Sophia’s POV.
Beep. Beep. The gentle sound of the machine beside me forced me back to consciousness, and as my eyes fluttered open slowly, it landed on the ceiling and it took a while of glancing around the room before I realized I was in a hospital and the memories came rushing back. “…take her far away and kill her.” The words of Ray that had played out of the recording filled my head and I felt a sharp pain twist my chest like something had just pierced through it. Ray sold me off so he wouldn't pay me back and his intentions were to kill me. How? That man said he loved me, he said he was willing to do anything for me and wanted me to be the mother of his children. I had given him all my money, trusting him when he mentioned his mother was dying. I believed it when I saw a video of her critically sick in the hospital. That money was the only money my father had left after his company went bankrupt years ago. He had sacrificed that money so I could fulfill my dream of hosting an Art exhibition to showcase my talent. How could Ray do this to me? I had no idea when the tears began to roll down my cheeks, my throat ached as I cried in silence. “The stranger!” His strange presence hit me out of the blue. Him showing up at that time must mean something, it must have been Ray that sent him to save me. Ray must have asked him to bring me to the hospital. Maybe Ray didn’t really betray me, maybe he had no choice, maybe they threatened him into selling me off but he couldn’t do it and came back to save me. He knew they shouldn’t see his face so he sent someone else. Desperate to find a way to exonerate the man I loved from what happened because I couldn’t believe he could change in a twinkling of an eye and do that to me, I came up with all sorts of excuses in my head for him, even though the truth was gnawing away at me, I tried to ignore it as much as I could. “You’re awake.” A soft voice said beside me, startling me out of my thoughts. I turned and my eyes landed on the nurse, “Where is the man that brought me here?” I asked immediately but she shook her head and moved closer to me. “He left the moment he dropped you off. You don’t have to worry though, he has sorted everything out so you would be free to go as soon as you’re okay.” “What about Ray?” “Excuse me?” “Ray. You know, my boyfriend, he has blonde hair and…” “No one came for you after the gentleman that brought you here Miss. No one else.” She replied, shattering the little hope I had managed to gather. I requested for my phone and she brought it before she left to get the doctor. There was not even one text or missed call from Ray. How was that possible? If he had sent the man from earlier then he should at least try to check up on me to know if I am fine. Or maybe he asked the stranger and… What was I even saying? What if it is true that Ray actually wanted me dead? Then who was that man and how was his timing so perfect? I never got a chance to thank him and he just might be the only one that can tell me what really happened, if Ray truly sold me off. “Father! Oh my father would be worried sick,” I exclaimed as the thought of him crossed my mind, I put a call through to him. “Oh My God!” My father’s voice called out from the other end, “Sophia I was so worried that I almost…” he sighed in relief and I smiled weakly. My father was the light in my world and his ability to make me smile regardless of whatever was going on made me love having him around even more. “I am fine, father. Just got into a little bit of a sticky situation but I am sorting it out already. At the hospital close to your office.” I said to him, I could tell which hospital I was in by just looking out the window at the street. “What? What are you doing at a…” he yelled and just as I opened my mouth to assure him that I was fine, I noticed something move in front of me and I glanced up sharply to find the stranger from before. My heart skipped a beat and I slowly ended the call and let the phone drop from my ear to my side. His hat was gone this time, giving me a clear view of his dark hair and thick brows. His sharp green eyes were captivating so I couldn’t look away when he held my gaze. His muscles flexed underneath his shirt as he folded his arms across his chest and leaned against the wall. Regardless of how captivating he was physically, there was this dark, strange aura around him that creeped me out. As if he was the grim reaper coming for my soul or something. When he moved, his shirt opened up a little and I noticed the tattoo of a hawk on his chest. “Thank you.” I managed to mumble, suddenly realizing that I had been staring at him and salivating for way too long. I forced myself to swallow and tried to concentrate on what had happened. “Thank you for saving me but I need to know if Ray sent you? I don’t believe what those guys said about him and I don’t believe Ray would do something like that to me. He cares about me too much to do that.” A dark chuckle slipped from him before he pushed himself away from the wall and stepped closer to my bed, “You think I saved you?” He asked with an expression on his face that I couldn’t read, “I didn’t save you Sophia, I would never save you nor would your little boyfriend. Whatever the men told you about him is the truth. The man you have known all your life is someone I bet you don’t wanna know about. Being with him for three years as I have learned, I can commend you really ate with a devil… Fuck, I really want you because of that but,” He paused and held my eyes before he continued, “I am simply here to collect you as the collateral that was promised. It’s been over a month and he has failed to pay back. I mean, I couldn’t let those men harm you.” I had no idea when he moved away from the wall until he grabbed my chin and turned my face sideways as if he was examining me. “You would fetch me a whole lot of money anyways so I don’t care if he pays up or not.” He added with a grin and I felt a chill race down my spine. My eyes widened in shock because his face was so close to mine that I could barely breathe or think straight. His heavy, musky scent was intoxicating and filled my head almost immediately. “W-What is this about? What collateral?” I managed to ask. “Listen Sophia, I know you’re pretending not to know about this and I don’t have time to waste. I am someone you don’t want to cross paths with but when you do, things don’t end well for you.” He growled. “But I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I protested, not sure if this was the time to be brave or at least pretend to be. “You’re saying you don’t remember agreeing to be his collateral? You don’t remember signing the papers and you don’t remember speaking to me on the phone and even agreeing again?” “Be whose collateral?” I asked, exasperatedly and with my brows furrowed. “Ray’s.” At the mention of that name, it felt like something shattered inside of me and the entire world around me faded away, leaving me alone with the stranger that had just mentioned his name. I was Ray’s collateral? “He took a loan of five hundred thousand dollars and you agreed to become my property if he doesn’t pay up. I have your signature and thumb prints on the papers just in case you try to wriggle your way out of this.” He said with a wide smile on his face as if he was enjoying whatever this was. I had no idea what else to do than to burst out laughing but it was obvious that I was freaking nervous due to how his intimidating posture towered above me. Nothing he was saying made sense to me. What was he talking about? I never agreed to be anyone’s collateral. Ray never even mentioned he was taking out any loan, he wanted to before but I ended up borrowing him my own money instead. “I sincerely have no idea what you’re talking about. How can I agree to be a collateral to a loan I don’t know about? It makes no sense at all. Maybe you have me mistaken for someone else.” He didn’t say a word, he simply brought out some papers from behind me that I had not noticed until that very moment. He pulled it open and turned it towards me, a gasp slipped from me when I saw my signature right underneath where my name was written boldly on top and the word, “Collateral” written in front of it. A fingerprint was even on it and it had been stamped… That was impossible! How was my signature on that document? My heart began to race as I grabbed the document from him and got a good look at it. A gasp slipped from me when it hit me. I had seen these papers before but where? I racked my memories for it and like a truck slamming into me, it hit me. That day, Ray asked me to help him sign and stamp my fingerprints on papers he had said was for a contract he got which he used me as one of his surety to gain the trust of the man that had given it to him. Ray had taken me to the office of the man he had mentioned who was also helping him fund the contract and I agreed to meet and talk with him because Ray made me believe the man wanted a serious minded person in a serious relationship. It felt good to know he thought of me as a serious relationship so I went as far as talking on phone with someone I thought was the man I met with Ray who asked if I was willing to be his collateral and I said yes. The man never mentioned anything about a loan to me and I wasn’t suspicious of anything since I had met with him and saw the contract but now it dawned on me that I had been manipulated and deceived. I trusted Ray and didn’t read through the documents I signed. It happened two months after I had lent him my money he made away with. My breath became labored and it suddenly felt like the room was spinning around me. Ray had done the worst to me, from taking all my money to signing me away to a stranger and not only that, he had also given the go ahead for some men to kill me. The back of my eyes stung as I stared up at the stranger who was there to collect me as a collateral for something I was tricked into by a man I dated for three years and loved with all my heart. How could he be capable of doing all that to me? “Please…you have to help me here. I had no idea what happened. I was tricked into this,” I pleaded with the stranger as tears rolled down my cheeks. “I..I didn’t know it was a loan.” I struggled to speak but the lump in my throat seemed to spread rapidly, making it even more painful and impossible to talk clearly. “You have two options, either pay me back the five hundred thousand dollars he borrowed or get ready to become one of my properties. Either way, I get my money back.” The stranger growled and I didn’t think twice before agreeing to it. I had no idea where or how I was supposed to get the money but it was better than becoming an item for him to display and sell. “I will definitely pay, just give me a few weeks and the money should be ready.” “It had better be.” He replied sharply before he turned and walked out of the room. I collapsed back on the bed, trying so hard to steady my breath while thinking at the same time of a way to come up with such an amount of money within such a short period of time. It was impossible and I was so helpless that all I could do at that moment was cry. At that moment, my father rushed in and the sight of him made the tears roll down my cheeks in heavy torrents. What was I going to do? “Sophy, I saw a man leaving your ward, who is he? He doesn’t seem like he is a gentleman,” my father said, panic evident in his eyes. “Oh, that man. He is no one. He only saved me and I thanked him and he is gone,” I said trying to wipe my tears off but instead broke out crying bitterly. My father consoled me after informing me that he heard about Ray leaving the country. Father was aware I borrowed all my money from Ray and tried not to make me feel sad but I was more than sad, I was petrified. I was scared of what the stranger would do to me if I didn’t pay back. The money I lent Ray was the money for my exhibition, I thought he was going to pay it back but now that things had changed, I might never be able to hold that exhibition and father knew that. “I will make sure I get the money to make your exhibition a success.” He said reassuringly, as if he read my mind. “And how do you intend to do that, dad? I know you don’t have any money and also anyone to reach out for help.” “Trust me, Sophia. I will do anything in my power to fulfill your long awaited dream.” He whispered as he pulled me into his embrace. For a second, I felt relieved, hoping the money I will make from my upcoming exhibition will be enough to pay back the stranger. It had better be or else…Sophia’s POV.“I must say Sophia, you surpassed my expectations and this exhibition is the best I have seen so far. I would be making a donation at the end of the day to support you and if you don’t mind, my company would like to market some of your art pieces.” One of the men father invited said to me and a wide smile appeared on my face as I thanked him profusely. It’s been two whole weeks since the incident with the stranger and Ray’s disappearance. I had filed a report at the station and they said they would handle it but there was no development on the case and I knew better than to bank on the police to save me from the stranger.“I am someone you don’t want to cross paths with but when you do, it doesn’t end well for you.”Those words were my driving force over the weeks. I needed to raise his money and the only way to stand a chance was the exhibition. Father surpassed my expectations, I had no idea how he had managed to put together all the funds we needed but he did and sim
Sophia’s POV.My hands trembled as sweat dropped from my face to the floor even in the cold. I was trembling like a leaf in the wind and my heart was beating out of control.“I didn’t steal anything Sophia. I swear it, I simply borrowed the money and I was going to pay back after the auction was over. You can ask the…”“Keep quiet or I will make you do so.” The stranger threatened and father swallowed hard but didn’t keep quiet. He kept mumbling that he was innocent but no one was listening to him other than me.Every single one of the guests at the auction were now standing outside with their phones out and their cameras flashing. I could tell they were taking pictures and recording videos of the embarrassing situation my father was in. I could imagine the horrific headlines the blogs would use about my father at dawn. After the scandal that had happened the last time that caused father to lose his company and everything he owed other than the house we were currently living in, he wa
Sophia's POV.The air around me grew thick with tension. My breath hitched, chills creeping down my spine with each passing second. He tilted his head, his lips still inching closer to mine."Sophia..." The way he said my name sent twists of nerves to my stomach. "I have no time to waste."His words snapped me out of the trance I'd fallen into, and I pushed his hand off my chin."I guess you aren't ready to do anything, afterall," He said, his voice hoarse and laced with irritation."No!" I blurted. "I mean that I'm..."I trailed off, thinking about his request. He just wanted me to show him affection, right? I doubted someone as heartless as him could ever fall in love. This was just about seducing a man who was romantically deprived, nothing more. I'd seen plenty of romantic movies and imagined countless passionate scene, I also had some experience too. I could use that to pull this off.Though I'd never seduced anyone before, I could perfect the task if it meant saving my father.
Sophia's POV."You're pretty tricky, little Sophia..." He said, smirking as he looked down at me. "But not tricky enough for me.'I shot him a glare. He was always a contradiction, saying one thing and doing another. "Don't glare at me."His grip tightened around my neck, and a soft, yet startled sound escaped my lips."ah!"He scoffed, releasing me. "Tch." He slipped off me and walked away.My hand flew to my neck, rubbing at the place his fingers had pressed as if to erase the feeling. The door creaked open as he moved to leave.I sat up quickly, my eyes widening. "Where are you going?" I asked, a bit too sharply. He didn't answer. He just walked out, leaving the door to swing shut behind him. I stood, ready to go after him, but changed my mind at the last moment."Damn it!" I muttered, stomping my feet. "My best chance to seduce this man has just been completely ruined.""Why did he even stop me?" I whispered to myself, frowning. "I thought men liked these things. Why is he pret
Alessandro's POV."Of course, my body had to betray me at the worst possible moment. Great timing,"I thought, sarcastically."I guess you're a bit easier than you—"Her words snapped something in me. My cock instantly deflated, and I shoved her hand off my thigh. She looked stunned, fear in her widening eyes. A reaction I was all too familiar with. People around me always feared me, no one ever treated me differently. But I had to admit, her boldness this morning surprised me. She came off as a fiesty little vixen, but her attempts to seduce me where as weak as the others who had tried. I almost wanted to break her for it. "Easier, huh?" I growled, hovering swiftly over her.She gasped and closed her eyes, trembling. "Please don't hurt me," She whispered, her lips quivering.I gazed down at her, gritting my teeth. A part of me wanted to make her pay for her stupid remark, and misplaced confidence, but I held back. With a huff, I pulled away and went to the elevator, pressing the bu
Sophia's POV."What?" I gasped, gazing at him in confusion. "Just moments ago, you flung my hands off you. Why do you want me to stay in your room?""Like I said earlier, I do whatever I want," He uttered, his voice firm. "So, are you coming to my room or not? The offer runs out in 1,2...""Okay!" I agreed. "I'll stay in your room tonight."I couldn't let another chance to seduce him slip away.Without a word, he stood from where he was and walked past me.My heart pounded in my chest as I trailed him. His room was right next to my new one. My eyes stayed glued on his broad back as we entered.I couldn't stop thinking about what he had said earlier. Being alone with him felt more scary now that I knew his identity, but I had no choice.I had to do everything I could; 60 days would run out faster than I imagined. "Are you going to keep standing there?" He questioned, snapping me out of my thoughts."Huh?" I looked up at him.It was then I noticed how the room reflected the exterior o
Sophia's POV.His burning gaze was fixed on me, and every part of me yearned for him. I wanted to touch him again.Slowly, I walked toward him and my hand reached for his abs. But before I could feel them again, he snatched my wrist."You're still doing this the wrong way," He said, returning my hand to my side. "Just leave my room."My face flushed, and a wave of embarrassment hit me hard."You want me to leave?" I gasped, my eyes slowly stinging with tears."Yes, just get out." He spat, clearly irritated. "I told you that you are messing this seduction thing up, but you've only made it worse. I don't want to see you right now."I didn't know how to feel. Was it anger, disappointment, sadness? I couldn't tell."Father, I'm sorry for failing." I though, grabbing my dress from the floor."I don't know what you want anymore." I muttered while slipping the dress on. "You're just being unnecessarily difficult and ridiculous!"Before he could respond angrily, I hurried out of his room and
Alessandro's POV."Where is the file?" I asked over the phone as I stepped into the study."It's on your desk, Boss." He replied before I hung up.I sauntered over to my chair and sank into it, staring at the pile of different files scattered on my desk. "What file is this idiot talking about?" I muttered, irritation lacing my voice. "He's lucky he's not here right now, or I'd put a fucking bullet in his head. Couldn't he at least set the file aside?"The urge to fling all the papers off my table gripped me, but I took a deep breath to control my anger."Now, I have to go through every one of them," I growled, grabbing the nearest file. The files contained the account details of my money and those that owed me. I never trusted any of my men with my drugs or my cash. I always had to check things myself. "There's been a great rise in profits this month," I noted, a smirk spreading across my lips. "The Santos have been purchasing more of my goods. Good clients. They've practically rep
Author's POV. Laura was in one of the guest rooms, laying on the bed while scrolling through her phone. After her conversation with Alessandro, she nonchalantly began watching internet videos. She wasn't bothered about anything because Alessandro would never hurt her. He had always had this soft spot for her, and she was going to take full advantage of it. As she kept watching the videos, the door to the guest room suddenly opened. She looked away from her phone and saw Mary. "Oh God, what is this old hag doing here again?"Laura muttered, rolling her eyes. "What did you just call me?" Mary demanded, looking extremely offended. "I called you an old hag and I'm sure you heard me properly. You all should stop making me repeat myself constantly. It's getting annoying, $She snapped, glaring at Mary. Mary clenched her fists and walked angrily to her. She clambered on the bed and grabbed Laura's hair. Without hesitation, Laura dropped her phone aside and grabbed Mary's hair as well.
Author's POV. Alessandro stood in a warehouse with one of his men tied to a chair, bleeding from almost every part of his body. Alessandro was visibly angry, pointing a knife at him. "If you do not want me to end you, you will tell me the truth. I'm trying to settle things and remove every parasite in my business before I move on. You know a lot of things that is going to help me in doing that, so you better start talking!" Alessandro growled. "I don't know," He cried. "I am innocent. I have told you the truth boss. I don't know anything about the secret gang." Alessandro gritted his teeth in anger. He had been with Frank for the past two hours, and Frank had been so adamant to speak up. Despite how much he had threatened Frank with his family, he had refused to say the truth. "Frank, I'm not going to repeat myself. What do you know about the secret group that has been trafficking women, embezzling my money, and selling my drugs without permission?" Alessandro sneered."Sir, I'm
Author's POV. After blocking him, she switched off her phone and kept it in the pocket of her jean trouser. She stepped out of the elevator and dragged her suitcase to the sitting room.Laura was still there, leaning against the couch as if waiting for her. They exchanged a few glares before Sophia headed to the door without a word. Suddenly Laura called her name, causing her steps to come to a halt. Sophia turned to her with an irritated expression. "What do you want from me? I'm leaving. Isn't this what you want?" Sophia spat angrily. "Yes, you are doing exactly what I want," Laura grinned, happy that Sophia was so easy to fool."I want that pendant on your neck," Laura demanded, extending her hand. "Pendant?" Sophia gasped, reaching for the pendant on her neck. She was angry at Alessandro but couldn't give this to someone else."What do you want it for?" Sophia demanded. "I want it because I'm sure Alessandro gave it to you, and you do not deserve anything from him. I'm his
Author's POV. Sophia felt astounded and confused. Why was Alessandro's friend calling herself his fiancée? It made absolutely no sense. "What do you mean by that? Alessandro only mentioned you as his childhood friend and that you'll help him in starting up a company. He never mentioned that there was anything other than a cordial relationship between both of you," Sophia said, trying to stay calm. "Who the fuck are you anyways to question whether we have a cordial or romantic relationship? Are you a whore who doesn't know her place?" Laura questioned, staring disgustingly at Sophia. Sophia was deeply insulted by her words. How could Alessandro keep her identity from Laura? "Who are you? If you can't answer my question then I want you out of this mansion!" Laura yelled, pulling her back to reality. "I'm his girlfriend!" Sophia snapped back. "Girlfriend? Are you delusional or what?" Laura spat, her gaze boring at Sophia. She scrutinized her intently and noticed the pendant on he
Sophia's POV. I continued twirling my tongue around his cock, making him release more moans. "Go faster!" Alessandro commanded, pulling my hair harder.I went faster, sucking him more relentlessly. My tongue twirled around it as my life depended on it, and my hands moved more rapidly around his thickness, caressing it."Yes, good...so good!!!" He laughed. His cock began swelling in my mouth as he was getting to his edge. I whimpered as my tongue swirled more mercilessly around his shaft. He released a primal moan and came straight into my mouth. I thought of spitting out his cum once it entered, but it tasted a bit better than I thought. I slowly pulled his cock from my mouth and gulped it.Some of his cum splashed on my face, and I wiped every bit of it and put the droplets in my mouth."Does it taste that good?" Alessandro asked, his voice deeper than the sea."It tastes better than I anticipated," I grinned, moving up to him and bringing my lips closer to his."Do you want a tast
Sophia's POV.Despite how Alessandro reacted to my suggestion, I still felt that he was hurt and was simply pretending, so I wouldn't get her. Although I was in his arms, enjoying his warmth, I could feel his troubled breaths.I shouldn't have let my emotions influence my reasoning. I had just let my father achieve his aim. I knew something broke in Alessandro tonight, and it was my fault. Why did I have to ruin the great time we had with my father's influence? Why couldn't I just—"Birdie, you should sleep already," He whispered, wrapping his arms a bit tighter around me. "I told you that I'm not upset with you."I didn't want him to get more worried so I just kept silent and pretended to be asleep. I felt him slowly pull himself from me, making my head slip onto the pillow. I could sense that he was looking down at me but I didn't move an inch. "She's asleep, that's great," He whispered, covering me up with the duvet. He sighed loudly and slipped out of the bed, leaving me there.
Author's POV. "What?" Alessandro gasped, looking baffled. He didn't understand why she was making such a request. He knew she wasn't in approval of his mode of making money, but he never expected her to just make such a demand. "Sophia, I don't understand," He shook his head. Sophia couldn't hold back anymore, "I just want to have a normal life. A life where we can walk through the park without guards hovering or tailing us every time. I want people to know that you are mine.I'm tired of always looking over my shoulder, wondering whether someone is going to kill me or you. I want us to live in a world without issues,""That world doesn't exist, birdie," he countered, his voice firm yet gentle."Yes, it does," Sophia asserted, more tears slipping down her cheeks. She moved close to him and cupped his face in her hands."People around the world are living without so much apprehension. I know that this seems very sudden, but I can't keep living this way," She confessed, her heart sin
Sophia's POV."What?" I gasped, utterly defeated. What was happening to my father? Had he just lost his sense of reasoning or was this a toxic trait I hadn't noticed in the past? How could he ask me to pick between him and Alessandro? Why couldn't I just have both of them in my life? Why was he so insistent on ruining our relationship."Father..." my voice cracked. "This is totally absurd and I won't stand for it. I'm going to my old room right now, and I don't want to disturbed. I'll stay there until this is healed."As I turned my back on him, he barked, "You have to make a choice Sophia. You're my princess, my art queen, not some sex toy he could play with!"I slowly turned to him, clearly fed up with his tantrums."I'm not Alessandro's sex toy. I'm the woman he loves, his girlfriend," I asserted. "In the past if you had made this demand, I would have chosen you. But after this..."I trailed off, touching my face."I don't think so!" I spat, glaring at him. "You aren't even remorse
Sophia's POV.I stood there staring at my father in utter disbelief. I was wondering if this was a nightmare or something else. The father I loved would never lay his hands on me. I was so shocked that he just slapped me without showing any remorse. He was acting like it was his right to hurt me because I was in love with someone who supposedly ruined our lives. But he should know that Alessandro did not ruin our lives. We were the ones that got involved indirectly with him. Ryan was the one who damaged everything. If he hadn't deceived me, then Father wouldn't have helped me by taking that loan. We would have been happy and free by now. Alessandro did not cause this. He was just doing what anyone who was being owed would do. It was business. I wished my father could understand this but right now, I couldn't stand the sight of him."I don't know what that bastard has done to you. Maybe he has given you one of his drugs that has unfortunately damaged your brain," Father accused, h
