Chapter 3

Third Person's POV

Milo nibbles on his lip as he scans the crowd. He wasn't sure he'd come, but he hoped he would. The Omega's eyes carefully move through the crowd, and his heart skips when his eyes land on him.

Milo wiggles out of Weston's arms and dashes through the crowd. Timothy stands near the building, far away from the crowd. His eyes scan the area, looking for a certain Omega. His face lights up when Milo bursts from the crowd. It took him a moment to realize just how fast the Omega was running, and he took a few steps back before opening his arms to catch him. Milo collides with Timothy, and they tumble backward into a bush. They roll out of the bush and land between the bush and the pack house with Milo on top.

Timothy falls into a fit of giggles as Milo peppers kisses all over his face, telling the Omega how much he missed him. The sound of Timothy's laughter is music to Milo's ears, and he pulls back to look at him.

The Omega beneath Milo is beautiful, especially when he laughs. His eyes twinkle as he stares at him, causing Milo's heart to flutter. Both Omega's eyes flutter closed as Milo presses their lips together. Milo requests entry, which Timothy quickly grants. His lips part, and Milo's tongue invades his mouth.

The smaller Omega moans as Milo's tongue wraps around his. His hand glides down Milo's back before slipping into his pants and grips his ass.

Milo deepens the kiss as his hands tangle in the larger Omega's hair. Their hips move as they grind against each other, pressing and rubbing their hardening lengths together.

The scent of their slick begins to fill the air, making their mouths water. Timothy's head lifts off the ground as he searches Milo's mouth deeper, gripping and pulling him closer. His legs wrap around Milo, and his ass leaves the ground as he thrusts his hips forward.

Weston let his nose guide him, and as he got closer, he heard their little whimpers. As he neared the end of the building, the scent of their intoxicating pheromones became so strong that it was almost too much for him.

He shook his head at the two horny little Omegas that couldn't seem to keep their hands off of each other, not even when hundreds of potential enemies surrounded them. Weston adjusted himself, taking the strain off of his cock before stepping behind the bush, where he found the two little Omegas tangled in each other.

The commander in training reached down and plucked Milo away from Timothy. Milo growled at him as Timothy whimpered, reaching for Milo.

“Knock it off! You two are so bad!” Weston said as he placed Milo on his left hip, then reached down and lifted Timothy into his arms, replacing him on his right hip. The Omegas grabbed each other's faces behind Weston's head and locked lips. Weston groaned in frustration when they began grinding against him.

“For the love of Goddess, Really?” Weston said in disbelief.

The commander in training found it difficult to walk with a painfully hard cock, not to mention the fact that he could feel their hard lengths grinding against his sides.

“Can you ease up on your pheromones, just a little?” Weston asked, praying for a little help in this difficult situation. The scent of their slick was already mouth-watering, but with the raging pheromones of not just one Omega, but two, it's enough to make any dominant male lose their mind.

Nikolai, Adrian, and himself are the only three dominant males who can be near the two Omegas when they're like this. Everyone else loses themselves and tries to mate with them.

Weston walks to the end of the building and turns left. He pushes on the Alpha's link, and he opens it.

“Did you by any chance talk to Timothy's Alpha and see if we can purchase him?” Weston asked through the mind link.

“I'm on my way to do that right now. Is everything okay?”

“Yes and no. The Omegas are okay, but they're trying to mate in my arms. I'm taking them to the basement so they can get it out of their system. I'll be back out there as soon as I get these guys cleaned up, and change my clothes.” Weston said before closing the link.

They've been trying to buy Timothy all year, but his Alpha refused to sell him. He said he wouldn't sell his Omegas outside the annual party.

When they bought Milo, they had no idea Timothy existed or that they were a secret item while there. Timothy was hurt from a beating he received that morning and was unable to attend the event last year.

It wasn't until Milo opened up to them that they discovered he had a boyfriend and how badly he was treated.

They couldn't purchase Timothy, but they fooled the Alpha into thinking Weston wanted him as a breeder and temporary mate. Someone to warm his bed until he finds a suitable mate.

This allowed Timothy two weekend visits with them each month. Because the Alpha cooperated, Weston is hoping this means he'll be willing to sell Timothy.

Weston pushes the door open and kicks it closed behind them. He walks down the stairs and kicks the second door open on the left. He struggles to reach up and turn the light on and barely manages before tossing them on the bed. Weston's eyes widen, and his mouth hangs open. He is shocked at the speed at which they begin ripping each other's clothes off.

For a moment, the soon-to-be commander can't move. His feet are rooted in place by the incredibly strong scent of their mixed pheromones and the sight of their slick slowly running down their thighs.

He snaps out of it as he watches Milo's cock disappear inside Timothy's ass.

It took everything Weston had to force himself out of that room. He raced up the stairs, threw the door open, and stopped as he bent forward, bracing his hands on his knees. The soon-to-be commander took a lung full of fresh air in through his nose, before exhaling from his mouth, trying to clear his senses, and fighting the urge to go back and join them.

Weston eventually cleared their scent from his nose, but it took several minutes of deep breathing.

Once he got himself under control, he returned to the basement, where he began to regret having a werewolf's incredible sense of hearing.

Adrian's POV The closer I get to the drink stand, the further the asshole's smirk spreads. Of all the Alphas, Alaric is the one I hate the most. The asshole made school a nightmare. I got lucky with elementary and middle school; our pack had our own. High school is a different story. They believe it helps create future bonds between packs if their children go to high school together. The idea is that they learn together and become friends so that when they're older, they have connections with other packs instead of just their own. This idea would work if the children from other packs got along, but that's not always the case. Don't get me wrong, some people from different packs get along, but some don't.Some keep to themselves, some make friends, and people like Alaric make other people's lives hell. I missed my own graduation ceremony because me and this dipshit were having it out behind the school. This fucker thought it would be funny to shred my cap and gown and fill my trunk

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 5

Third Person's POV Weston was frustrated that Timothy's Alpha refused to discuss any deals on the Omega until it was time to release all of them. Thankfully, they didn't have to wait much longer, and before they knew it, it was time to release the Omegas.Weston hated this part, and so did the rest of his pack. The Omegas from visiting packs had to remain isolated until it was time for them to come out. Once they came out, it was their turn to see if they had a mate there. You could see the hope in their eyes, but you could also see fear. Fear of the unknown. If they have a mate, will he reject or accept them? If he does accept them, will he be nice, or will he use and abuse them like most people do? It wasn't as heartwarming and glamorous for the Omegas to find their mates, but it was worse when they didn't. Any Omegas left without a mate were free grabs for anyone who needed a breeder. The Omegas file out of the pack house and nervously walk through the crowd. Their noses flared a

Adrian POV I never realized how exhausting it was to experience a rejection. I knew it was painful, and I knew it was dangerous for lower ranks, but I never realized that, even for someone like me, the toll it takes on your body.Every muscle in my body ached. And not like I just overdid it working out and pushed myself a little too hard, no. It felt like I had worked out for 3 days straight. My muscles were on fire. It was even hard to walk to the bathroom. My chest constantly ached. It felt like someone ripped my heart from my chest. Not even in my sleep was I able to get away from it, or away from him. Every time I fell asleep, I dreamed of him rejecting me over and over again. He haunted me every time I closed my eyes.I hear a whimper again as he snuggles closer, and I finally force myself to open my eyes. When my eyes open, I'm met with a head full of strawberry blonde hair. The Omega has been my constant companion. He refuses to leave me alone and tries his hardest to make me

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 7

Adrian's POV I'm not strong enough to return to training yet, but at least I'm not stuck in bed all day. It's been 6 days since I was rejected, and my strength is finally returning. The doctor is surprised I'm already up and about. Most people can't drag themselves out of their room for at least two weeks. I'm not an Alpha, but I am a Beta—and a strong one at that. On the training field, I'm at the top of my class and undefeated. I think my strength and high position as the next in line Beta is helping my body heal and get over the rejection faster, even though the doc doesn't think so. He seems to think no matter how high-ranked you are or how strong you are, you'll still be down for a minimum of two weeks. He's perplexed by how fast I'm healing, but I say the old man isn't giving me credit. I've wiped the floor with Nikolai's ass on more than one occasion, although he got the best of me the other times. I'm trying to read everything I've missed, but these two loudmouths beside me

Adrian's POV The cold winter air rushes against my face as I sprint through the woods. I feel Max wanting to shift, but I don't want him to—not yet. He's still weak from the rejection. I took a hit from it, but my wolf took a bigger hit. It's why it takes us so long to heal from a rejection. Our beautifully designed fast werewolf healing is done by our wolf. They have the ability to heal our bodies incredibly fast. The higher the rank, the faster you heal. The lower the rank, the slower you heal. What would normally take a human days or weeks to heal will take us hours or days. Rejection hurts our wolf more than it hurts us. It takes them a long time to recover from losing a part of their soul. A mate isn't just anyone; it's your soulmate. It's a person born with a piece of your soul, and when you're together, your soul is complete as you become one. It's the reason mates are stronger together, but it's also the reason it affects us so much when rejected. Max is still healing, and

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 9

Alaric's POVI always enjoyed fucking with him. Adrian was too easy to rile up. It hardly took anything to piss him off and get him to fight me. That little shit always gave me a run for my money. I would never tell him, but he's a good fighter. He gave me a challenge instead of backing down like everyone else. At first, I hated it. The audacity of that little Beta talking back to me, standing his ground, and stepping up to me pissed me off like nothing else. But then I grew to love it. I loved the challenge, and so did my wolf, a little too much. Zion looked at Adrian like a game of chase. Nothing excites an Alpha more than chasing someone, and he sure puts up a fight during that figurative game of chase… I think that's the reason my wolf fell for him. I didn't realize it until it was too late, and by then, my wolf was in love.I never imagined my stupid wolf would fall for the enemy. It frustrated me beyond belief. The only way to get rid of those frustrations was to take it out on

Adrian's POV Slowly, I wake up, and my body feels stiff and heavy, like a weight is pressing down against me. I blink my eyes open, look down, and I see bleach-blonde hair on my chest causing my heart to stop. ‘What is he doing here?’It takes a moment for the shock to wear off enough for me to breathe again. I take a shaky breath in as I look at him lying with his head on my chest and my left arm draped over his neck. His eyes are closed, and his lips are parted. His breaths are deep and even; he's asleep. The asshole that has been the cause of my suffering looks so fucking handsome, and I hate it. Why does he have to look so good? He looks so peaceful, and for the first time, he doesn't look like an asshole. I feel Max waking from his slumber to look at him, urging me to touch him. He wants him… Even after the bastard broke our heart and threw the bond away like we were nothing… He still wants him. He still thinks this asshole is his. His desire to touch him and my desire to touch

Alaric's POV Trying to focus on anything since he got hurt has been nearly impossible. Thank goodness my father had been out of town, and from what I know, he is unaware I went into Adrian's territory. Hell, he's been so busy since the day I found out Adrian was my mate that he hasn't realized I've been going through a rejection. It's not that it's anyone's fault but my own, but still, he knew something was wrong before he left, and yet he left anyway.I don't understand why I can't get Adrian out of my head, and why he's everything I think of every minute of the day. The rejection should have prevented this from happening, but it didn't. I'm finally strong enough to return to training, but I can't keep my mind off of him long enough, and I end up getting the shit beat out of me each time I step onto the mat. It's beyond frustrating, and embarrassing. I find myself getting angrier with him. I want to hate him, but I can't. I want to sneak over there and kick his ass, but the though

Third Person's POV Nikolai isn't sure if the asshole did it on purpose, or if it was a freak accident, but when he opened the door to climb into the backseat of his parents car, he found himself staring into Alaric's eyes.Nikolai swears it was a reflex when his stomach retched. The thought of sitting all cozy next to that asshole even for 30 minutes was nauseating and had him gagging. Nikolai nearly lunged forward into Alaric's lap when his dad swatted him before climbing into the front seat. He was horrified when he heard not only Alaric but also Adrian and his own father snort before laughing at his expense. He would have growled at everyone if his dad hadn't been there. Even though his dad was small, that little Omega sometimes scared him. Nikolai huffed and mumbled under his breath as he climbed into the backseat and pressed his body against the door, trying to keep as much distance as possible between himself and the clown beside him. Nikolai nearly jumped out of his skin wh

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 41

Third person's POV Skylar's eyes were closed and a soft smile rested on his face. Goosebumps spread along his body as Weston's fingers lightly trailed his arm, shoulder, neck and back. The Omega was in a blissful state of happiness, lost in his mate's touch, scent and warmth. He had never experienced such affection, and it felt incredible. His Delta's strong hands were surprisingly soft and gentle as they affectionately touched him. Weston couldn't take his eyes off of his mate. The way he lay in his arms, nuzzled in against his chest. Each time he hears the sound of his purr trying to kick on his heart flutters and he holds his breath, hoping to hear the beautiful sound. Unfortunately, Skylar catches himself each time and pulls in his purr. Years of not being allowed to be happy were ingrained in him. There weren't many instances, but the rare occasions where he purred, he learned how unacceptable it was.Lips press against the side of Skylar's face and warmth quickly fills him. Th

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 40

Third Person's POV Adrian took Alaric's hand, threading their fingers tightly together, and took one last breath before pushing the door open and leading Alaric outside. Almost immediately Adrian felt everyone's eyes on them. Nikolai's laughter died as soon as his eyes landed on Alaric. Adrian prayed his mate would make it out of this in one piece as he walked toward his family. His father looked indecisive, as if he was unsure whether to pound Alaric's face in, or accept him. Alpha Victor had a blank expression, and Leonard had an amused expression. ‘Probably remembering all the times Alaric stumbled out of his bedroom.’ Adrian thought. Weston's expression mirrors Victor's, and Nikolai looks ready to murder Alaric, which doesn't surprise Adrian. Alaric saw everyone's expression and wasn't the least bit surprised they didn't look happy to see him. He didn't blame them, but he couldn't stop his cockiness from rearing its head. “I'm glad you could finally join us,” Victor said as

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 39

Third Person's POV “Now don't you worry about anything! These big men might look scary, but they're a bunch of saps. For example, I don't know if you met Timothy and Milo, but they're two Omegas that love each other very much, but could never take each other as chosen mates because something like that isn't allowed in other places. Those big scary men risked everything to purchase them for their freedom so they can be together, and they would do the same for you and other Omegas.Anyone of them would jump up and risk their lives for those two little Omegas, just like my son, Nikolai, and Adrian would. They might look scary, but they would never hurt you. You have my word, and my word means everything to me. Besides, you're my son-in-law. If anyone hurts you, they'd have to deal with me and Wes. That's a combo no one wants to mess with! I might look small, cute and innocent, but I've taken the commander of this pack down, and the Beta once or twice, and I'd do it again if anyone messe

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 38

Third Person's POV Adrian felt like an ass. What he said about Omegas was true, some kill themselves after their child is taken from them. He wasn't trying to hurt him. He was trying to open his eyes to what they go through. He had no idea Alaric's dad died and that it wasn't even suicide. It was negligence from the hospital, and more than likely his father's chosen mate played a hand in it as well.If Adrian had known, he would have never said what he said. When Alaric pulled back, Adrian took his face into his hands. The Alpha grabbed Adrian's shirt and pulled him closer, pressing their foreheads together. “You don't have to apologize. I understand what you were doing. You wanted me to see things the way that you do.” “Do you?” Adrian asked, and he shrugged. “I think I always have. I don't know… I don't know if I was going along with it because I was afraid to go against the grain and afraid to upset our people and my father, or if I was just turning a blind eye to it… once I f

Skyler's POV As I took a shower, I replayed that moment in the woods when my powers came back. I knew he had to have seen them. That was a burst, and it was a big one. The others I experienced were never near anyone, but this was different, and my mate was on the other side of that tree.I know he had to have seen it. How could he not? The blue light was almost blinding. Thank Goddess it was only a release of energy and nothing harmful. I don't know what I would have done if I had hurt him. He was different on the walk back to the packhouse. He was quiet and looked deep in thought. I wanted to talk to him. I wanted to ask him what he was thinking, but I already knew…I was afraid of what he was thinking. He saw it, but did he know it was me? Maybe he didn't. Maybe he thought it came from somewhere else. I can only hope he doesn't know it came from me. The last thing I need is for him to find out I'm a freak. I wonder what he would do if he found out. He would probably reject me, thr

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 36

Skylar's POV Instead of being scared, I was excited as Weston walked me through the pack house and out the back door. As excited as I was, it was nothing compared to Rain's excitement. He bounced off the walls in my head, making it hurt. I struggled to keep him contained. He was ready to shift before we made it into the woods. Unfortunately, his excitement was so high that it was stirring our powers that have been dormant since we were rescued. It reminded me of someone trying to start the engine of an old vehicle that didn't want to start. I could feel that familiar pressure and static sensation swirling in my core as it tried to kick on. ‘Knock it off!’ I scolded my excited wolf, but it did no good. We were in the woods, and he knew that any moment, Weston would stop and say it was time to shift. He was too excited to meet his Delta wolf. I think Weston could feel my excitement, he looked down at me and smiled. “I suppose this is as good as any spot,” Weston said, pulling his sh

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 35

Adrian's POV I rolled onto my back as the bathroom door closed and exhaled as I looked at the ceiling. I stared at it for a moment and wondered if this was real. Did he really claim me? My hand instinctively reaches up, and my heart flutters when I touch my neck, and a pleasurable tingling sensation shoots through my body, letting me know it's real. It doesn't hurt; his tongue healed the wound, leaving behind his mark in a raised pattern of his teeth. My scent is no longer my own. His scent is now mixed with mine. For me it's faint, and once I'm used to it I won't realize it's there, but for others it's very noticeable. If someone can't see my mark, they'll definitely know I'm claimed by my scent alone since it's the scent of two people. To Alaric, my scent doesn't change much. My unique scent that only he can smell as his mate is still there, and just as strong. The only difference now is he can smell the faint underlying scent of his own, as if he scented me and it's wearing off.

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 34

Alaric's POV I knew I hurt him when I broke the bond. I know I hurt him each time we had sex and I didn't mark him, but goddess I wanted to. I wanted to so badly. I knew I hurt him, but I never realized the extent of it. I hurt him deeper than I ever realized.Seeing the pain in his eyes and feeling it as if it's your own are too different things. One is an assumption since you can only see it, and the other is surety. You feel it as though it's your heartbreak.I feel like the biggest ass. All those times he was waiting and hoping that I'd claim him. All those nights I saw his smiling face when I dropped down from the balcony was a mask to cover his pain. Each night I disappeared into the woods, he was left alone with his disappointment and broken heart. I went home happy while he cried himself to sleep. I got my fix. My heart was content, and I stayed away until I couldn't and needed another fix of him. He was my drug, and I was his soulmate. He held onto hope that one day, I would
