I was halfway through the door when his next words made me freeze on my feet. I abruptly turned towards him,thinking I was hearing things. “W-what did you say?”

For the first time in five years, I caught a glimpse of the old Azriel. He let his vulnerability appear in his expression, catching me off guard. “I said I never stopped loving you, Delilah.”

My heart raced as his words hung in the air, the room suddenly feeling smaller. I didn't know how to respond, so many emotions swirling within me. I took a step back, shaking my head in disbelief. I must be dreaming. “I- I don't believe you.”
