Karen's Pov.

Saturdays were my worst, not because I got to stay at home with the kids or anything like that but because I felt like it was an excuse for everyone to be lazy. The house always seemed to spiral into chaos—crumbs on the couch, toys scattered everywhere, and Paris and Aiden running around like they had endless energy reserves.

This Saturday was no different.

I stood in the middle of the living room, hands on my hips, surveying the disaster zone. Paris was sitting cross-legged on the rug, her little hands covered in glitter as she worked on an “art project,” while Aiden was sprawled out on the couch, half-watching cartoons and half-building a tower out of LEGO bricks.

“Guys, this place looks like a hurricane came through,” I said, exasperation creeping into my tone.

“We’re busy, Mummy,” Aiden replied without looking up.

“Busy making a mess,” I muttered under my breath.

From the kitchen, I could hear Troy humming as he prepared breakfast. Since Jordie had left fo

Chapter 81Karen’s POVWhen I walked into the living room, the first thing I noticed was Troy sitting on the couch, his duffel bag at his feet. He looked up as I entered, offering a small, apologetic smile. “You’re leaving?” I asked, glancing at the packed bag, my heart suddenly feeling heavier than I expected. He nodded, his fingers tracing the strap of the duffel bag absentmindedly. “Yeah. Something important came up that I need to take care of. I wish I could stay longer, though.” His voice softened as he added, “Especially with the twins.” I felt an unexpected sting in my chest, a pang of disappointment I hadn’t anticipated. It had only been four days since Troy had come into our lives, but in that short time, I’d grown accustomed to his presence. His easy going nature, the way he interacted with the kids, and how his mere presence seemed to bring a sense of calm into the house—it was all so comforting. And now, to see him leave so soon, it felt like something was being pulled a

Karen’s POVThe office was quieter than usual as I sat at my desk, sorting through emails and making a mental note of the tasks that needed to be prioritized. It was one of those mornings when the world outside seemed to move at a faster pace than I was ready for. I was deep in thought when I heard a light knock on the door."Come in," I called, not bothering to look up, assuming it was one of the team members needing something from me.The door creaked open, and I glanced up to see Devon standing in the doorway, holding a folder in his hands. He looked as serious as ever, his expression a mixture of determination and slight anxiety."Good morning," he said, stepping into the room and approaching my desk. “I, uh, finished the task you gave me yesterday.”I raised an eyebrow, glancing at the folder. “Already?”He nodded. “Yeah, I’ve got everything outlined. Karen’s POVWhen I stepped through the door that evening, the familiar sound of Jordie’s voice greeted me. She was in the kitchen, talking animatedly to the twins, her laughter filling the space in a way that made the house feel more alive. I hadn’t realized just how much I’d missed her presence until now. “Karen!” Jordie’s voice rose with excitement as she caught sight of me entering the room. She quickly made her way over and pulled me into a warm hug. “I missed you!” she said, stepping back to give me a once-over. “How’s everything at the office?” “Hectic, as usual,” I replied with a tired smile. “But I survived.” The twins ran over, each grabbing one of my hands and pulling me toward the living room. “Grandma, you’re back!” Paris exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. Austin chimed in, “We were telling Grandma Jordie about Uncle Troy! He was so fun!” Jordie raised an eyebrow at me as she settled onto the couch. “Speaking of Troy… how’d my nephew do while I was gone?” I cou

Karen’s POV "Troy?" The word escaped my lips before I could stop it. He looked just as startled as I felt, his brown eyes locking with mine for a brief moment before he quickly masked his surprise with a professional expression. The transformation was seamless, but I knew that it looked good enough to catch the flicker of unease beneath it. “Ms. Andrea,” he said, tilting his head slightly. His tone was smooth and professional, as if this was just another business meeting and not an encounter that felt like the universe itself had conspired to catch me off guard. I forced myself to recover, adopting my own mask of calm. “Mr….?”It dawned on me, I didn't even know his last name.“Wave.” He corrected.”Mr. Wave” I replied evenly, acknowledging him with a nod. KAREN'S POV “Hello little betrayer, are you sure you still want to get on with this marriage, cause trust me, you’d regret it.” I still heard the words of the man I was supposed to call husband very soon ringing in my ears. Once, Devon Grey had loved me, now… now, what he felt for me was something even stronger than hate, it was a twisted kind of love, a love that enjoyed seeing me in pain – and all because he thought I betrayed him. I Stared into the mirror, my eyes scanning the face that stared back at me. It was that of a very beautiful young girl with pale milky skin, and a heart-shaped face dominated by large blue eyes, framed by long dark lashes. I blinked, and for some unknown reason, my eyes filled with tears.I was getting married to the rich and powerful Devon Grey, a man I was hopelessly, madly in love with, and yet I was frightened of him. Lately, he had been accusing me of betraying him, and I could not understand what I had done to make him think I could ever b

DEVON'S POV My heart turned cold as I listened to the sound of her pretentious cry. I felt my lips curve up in a wry smile – females! They were all the same, none of them were worthy of love, they could each be bought at the right price. I had been a fool to think Karen was any different, I had been drawn to her innocent looks and wide eyes. She seemed so kind, selfless and naïve, I had wanted to shelter her from every harmful thing in the world. I had willingly let down all my standards because of her, and in that time, it seemed the right thing to do. Looking back now, I could only see what a fool I was. Anger was a bitter taste at the back of my throat as I smiled again. It was ironic, I, Devon Grey, the most feared man in the country had been played for a fool, and all it took was the innocent looks of a nineteen year – old girl to fool me. At exactly 9:00 pm, the door opened, and Karen Desantis, my fiancé and soon to be wife stepped in. I could not deny her beauty.

KAREN'S POVThe rest of the party was a blur. All I was aware of was Devon’s accusation. And then, before I could even stop to breathe, the party was already over, and everyone was leaving. I wanted to call them back, to beg them to stay. Something told me the only reason I had not yet faced the full anger of my powerful fiancé was because his guests were present. What would Devon do when everyone left? My heart was thudding violently against my chest as he ushered the last one of the guests out, and then, he was dragging me - - into a room I had never been before. He turned on the lights, something low and smoky, like the kind of lights one would see in a night club, but it was only when my eyes adjusted to the dimly lit room that real fear entered my eyes. The room was a bedroom - - of some sorts. The bed itself was covered in black sheets, with black pillows. All around the bed, and hanging from the ceiling were various torture equipment - - or bondage toys. Was this D

  • A Billionaire's Love   Chapter 79

Karen’s POVThe day had dragged on longer than I expected. After the tense start to the morning, my meeting schedule seemed never-ending, and every conversation felt like a mountain to climb. By the time I left the office, my mind was a jumble of worries about the business, Devon, and—most of all—the kids. I pulled into the driveway, cutting the engine as I let out a deep breath. The house was quiet, the windows glowing softly in the evening light. A wave of exhaustion swept over me, but beneath it was a flicker of anticipation. I wasn’t sure what I’d find inside. Was Troy still here? I pushed the door open and stepped into the house, greeted by the faint sound of giggles coming from the living room. The warmth of the sound eased some of the tension in my chest. Kicking off my shoes, I made my way toward the laughter. There they were. Paris and Aiden were sprawled out on the carpet, coloring in their notebooks while Troy sat cross-legged on the floor, holding up a picture book

Devon’s POV“Get out. Now.” She said and her voice was filled with so much disdain and finality. Her words slashed through my heart and I froze in place. I didn't expect her to react like this, not after she had been so calm just moments ago.I opened my mouth to speak in my defense or at least try to explain to her what I wanted to say, hoping that maybe she'd give me a chance but her expression hardened even more and she raised her hand stopping me.“I don’t want to hear it, Devon. Just go,” she said, her tone clipped. “Get back to work.” She dismissed me before returning her head back to the system placed in front of her, even if she didn't look up again I could tell she was daring me to defy her. My chest tightened and instant regret overwhelmed me. I wanted to tell her everything, explain how sorry I was again and again, no matter how long it took. I nodded though I was reluctant and headed to the door, heading outside her office. The door closed behind me with a soft thud b

  • A Billionaire's Love   Chapter 77

Karen's pov I rushed to my car, trying to quiet the swirl of thoughts in my mind. The morning had been hectic, as it always was when Jordie wasn’t around. I’d barely had time to take a deep breath before Troy arrived, but there was something about him—his calm demeanor, his easy confidence—that reassured me. I’d watched him interact with Paris and Aiden, and the way he immediately slipped into a playful routine with them made me feel a little more at ease. As I settled into the driver’s seat, I adjusted the rearview mirror, took one last glance at the house, and pulled out of the driveway. The kids would be fine. I trusted Troy to take them to school, even though I’d only just met him. And as much as I had my reservations about letting a stranger—albeit a friend of Jordie’s—into our lives, I couldn’t deny that he had a certain calm energy about him. Something that puts my worries at ease.Still, I couldn’t shake the unease completely. What if something went wrong? What if the kids d
