CHAPTER 9: I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN
Isabella clenched her hands and gathered her courage; she wasn't going to deny that he was intimidating.
"Yes!" she said firmly.
Sebastián looked her up and down with disdain.
"You? A woman who goes to bed with a man she barely knows? Who told you that you're qualified to tell me how to raise my son?"
His words hurt her; he was calling her a prostitute, and she wasn't one.
"You don't know what exactly happened, I'm not what you think. Besides, I didn't kidnap your son. I..."
"No? Then why is my son with you? Tell me, what are you trying to do by getting close to my son?"
Sebastián moved closer and closer until Isabella's back hit the wall. It was inevitable that his eyes roamed over her, and to him, she was beautiful. Even though she seemed like a common woman who probably sold her body, she was still beautiful. He looked at her full and provocative lips, her green eyes, her dark lashes, her white and soft skin. And a faint memory of the previous night made him swallow hard. Even her scent captivated him; it was as if his body was familiar with her.
"I'll only give you this warning: don't come near me or my son again, understand? Stay away from him. Or else, face the consequences."
Just then, Sebastián's phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, his lips twisted into a grimace.
"What's up, Inesa?"
Inesa Phillips was the daughter of the second largest shareholder of the company. Sebastián Ashford was the only son of Rogert Ashford, who had founded a hotel company with his best friend that had grown into a global conglomerate with different brands.
"You need to come immediately," said the woman on the other end, her voice tinged with urgency. "This is serious."
"What's happening? Don't beat around the bush," Sebastián was starting to get annoyed. The pressure from the situation with Isabella and now this was pushing him to his limit.
"There's a video of you all over the internet... I don't know what happened, but it clearly shows you offending and humiliating your date. I think this has impacted our future contract with the UK. They seem very unsettled. What are we going to do?! You know this contract is vital for the company."
Sebastián's face paled upon hearing this.
"Understood, I'm on my way. Keep everything under control until I get there," he said before hanging up the phone.
He turned to Isabella, who was still leaning against the wall, watching him with a mix of confusion and concern. He moved closer and closer, and it was inevitable that his eyes roamed over her, and to him, she was beautiful.
"Don't forget my warning. I don't want to see you again," he said. "Don't push your luck."
Isabella watched him walk away, her lips pressed together in frustration.
"Arrogant bastard, who the hell does he think he is?" she murmured. "I don't want to see you again either, mister, whatever your name is."
She sighed deeply and was about to go back in to see her father when his attending doctor approached.
"How are you, Mrs. Becker?"
Isabella shuddered at hearing herself called that.
"Doctor Spencer, it's good to see you. I came to check on my father's condition."
The man nodded slightly and adjusted his glasses.
"Your father's condition remains delicate. The heart attack significantly affected his body, but what worries me the most is his constant concern for his company."
She lowered her head.
"Yes, for my father... it's not easy to have lost everything."
"That's why I recommend you talk to him; maybe if you convince him to do his part, he can recover faster."
"Yes, you can count on it. I... will do everything in my power to help my father get through this."
The doctor gave her a smile.
"I know you will."
Isabella took a deep breath and was about to enter when the doctor stopped her.
"Mrs. Becker... I'm sorry to say this, but... I've received information that the medical expenses have not been covered for several months..."
Isabella's face filled with embarrassment.
"I..."
"I'm aware of what happened with your businesses, but your husband..."
"He is no longer my husband!" she clarified. "I am no longer Mrs. Becker, so you can call me Isabella, but don't repeat that last name."
The doctor was taken by surprise.
"I understand, I'm sorry, I didn't know... however, the administration department is impatient about the delay. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but the overdue bills must be paid, otherwise..."
"Don't worry," she interrupted him, "I will pay the medical bills. I just want my father to continue his treatment."
The doctor nodded slightly.
"Alright, I truly hope you can get out of this situation, Miss Collins."
"Thank you."
The man gave her one last look and left. Isabella stood there, staring into space, but with one thing on her mind: she needed money, so she had to find a job.
After visiting her father, Isabella went to her only friend Lucy's house. The two had studied business administration together, and both had gotten married, only Lucy had been luckier.
"I'm sorry to bother you," she said, her face full of embarrassment.
"Hey, what bother? We're friends, besides, Patrick will be happy to see you. As soon as I told him you were staying for a few days, he was thrilled."
Isabella could barely smile; these were not the reasons she had hoped to see her friend again.
"So, are you going to talk? I know you're dying inside and believe me, it may sound cliché, but I told you so. That jerk Marcus never sat well with me."
"I know, I should have listened to you," Isabella paused, remembering her friend's warnings.
"Or accepted my cousin's love, I'm sure he would have made you happy."
"Please, stop, stop rubbing my mistakes in my face. Yes, I was stupid and careless, but now... now I just want to protect my father." Isabella's eyes, though filled with tears, also held determination. "I need a job, help me find a job."
Lucy pulled her into her arms and sighed.
"You know I will. We'll talk to Patrick, I'm sure he'll find something. Don't worry."
Half an hour later, Lucy hung up the phone with a smile.
"See? I told you Patrick would find something."
Isabella's eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Really? Does he have something for me?"
"Yes, he said his boss needs an assistant, and you're perfect for the job."
"Assistant?" Isabella paused, reflecting.
"Yes, you can start with that, and later on, you can aim for a better position."
"No, it's not that, it's just that... I don't know if I could..."
Lucy rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Isa, you need to drop that pessimistic attitude. If you want to beat that jerk Marcus, you need to show some toughness. Besides, having Sebastián Ashford as your boss could be beneficial, I'm telling you."
The name sounded somewhat familiar to Isabella.
"Sebastián Ashford?"
CHAPTER 10: MANIPULATED VIDEO"I expected some competition, but I see I was wrong... I don't waste time with people who can't even arrive on time for an appointment.""I apologize, Mr. Ashford, my daughter...""Save the drama. Apologies here are worth less than nothing. The world doesn't pause for losers who beg for another chance. Better find something more at your level, something less... ambitious.""Please, Mr. Ashford, I really need this job. I'll do anything...""'I'll do anything' isn't a quality, it's desperation. Try not to waste my time any further. Understand?"Sebastián slammed the phone down on the desk."Damn it!" he roared, his voice full of frustration. "That video is manipulated."Inesa, who was with him, stood up and approached."I know, you're not capable of doing something so vile. What I don't understand is why upload this video to the internet?" She took the phone and looked at the comments, shaking her head, worried. "They're not good, Sebastián. Everyone is cal
CHAPTER 11: I WANT HER TO BE MY MOMMY!Sebastián slowly opened the door and found his son with his back turned, peacefully asleep. He entered the room carefully, avoiding any noise that might wake him. As he watched Nicholas sleep, a wave of emotions washed over him. He felt guilty for being so hard on him, knowing that Nicholas longed for a mother figure in his life. However, the fear of both of them getting hurt if he allowed someone else into their lives paralyzed him.He gently sat down next to the bed and reached out to stroke his hair."I love you, son. You're the most important thing in my life," he whispered. He leaned in to kiss his forehead, and at that moment, Nicholas opened his eyes, surprising Sebastián."Dad?" the boy murmured, his eyes still clouded with sleep."Hey, champ," Sebastián responded. "Sorry for waking you.""Are you mad at me?" Nicholas's question was innocent and filled with worry."No, son, no... I wouldn't stay mad at you for too long."Sebastián forced
CHAPTER 12: JOB INTERVIEW"Are you sure I should wear this?" Isabella asked, looking at herself in the mirror with doubt."Of course! You're going to one of the most important companies in the country; you need to look perfect," said her friend enthusiastically, trying to cheer her up."I'm looking for a job, not a new husband," Isabella replied, her tone slightly annoyed.Lucy rolled her eyes and adjusted Isabella's hair into a ponytail, laughing lightly as she responded, "You never know, maybe it'll be your lucky day and you'll find a hottie who'll make you truly happy.""Yeah, right," Isabella grumbled. "I'm not interested in that right now. All I need is money, money to get my revenge." Isabella's voice hardened. The two looked at each other for a moment. Lucy felt pity for her friend, who had lost so much in such a short time."I really can't believe Marcus did something so dirty and cruel as selling your child," she said with a mix of disbelief and sadness.Isabella, with clench
CAPÍTULO 13: A KISS FULL OF DOMINANCE AND DESIREIsabella froze. Sebastián offered her a smile full of irony."I took the liberty of investigating you after you took my son, and..." he paused, seeing the panic and shame in Isabella's eyes. "Anyway, I know you're married, for six years now. Why are you lying?" he asked with a mix of accusation and curiosity.Mateo, completely surprised, interrupted."You took Nicholas? Why?""I'm not going to touch on that topic now, just be content knowing she did," Sebastián responded coldly.Mateo shook his head, visibly disappointed. "It's a shame, you're quite beautiful, but you have bad habits," he commented, looking at Isabella.Isabella shook her head and swallowed before speaking."First of all, I didn't take your son. I tried to explain it to you yesterday and, secondly, I'm no longer married. I just got divorced. I have nothing to do with that man you say is my husband." Her last words came out hard and cold. "I'm here because I need the job
CHAPTER 14: COMPLICATED SITUATIONIsabella struggled at first, but soon surrendered to Sebastián's kiss, responding and wrapping her arms around his neck, letting herself go. The two got lost in their own emotions, as if their bodies longed to be close to each other.Sebastián was in heaven, wanting more of the woman in his arms, but the situation abruptly changed when someone opened the door and cleared their throat. They quickly separated, and Isabella was filled with embarrassment upon seeing Mateo behind them with a serious look."Sorry for the interruption, but the other candidates are waiting. I got worried when you didn't come out; I should have known you'd be using your tactics, Sebastián.""No... it's not like that, what happened is that..." Isabella tried to explain, but Sebastián raised his hand and silenced her."Since when do you care how long the others wait? I don't remember you in the past..." His phone rang, interrupting his words. He frowned when he saw the call was
CHAPTER 15: GENETIC COMPATIBILITYSebastián nodded and followed the doctor, but Isabella couldn't stay behind. Since she found out Nicholas was sick, a kind of maternal instinct took over her, attributing it to the fact that she now knew she had a child.A child who was alive and somewhere, waiting to be found by her. Both entered the doctor's office."What does my son have?" Sebastián got straight to the point. The doctor looked at them for a moment, first at Sebastián and then at Isabella, before speaking."Nicholas has acute lymphoblastic leukemia," he said seriously.Sebastián furrowed his brows and shook his head, unable to accept what he was hearing."What is that?"The doctor sighed softly and spoke more clearly."Your son has leukemia, Mr. Ashford. And it's a very aggressive type of leukemia."The doctor's words hit Sebastián hard, his blue eyes staring intently, still unable to fully comprehend."Leukemia?" Isabella whispered, her voice barely audible."Yes, I'm afraid the li
CHAPTER 16: I ACCEPT YOUR PROPOSALBoth Isabella and Sebastián left the doctor's office, each lost in their thoughts. It was then that Sebastián, driven by desperation, asked a question that stopped Isabella in her tracks."How much?"Isabella stopped and looked at him, confused."How much?""Yes, how much do you want? How much are you worth to get pregnant and save my son?"The bluntness of his proposal left Isabella stunned, her eyes wide, surprised and horrified by the man's proposition in front of her."What the hell? You...?" she began to say, but Sebastián, lacking patience, interrupted her with a threatening and cold look."Don't play the prude with me, and certainly not the offended one. I'm proposing a deal, and it won't be for free; I'll pay you a lot of money. So tell me, how much do you want for selling me your womb?"Sebastián's words were harsh, almost cruel. Isabella opened and closed her lips, incredulous."You are...""What? A bastard? I am, I don't deny it. And right
CHAPTER 17: I WANT YOU TO MARRY ME"Leukemia?"Mateo stood up as soon as Sebastián told him this."Yes, unfortunately, my son has that damn disease."Sebastián's expression was one of helplessness. He had stayed all night with his son in the hospital, and today he would be discharged and return home; his mother would stay with him while he started the treatment."And what are you going to do?" Mateo asked cautiously. "Are you going to follow the doctor's instructions?"Sebastián turned around and looked at him seriously."Of course, I am. He said the most reliable option was to have a baby, and that's what I'll do."His friend raised his eyebrows upon hearing his determination."And the candidate is: Inesa?""What the hell are you talking about? I never said I would sleep with Inesa. She's not the right one for this.""Well, everyone knows she's in love with you, and I thought...""I'm going to have a child with Isabella," Sebastián blurted out quickly. "She accepted the deal."Mateo
