Chapter: THREE: Taken
Her eyes flung open as one of his bodyguards heaved while lifting her from the car. A breeze blew, bringing about fresh air. She had been feeling hot in the heavy dress and heels and also in the car. The touch of the cool air on her face and low cut back of the wedding dress felt like she had just been removed from an oven. The starlit sky alerted her that it was already night . As the memory of her wedding resurfaced in her mind, she began to cry again. The fact someone would be so cruel to her to even treat her like an animal repelled her. She didn't know where she was or how long the journey had lasted, only that this unfamiliar place she was at was bigger and fancier than all the places she had ever been to."Hurry Michael!" She heard her new husband's voice. "Bring my prize, upstairs to my suite. It's my wedding night today!"

Chapter: ONE: Unwilling Bride...
NIGHT HAD JUST FADED. Daylight was slowly approaching in the form of dawn when the phone rang delivering news that would shatter me for the rest of my life. He had not disclosed the news to me but somehow I knew what it was all about. I stood there shocked, in tears and disbelief. My weakly trembling legs failed to support my body. I was struggling to breath as I tried my best to comprehend his words. They felt surreal; as if this all wasn't happening and I had just hallucinated it all. I paced back leaning on the cold counter for support. No! This can't be happening, it can't. I thought to my self. How could Destiny have played such a cruel joke on me? She was my everything, the only hope for me out of this prison i called a marriage. She had made false promises of an escape from him. From his life, from his family but she had went ahead and broken that promise she had made to me. "She said she would save me, she said sh

Chapter: ONE: Sad News!
NIGHT WAS SLOWLY FADING AWAY. The stars seemed to dim with the break of daylight that was slowly and calmly coming in. I stood gazing out the window in a state of utter apprehension struggling to fathom the very path that had led my life to this bleak dead end. The small wooden brown window with thin glass shatters, the place that had now become a permanent spot for me to sit and ruminate on things; ruminating on my entire existence on this Earth brought me some form of closure and comfort. It eased my internal pain and I felt everything was going to be just okay. The window that had bore witness to my bleak and sad life also bore my happiest moments.Daylight was slowly approaching in the form of dawn when the phone rang delivering the very news that would shatter me for the rest of my life on that very night. I had been sitting on the small comfortable arm chair while looking out throu

Chapter: TWELVE
It was only a few months after she had arrived home that Yasmin received devastating news that shook her to the core of her being. News that she never expected to hear so soon in her young life. The news shook her so much that she curled up on the floor in pain, severe chest pains; a panic attack hitting her at maximum. Harran was desperately shaking her semiconscious frame in a panic to stir her back to full consciousness. Her sister’s voice echoed in her ears like little bells rung in a large hall as she screamed in vain. “ Yasi, whats wrong Yasi answer me please sister!” The shocked Nadia paced back in dismay kicking the cell phone that lay on their bedroom floor with the back of her left foot. Then a few minutes later Nadia picked up the cell phone only to find out that the call had not been disconnected. On the other end a distraught Ali was still engulfed in sobs that could be stridently heard. “Whats wrong with Yasmin” Ali s voice unveile

Chapter: ELEVEN
Yasmin's father stomped in the house in anger shouting at the top of his lungs, yelling for her. He was in a bad temper as was typical, but today, he seemed more maddened and agitated. When Yasmin exited the bedroom and paced into the corridor towards the living room, her eyes started to water as she witnessed a sight that would haunt her, every minute, every day of her life, a sight so horrific, fearful, her small frame was trembling, paralyzed with distressing anxiety , a sight that would be embedded in her mind for the rest of her life. Her father stood tall dressed in white traditional wear and a turban holding Nadia by her light blue traditional tunic tucking at it vigorously as if to torture her, the sorrowful looking Mohammed was behind him gazing at particularly nothing on the floor. . She knew all hell was about to break loose, but for the happiness of her sister she was about to give up everything, even sacrifice her own life for her b

Harran was named after her aunt, because of her beautiful features and that resembled her. The name Harran is of Sumerian origin’ meaning ' home of the Queens and Kings’. Harran was an ancient city situated in the middle ea. Yasmin’s grandmother liked the ring to it. To her it sounded ancient and perfect for her daughter(Yasmin's aunt) because she cherished her for the beauty she possessed and treated her like a queen while her mother was a bit in the shadows and ignored because she was plain, no attractive features!, NO wonder the childless wealthy aunt also took a liking to Harran when they were children and begged her mother to let her take her. Yasmin's parents were more than relieved in letting their barren relatives take away Harran with them to raise as their own. At least she'd have a good home and would get a good education. Now she had blossomed in

Chapter: FIFTEEN
Chapter FifteenThe sun's rays lit up my room through splinters in my curtains at dawn and I found my self awake, awake with a heart too heavy to bear the burdens brought forth by yesterday's troubles. I lay staring at the ceiling and ruminating on what was to become of my young life. My father wanted me to go hide out in Egypt, to commence my life as a slave under the supreme pharoahnic rule as there was no hope and no abundance for Atlantis citizens like I in that land of the living deities. I was scared. I was afraid of the unknown. It was in that moment I gained a whim of courage ruminating on how I was going to face my problems that something suddenly happened. My sister knocked on my door, as if she knew I needed her in this bleak moment."Come in. I uttered."Wakey wakey, aren't you going to school today Anathi?"",School? I asked her. Where is dad and how can I be thinking of school when you know what happened with our brother. I

Chapter: FOURTEEN
I slowly made my way back home through the forests, carefully. I did not want to get caught by any of those uncivilized council thugs incase they were searching for me. I then walked briskly afraid of the hollows that came with the night. The moon was high up in the night blueish- navy sky with a few stars twinkling in the distance. The forest was quiet, deathly and deafeningly quiet except for a few critters of the dark that haunted the peaceful night. The smell of the semi wet soil penetrated my nose. I was heaving with anger, with fear. Was my family okay? Had my sister really been ravished? How could my life have crumbled to this! That Dumuzi, I felt so much anger for him even though he was in prison. Suddenly, I felt a fear I had never felt before. My heart broke at the thought of my sister, and how those men must have treated her. Deep inside of me was a hesitating feeling urging me to turn back and not return home but I kept on on m

After half an hour of torturing us they seemed tired yet unsatisfied. My brother lay in a pool of blood on the floor. He had stopped moaning and he was still."Please spare us!" My sister begged as she wept. "I have to take my brother to the hospital!""Hospital!" Hoe head chanted. "You think your brother's life is worth more than your sins? You still haven't told us yet who Anathi is. Is it the lass we tossed about!"My sister did ynot answer but wept even more, then she began to beg him to spare me."Your little sister here exposed our very sacred life to the mundane a and you expect us to save her life!" The leader said to my sister who was utturely engulfed in immense, tears."Hoe-head" he motioned to the guy who had blocked me at the gate. "Take the problem outside and get rid of it!" He said to my horror. My young life flashed before my eyes. I was shivering, scared. I would never have begged for my life though because

So, what made you decide to help me, after all you decided you did not want anything to do with me!"I asked her later on as we sat outside in the school yard."Well, I figured these were the last days of our schooling together and we have been best friends for a long long time, Anathi,"she said as she hugged me. "I wouldn't want our friendship to end like this, you know the moment he came to me and threatened to have my father lose his job if I didn't do what he asked, I was scared. He wanted me to break my friendship with you for good and also to bully you like everyone else, so that you don't have any friends left."She said,to my utter shock."Who?"I asked her, failing to comprehend her words that had seeped into the hollows of my ears."Dumuzi of course!"She said to me,"So Dumuzi did this? All this?"I uttered in a state of disbelief and suddenly all that had happened to me in my young life flashed before my very eyes. Sudde

Chapter: ELEVEN
Next day at school, I met Kairi but she ignored me. She did not even return my wave. I went to class dragging my feet, hesitating about my day now that I had even lost my best friend. "Look who it is, Anathi the whore!"My bully Carly began to say. "Tsk! Hi w that little whore business of ours going? Made enough for your college?"She smiled in glee as her posse roared out in laughter. I had had enough. I was tired, tired of her, very tired of being bullied. I bound my hands into fists, I was ready to attack her and rip her hair out. "Shut the hell up!"They all circled me. Laughing. "Oh look, the little whore wanna start a fight with us!"Carly's friend began to say as she slapped one hand in the other. They all began to cheer as they started up a mock fight.``Shut the hell up! I have had it with you."They all drew back in fear."Her eyes just changed colour! They are yellow!"One of the girls uttered as she shook. They all went quiet. I had never before fel

"Was a bit tough in there aye mate?"Dumuzi smirked gazing in my direction while doing his arrogant walk. He was mocking me. "Could tell you were about to burst into tears kid!"He continued."She really put you in a tough spot didn't she? "I ignored him as I paced ahead of him in the corridor. "I'm surprised you didn't dare utter my name!"He tried to catch up to me. I mean you could have if you wanted. Or do you still want to meet up with me for a good time?"I was almost running while hugging my books headed for my locker which was on the second floor hallway. I could feel the warmth of my tears soaking up my rosey cheeks which were probably changing colour in embarrassment. I was about to climb down the stairs when I was suddenly grabbed by the shoulDer and pinned against the wall."Listen bitch! It's a good thing you didn't snitch on me! I told her about it to test you to see what you would do! At one moment I thought you were going to tell her!"He said his ch
