Chapter: Chapter 75ROZETA:I went through a lot before getting here. Had to deal with some pests that threatened to cut short my existence.Even right now, I was feeling the impact of having to go against a lot and it was that little energy I carried along with me until I arrived back at the scene where it all seemed to be going down between Jax and Manuel. However, I was too late. The one thing I tried to prevent happened. And it just had to happen right about the time I arrived on the scene. The slice through the air, and the little grunt that followed it told me what I needed to know. Jax has just clawed through Manuel and that was the end of it all.I did try to stop Jax just in time by yelling out a loud 'No' but then it didn't seem to have an impact. Instead, it only rained in the air before it did happen.I should be happy, shouldn't I? Jax has just gotten rid of the biggest threat to the both of us. And that was fine because walking on the face of this earth with Manuel still in it wasn't worth

Chapter: Chapter 74MANUEL:For a moment, I was disoriented. I couldn't make sense of what I did. It was as if everything was happening so fast for me.I let go of the being in my hand, dropping her to the ground as I turn my full attention toward the area that I just shot at. And the only question I keep asking myself repeatedly is: Why is Beta Zeke on the ground instead of Jax's wolf?I know what I shot at. I know who I shot. I know who my target was. But why am I seeing something different?Have I just ruined everything with my hands? Did I just make a mess of a plan that has been coming together for such a long time? Why in the world is this happening?I have to take a look at my hand that had the gun in it. It's something I've known how to handle since I was little. A survival training, it was. And that meant I should be able to have a grip on myself whenever I shoot at something.Did the bullet deviate? Did it take a turn on its own? How did it end up meeting the wrong person?I wasn't even given a

Chapter: Chapter 73ROZETA:I could feel my heart beating against my chest as I stared into the eyes of the man determined to end my life. Imagine being this close to death and knowing just how inevitable it was. Well, that was my situation at the moment.I've never been this scared all my life. Maybe I have but I don't think any other way I've ever felt could be compared to this one.Perhaps to taunt me, Manuel clicks the trigger, making it seem like he was going to shoot me. I shut my eyes the instant I hear the sound, expecting a loud bang but nothing comes out of it.The only problem was my heart beating even faster and I found satisfaction on Manuel's face when I open my eyes to look at him. He was apparently enjoying my predicament and I wasn't even sure what to feel about that."You've always interfered in everything that concerns this mission I started years ago," Manuel starts to say. "Now I don't know what you have to do with all of this especially when it was me who got you linked with all of

Chapter: Chapter 72JAX:"What are you doing?" I hear Rozeta's desperate voice from behind but ignore it, my mind only focused on getting back to where I got her out from.I didn't even care about the wound on my arm or the pain that I felt radiating from it. I just wanted to do things my way from now on. And that starts from the mess that had caught up with my pack.I feel a strong grip on my arm, putting me to a halt. Actually, an impulse took over, resulting in me turning around to challenge the one who just halted my movement.I restrained myself from doing anything drastic. Instead, I snap and I sure as hell regretted doing that after."What?" is what I say out. And that mere action makes Rozeta tremble as she supposedly was the one who stopped me.She lets go of my arm, taking two steps backward to keep her distance from me. It was at that point that I realized what I just did and I instantly hate myself for it."I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that," I tell her, apologizing for my ill attitude. S

Chapter: Chapter 71ROZETA:Was I sure about what I heard? Was I even sure it could be linked to my assumption? I couldn't say. But there was this conviction that I just might be right. The Beta looked like he was in a tight position. It was as if I just accused him of the most grievous offense and for a moment, I thought I didn't hear right. However, everything was pointing toward what I heard. The eye contact with Manuel, the partial look of guilt, the cold silence that ensued... I know I was right for accusing the Beta."What are you talking about?" the Beta says, letting out a dry laugh as he says that. "Who am I with? Him? Don't be ridiculous.""If you're not with him, then why did you tell him to kill me already?" I ask in return, standing up in the process. For a second, I notice the look of bewilderment flashes on his face. It was only for a second and certainly enough for him to act like it was all good. But I know what I saw."Where did you hear me say that? Did becoming an ill-bred turn your b

Chapter: Chapter 70ROZETA: All of a sudden I was uncomfortable. And, no, I wasn't suffering discomfort from seeing Jax's old friend around. I can't fully pinpoint where the uneasiness was coming from but I was going to rely on it because it felt like something I had to hold on to. This was the point where the cuffs had to be taken off our arms. Jax and I were about to be caught in the middle of a confrontation between the warriors of his pack and the one who has a thing against them. Although he came out alone, all the warriors had their weapons pointed toward his direction, all active and ready to attack. This could get messy and it is one of the reasons I shouldn't be here. Neither should Jax. I notice as Manuel's eyes linger until it lands on Jax standing beside me. And the way he looked at him, it seems he has something against him. "You just wouldn't leave, would you?" is what he says. It wasn't loud enough but certainly enough for me to gauge something. "And you just can't quit, right?" Jax

Chapter: Chapter 7RUSSELL:"That hurts," I mutter as the lady applies some green stuff on my bruised arm.The frown I get from her in return as she looks up at me briefly is second to none. More like she was trying to stare deep into my soul. She continues what she's doing before taking out a piece of clothing that she had torn from a full one. She then starts to wrap it around my arm roughly."Can you take it easy?" I lament this time with the way she was handling me."Keep quiet and let me finish what I'm doing!" she snaps and it was enough to shut me up. She really is one crazy person.Minutes later and I'm out of her reach finally. I couldn't be more than happy to be free from this crazy woman who got me in this position in the first place.I stand up from the ground, my hand clutching where I got treated. I watch as the lady stands up too. She begins to look into the pouch she has strapped on her while I take a look around the environment we're in.Since we got out of that rumble of a house that w

Chapter: Chapter 6DAWN:It took me a few seconds, but I was able to sneak in behind the first warrior roaming free. Swiftly, I drive deep into the side of his neck the silver knife that I found among Thomas's stuff. The warrior couldn't even put up a fight because the silver was already taking effect. Before he goes down to the floor, I pull the knife out of him, ready to go against the next warrior."Did you just kill someone?" Russell questions me, his tone reflecting just how stunned he is at the sight he just witnessed. Not like he was here with me when it happened."Keep it quiet, young Alpha. We don't want to alert the rest," I caution him, watching through the side to see if anyone was coming in.When I hear approaching footsteps, I quickly pull him to the side with me, allegedly bumping my body into his in the process as we both take cover the same position.Just at that time, another warrior walked in. I think he notices the lifeless bloody body of his colleague. I could see that he was about

Chapter: Chapter 5DAWN:Thomas's room was a mess but I know my way around it. The fact that he hasn't shown up to confront me, a supposed intruder, means they have him. I can't begin to imagine what they will do to him."Where is this place? Where are we?" I hear the paranoid voice of Russell from behind me."This is my world," I say as I ransack through Thomas's stuff for something to wear. I then add, "Your world.""You keep speaking bullshit.""And you keep pretending to be what you're not!" I snap, turning around to face the man that can't seem to keep quiet. "Stop acting like you don't know what this is. You were only twelve when you were forced out of your real home so it means you were wise enough to know what happened then. This shouldn't be a thing of surprise to you."He seems dumbfounded now as he doesn't say anything to rebuff my words. This gives me a chance to continue my search for something to wear.Eventually, I find a plain shirt and a short. I put the short on first. And while I get

Chapter: Chapter 4DAWN:"What are you doing? Get your hand off me!" He protests as I drag him away from the hallway. I don't even know where I'm running to but I know I can't leave him there or they would kill him. I'm sure that's what they are here for.I didn't even bother responding to his question but I could feel him attempting to wriggle his wrist out of my hand. And he was this close to slipping out of my reach before I decided to put more force on the grip.In my head I could only wonder just how weak he is."Didn't you hear me? I said let me go!" he claims just as we begin to go down the stairs. Is he living in some sort of mansion?"Would you rather stay in there and let them kill you? Or would you follow me and save yourself?" I ask him without stopping."Are you insane? Why will I want to go with you?""So you're comfortable if I let them have you?"He doesn't say anything to do that. And I'm glad he doesn't because it gives me a chance to heighten my hearing to all what was going on around

Chapter: Chapter 3DAWN:"Who the hell is Russell Hondra?" he demands to know.I was tempted to move toward him and tell him to quit the bullshit but I stand my ground. If I want to get the truth out of him, I will have to do it the right way."I believe I'm staring right at him," I say, maintaining the smirk I have on."For goodness sake, I'm not Russell Hondra or whatever you think I am! My name is Leonard—""Oh please," I cut him off, "who the hell gives himself such a name for a cover up?""Leonard's my real name," he insists."It's a made-up name," I look deep into his eyes like I'm trying to search within his soul. At least that's what I think I make him think I'm doing.I continue, "I know who you are. You're Russell. And you cannot deny the fact that it's your name so stop with the lies."He looks at me from head to toe before saying, "You sound even crazier than you look.""Don't mind the way I'm dressed. I went through a lot just to find you.""I don't care what you did to find me. You're a cr

Chapter: Chapter 2DAWN:My eyes were heavy as I tried to open them. The truth is that I am weak and I couldn't help but let a groan escape from my lips in a bid to stand up from wherever I was.I could feel a throb in my head. Which is why I try to soothe the pain by pressing on it with my hand. But when I try to do that, I find something hindering me from pulling my arm and this forces me to open my eyes."What the hell," I mutter after realizing I have been tied up on both hands. Looking down, I figured that my legs were tied too. From the look of things, I've been held captive. But by who?"Who are you?"That was a bit of a shaky voice. I couldn't recognize it but it was certainly something that I could tell belonged to a man.I try to twist my head a bit to have a look at the speaker. There was a bed in between which should be where I've possibly been resting my head on since. Still I did get a good look at the person."Who are you?" I had to ask in return as I assessed the broad-looking but fright
