The car was quiet as Mr. Orlando drove Rome to the DreamTeam company.
After a while of sitting in silence, Rome pulled his phone from his coat pocket and dialed his father.
Once Mr. Ford answered the call, Rome stared away from the windshield and mumbled, “Hello, father.”
“You got a favor to ask. What is it?” Mr. Ford's voice echoed into his ear.
“Hey! You are painting me like a terrible child. Can't a son call his father to say ‘Hi’ without it involving a flavor?”
“So you don't want me to do something for you?”
“Actually, I do. I need you to call the chief of police, inform him that I'm about to call him, and then send his number to me.”
“Other people get caring sons and I'm stuck with a child who only calls me when he needs a flavor.”
Holding in his laugh, Rome rested back on the seat and asked, “What do you need from me, dad?”
The line was silent for a few seconds. Then Mr. Ford's voice echoed from the
The first light of dawn met Rome already awake in bed. After blankly staring at the ceiling for a while, his ringtone drew his attention from the chandelier and onto his phone. Then he threw the sheet off him and sat up, resting his feet on the cold tiles before picking up his phone from the nightstand. Afterward, he headed into the bathroom, drew his pattern, unlocked the screen, and answered the call. “Good morning, young Ford.” Derek's voice flowed from the speaker. “What is it, Mr. Brown?” Rome asked with his focus on his reflection in the mirror. “I just want you to know that a member of the Darklight gang has got released, and we will be visiting the Barlow mansion this morning.” “Thanks for the heads up.” “My pleasure.” After canceling the call, he walked back into the room, stared at Catherine, sleeping peacefully, and thought, ‘Today is not going to be pretty. I hope you can handle it.’
When Catherine and Rome came out of the mansion, she gazed into his eyes, and he saw sadness in hers, even though she tried to mask it with a smile.“I should get going,” Catherine mumbled, keeping the fake smile on her lips.Without waiting for him to say something, she turned to leave, but Rome held her arm and gently turned her around to face him.Although he had his plans for the day, he looked at her with a pleading expression and said, “Do you want to skip work today and hang out with me today?”“Yes, but…” Catherine said, hesitating for a second.“Forget about everything else and answer me sincerely, okay?”“Okay, I want to hang out with you.”“Great. What kind of home-cooked meal do you like?”A smile crept on Catherine's lips as she chuckled and asked, “Why?”“Because we are spending the day at my dad's,
Finally, after preparing multiple dishes, Rome set the table and left the kitchen. When he arrived into the shop, he met Catherine and Mr. Miller, chatting happily, and the corners of his lips rose. At that moment, Catherine's gaze swayed towards him, and she bore worry in her eyes as she watched sweats dripping down his skin. “Are you okay?” Catherine asked, standing to her feet. “Yes, the table is set. You and dad should come and eat.” Rome said as his cheeks dimple. A few minutes later, they were all seated around the table in the kitchen, and Mr. Miller's eyes twinkled while he inhaled deeply and then mumbled, “I missed the smell of food cooked by you.” “Is his cooking that good?” Catherine asked, gazing at Mr. Miller. “Yeah. You should give it a try.” “Okay,” After a brief pause, Catherine picked up her fork, wrapped spaghetti around it, and took a bite. “This is really good!” Catherine mumble
After saying their goodbyes to Mr. Miller, Rome and Catherine got into her car, and Rome drove off. Five minutes into the drive, he stared at Catherine and mumbled, "So, what's the plan?" "I don't know. Maybe we can find the nearest boutique and get something to wear." Catherine said, still feeling depressed about the conversation that she had with a father. Knowing that she was in a bad mood, Rome kept silent, giving her the space she needed. After driving for a while, he stopped in front of a boutique that he knew very well. "We are here." Rome said, unbuckling his seat belt. Then he looked at Catherine, struggling with hers, and he leaned in towards her and unfastened her belt. "Thanks," Catherine whispered. "Are you okay?" Rome asked with concern in his eyes. "Yes… Well, no. But I will be." "Okay, we should head in." A look of excitement crossed Jerry's face when his boutique door opened, and
Within a matter of second, the hall got busy with noise, and things were getting out of control. The whispering got louder, and people kept mumbling or turning to the next person standing by them to gossip. In anger, Rome grabbed Catherine's hand and pulled her along as he headed for the door. “Rome, what are you doing? Grandma will be even more upset if we leave here in this manner.” Catherine whispered while obediently following him. As Chloe stared at Rome and Catherine, her mouth curved into a smirk. Then she folded her arms and mumbled, “How pathetic.” “Grandma, your useless son-in-law has become daring and ignorant. Don't he know his place in our family?” Richard mockingly said out loud, intending to humiliate Rome. Following his brother's lead, Jeff laughed and rudely intoned, “What a bad dog! How dare him try to bite the hands that feeds him.” When Rome heard those words, he stopped for a second before l
The music stopped as the hall became still, and silence took over the atmosphere since people could not believe what the police had just said. Then, after getting over their shock, the guests started to whisper to each other. “You think you know a person until they show you their true color.” A lady said out loud. “Oh, yes! How can a child be so black-hearted to his family?” A fellow uttered. Following his remarks were numerous comments about how terrible Jeff's action was. Their words anger Mr. Barlow, and when he gazed at his grandson, rage was the only emotion he felt. “You have shamed this family to a great degree!” Mr. Barlow coldly mumbled, balling his hand into a fist. “Grandfather, I can explain. It's all Chloe's fault that I did what I did! I burned it first because she was going to do it!” Jeff shouted as the police handcuff him. The sound of mumbling rose in the room, and one of the guests said, “I neve
After Rome parked Catherine’s car into the Barlow mansion garage and the two of them got down from the vehicle, the other family members' cars started entering the yard.“We should head inside,” Catherine whispered.“Okay,” Rome said. Both of them went into the house and took a seat on the living room’s couch as they waited for the others. It took a few minutes, then the sounds of footsteps and mumbling from the hallway echoed into the living room.Subconsciously, Catherine rested her palm on the back of Rome’s hand. But he turned his hand around, allowing their palms to touch as he laced his fingers with hers. The first person to enter the living room was Catherine’s mother, and when her gaze rested on her daughter, she moved her lips to speak but stopped when Edward came into the room.&ld
When the first light of dawn hit the window and beamed on Rome’s face, he raised his eyelids and stared at Catherine, laying on his bare chest. Then he slowly picked his phone from the nightstand, clicked on his inbox icon, and started typing. After writing everything he needed to say, he sent the message to Mr. Ford and put the phone back on the nightstand.Suddenly, Catherine raised her head and looked up at him.“Did I wake you up?” Rome asked.“No,” Catherine mumbled, resting her head back on his chest. Then he wrapped his arms around her and gently intoned, “What's the plan for today?”“I think it will be best to clear my things from Charles's office,” Catherine mumbled beneath her breath.“And then, we can go sightseeing?”“Umm, that sounds interesting. Let's drive around the city after getting my things.”A while later, Cath
Book three title: The son of a billionaire in Disguise.Ongoing now, exclusively on goodnovel.PreviewThe moment Catherine entered the kitchen and saw Parblo with the other servant, she forgot that she was hungry and rushed out of the room, hurrying for Rome's study. As she approached the stairs, Logan was coming down, and the two locked eyes. She could see the worry in his gaze, and Catherine blurted out, "Is he here?""Yes, ma'am. But I don't think you should go in there just yet." Logan hesitated. "He's planning on staying at the Rossi, and knows the relationship between Master and him-""Rome is going to be infuriated." "Yes. I think it's best you let them talk it out as father and son and try to give them some space for now," Logan suggested, his tone carrying a mix of concern and caution.Catherine nodded, her own worry deepening. "I understand. But if things get out of hand..."Logan took a step back, giving Catherine space, stepping aside, and she gave him a faint smile befor
By Monday, "Living as a billionaire" will get marked as "completed." But I have scanned through all of the comments and reviews. I remember telling my sister that "Living as a billionaire," will be the end of Rome and Catherine's story. But you guys have given me a change of mind, and right now, I can't tell you all that there is a solid idea for book three because my brain is focused on another novel I'm writing which is not in the same genre as, "Living as a billionaire." I write a bunch of random, messy up ideas, so my stories usually fall into different categories and audiences. Back to what I was saying, Mmmh, so yeah, that novel has my attention right now. But if Book three is something any of you will want to read, then please keep "Living as a billionaire" bookmark, and I will be back with a new announcement concerning Book three name and release date. Hopefully, it will be soon, but my hands are filled right now, and I don't w
*I don't even know where to start! Umm… My brain feels like a marshmallow. I slept for hours after updating the remaining chapters. But I am just so freaking happy for all the comments and the review I woke up to. *Book two wasn't a stable plan, and I had barely a paragraph for the entire book plot which was scary from the very beginning. So, seeing how far this book came and hearing you guys say that you like it, makes me speechless in a good way. *I am this crazy overthinking person, and if it was left with me, I would have assumed "Living as a billionaire" as the worst and given up on it. But you guys, you all made this book happen with the constant comments, gems, reviews, and purchases of the chapters. *Usually,
Pushing her hair behind her ear, Catherine smiled broadly. Then she looked to stare upward into Rome's eyes when he hugged her from the back."Look who's tummy is getting bigger," Rome whispered as his manly hands gently rested on her stomach."I can't believe he's already spent twelve-week in my stomach," Catherine whispered, gazing at her reflection in the mirror."He? Our baby is a she. Daddy little princess." Rome softly uttered. At first, Catherine pouted a bit. Then she chuckled and mumbled, "Should we do one of those fancy babies' gender reveal parties because at this point everyone seems to have their opinions about our baby's gender."As Rome
The moment the sunlight hit his face, Rome's hand searched his bed for his phone as he slowly raised his eyelids, and then blinked his eyelashes to adjust his vision to the bright light glowing in their room.Once he got a hold of his phone, he sat up in bed and unlocked it, then a frown settled on his lip as he stared at the fifteen missed calls notifications on his screen."Why is this Mathew guy calling back to back so early!" Rome mumbled.Sighing heavily, he called back, patiently waited, and after a few seconds, he said, “Good Morning, Mathew."“Good morning, Mr. Ford. I'm calling to find out if you are ready to cooperate with us today, or should we do this with force?"
After bringing his car to a stop in front of the St Louis Cardinals hospital, Rome pushed the door open and raced into the building. When he got to the waiting room, Amara was pacing back and forth with a look of fear in her eyes and plaster on her arm.The moment she saw Rome, she rushed to him and cried out, "My blood is not compatible with his. You have to help him out, please!!!""How are Axel and I related?!" Rome lashed out, unable to contain his anger and eagerness for the truth."He's your first cousin, Rome! Your uncle's first son! Mr. Ford's oldest brother's child! And also, my father's firstborn.""You are lying!"
The atmosphere quickly became hostile, and no one dared to move or utter a word as K clutched onto his side while choking on his blood."What the hell have you done!" Rome screamed, finally getting over his shock and realizing that his bodyguard had just taken a bullet to the stomach for him.Ignoring his remark, Axel fixed his cold gaze directly on Rome's angry expression. Then he frowned at Rome with the gun pointed directly at him and calmly said, "It's time to be your father's payment for redemption."Abruptly, the sudden sound of a silver vehicle speeding into the parking lot drew everyone's attention, and before Axel could get out of the way, the car bumped into him, sending him a few feet forward before he fell over to the floor.
A loud knock echoed into Axel's room, forcing him to leave his bed and walked over to the door. When he opened it, Axel scowled at his man and gazed the other way before walking back inside. “Boss, there's a problem,” Hunan said as he followed his boss further into the room. “What's the problem?” Axel mumbled, taking in a deep breath to ignore the anger he felt. When Hunan's gaze met his cold eyes, the room fell silent, and the atmosphere became awkward. Then he coughed slightly, stared away from Axel, and said, "I just got word that Richard went over to the safe house this morning." "What! How could they let him inside!... Who let him inside!" Axel roughly said, squeezing his fist. "I don't know, boss. He came demanding to talk face to face with you and refused to leave." Hunan mumbled, keeping his gaze glued to the f
I am working on the last chapters. The next time I updated, it will be the complete chapters to end the story. I will be releasing it tomorrow. I am doing editing and some finishing touches. I can not believe this is happening, but yeah, "Living as a billionaire" ends tomorrow. There are still a few more plots to cover, so I might release the chapters lately tomorrow. But there is no excuse or another date. We are closing this book tomorrow, and I'm so freaking grateful to everyone who has been on this journey with me from book one. Anyways, catch you all tomorrow for the finale! Sincerely, Author Rever.
