Chapter: Chapter 5
Elena stared at the door as Adrian’s voice came in again, low and unyielding. “Elena, Open the door.”She begged the ground to open up and swallow her, she didn't want to face him, not yet. She contemplated hiding under her blanket and forgetting any of this ever happened. But she knew Adrian so well not to let things slide. Hesitantly, she walked over to the door, gripping the knob tightly before opening it. Adrain stood there, his tall frame blocking the dim light in the hallway. His dark eyes stared at hers for a moment.“May I come in?” he asked, his voice dangerously calm. She nodded silently, stepping aside for him. Adrian entered the room, his presence commanding, and closed the door behind him. He didn’t sit. Instead, he remained standing near the window, his back to her as he stared out at the glittering city skyline.“Elena,” he began after a long pause, his tone measured, “what exactly were you looking for in my office?”“I wasn’t looking for anything,” she said quickly,

Chapter: Chapter 4
Elena freshened up, picking a pink sundress from her closet. She threw her big curly black hair into a slick back bun and applied light makeup. To say she was beautiful was an understatement. She decided to walk around the penthouse and get familiar with her new surrounding as she was tired of staying inside all morning. Walking out the room, she noticed that no personal picture hung on the wall, all were framed artworks by famous artists. There was no family portrait, not even of Adrian. She found it weird as her mind raced to all the possible reasons why that could be. ‘Maybe he wasn’t loved at home growing up’ she thought to herself. Explains a lot about his cold arrogant attitude. She passed by a plain black door at the end of the hallway. Compared to the grand designs on all the doors she had seen so far, this one was plain black and sealed off by a heavy padlock with a ‘keep out’ sign. Curiosity surged through her veins as she wondered what could be hidden behind the door.“

Chapter: Chapter 3
The first morning in Adrian’s penthouse felt colder than any winter season Elena had experienced. The silence of the place was suffocating. She adjusted herself on the bed, pulling the duvet over her head to keep herself from freezing over. ‘Maybe purchasing only these skimpy nightwear was not such a good idea’ she thought to herself. She had always loved skimpy outfits, wearing them all the time in her father’s house which earned flirty eyes and remarks from her father’s men. Although she never bothered replying to them, she had always secretly enjoyed the attention it brought to her. She knew deep down that her daddy issues made her enjoy seeking validation from men, and always seized every opportunity to have their attention on her. Her mind wandered to her father, she hoped he was happy where he was right now. She tried to convince herself that sacrificing her freedom would cause him to live a better life. She did not have time to ponder on her new life as a prisoner, as she

Chapter: Chapter 2
The wedding seemed more like a business meeting than a ceremony to Elena. Elena stood at the entrance of the grand cathedral, waiting for it to open up, leading her straight to the altar where her so-called-groom stood. Her hands clutching onto the bouquet so tightly her knuckles might have appeared pale. The weight of the lace gown felt suffocating but not as suffocating as what she was about to enter. Soft music could be heard playing inside, as the grand door opened up. She was immediately bombarded with flashes of camera from the press. Guests filled the church murmuring behind their mask of polite smiles. Every single one of them was someone of importance. CEO’s, politicians, socialistes. People who clearly seem to matter to the Adrian Cross empire. To them, she wasn’t a bride, she was a spectacle. There she stood at the entrance trying to regain consciousness and get this whole thing over with. There was nothing she could do at this point, she knew even if she tried to run,

Chapter: Chapter 1
Elena Rivera clutches into the doorknob of her father’s office, her heart pounding heavily against her chest and she barged into the room.“How could you do this to me father?,” She demanded as she marched up straight to his study table, her voice cracking between disbelief and anger, but she refused to back down. Her father, Aaron Rivera didn’t acknowledge her presence. He sat behind is luxury leather table, the same table he uses in sealing big business deals and entwined his fingers together. His grey hair and under eye bags should have made him look vulnerable ,but his usual nonchalant unyielding expression hide any sign of weakness. “This decision is not up for debate, Elena,” he said flatly. His voice carried the same tone he used when dismissing waitstaff or negotiating a deal. Cold. Calculated. Final.Elena scoffed and took a shaky step forward, her hands balling into fists at her sides. “Not up for debate? You are practically selling me off like I’m some kind of… of proper

Chapter: Prologue
The room was dark, illuminated only by the soft glow of the full moon streaming through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows into the penthouse. The distant hum of the bustling city and night traffic below seemed a world away, a stark contrast to the silence between them. Elena’s breath hitched as she felt the heat of his body pressed against hers. The sharp scent of whiskey and power surrounding her like an intoxicating invisible cage. “You’re trembling, cookie.” Adrian murmured, his voice low and smooth, each words that left his mouth where laced with an unspoken challenge to them. His lips brushed silently against her earlobe, the touch sent an intense shiver down her spine settling in her groin. Her back was pinned against the cold surface of the wall as she raised her hand to his chest, her fingers curling into the smooth fabric of his perfectly tailored suit. The steady heartbeat of his heart was maddeningly calm against her touch, a dangerous reminder of how unaffected he was.
