She glanced back at Edric, her dear friend, waving in a melancholic farewell as the carriage set in motion. The rhythmic clatter of hooves and the creaking of wheels resonated through the bustling streets of the capital city. As the carriage smoothly traversed the well-trodden paths, Rosalina's heart ached at the sight of the tearful citizens lining the roads, their eyes filled with bittersweet emotions. They waved their heartfelt goodbyes, bidding farewell to the woman who had left an indelible mark on their lives.Lady Rosalina had been a shining beacon of hope and positive change in the kingdom. Chapter: What Fresh HellLady Lucia sat up late one night and penned the letter. She left out as much detail about Rosalina’s life as possible without Edric missing the point of the letter. When she was finished, Lady Lucia called a messenger and told him to get the letter to Mercia as quickly as possible. She knew that Edric would be furious when he read the letter and would go straight to the King and Queen. She hoped that soon her mistress would be saved from the monster she had been forced to marry. Lady Lucia returned to Lady Rosalina’s chambers and laid down in her bed until Rosalina woke up. The sun rose in the sky and the birds began to sing. The light invaded the windows and crossed the stone floor to the bed where Lady Rosalina was sleeping. The rays of the sun illuminated the bruises that covered her face. The bright light of the sun hurt her eyes, she was a little thankful that her eyes were swollen, so that she didn’t have to squeeze her eyes closed. Lady Rosalina rolled over and gasped at the

Chapter: Changes Lady Rosalina stepped into the black, box carriage with tears streaming down her face. Lady Lucia followed and sat next to her mistress. As the carriage started to move, Lady Rsalina collapsed into Lady Lucia's lap and sobbed. Lady Lucia just held the young woman and let her cry it out. SHe knew that Lady Rosalina was hurting and there was nothing that could changed what fate had handed her. The journey to the port passed with nothing more than the sounds of the horse hoofs clopping on the cobblestones, and the soft sobs of Lady Rosalina in Lady Lucia's lap. About an hour of travel and they arrived at the port. General Fenris awaited his daughter to ferry her to her future. The carriage stopped and a page opened the door. Lady Lucia stepped out and helped her mistress exit the carriage. Lady Rosalina stepped onto the dock and approached her father. Her head was down, eyes staring at the cobble stones of the road and the wooden slats of the dock. Fenris help a broad smile and made

Chapter: Tears and GoodbyesThe night before Rosalina was supposed to leave a feast was held to say a proper goodbye. The next day the weather seemed to share the mood in the castle. The sky was dark gray and the rain poured as if from a pitcher in the sky. The King sat in the chair staring into the fire brooding. The Queen finally stopped trying not to cry. Bethany held Rosalina's hand crying. The three toddlers do not really know what was happening so they played on the floor. Their laughs were the only sounds to break up the crackling of the fire and the rain beating on the window.Tears fell silently from Rosalina's eyes, Edric walked into the room to let them know that Fenris was waiting at the carriage. The women gasped and grabbed each other. They hugged and cried on each others shoulders. Prince James stood up and pulled on his mother's skirt, “ Mamma, why you cry?” he asked.

Chapter: Discovering Her PackAs Lynexia roamed through the lively streets of the pack town, a newfound sense of harmony and happiness seemed to envelop the members of her pack. A radiant smile graced her lips, and the soft whispers of her wolf resonated in her ears, a soothing presence guiding her steps. The weight of the shadows that had plagued her soul seemed to fade gradually, dispersing like mist in the morning sun. In the darkest corners of her being, her spirit glowed dimly in the face of adversity.Seeking to integrate further into the pack community, Lynexia decided to engage with her fellow members whenever the opportunity arose. It started with a simple act of ordering her morning coffee at the local shop. The owner, a kind-hearted soul, recognized Lynexia as a pack member and never charged her for her daily dose of caffeine. Amidst the casual exchange of pleasantries, Lynexia began to listen to the conversations swirling around her, eager to learn more about her new family.Gossip, both trivial and si

Chapter: Unfamiliar TerritoryThe woods were a common place for Lynexia to spend most of her time. There were few times when she didn't return home with scratches and a few broken bones every day. Rydell would repair the bike without complaint. Whenever she bandaged an injury, Melania smiled and was understanding. Lynexia was grateful for the warmth and understanding she received from this new family. She knew that it wasn't easy for them to watch her take risks and get hurt, but she was determined to prove herself. She was determined to explore every inch of the forest and learn its secrets. It was beginning to look like Lynexia would be able to settle in well there. There were glimpses of her possibly still becoming the woman her parents always wanted her to become. Alpha Xander and Luna Ginger continued to serve dinner every week at his house. Alrik wasn't as present as he once was. One day, Lynexia finally asked Melania where Alrik had been. Melania explained that he was trying to respect her space and her re

Chapter: Broken BarriersRydell sat the ribs on the table and Melania put a plate of corn on the cob next to the plate of ribs. After a few moments the table was full of food and plates. Lynexia filled her plate as the plates of food were passed to her. The group remained silent as they served up the food. Lynexia wasn't sure how to handle a family dinner with the almost strangers. It made her miss her parents even more. She didn't want to speak. Melania and Rydell just let her be. They had seen her relax more since she arrived so they were sure that she would open up sooner or later. After a few minutes, Lynexia felt the need to speak. She looked at Rydell and said, " Thank you for the dinner. It is delicious. Reminds me of bak home. When summer started my father would call the pack togehter and we would have a huge barbeque. He would make the best ribs with a homemade barbeque sauce that his grandfather taught him to make." Rydell smiled, "You're welcome, Lynexia. I am glad that you like it. This barbeque

Chapter: The Lull Between BeatsLynexia laid on her couch, reading a book. She could hear the chirping of the birds outside. She could hear the sound of the breeze rustling through the trees. The rays of the sun came through the window and shone on her face. She closed her eyes and breathed in the fresh air. She allowed the book to fall to her chest. For a moment she was back home, in the mountains of Wyoming, in her room in her parents' house. She could hear the pups playing outside and the other teens squabbling in the backyard. She heard her mother singing in the kitchen and smelled chicken roasting in the oven. Her father was in his study talking to his beta about his next moves for the pack.Lynexia was ripped from her peaceful moment by the knock at the door. She sighed and sat up. She placed the book on the coffee table and walked to the door. She opened the door to find Melania standing there. "Would you like to go for a walk?" Melania asked. Lynexia thought for a moment. She really wanted to be alone but th

Chapter: Dinner and Revelations The group entered the dining room and sat around the table. The table was filled with homemade foods that reminded Lynexia of her Grandmother. There was Southern Sweet tea, fried green tomatoes, Soft Buttermilk Dinner Rolls, sweet corn, fried chicken, and homemade country gravy with mashed potatoes. It all smelled delicious. Far better than the cereal she had back at her apartment. Alrik tried to sit next to Lynexia but his family attempted to keep him from his goal. They didn’t want to alert Lynexia to the situation. But she already knew. “It’s fine. Alrik can sit next to me, if it will make him feel better.” Lynexia sighed. The group was surprised. Lynexia very rarely spoke and hasn’t without being spoken to. They were also surprised that she would let Alrik sit next to her. “Are you sure?” Ginger questioned. “If we keep telling him to stay away he will keep trying and probably get aggressive. Just let him sit next to me.” she replied. “Behave yourself.” Xander warned as his son

Chapter: The VisitorLynexia awoke sometime later, hearing voices down stairs. She got up and walked out of her bedroom. Then she walked down the stairs and cracked the door open, just a little. She could finally hear the voices more clearly. “I’m sorry, Alrik, Lynexia has not come down. I don’t think this is a good time to visit.” Melania said. “Mel, I need to see her.” Alrik protested. “I understand what you are feeling but you cannot rush her feelings. You constantly around will unnerve her. She is already struggling with the new life she has been dealt.” Rydell responded, trying to calm the young man. “I can’t just walk away and wonder how she is doing. She is me..” “Stop, do not talk about that right now. If she can hear us, this news would scare her more. Now is not the time to add that into her world. Give her some time to settle. You can come back another time. We will let you know when it would be a good time. I promise to keep you up to date on her condition. Be patient.” Melania urged. Lynexia
