The cafeteria was like a stereotypical jail-style cafeteria. Officers stood around while the inmates on kitchen duty served the rest of us on a plastic plate. It smelled of dirty cooking oil and rotting food that was stuck between the planks of the tables. Whoever was on cleaning duty never cared enough to clean properly, but heck, we were in jail.
