ENZO

I was in my office going through some files but I wasn't myself, I was drowning in my thoughts. This is the first time a situation is getting me so worked up, I have never had to worry about anything because I always have every situation under control but this time around, this situation got me thinking so hard.

The position of the Alpha wasn't the only thing I inherited from my father, I also inherited the curse which was placed on him which means that I won't be able to make it to age thirty. I married my mate and love of my life hoping to have kids with her before I die but everything changed when the pack doctor informed me that she can't have kids due to some health issues.

I didn't love her less, my love for her increased and I want her to be by my side until the day I take my last breath but there's something I have always wanted, which is to have a child, an heir.

I was lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice Fred, my Beta and best friend walk into my office.

"I have found a solution " He said while facing me.

"What kind of solution?I don't want to hear those of your silly jokes and ideas "

"I'm here as your friend who cares about you, I will appreciate it if you listen to me "

"What do you have to say "

"Let's find you a breeder "

"What? No way!!!"

"Yes way, do you have any other ideas? Judging from the way you are staring at me I know you don't and besides there's nothing wrong with having a breeder ".

I rose to my feet , towering over my Beta. "Do you think I'm a monster, Fred? That I'd force some helpless woman into this..... this nightmare?" .

Fred Squared his shoulders. "No, Alpha. But you will die if you do nothing. And so will this pack, without a leader strong enough to protect it. You are not just fighting for yourself, you are fighting for all of us. "

The words hung heavy in the air. I turned away, staring out the rain streaked window. I could feel the curse like a noose tightening around my neck. Each minute, The ache in my chest grew stronger, a grim reminder of the time slipping through my fingers.

I stood up rubbing my fingers against each other as I walked around my office, thinking about what Fred said.

"Give me some time to think about it and discuss it with my Luna."

"Don't take long, we don't have time. "

I watched as he walked out of my office and closed the door behind him.

I was conflicted, I don't want My Luna, Fiona to feel bad and betrayed. I walked in and met her sitting down on the bed and walked up to her, I sat down beside her and gently held her hand while staring at her "I have something I want to discuss something with you " I told while trying to hold it together.

She gently placed her hands on mine"I already know what this is all about, I overheard your conversation with Fred and I don't have any problem with you having a breeder. If I can't have a child for you then you can have it with someone else " She smiled but I know behind those smiles lays pains, pains that she has to hide just for me to be able to have an heir.i gently pulled her closely into a  hug and planted a kiss on her forehead, one thing I know for sure is that having a breeder won't break the bond we have, I chose her to be by my side and I will always choose her.

"Find someone," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "But I want to meet her first."

Fred nodded, relief flashing across his face. "I will handle everything."

I gave Fred the permission to go on and look for a breeder and we decided to keep it a secret, no one must know about it and the people that worked at the Pack house were made to swear not to say a word about it or lose their lives.

Now, I'm standing in front of a pretty lady who's broken, has a lot of injuries on her body and that infuriated me. How can Fred bring this lady into my pack house?

"Get rid of her!" I commanded and stormed out of the room angrily, I went to my room and Fiona followed me, "it's okay! She's the perfect person for this, just let the pack doctor take care of her and she will be fine. "

She was kept under the supervision of the pack doctor who was treating her injuries and making sure she heals.

Few days later she was okay and I asked to meet her, she was brought to the sitting room where I was seated with Fred, she was so pretty and her hair fell perfectly down her shoulders but her eyes.......her eyes tells a story she couldn't tell with her mouth, I know a broken soul when I see one and this innocent and naive lady was one.

You could tell she was shy and embarrassed, she found it hard to look into my eyes as she stood in front of me but I don't care, I just want her to be my breeder and that's all.

Her feet felt like lead, but she forced herself to step forward, stopping a few paces from where I sat. Up close, I was even more intimidating. My dark eyes seemed to pierce straight through her, and the weight of my gaze made her want to shrink into herself.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Daphne, " she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I studied her for a long moment, and she felt the weight of my scrutiny. It wasn't the leering gaze she was used to from the men her step mother entertained, it was something deeper, more thoughtful.

“You’re not here by choice,” I said finally. It wasn’t a question.

“No,” she admitted.

Silence fell between us. Fred shifted uncomfortably, but I didn’t take my  eyes off her.

“You’ll be treated fairly,” I said at last. “You’ll have food, shelter, and protection. In return, you’ll give me what I need.”

Daphne swallowed hard. “And what happens when I do? When will you have your child?”

My expression darkened, my jaw tightening. “That depends on the curse. If I live…” I  trailed off, as if unwilling to finish the thought. “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”

She wanted to ask more, but the exhaustion in my voice stopped her.

“I don’t have a choice, do I?” she asked softly.

“No,” I said. “But I’ll do my best to make this easier for you. That’s more than most Alphas would offer.”

The honesty in my  words took her by surprise. She nodded slowly, not trusting herself to speak.

"You can leave, I have assigned some servants to take care of your needs " I said to her as I watch her struggle to take a step, she missed her step and was about falling down when I grabbed her and she fell into my body staring into my eyes, her soft hands were wrapped around my neck and I could feel a sensation in my heart.

"What are you trying to do to me?" I asked.

For one brief moment, I had felt like more than just a purchased obligation. Like maybe, just maybe, I mattered to him in some small way.But I was wrong. It started the very next morning. Alpha Enzo avoided me entirely. During breakfast, he barely glanced in my direction. My heart ached in a way I hadn’t thought possible, the weight of his rejection crushing me.I shouldn’t care.I shouldn’t care what Alpha Enzo thought, what he felt or didn’t feel for me. He was my Alpha. My captor. The man who bought me to solve his curse. DAPHNE The dining hall was quieter than usual, but the tension in the air was suffocating. I had been summoned here by one of the maids....a formality, they said, as the Alpha wanted all members of the household present for a formal announcement.I tried to keep my head down as I entered, clutching the hem of my simple dress. The long table was already filled with pack members of importance.....Betas, advisors, and, of course, Fiona. She sat at the head of the table, her posture perfect, her gaze sharp as a blade. She was every bit the Luna elegant, composed, untouchable. As my eyes swept across the room, I realized that Alpha Enzo wasn’t there. My heart sank. I didn’t know why his absence bothered me so much, but it did. I didn’t have much time to dwell on it because the moment Fiona’s cold gaze landed on me, my skin prickled with unease.“Ah, the breeder decides to join us,” Fiona said, her voice sweet but laced with venom. The room fell silent. DAPHNE The moonlight spilled through the large windows of the Alpha’s study, casting a silvery glow on the polished wood floors. I had been summoned to bring him tea, though I suspected it was more of an excuse than a need. My heart raced as I approached the door, balancing the tray in trembling hands. I hated the effect he had on me, but it was something I couldn’t control. He hadn’t spoken to me much since that night, not beyond clipped instructions or curt acknowledgments. And yet, I caught him staring when he thought I wasn’t looking. It was a tug-of-war between his duty to Fiona and whatever it was that burned between us, a tension so palpable it left me breathless.I pushed the door open quietly and stepped inside. He was seated behind his large desk, his head bowed over a stack of papers, one hand resting against his temple. Even in this moment of stillness, his presence filled the room, commanding and unyielding.“Alpha,” I murmured, keeping my voice soft. His head snapped

He’d made his decision.“It’s the only way,” he had said, his voice calm and final, as though he were discussing strategy. “The pack needs an heir, Fiona. My mind was occupied with tasks ahead and staying out of everyone’s way. As always, I kept my head low, aware of the stares, the whispers, and most of all, the simmering tension in the air.But today felt different. Something was off. A heaviness I couldn't quite place seemed to settle over me as I passed by the study. Then, a voice cut through the silence, sending a chill down my spine.“Daphne.”I froze. The voice belonged to Fiona.I turned slowly, meeting her cold, piercing gaze. She was standing near the study door, arms crossed, a smirk playing on her lips. Her presence seemed to fill the space with a kind of suffocating arrogance. It was as if she could make the very air around her thick with her disdain.“What do you want?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.Fiona’s smile widened, her eyes narrowing in a look that made my stomach twist. “Oh

Enzo The office door closed behind me with a soft click as I settled into my chair. Fred, my Beta, sat across from me, his usual calm demeanor giving nothing away, though I knew he had a lot on his mind."Alpha, the rogues have been spotted near the border again," Fred began, sliding a folder across the table to me. "They seem to be gathering in numbers. They're not making any direct moves yet, but we should be prepared."I opened the folder and scanned the reports, my mind still half-occupied with everything that had happened over the last few days—Daphne, the kiss, the tension. The way she looked at me that night... The way her lips had felt against mine, so soft, so intoxicating."Mm," I muttered, trying to focus on Fred's words, pushing aside the stirring thoughts of her. "What do you suggest?"Fred's voice seemed to fade slightly as my thoughts wandered back to her. Daphne had this way of entering my mind without warning. Daphne I was walking through the pack house, my mind occupied with the usual tasks of the day. The house was bustling with activity, servants moving from one place to another, and the pack members going about their routines. It had become a rhythm I was starting to get used to, one I could rely on.My thoughts were on the upcoming meeting with Tobias, the pack doctor, to discuss a few minor issues about my health. Nothing serious, just routine. I had learned to appreciate these moments of normalcy in a place that often felt like a constant whirlwind of emotions and changes.I passed the kitchen, where the pack’s cook, a cheerful woman named Anna, waved me over. She was always so warm and kind, her smile contagious. I paused, giving her a brief nod as I returned her greeting. But as I turned to continue my walk down the hallway, I was suddenly yanked sideways. Her hair, wild and untamed from the night, spread across the pillow like a dark halo. I could feel her warmth beside me, her body curled into mine in a way that made everything inside me tighten with a strange mixture of possessiveness and longing. It hadn’t just been the physical connection last night, it was everything. The way she had looked at me, the vulnerability in her eyes when she whispered that she wanted me, the way we both lost ourselves in each other. DaphneThe fire crackled softly in the hearth, the warmth of the flames barely reaching the chill of the night air that lingered in the room. The soft glow illuminated the space, casting shadows that danced across the walls, but my focus was entirely on him.Enzo.I could feel the tension in the air, thick and electric, as he stood there, silent, watching me. His eyes were dark, almost predatory, and yet, there was something softer about the way he looked at me tonight. I’d never seen him this vulnerable before, not even in moments of quiet. His walls, which had always been so carefully constructed, were beginning to crack, and I could see the raw emotion behind them.It made my heart race, and I couldn’t look away. I should have felt scared. I should have run, pulled away from the heat between us. But I couldn’t. DaphneThe night was unusually quiet, the pack house bathed in soft moonlight. I found myself restless, unable to sleep, so I wandered outside, letting the cool breeze brush against my skin. The garden, with its blooming flowers and faintly glowing fireflies, had become my sanctuary, one of the few places I could breathe without feeling the weight of everyone’s expectations pressing down on me.I reached the edge of the garden where a secluded gazebo stood, its white wooden beams entwined with fragrant ivy. I hadn’t expected anyone to be there, but as I stepped closer, I froze.Alpha Enzo stood inside, leaning against one of the posts, his gaze fixed on the horizon. His usual stern demeanor seemed to have softened, his face illuminated by the silver light of the moon.I hesitated, unsure if I should interrupt him, but the creak of the wooden steps beneath my feet betrayed my presence. His head turned sharply, and for a moment, our eyes locked.“Couldn’t sleep?” he asked, his voice low

Enzo The door slammed shut behind me, Fiona’s sharp words still ringing in my ears. My jaw clenched as I strode down the hallway, my boots hitting the wooden floor with heavy thuds. This wasn’t the life I had envisioned. I had always known Fiona to be territorial, but the presence of Daphne had ignited something far worse. This was why I had resisted the idea of a breeder in the first place. A simple plan, an heir to break the curse and ensure the survival of my pack. No attachments, no emotions. But nothing was simple anymore.I turned a corner and froze. Tobias was standing near the staircase with Daphne. They were talking, their heads tilted toward each other, smiles tugging at their lips. Daphne’s delicate laughter floated through the air, soft yet vibrant, and for a moment, I was rooted to the spot.Jealousy surged through me like wildfire. The way Tobias looked at her, it was too familiar, too comfortable. And Daphne... She seemed happy. Not the subdued, cautious woman I had co

Daphne The hours after Enzo left the garden felt like a lifetime. The crash had sent a ripple of unease through the pack house, and though I didn’t know the source of the chaos, I could feel the tension thickening in the air.I lingered in the garden for as long as I could, hoping that the fresh air might calm my racing heart. But when the sun dipped below the horizon, and the cold began to seep into my bones, I reluctantly made my way back inside. The pack house was eerily quiet as I walked through the halls. Normally, I’d hear laughter or the low murmur of conversation, but tonight, there was nothing but the faint creak of the wooden floorboards beneath my feet.As I approached the staircase leading to my room, I heard voices drifting from the dining hall. Curious and more than a little apprehensive, I crept closer, careful to stay out of sight.“You’ve gone too far this time, Fiona,” Enzo’s voice growled, low and dangerous.“I’ve done nothing but protect this pack,” Fiona snapped

DaphneThe days had grown colder, and with them, the atmosphere in the pack house. The rogue’s words lingered like a curse over everyone, and while no one dared to speak openly about it, I could feel the weight of their suspicion.I tried to distract myself with small tasks, arranging the books in the library, helping in the kitchen, even wandering the gardens when no one was around but nothing could ease the knot in my chest. Every time I passed someone, their gaze lingered a second too long, and the whispers started before I was even out of earshot. It was Fiona, of course, who made her disapproval the loudest."Careful with the silverware, Daphne," she said one morning as I placed the polished knives on the dining table. Her tone was sweet, but her smile was sharp. "We wouldn’t want you to cut yourself. Or anyone else."My cheeks burned as the pack members sitting nearby chuckled under their breath. I wanted to snap back, to tell her to mind her own business, but I bit my tongue an
