Blair's POV
I lazily opened the door and Clover jumped off the couch, “You weren't answering your phone, where were you?” Clover showed me her phone and I saw hundreds of missed calls. “I accidentally dropped my phone,” I closed the door behind me and entered the house. “Thank goodness, I thought you had done the unthinkable,” Clover placed her hand on her chest and let out a deep breath, “What are all these?” She took the bag from my hand to check the content, “You didn't take your card.” “Someone got it for me,” I sat on the couch, brought out alcohol from the bag, and drank it, “That was refreshing.” “Who?” A curious Clover sat next to me. “Some strange man, the man was fine and tall as fuck,” I explained everything to her. “So we will have to wait for an answer,” Clover said and I nodded my head, “Do you believe in fate?” What kind of question was Clover asking? “No, I don't believe in such things.” “The man we were supposed to meet for you couldn't come because his cat got into an accident, so tomorrow we will know if you meeting Mr stranger was fate or,” Clover took one bottle of alcohol from the bag, “Thanks, Goodnight,” she said and walked away to her room. I didn't know what tomorrow held, Zade and everyone we grew up with were going to be around for Christmas. How do I face the fact that Zade and I broke up? Will Christmas still be the same with everyone? I finished my alcohol and went to bed. I woke up to the sound of Clover blasting Christmas music in the house, I walked to her with my eyes half opened, “Can't we have peace? I'm trying to sleep.” “Shouldn't you be ready?” Clover raised her eyebrows. I opened my eyes fully to see she was already dressed, I looked around and saw her luggage was already in the living room. “Isn't it too early?” I looked at the clock and saw we were in fact late. I hurriedly ran to the bathroom before Clover could say anything. In less than ten minutes, I had my bath and dragged my things outside the house. The driver had already arrived, and he helped us put the bag in the van. Anytime we were running home, Clover and I always hired a van because we didn't want to drive and we didn't want to use flight. We wanted to have fun during the drive. “Let's go,” Clover said the moment the man shut the van and I didn't move, “What's wrong?” “That stranger of yesterday, I want to wait a bit for him,” I said sheepishly. “You think he will come?” Clover gave me a full blank stare and I lowered my gaze, “Driver please give us thirty minutes!!” Clover shouted, then turned to me, “Thirty minutes and that's it.” Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into an hour, I had bit my finger counting numbers, I lost track and started again. I hope he will show up. “Blair!!” Clover yelled my name from the van and I turned to look at her, “We have to leave!! I don't think Mr stranger is coming.” I nodded my head feeling disheartened, I looked back one more time just in case, when I didn't see any site of that familiar stranger, I walked from the back of the car to enter the car. I was about to lock the door, “Miss!” I paused when I heard someone yelling from afar. I rushed out of the car to see a tall man wearing royal blue pants, a black coat, and a scarf wrapped around his neck, and dragging luggage, “Who is that fine man?” Clover asked from my side. I squinted my eyes to see who was, a smile embraced my face as I said, “He is the stranger.” “Good morning,” the stranger greeted both me and Clover with a smile on his face. Clover smiled at him and asked the driver to put his bags in the car. “Thank goodness you came, I thought you wouldn't come,” I smiled, I had never been this happy to see a stranger before. “I'm sorry I came late, I stopped by a gadget store,” he opened his bag and brought out a brand new phone, “I felt it was my fault so I had to get you a new one.” I was speechless, didn't he need the money? Then why was he spending money on things that didn't concern him, “I'm sorry I can't accept this,” I declined politely. “No, there is really no problem,” he insisted and I refused to take it. “Thank you,” Clover took the phone from his hand and gave it to me, “Now let's get going.” I and Clover entered the last seat while he entered the seat directly at our front. We had a few hours so I needed to finalize the contract before we arrived. “So, since we are going to be staying together, how about we make some rules and finalize the contract?” He nodded his head, “I will be paying 100$ every day for this.” “You don't need to pay me,” he said and I looked at him with confusion. What was this? Was he trying to be manly with me? “Didn't you take this job because you needed money?” I raised my eyebrow. He stared at me for a few seconds before saying, “Yes, I took the job because I needed the money by february.” “Okay,” I nodded my head, “Tell me about yourself, you don't need to tell me a lot of personal things because we will be parting ways on the sixteenth of January.” “My name is Ace, I'm a student, and I'm on my third degree right now, if there is any specific thing you want to know?” A student!!! Does he have that much money for a third degree? It must be student loan, poor thing. “How old are you?” I just asked, in case anyone at home asked so I would be able to answer them. “I'm twenty-four,” My head did a full spin and my face gave a full blank stare. “Twenty-four!!!” Clover shouted and he nodded her head, “Yahh,” Clover touched me and I turned to look at her, “A guy younger than you?” “Is there a problem?” Ace asked innocently. This is where I introduce myself, I hope he won't run away, “My name is Blair, I'm a journalist, and I'm thirty-one years old.” “Thirty-one?” Ace's reaction was too calm for me, “That makes it seven years.” Did he just calculate the age difference in his head, “I will send my account number and any other thing you need to know about me.” I nodded my head though he didn't see me, he brought out his phone and began doing his own stuff. “He is twenty-four,” Clover whispered and I nodded my head, “What are you going to do about the age difference?” “It doesn't matter, it's just work between us,” I lazily said. I brought out my eye mask and placed it on my eyes. “What if it turns into something more? A handsome man and a woman in the same, don't you think something would happen?” Clover whispered and I removed the mask from my eyes. “Stop thinking too much, nothing will happen,” I rolled my eyes at her. “I think something will happen, let's set a bet?” Clover said with so much excitement. I just can't with his girl. “50k$” Clover said and I smirked. “Let's double it,” I said with Amusement on my face. At least, I know by the end of the holiday, I will be a 100k$ richer that I didn't work for. “Deal, this is going to be so much fun,” Clover squeaked.Blair's POV“Maam, we have arrived,” I opened my eyes to the sound of Clover and the driver's voice.I didn't sleep through the whole journey, I watched movies, I watched Tiktok and I looked at the houses as we drove by.I removed my eye mask to see we had arrived at Clover's house, “Don't carry my things with yours,” my sleepy ass said.“I should so you will come to my house sooner,” Clover said playfully as she brought her things down the van.“Whatever,” I rolled my eyes playfully, “I will come to see you once I'm settled in,” I screamed and waved at her as the driver began driving. The town really had the smell of Christmas, each house was well decorated with their families around and the smell of baking filled everything. We arrived at my house in less than ten minutes, me and Ace got out of the car and brought our things along. “Let me do all the talking,” I said to Ace before I knocked on the door. “Aunty Blair!” My little niece opened the door and ran to hug me.“How is my l
Blair's POV “You keep slacking behind!” My boss raised his voice at me as he used the document in his hand to hit my head continuously. “I'm sorry sir,” I apologize with my gaze lowered, not daring to meet him. I wish my eyes could kill, so my eyes would kill him now. “Sorry, sorry?” He laughed and threw the documents on the floor, “Are you doing this because your grandfather is the minister of aviation? Or your Grandma is a CEO? Or your rich family?” I ignored his questions and bent down to pick up the file. My boss was annoying as fuck, I don't know what his deal was, it felt like he bullied me for fun. “Sir, I'm returning home for Christmas, the minister of aviation wants me home, so I will be reporting from there,” I said in a low tone, hoping he got the message. My boss glared at me, “Get out, I don't care what you do.” I dropped the documents on the table and left his office. He hated me because I got this job through connection and I was able to keep it. “Are
Blair's POV “Blair, are you okay?” Clover hurriedly hugged me and I shook my head at her, “What happened?” she looked at me then looked at the door, “Where is Zade?” “Clover, I'm not okay Za…De.. ended every…thing…he…. didn't…give ... .me…any…ring…he.. broke…up…with…me,” I cried in Clover’s arms. Clover rubbed my hair gently and whispered comforting words into my ears, I couldn't understand where I had gone wrong, I had done everything right since I became an adult, so why did he end it? “I ..didn't …. do …anything …wrong, I…don't ....know ...why….he…ended…it..,” I sobbed louder as my heart began to feel numb. Clover excused herself from the living room and came back with a glass of water. I drank it and soon began to feel dizzy. Before I could ask about what was in the water, my eyelids began to feel heavy and I found myself falling into sleep mode. I opened my eyes to a pounding headache, when I remembered what happened yesterday, I jumped down from my bed and bolted to
Blair's POV I kept reminding myself I was doing it to get back at Zade for cheating and so my family wouldn't use the holiday to feel sorry for me and lastly for the plot. For the past few hours, I have been declining profiles and emails. I didn't like any of them and some looked weird, like they would rob or kill me. I needed someone to fit the perfect boyfriend. “I think you should go check this one out,” Clover said and I stared at his picture on the screen. He didn't look bad, he was handsome but I was older than him. We had been at it for six hours and finally found someone that was okay. “He looks good, he fits but what if he is a weirdo?” I voiced my concern to Clover. “Get ready, let's go together and figure it out,” Clover said and shut her laptop. We didn't have time, we had decided if we saw someone, we would set up a physical meeting immediately. I went to my room, freshened up, put on something comfy, and went back to the living room. We picked a cafe, convenient
Ace's POV “How long do you plan on staying here and living this lie?” My best friend and support system, Zion asked. “Zion not now, I'm very tired and would like to rest,” I brushed him off. “You need to make up your mind before January and return home, your family is worried,” Zion sat on the couch inside my room. “Are they really worried or do you just need space from me?” I raised my eyebrows playfully. “Ace, you know it isn't…” “Sir, Sir,” The cleaning lady entered my room without knocking, “You should come see this.” Without thinking twice, Zion and I ran downstairs to see my girlfriend Ziora coming out of my car drunk and the condition of my car was in a terrible state. I balled my hand into a tight fist, I just couldn't stand it anymore, “What happened?” I gritted and glared at her. I just got the car two days ago after she destroyed the former one with a fire extinguisher on purpose. Ziora walked zigzag till she fell on me, “My prince,” she giggled and she
