Daphne

Enzo's hand moved gently up my back, his touch warm and steady, as though he were trying to reassure me of something he couldn’t yet say. His strength enveloped me, but it wasn’t suffocating. It was protective, anchoring. I couldn’t remember the last time I felt this safe, this… seen. The storm of my thoughts began to quiet, leaving only the sound of our breaths mingling in the cool night air.

“You confuse me,” I whispered, daring to meet his intense gaze again. His dark eyes seemed to gleam under the soft light of the moon, full of emotions I couldn’t decipher.

“How so?” he asked, his voice low and husky, sending a tremor through me.

I hesitated, unsure how much of my heart I wanted to reveal. But something about this moment, this man, made it impossible to hold back. “One moment, you’re distant, cold—like you can’t even stand to look at me. And then, you’re here, holding me like I mean something to you.”

He let out a deep sigh, his hand moving to cradle the back of my head.

DaphneThe morning sunlight streamed through the tall windows of the pack house, warming my skin as I stepped into the dining hall. It should have been a peaceful morning, but the air was thick with unease. Whispers rippled through the pack like wildfire. I couldn’t ignore the furtive glances sent my way or the abrupt silences that fell whenever I entered a room.I tried to push it aside, focusing on my daily tasks, but the tension wrapped around me like a suffocating blanket. Something was wrong. It wasn’t until I heard the distant howls, sharp, desperate cries that sent a shiver down my spine that my fears solidified. My heart raced as I hurried to the window, peering out to see a group of patrol wolves carrying a prisoner between them.A rogue. My pulse quickened as the Alpha’s commanding voice boomed from outside. Enzo was in his element, his tone calm yet laced with authority. As much as I wanted to stay away from the commotion, curiosity tugged at me. Before I could talk myself

DaphneThe days had grown colder, and with them, the atmosphere in the pack house. The rogue’s words lingered like a curse over everyone, and while no one dared to speak openly about it, I could feel the weight of their suspicion.I tried to distract myself with small tasks, arranging the books in the library, helping in the kitchen, even wandering the gardens when no one was around but nothing could ease the knot in my chest. Every time I passed someone, their gaze lingered a second too long, and the whispers started before I was even out of earshot. It was Fiona, of course, who made her disapproval the loudest."Careful with the silverware, Daphne," she said one morning as I placed the polished knives on the dining table. Her tone was sweet, but her smile was sharp. "We wouldn’t want you to cut yourself. Or anyone else."My cheeks burned as the pack members sitting nearby chuckled under their breath. I wanted to snap back, to tell her to mind her own business, but I bit my tongue an

Daphne The hours after Enzo left the garden felt like a lifetime. The crash had sent a ripple of unease through the pack house, and though I didn’t know the source of the chaos, I could feel the tension thickening in the air.I lingered in the garden for as long as I could, hoping that the fresh air might calm my racing heart. But when the sun dipped below the horizon, and the cold began to seep into my bones, I reluctantly made my way back inside. The pack house was eerily quiet as I walked through the halls. Normally, I’d hear laughter or the low murmur of conversation, but tonight, there was nothing but the faint creak of the wooden floorboards beneath my feet.As I approached the staircase leading to my room, I heard voices drifting from the dining hall. Curious and more than a little apprehensive, I crept closer, careful to stay out of sight.“You’ve gone too far this time, Fiona,” Enzo’s voice growled, low and dangerous.“I’ve done nothing but protect this pack,” Fiona snapped

Enzo The door slammed shut behind me, Fiona’s sharp words still ringing in my ears. My jaw clenched as I strode down the hallway, my boots hitting the wooden floor with heavy thuds. This wasn’t the life I had envisioned. I had always known Fiona to be territorial, but the presence of Daphne had ignited something far worse. This was why I had resisted the idea of a breeder in the first place. A simple plan, an heir to break the curse and ensure the survival of my pack. No attachments, no emotions. But nothing was simple anymore.I turned a corner and froze. Tobias was standing near the staircase with Daphne. They were talking, their heads tilted toward each other, smiles tugging at their lips. Daphne’s delicate laughter floated through the air, soft yet vibrant, and for a moment, I was rooted to the spot.Jealousy surged through me like wildfire. The way Tobias looked at her, it was too familiar, too comfortable. And Daphne... She seemed happy. Not the subdued, cautious woman I had co

DaphneThe night was unusually quiet, the pack house bathed in soft moonlight. I found myself restless, unable to sleep, so I wandered outside, letting the cool breeze brush against my skin. The garden, with its blooming flowers and faintly glowing fireflies, had become my sanctuary, one of the few places I could breathe without feeling the weight of everyone’s expectations pressing down on me.I reached the edge of the garden where a secluded gazebo stood, its white wooden beams entwined with fragrant ivy. I hadn’t expected anyone to be there, but as I stepped closer, I froze.Alpha Enzo stood inside, leaning against one of the posts, his gaze fixed on the horizon. His usual stern demeanor seemed to have softened, his face illuminated by the silver light of the moon.I hesitated, unsure if I should interrupt him, but the creak of the wooden steps beneath my feet betrayed my presence. His head turned sharply, and for a moment, our eyes locked.“Couldn’t sleep?” he asked, his voice low

DaphneThe fire crackled softly in the hearth, the warmth of the flames barely reaching the chill of the night air that lingered in the room. The soft glow illuminated the space, casting shadows that danced across the walls, but my focus was entirely on him.Enzo.I could feel the tension in the air, thick and electric, as he stood there, silent, watching me. His eyes were dark, almost predatory, and yet, there was something softer about the way he looked at me tonight. I’d never seen him this vulnerable before, not even in moments of quiet. His walls, which had always been so carefully constructed, were beginning to crack, and I could see the raw emotion behind them.It made my heart race, and I couldn’t look away. I should have felt scared. I should have run, pulled away from the heat between us. But I couldn’t. Not anymore.I took a slow, deliberate step toward him, my feet dragging against the cool floor as my pulse thrummed in my ears. My breath was shallow, but I didn’t care. I

DaphneThe morning sun poured through the large windows, painting the walls with golden light. I stood there, arms wrapped around myself, watching the world wake up outside. Birds chirped in the distance, the trees swayed gently in the wind, and everything seemed so peaceful. But inside me, a storm raged. The contract. The curse. The unbearable thought of leaving my child behind. The weight of it all pressed down on me, threatening to suffocate me.I barely noticed when the bed shifted behind me, but I felt the warmth of his presence before he even touched me. Enzo moved silently, the way only an Alpha could, until his arms slipped around my waist from behind, pulling me into his embrace. His lips found my shoulder, pressing soft kisses along my skin, and I closed my eyes, savoring the feeling even as my heart ached.“You left our bed,” he murmured against my neck, his voice husky from sleep.I forced a small smile, tilting my head slightly as if nothing was wrong. “I couldn’t sleep.”

DaphneAs I watched Alpha Enzo’s face light up with happiness, a warmth spread through my chest, and I couldn’t help but smile. He looked so different in that moment, so unguarded. The fierce, commanding Alpha who had always seemed untouchable now looked like a man who had just been handed his greatest dream.A child. His child.I felt a flutter of something I couldn’t quite describe—joy, perhaps, or hope—but it was quickly overshadowed by a sinking feeling that coiled in the pit of my stomach. The curse. The contract. The promises I had made when I first came to the pack.Reality settled over me like a heavy cloak. This happiness wasn’t mine to keep. It was temporary, fleeting, a dream I had no right to hold onto.I lowered my gaze to my stomach and gently placed my hand there. A tiny life was growing inside me, a child created from the love Enzo and I had shared—even if it hadn’t been planned, even if it had started as something far more complicated. This child was real, undeniable,

As I left doctor Tobias’s office, I walked slowly, my thoughts tangled with a mix of curiosity and longing. I couldn’t help but wonder what Alpha Enzo was doing. Tobias had assured me that everything looked good during my check-up, but my mind wasn’t focused on myself. Instead, it drifted to Enzo.I had overheard earlier that he was in a meeting with the council, discussing the last rogue attack and strategies to prevent further incursions. I admired his dedication, his tireless efforts to protect the pack, but selfishly, I missed him. I missed the way he held me close, his strong arms wrapping me in a cocoon of warmth and safety. Even thinking about it sent a small smile to my lips and made my chest ache with yearning.By the time I reached my room, I felt the weight of the day pressing down on me. After closing the door, I kicked off my shoes and settled onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Hours passed as I allowed my mind to wander, reliving memories of Enzo’s rare but heart-m

Fiona I paced back and forth in my chambers after my outburst, my thoughts running wild, my heart pounding with a mixture of anger and confusion. The plan had been flawless or so I thought. Now, everything was unraveling, and I felt powerless to stop it. The walls seemed to close in on me, suffocating me with the weight of my own mistakes.Suddenly, the door swung open, slamming against the wall with a loud thud. I froze mid-step, my chest tightening as Fred walked in and shut the door behind him. His face was a storm of frustration, his lips pressed into a thin line.“What are you doing?” he demanded, his voice low but sharp.“What do you mean?” I asked, feigning ignorance even as guilt bubbled under my skin.Fred stepped closer, his eyes narrowing as he whispered, “This wasn’t part of the plan.”“What are you talking about?” I asked, my voice trembling despite my efforts to sound composed.“You asked me to find someone helpless,” he began, his tone filled with restrained fury. “An

Daphne I was making my way through the hallways, the soft click of my shoes echoing off the floors as I moved toward the kitchen. My mind was occupied with tasks ahead and staying out of everyone’s way. As always, I kept my head low, aware of the stares, the whispers, and most of all, the simmering tension in the air.But today felt different. Something was off. A heaviness I couldn't quite place seemed to settle over me as I passed by the study. Then, a voice cut through the silence, sending a chill down my spine.“Daphne.”I froze. The voice belonged to Fiona.I turned slowly, meeting her cold, piercing gaze. She was standing near the study door, arms crossed, a smirk playing on her lips. Her presence seemed to fill the space with a kind of suffocating arrogance. It was as if she could make the very air around her thick with her disdain.“What do you want?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.Fiona’s smile widened, her eyes narrowing in a look that made my stomach twist. “Oh

Enzo The office door closed behind me with a soft click as I settled into my chair. Fred, my Beta, sat across from me, his usual calm demeanor giving nothing away, though I knew he had a lot on his mind."Alpha, the rogues have been spotted near the border again," Fred began, sliding a folder across the table to me. "They seem to be gathering in numbers. They're not making any direct moves yet, but we should be prepared."I opened the folder and scanned the reports, my mind still half-occupied with everything that had happened over the last few days—Daphne, the kiss, the tension. The way she looked at me that night... The way her lips had felt against mine, so soft, so intoxicating."Mm," I muttered, trying to focus on Fred's words, pushing aside the stirring thoughts of her. "What do you suggest?"Fred's voice seemed to fade slightly as my thoughts wandered back to her. Daphne had this way of entering my mind without warning. Her eyes, the way they would light up when I touched her,
