CHAPTER 17

Trudeau’s POV

Rodney stared at me for some seconds then clicked his tongue. “Tch. Sure, let’s talk about something less important.”

I was no fool. I heard the change of tone and it managed to reflect in the air with how he continued to play his video games. It was impossible to pretend I didn’t feel it because it was just two of us in the room. Everything else depended on how we both saw the world and wanted to live in it.

“Rodney…I—”

“Hey, it’s cool. You do your thing, I don’t care. I just don’t want to be that guy that pats you on the back for doing horrible things.” He turned briefly to me and I nodded in acceptance.

“It’s cool,” I muttered.

Could I say this was the reason I came here in the first place?
