When Wisdom was a young girl, the Alpha of her pack ordered her not to shift, and she wasn't allowed to train. Her parents wouldn't tell her why, which concerned her and her best friend, Deshal.
Wisdom's mate turned out to be Beauden Ralston, the future Alpha of the Fierce Growlers, where Wisdom is his father's assistant. Beauden doesn't want a mate and promises to reject her when he finds her. The night he went to reject Wisdom didn't go as he expected. That night turned out to be the worst night in both of their lives.
The following day Wisdom disappears after telling her best friend about her night with her mate. Deshal can't is furious and wants to kill the future Alpha. But he had promised her he wouldn't do anything, that's the only reason she told him.
Beauden couldn't believe Wisdom had left. He tried to go on with his left but couldn't get his mate off his mind, and his wolf wasn't happy about it. Beauden searches for her in vain.
