Chapter: Chapter thirty-four We were on the road towards Palecrest territory within a half hour. Amelia and Kyle took their Jeep and I rode with Dominic. The other two men who I learned were his beta and gamma rode with his mother and their mates The backseat of Dominics vehicle had been folded down and several totes of my belongings the Amelia had been able to save filled the back to the point we couldn't see out the rear window. I knew at least one tote housed some of my parents belongings that she had managed to save and the others were mine I think. I owed her big time for risking herself to save what she did for me. I would find a way to thank her especially since it was my fault we had all been exiled. "Kaydence you said something was off what did you mean by that." Dominic finally asked about an hour into the drive. "Oh. I don't know how to explain it really and I have no proof but I think Elstans been taking something." I

Chapter: Chapter thirty-three I turned and faced Elstan, he smelt weird again. No one else really seemed to notice it though. Nor did they notice the frail petite looking woman beside him. Was this his chosen mate? She looked up at him with a fearful expression then looked at me with hatred. I just looked at her confused. She looked away though and practically hid behind Elstan. Was she chosen or forced I wondered. And how old was she because she looked really young. "Good evening Elstan." Dominic said politely. Elstan sneerd at him and I could feel Dominic tense up. Two male wolves I hadn't noticed before took their stance beside him while two female wolves I didn't recognize ushered me and his mother to stand behind them. I could defend myself but I didn't object. "Do you really plan on taking my pretty little slave away? I think you have forgotten that pack slaves are not allowed to take mates." Elstans eyes stayed on me the entire time he spoke.

Chapter: Chapter thirty-two I finished the cleaning and set up on time thankfully. I felt tired but knew I had too much to do still. Elias helped me stash the boxes for the decorations and helped me carry the cleaning stuff back to the supply room. He seemed antsy for whatever reason but I felt antsy as well. I wasn't able to clearly communicate with Zariah yet but I expected as much. I was certain that her antsy and erraticness was due to my own nervousness and uncertainty over escaping. I played it cool as much as possible but used her antsy behavior to my advantage. "Ok Ruby said to head back to the kitchen when I was done." I said smoothing my dress after putting everything away. "Alright lets go. The sooner you're back in Rubys care the sooner I can go get dressed." I nodded and ducked into the kitchen. Ruby looked up from her station and brought me a bowl of oatmeal. I quickly ate it and by the time she was back with a vegetable peeler I had finishe

Chapter: Chapter thirty-One Dominic POV Zeff started to become anxious and unusually antsy half way through the drive and because of that so did I. Xander gave me a sidelong glance as he started to notice my antsy behavior as I started to fidget more and more. "Alright dude I give do you have to piss or something?" Xander finally asked me. "I don't know what your'e talking about I'm fine." I snapped. Xander raised and eyebrow at me and turned down the music. "Dude what gives? Why are you being a dick all of a sudden." I sighed. "I'm sorry I don't know why but Zeff Is going berserk. He's anxious and antsy and I don't know why. Last time this happened was right before we had that last rouge attack." Xander furrowed his brows. "Do you think something is going to happen at the ceremony?" Rowan asked leaning forward over the center console. "I'm not sure but just in case be rea

Chapter: Chapter thirty I woke up a few hours before dawn so that I could go over the details in my mind one more time. Before the ceremony started, while everyone was starting to gather outside I was going to say I needed the ladies room, breakfast and lunch weren't agreeing with me. Emron had skipped a note under my door stating he would have one of the warriors approach Elias and distract him long enough for me to slip out the window. I was going to use the bathroom closest to the garages. Slip out the window and into the garage. Emron has it set up so that one of the Jeep's would be unlocked with tap bags worth of stuff hidden in the back for me. I just hoped this would work. I didn't want to doubt the plan but I was still worried something would go wrong. I started to pace back and forth chewing on my thumbnail. I was trying to think of everything that could go wrong and plan a way around each scenario that popped into my head. I could feel something stirring i

Chapter: Chapter twenty nine: Dominic POV I rolled over as my beta and best friend Xander pulled back the curtain to let the morning light in and greeted him with a growl. He gave me the middle finger and walked over to my closet. He practically threw the doors open and I could tell he was irritated. I looked at the clock on the bedside table and could see why. It was three in the evening, we were supposed to leave for the Alpha and Luna ceremonies for the Deepridge pack almost an hour ago. "Get dressed, wash up because you smell like a whores vagina after she was working all night and cheap alcohol." Xander said aggressively laying a suit with the packs symbol on it. He laid out one of my black button shirts out with it and matching socks along with a royal blue tie and black dress shoes. "Who died and made you boss?" I growled. He flinched a little but his anger was fairly clear. He was one of the few people in this world I would ever let talk back to me, mostl

Chapter: Chapter Thirty-Three: The end I stood there debating on what to do for a moment. Elstan didn't budge, but the wolf to his right waved his arm above his head, almost like he was waving at me, and more wolves that I hadn't noticed before stepped forward. I didn't recognize most, if any of the wolves that were there. Was it possible they were all rogues? How many had he taken in? I tried not to think about it and tried to just keep my head and mind clear. That was my best bet right now. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself. "I had a feeling that once you figured out that Alpha Larson betrayed your little secret to me you guys would plan to attack as soon as possible. I had a feeling today would be the day. Glad to see you're as predictable as ever Kaydence. So let me tell you how this is gonna go. You have two options. Leave now and I will let you, Dominic and the wolves of Pale Crest walk away unharmed. Option two we fight it out, I kill you and force D

Chapter: Chapter thirty-two The next morning we were all up early. I threw on a pair of yoga pants and a tank top that I didn't care much about, not even bothering with a bra or panties since I was most likely going to be fighting in wolf form a good portion of the time. I had a spare pair of clothes I was going to store in the bus Dominic, myself and a few others would be riding in. We had agreed that instead of stripping down to shift like we usually would we would just bring extra clothes to save time and not leave as much evidence. I had tried shifting with clothes on before and I remembered destroying them. Dominic and I headed to breakfast together. We had notified the kitchen staff about an early breakfast the night before for todays battle and thankfully there was muffins, fruit and cups of coffee and juice all to go. By five everyone was on the training grounds and ready to go. No body said anything and the tension in the air was so thick it was pract

Chapter: Chapter Thirty-one I stood looking at the twenty wolves that were in my squad. Most were pack members since Dominic thought that would be best but I had two that were not in Pale crest pack. It was of course Alpha Blaine and Alpha Avery who insisted I take two of their better warriors. I didn't understand at first, but when Dominic explained they were just worried about me and wanted to make sure I would be able to get to Elstan I understoodazx hvff. There was only two girls on my squad which I thought was a bit sexist but I didn't argue with Dominic. I knew he just wanted to make sure I would be safe since none of us knew what would happen tomorrow. "Alright everyone listen up." Everyone looked at me and I almost shrank away before reminding myself of what I was doing and why it had to be done. I wasn't sire why i felt so uneasy all of a sudden. "Does everyone know our squads duty?" I asked making sure everyone had been able to hear Dominic a litle while ago. "Protect Pale Crests Luna whil

Chapter: Chapter Thirty I sat on the edge of mine and Dominics bed holding the only photo of Elstan and I that I still had. We looked so happy and so in love in the photo. I couldn't figure it out, but for whatever reason I just couldn't destroy it. I still hated him, but I hadn't always and I knew that. Sometimes I couldn't help but wonder how things would be if he had been different. I was struggling mentally knowing that in two days I would be killing my first mate if he refused to back down. True he had put our pack through hell and he had destroyed everything, but even then I couldn't fully hate him and I didn't understand it. "Are you ok?" Dominic asked sitting next to me and pulling me into him. I shook my head. "Honestly I don't know any more." Dominic looked at the picture and smiled. "You look beautiful in this photo angel." He said playing with a strand of my hair. "This was right before he started trying to control how I dressed." "Kay i'm not mad you still have this,

Chapter: Chapter twenty nine summaryThis summary is for those who didn't want to read chapter twenty nine due to some of the possible triggers in it. To sum it up in the chapter it talks about Laina meeting and being given to Elstan on her fourteenth birthday. Her father is forced out of her life after treating her poorely and abusing her. Laina realizes fairly quickly what kind of man Elstan is but is now stuck in the situation. You also read about Elstan being given the vial of the stimulant he used to over power Kaydence in the first book. Although I don't name the character it is from the Elder who was there for the challenge. Again thank you for all your support guys. -Mavis Belladonna.

Chapter: Chapter 20 February was here before I knew it. We had moved into our house and I was absolutely in love with it. Ariel, Sylvia and Natalia had repainted and redone everything exactly the way Aiden and I had requested, even our nursery which was three doors down on the left from our room. The walls were black minus a few painted galaxies, including the Milky Way and nebula galaxies on different walls. There were also the different constellations made with the glow in the dark star stickers all over. It was really well done. Up against one wall was two changing stations, one purple and one grey. The wall opposite had two matching cribs against it. There were two black rocking chairs and dozens of stuffed animals everywhere. On the wall next to the door were two dressers the same colors as everything else which were full of clothes. The changing stations, most of the clothes, most of the stuffed animals and a dozen or so toys for each of the twins had all been g

Chapter: chapter nineteen Time flew by in the blink of an eye. Before I knew it, or even had time to comprehend I stood twisting from side to side in a gorgeous maroon dress that hid my ever growing baby bump. My father and hopefully soon to be adopted mother were getting married today and i was ecstatic to say the least. The adoption papers I had printed earlier sat on the bed waiting for me to neatly fold into an envelope. The actual wedding gift Aiden and I had picked out was sitting in a similar envelope, one that Aiden would hide until we gave it to them. The adoption papers and the ultrasound photo of the twins from a few weeks ago would be neatly tucked into the envelope soon. This wasn't the first set of photos they owuld be recieving. The first ones I had handed out to everyone at Aiden's parents Halloween costume ball. Everyone, friends and family alike, had been so happy to see them. At that point we oficially announced twins. I don't think I had ever

Chapter: Chapter eighteenWhen we got to his parents house I instantly sought out Sylvia. We had two hours to kill before Aidens parents came back from wherever they had gone this morning. Most of the party was already set up by the time we arrived so I didn't feel guilty wanting to steal Sylvia for a few moments. "Letty you look worried." She said when I finally found her. I nodded. "Can we talk privately?" I asked in a hushed tone. She nodded and led me into a random room and shut the door. "What's wrong?" She asked turning to look at me. Even when worried she looked so beautiful. She wore a gold dress that matched her eyes but looked so beautiful against her milk chocolate skin. Her hair was hanging down to her waist in multiple thin braids with strands of gold in them. She was breathtaking. She smiled at me and shook her head. Don't continue that thought dear. You're beautiful too. You may not think it because of your size but I

Chapter: Chapter SeventeenThe weeks dragged on. Every time I closed my eyes all I could hear was the sound of the crash. I had barely slept and Aiden practically had to force me to eat. I knew this wasn't healthy for me or our children but I just felt awful. I didn't want to believe it but the truth was Mark was gone permanently. A small piece of me was happy because that meant he could never bother me again. A part of me was sad though because I didn't think he deserved it. A small sliver of me thought death was too good for him after everything. I was a mixed sea of emotions and it drove me mad. Despite the lies, the cheating, the constant make up break up cycle, the emotional and mental manipulation and abuse, and just all the shit he had put me through I couldn't bring myself to hate him completely. I had chosen to go to his funeral, only to have his deranged mother screaming at me and insisting it was somehow my fault. She kept saying that she had told him not

Chapter: Chapter sixteen Finals week came and went in the blink of an eye. I sat on my laptop refreshing the page every so often to see if my final grades had been posted yet. It had already been a week since my last one so they should be posted today. Or at least I hoped. Aiden decided to take me to a club he knew of in the mixed community city as a mini graduation party tonight. He told me mostly reapers came to the club so it had more of a goth vibe to it which he knew I would like. He did assure me plenty of humans came too though. Of course my friends were more than eager to come with and Aiden even agreed to letting Vanessa come. He wasn't too thrilled about it and said she would not be riding in the back seat of his truck. Amber and Tammy happily agreed to take her. Sylvia had asked to come too and Aiden agreed simply because he felt safer having another pair of eyes on me at all times. He had become over protective to say the least since the pregnancy announcement. It was cu

Chapter: Chapter fifteenWhen I woke up I was curled up with Aiden in our bed. Glancing at his bedside alarm clock it was eight in the morning. Wow I had really slept a long time. I snuggled into him closer. He felt so warm and I didn't want to let that warmth go. I breathed in his scent and smiled to myself. I never felt so comfortable. I opened my eyes again and looked up at his face studying how he looked as he slept. He looked so peaceful. I felt the urge to pee all of a sudden and groaned. I gently pulled back the covers and quietly crept to the bathroom trying to not wake Aiden. I flushed the toilet when I finished peeing, flinching at how loud it was. Creeping back into the room I silently cursed as I saw Aiden awake and sitting up in the bed. His golden eyes lit up as he smiled at me. I would never get tired of that. He patted my side of the bed and I climbed back under the covers and curled up tightly with him. He rested his head on mine and I felt so at ease.&
