CRUEL TO ME

My brows arched in disbelief and I really did hope it was not what I thought they were discussing. I was heartbroken and shattered by what I had heard them say. Did they really know what had happened? Did they have an hand in it? There was possibly no way that could happen.

There was an inner conflict in my heart for a couple of minutes.

A sudden grip on my shoulder made me shiver, bringing me back to life immediately. I had been lost in my thoughts.

“What are you doing here?” Roman questioned, his voice barely a whisper. He looked around suspiciously to be sure no one was looking at us. Relief washed through me at the realization that he was the one there and not someone else.

“You were right…” I croaked, lowering my head in shame and defeat. I felt so stupid and used once again . Why was everyone against me? Why was everyone betraying me?
