Life back at work

Anna’s POV

The vacation was therapeutic for me. I was back to my normal life and I have left the gun fight incident behind me. Obviously, it would be awkward facing Charlotte now that she knew the truth behind the relationship between Smith and I. Even though Smith had told me not to be afraid because Charlotte would tell no one about it, I was still nervous. I didn’t know what I had to do but to keep calm in this scenario.

I arrived at the office before Smith but Charlotte was nowhere to be found. She came right after me and when our eyes met, my heart pounded. I was nervous but she seemed relaxed.

“Nice to meet you, Anna!” she told me with an excited smile on her face. “How was the holiday? I can presume you had so much fun!”
