Chapter: Chapter Thirty-Five - They Were FreeIt was a week and a half later, but Amara did manage to see Declan again. She'd been cooperative, enough. More than usual, actually. Because she didn't have the energy to fight as much. Or the will. Oh, she wanted to. But the fire behind it all was losing strength. That was probably the real reason Lucas was allowing her to see Declan; she was hardly even dancing lately.Declan was cooking now. Her stomach still churned at the thought of food, but she could deal with it to see Declan. And cooking was a way he dealt with stress, with life, with anything. If she could see him smile again, that would help her.She was escorted to a door to the kitchen, and allowed to open it herself. Declan was on his own, and didn't even notice anyone else existed. He had things on a stove, things on a chopping board, probably had some things scattered in places he'd forgotten about for the moment. And he had a spoon, was singing to it off-key as he danced between his work stations. Anyone else there wo

Chapter: Chapter thirty-four - Knock knockDeclan sat in the chair, eyes closed, shaking. Nyxen had asked a question. Something about how he was feeling, how the evening went the previous night. In one word, horrible. Declan couldn't even stand to think about it, though his nightmares had been about the marriage night with Serenius. Declan shuddered and clenched his fists. Nyxen could read body language. Therefore, Declan let his actions speak louder than words ever could.Nyxen was quiet for a bit, maybe writing. "Was there anything positive you can think of? Even just one thing?""Amara looked absolutely stunning. Dupont was there. The food was delightful. I had gorgeous clothes on, so soft. I was able to dance. I got to help Amara get ready. I got a head massage." Declan opened his eyes and looked up at Nyxen, slowly unclenching his fists.Nyxen nodded encouragingly. "Good, that's quite a few things. Why were they good for you?""Amara sparkled. I didn't think that was possible in here. That was wonderful to see. Dancing, w

Chapter: Chapter Thirty-three - Dancing. Lucas. Declan. Serenius.Amara woke up, on her bed, hearing a soothing tone of baladi music in the background. Relaxing. What? She had been angry... And she was sore—Dancing. Lucas. Declan. Serenius.Anger flaring, she jolted upright."Careful. The dosage my father gave you may have been off. You could be dizzy." Aurora."Yeah, really?" she snarked. Aurora. Amara did feel dizzy but she swung her legs over anyway, not about to stay down.Aurora sighed. "Your funeral. There's a thermos of hot chocolate for you."Amara scoffed at her and stood, and instantly fell to the ground, swearing."Do you want help?"She didn't have time for this. She exclaimed and kicked out, somehow not hitting anything. She exhaled irately. "Where."Aurora sighed and knelt in front of her on one knee, hand held out. "C'mon. Up you get. Back on the bed. I'll bring it over."Amara took her hand and pulled herself up, standing with the soreness which woke her more, but did not help the dizziness. She scowled. "Where is he?" she got out t

Chapter: Chapter Thirty-two - Damn SereniusAmara had socialized and avoided the food, even though it looked amazing, but she did not avoid a bit of dancing here and there. It was wonderful, and the only thing really missing was Declan. Who should be there and was and she knew it. And she wanted to see him. And not. But not— She did. And she missed him and she didn't want to think about things— It was fine. She breathed out. Really, as soon as she actually saw him, it would be fine."Nienie!" Arms wrapped around her, warm arms, young arms, tight and muscled, attached to a young, fit torso and a voice that made her [body plus verb]. Declan. "Nienie," Declan whispered, voice terse, likely at breaking point and trying not to because they were in a room full of villains. She relaxed into his arms anyway. "Declan." She moved her head back and rested it against him, realizing that even without seeing him he could comfort her, help her. He was amazing and wonderful and she had missed him."You're alive. I-I missed you."She grinned ag

Chapter: Chapter Thirty-one - children in a fairylandEventually, Lucas came and escorted Amara to the ballroom. She was in a good enough mood that she almost didn't mind. She could certainly pretend it was a fine time, though. She entered the ballroom, smiling, and immediately was set upon by Lucas introducing her to scores of famous people. Dancers, actors, actresses... some of them she only knew from magazines, some she knew from movies or shows. Some she knew had been in various theaters. She never expected to ever even see them in real life though, let alone meet them.Lucas continued the introductions for a short time, and then left her on her own. She started to panic a little, but the people were very friendly, and those who weren't didn't stick around to sour the mood. After at least a half hour or more of this, her head was reeling. She loved it, but it was a lot. Laughing, wishing she had something for autographs, wishing she knew where Declan was... but knowing he was there, probably meeting actors and maybe even chefs. Amara

Chapter: Chapter Thirty - It's overThe time for the ball had finally, finally, come. Amara hated the fact that Lucas was willing and able to flaunt his power like this... but it was a chance to see other people. Possibly a chance to escape. Although, she didn't want a repeat of what had happened with Milo... She hoped he was recovering alright.Maybe it would be better to just play along and participate in the stupid flaunting Lucas wanted, and maybe he would be more lenient later. Either way, he hadn't asked her to choreograph another piece; that was one less pressure to worry about. Since Declan would be there, she could focus on him, simply dance in the moment, talk with people... forget that she was trapped for at least a short time.Knocking came at her door. "Amara!" Declan. "Amara Amara Amara Amara! The door's open, just open it! Amara!"She was at the door, but hesitated taking the handle. It was always locked, and sometimes shock-enabled. But Declan's voice spurred her to take it, and miraculously it was safe.

Chapter: EPILOGUEEight years later...Lillian was alone in her suite's bathroom. She was taking a shower and was inert to what was going on outside those walls. Her eyes were closed, the warm water fell on her body and she made a delicious caress until she rolled over all her curves and melted to the ground. She was distracted but even so, she managed to hear the bathroom door open and then close. Knowing perfectly who she was, since she rarely managed to take a shower alone on a Saturday morning, she smiled. Two firm hands touched her waist then moved up until each touched each of her breasts. She sighed, hands going down to her waist again to finally turn her roughly."I was really waiting for you. "She said with a smile on her lips, Adam shared the same smile, but in her eyes, a desire shone that not even the years were able to erase and his hard member rubbing close to her intimacy was also a strong indication."So I'm glad I didn't take long. "He said before attacking her lips.Saturday mornings

Chapter: Chapter Seventy-five - Adam is leavingLillian woke up lower than the other days, barely able to sleep at night. It was the day of Adam's final trip, so it wasn't a good day for her. Despite having broken up, the two were talking normally and spent the previous day together for Adam to enjoy some time with the twins before going and not seeing them for weeks. It was as painful for her as it was for him to know that he would go a while without hearing the sweet sound of each of their perfect laughs, even if Lillian recorded everything, it wouldn't be the same.Lillian had definitely moved to Geneva's house a little over two weeks ago, the brunette hadn't been kicked out of her in"laws' house but she felt like an intruder being there without having another commitment to Adam, she even wished she had left there before, but ended up staying longer than expected. It was Saturday and Geneva was off that day, she went through the hall where the room she had made available for Lillian and the twins and knocked before entering."Ho

Chapter: Chapter seventy-four - I don't like it when you cryThe days passed and the weight of the young couple's decisions was haunting them more and more. Adam carried the weight of having hidden something so important from his girlfriend and now having to put up with her passing him around the house and not even looking her in the eye. He then realized that he preferred Lillian extremely irritated with him to indifferent. She was dealing with the decision to let him go and not go after him, to see the great love of her life with whom she will have an eternal connection "not necessarily for the children" leave and not be able to go with him, to see the person who loves most in the world to go far away.Ignoring Adam in the halls of that huge house was a hard task for Lillian, seeing him walking with his head down and not being able to say that everything was going to be okay since even she didn't believe it would be, it was hard. But she had already decided and she didn't usually go back, nor was it in her plans. They weren't sleeping in the

Chapter: Chapter Seventy-three - Celabrating"Sorry I'm late. "Says Adam arriving hand in hand with Lillian to the table. Geneva was with them, and the twins had been handed over to restaurant staff and taken to a kind of nursery where Beatrice was already. Lillian found it amazing how the services of rich people in a restaurant could be as unimaginable as possible."It's okay, actually I think we arrived early. After all, we are the only ones here. "Answers Francesco, he and his wife rise to greet those who have arrived. After that, Adam pulls out a chair for Geneva and then for Lillian, both of whom say thank you before sitting down."What are we celebrating? "Ask Adam curious."Nothing specific, I just thought we could get together for dinner. "Explains Elisa."Good night family! "Greets Max approaching and everyone rises to greet him."I thought I was late. "He comments pointing to the two empty chairs."Apart from Romeo, are we expecting anyone else? "Adam asks frowning, before that he hadn't even noticed the extra chair."

Chapter: Chapter Seventy-two - DinnerMr. Adam Winters"Thank God it's Friday" I think as I say goodbye to the last meeting staff. I walk with them to the elevator and say goodbye with an extremely fake smile outside the box, saying it was nice to see them when really I wanted to tell everyone to go fuck themselves. While I enjoy the rush of running a company, I'll admit it's been a tough few weeks. When the metal doors close taking those gentlemen away from me, I turn around and realize that Geneva is not at her post, in fact there were more people missing on that floor. Which is pretty weird.I stride to my office to make a few calls on the company phone to give some scolding, and when I open the door, I'm faced with at least three more employees besides Geneva and the new secretary gathered with their backs to me. me, they didn't even notice my presence, they seem to be busy with something."It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. "I hear one of them."I would stand here all day looking, until my eyes got married

Chapter: Chapter seventy-one - Conclusions"He wants to get me in the biggest trouble again. Remember the last time we saw each other and I mentioned that he was thinking of opening a branch? "Adam asks to find out how much his friend knew."I do remember. "The other responds."So, he managed to complete the project for this branch located in Italy, I stayed there for a few months while I was separated from Lillian. The point is that it worked very well, we managed to profit a lot, much more than expected.."And he wants you to go back there. "Concludes Max."He not only wants it, he needs it! And I completely understand because I know how much it has helped the family, and now that I have two young children to support, I know how important it is to them too. " Vent Adam."And why does that worry you? Just go and that's it. "Max says."It's a lot more complicated than it looks. Lillian wouldn't. Adam sighs."And you already talked about it with her? "Ask the friend."Not yet. I would say, but like I said, Lillian has been very
