michael sat in the back seat with his eyes closed. The driver thought he fell asleep and reduced the speed of the car. Only Michael knew that he could not actually fall asleep. All he had in mind was the image of Christina and Matthew being together. Michael finally met the person he was searching for the past three years, but there was not even a hint of happiness seen on his face. At most, there was only anger and hurt. Where had she been for the past three years? How did she end up with a person like Matthew Henderson?Michael was very confused. His thoughts were very fuzzy as he returned to that morning three years ago. That morning, when he returned to the villa, Michael noticed that it was unusually quiet and not a single sound was heard. He went downstairs to look for any activity. Finding nothing, Michael dragged his heavy feet back upstairs and opened the bedroom door, but Christina was nowhere to be found. Michael had

“Just a little while ago.” Sean came closer. “Christina, we need to talk.”She nodded and followed him to the garden. He helped her to get comfortable on the bench. “Do you believe in fate?”She shook her head, unsure where this was leading. “I didn’t either as I’m a firm believer that hard work always pays off. But now I do.”He looked her in the eye. “I’ve been lost and struggled a lot since that incident, unsure how to face you. After considering this seriously for the past few days, I’ve finally mustered enough courage to meet you again.”A sigh escaped her lips. “Sorry, Sean. It’s all my fault.”“No! It has nothing to do with you, Christina. It’s my fault that my love is not strong enough. I discovered that Suzy is really great after spending the past few months with her. She’s just like you. She’s gentle, kind, pure, and adorable. I realized I’ve fallen in love with her.”This was not what he really thought. He loved Christina since the beginning of time and believed he

Matthew, of course!” Ariel glared at Christina.“I say whatever’s on my mind, unlike you, who always keep everything to yourself and get stuck in dilemmas. Every good opportunity slips past you because of your indecisiveness!” “How can I not be? I promised to marry him but I’m now trying to convince him to marry someone else. Is this really the best thing for him? Will he be happy?”Ariel questioned after a brief silence, “Christina, let me ask you this. Who do you care for more? The following morning, Serena hurried to the police station to file a report. The police treated this with high importance and warned her to be careful of Darren Cain as he was a vicious gang member who had served over a decade in prison. She became more frightened after hearing that. Immediately, she moved out of that house and rented a place somewhere quiet. As she was terrified, she stayed indoors for the next few days.Much of Christina’s stress was relieved without having to deal with Serena’s pestering.“Christina, John was at the last stage of cancer. It was lucky enough that he lasted until he did. This is his fate, so try not to get too upset.” Francis comforted the dispirited woman. It did not make any difference even though he was not the real Francis. He had long adapted to the identity after assuming it for so many years. Most importantly, Christina was still willing to treat him like a real uncle even after finding out the truth.“Don’t worry, Uncle, I’m fine.”

Serena must’ve come prepared if she dares to stir up trouble. This is a lawful society. We can’t do as we wish.”“Are we actually going to pay her off then?” Ariel asked, “I think giving her money isn’t going to put an end to this.
