Chapter: 22.Black well fitted tailored suit, a nice red tie around his neck to compliment his look perfectly. Well groomed as always, hair styled in a perfect sleek side part. The man walks down the echoey hallway while passing by the cells that withhold numerous criminals. No one would know what is running through his mind; the mind of Zen Fleming. He looks so well composed, not giving any sign of unease or hesitation. No one in the right mind would know the purpose behind why he is here. The cell guard greets him when he halts in front of cell number 102. He nods at the guard who slowly opens the cell for him and stands aside. He lets out a silent huff and slowly walks inside.Sensing an intrusion in his cell, Joe slowly sits up from his lying position and rubs his eyes while yawning and stretching his arms. “Who do we have here?” He lets out a muffled chuckle. Zen shakes his head unable to believe the things he has to do for love. “What are you here for?&rdquo

Chapter: 21.“What are you up to Daniel? You leaving the house and not showing up until it’s dawn? You don’t clearly work; tell me what you’re up to Dan?” Cheyenne grabs his arms and turns him to her. Daniel looks disoriented and very tensed, it feels like he has no sense of what’s happening around him. “I need answers, I can’t keep on going like this. Tell me.” She shakes him back and forth but he doesn’t answer her. She stares at him disappointed and lets him go which causes him to fall back on the couch. He stares ahead at the wall blankly not knowing what else to do. A part of him thinks Isabelle would still like to come back to him. Another part of him knows but isn’t willing to admit the fact that she might have a blissful and safe life; a life that he won’t be able to provide her with. “I can’t do this, I know you love her and I know I will never be enough but all I wanted was just to have a part of

Chapter: 20.Human nature, what’s human nature? The most common human nature is when a human is told not to do something that “something” becomes more interesting and enticing for them to do. That’s exactly why Daniel is standing right in front of Belle’s house in spite of being told not to come here, he still came. A part of him knows this could jeopardize her well being but he just couldn’t stay away.It has been two weeks since Belle and Daniel last met, ever since then Daniel couldn’t keep the thought of her out of his mind. It was driving him crazy, he lost sleep waiting for her; waiting for her to just once come to him and he would take her away from the entire world and runaway. So here he is standing right where he belongs closer to her. Where they breathe in the same air, he knows they belong with each other. He knows they are meant to be each other’s, he knows she is his soul mate. He grips the strap of his backpack closer t

Chapter: 19.Isabelle feels the adrenaline course through her entire body. Both of them are bolting towards the backyard like two teenagers in fear of being caught in the act. Her heart beats in sync with every step Zen takes towards the entrance of the house. She knows what Zen has done, he has been lying to her all along and now if he finds out that the Daniel he has been hunting down is right here in his house only God knows what he will do.She lets his hand go and pushes him towards the rose bushes. “Hide Dan, he can’t see you here he will kill you if he does. After a while please run away and don’t come back here. I will look for you I promise.” She breathes out and sprints off towards the house. “There you are.” Zen wraps his arms around her waist stopping her from running and picks her up and throws her over his shoulder laughing. “Always dancing around the house.” He chuckles while slapping her right asscheek lightly. She lets out a

Chapter: 18.Do you know the feeling of having something you wanted for so long be right there in front of you, but you can’t have it? That’s exactly how he is feeling right now. The way she walks, the way she talks gives him a reason to breathe. Belle is sitting in the backyard of the house by the rose bushes, lost in her thought she didn’t even realize the pair of eyes stuck on her. Every time she brings up the tea cup to her lips, the pair of eyes watching her immediately goes down to her lips. The lips his soul is yearning to touch, to feel them on his lips is all his heart desires, the dire need to have her after all this time is killing him one bit at a time.“Tim, come here.” Belle calls out to him, he drops the pebbles from his grasp and runs back to her and smiles jumping on her lap. “Mom look!” He holds his dirty, muddy hands up and shows her. She crinkles her nose seeing his hands all muddied up. A sudden movement in the rose bushes sta

Chapter: 17.All the things Isabelle told Zen really got him thinking who this guy is, that is watching her. He knows for a fact that Joe is in jail, he just got the update yesterday. Only one name keeps on popping in the back of his head, he doesn’t want to give into the thought of Daniel being the one, who is watching her. But deep down he knew this moment would come, this moment which he wholeheartedly wanted to avoid. If by any chance Isabelle meets Daniel, all the lies he told her would come out instantly. The need to keep them away from each other is eating him from inside out, there’s no way he can let the two meet.Lost in thought Zen keeps on squeezing the drink glass that was in his hand so hard that it shatters into pieces. Drops of blood starts dripping down his arm and onto the floor, he silently stares at the blood and keeps on imagining the worst scenarios in his mind. “Zen can I....” Isabelle stops in her track by the door of his study and stares at

Chapter: Sequel. To answer the questions that were raised in the minds of the readers, yes I'm working on a sequel. A sequel was always the part of the plan and my idea was to leave the readers to a cliffhanger to get them excited. But a lot of the readers were being critical of my decision, which is completely understandable. 'Set Me Free' was not revised so sorry for the typos, I will try to mend my mistakes as much as possible. The sequel is called 'Am I Free?' the book sheds light on what actually happened to Daniel Robinson, if he ever gets to meet Isabelle Davis. Most importantly the sequel gives the much awaited ending. Hope all the readers will enjoy the sequel, I'm still working on it but here is a short preview of the book. Enjoy.“What is your name?” A deep voice of a man echoes throughout the poorly lit room.Daniel, who is cuffed to a white medical bed, can barely see anything. Small beads of sweat are pooling on his forehead due to the humidity and hot temperature of the room. His blurry

Chapter: The End. The distant calling of a voice makes me open my eyes; all I see is clear blue sky in front of me. “Tim?” I whisper closing my eyes again as a recollection of the moments of Joe taking him away starts flooding my mind. “Isabelle? Are you okay? He is right here look.” I hear Zen say. “Mom, are you okay?” I feel a small head on my chest and a pair of arms wrapping themselves around my body.

Chapter: 48.It has been a few days since that whole incident went down in the strip club. The police have been looking for Daniel but they have no trace of where he might be or what might have happened to him. It saddens me to realize that I might not ever be able to see him ever again. Zen has been very supportive of me, he is just wonderful, he is trying to take both Tim and I under his wing. He insisted on getting Tim admitted to a school here so I gave in and let him do it. Zen got all our stuff shifted here and he gave me full liberty on any changes I want to make around the house. He is treating me as if we are married, it’s funny how sometimes he just says ‘Honey I’m home’ after he arrives from his office. Life has suddenly taken a turn for the good, the past s

Chapter: 47.We have been in Zen’s place for hours now, after putting Tim to bed I went down to the living room where Zen has been pacing back and forth for hours. My whole body has given up and I have been sitting on the couch almost lying on it with a blanket wrapped around my body.“Now can you tell me what happened in there?” I ask while I watch him sit on the single couch in front of me. “There’s no Rosie, there’s no one by that name. No one at all,

Chapter: The Unravelling. The months following Rosie and Alex’s tentative reconciliation were marked by cautious optimism. Alex continued his therapy, both physical and psychological, and the changes in him were undeniable. He was becoming a better version of himself, the man Rosie had fallen in love with but never truly known.Rosie, too, was healing. Her relationship with Ryan grew stronger, though they kept it platonic out of respect for the complex emotions involved. She spent time at the mansion with Alex, helping him through his rehabilitation while maintaining her life at the cottage with Ryan. One evening, Rosie found herself at the mansion, sitting across from Alex in the study. The room, once filled with tension and resentment, now felt different—warmer, more hopeful."Rosie," Alex began, breaking the comfortable silence. "I’ve been thinking a lot about us. About everything we’ve been through."Rosie nodded, her heart pounding. "And what have you concluded?""I want to make things right," Alex said,

Chapter: Shattered Illusions.Rosie and Ryan's departure left a palpable emptiness in the mansion. The echo of their absence hung in the air, a constant reminder to Alex of his crumbling world. Alone in his study, Alex stared out the window, his mind a tumult of anger, regret, and a desperate longing to change. He knew he had pushed Rosie too far, driven by his insecurities and fear of losing her. Now, he was left with the wreckage of his own making, but amidst the desolation, a small flicker of resolve began to take root.Days turned into weeks, and Alex found himself grappling with his emotions in solitude. He attended his physical therapy sessions with a renewed determination, driven not just by the desire to regain his strength but by the need to prove to himself and to Rosie that he could change.Dr. Emily Hart noticed the shift in Alex's demeanor during their sessions. He was less hostile, more focused, and increasingly open to her guidance. "You're doing great, Alex," she said one morning, as he completed a

Chapter: Breaking Point.Despite the fragile truce, tensions continued to simmer beneath the surface. Alex’s efforts to change were genuine, but his jealousy and insecurities often got the better of him, leading to explosive outbursts that left Rosie emotionally drained. One evening, as Rosie was preparing dinner, Alex rolled into the kitchen, his face set in a grim expression. "We need to talk," he said, his voice tight."Okay," Rosie replied, setting down the knife she was using to chop vegetables. "What’s on your mind?"Alex wheeled himself closer, his eyes locking onto hers. "I’ve been thinking about what you and Ryan said. About me needing to change.""And?" Rosie asked, her heart pounding in her chest."And I think I need help. Professional help," Alex admitted, his voice breaking. "I can’t do this on my own."Rosie’s eyes filled with tears of relief. "Thank you, Alex. That’s a huge step.""But there’s something else," Alex continued, his expression hardening. "I don’t trust Ryan. I don’t like the way h

Chapter: Storm Clouds.Rosie stood by Alex’s side, the warmth of his hand a stark contrast to the cold dread pooling in her stomach. She knew their journey to healing would be fraught with setbacks, but she didn’t anticipate how quickly things would spiral out of control. The following week started off well enough. Alex made a genuine effort to be more considerate, attending his therapy sessions without complaint and even sharing a few moments of tenderness with Rosie. But the shadow of his past behavior loomed large, and the slightest frustration would trigger his old temper. One afternoon, as Rosie was helping Alex with his exercises, he grew increasingly frustrated with his limitations. His anger boiled over when he failed to complete a particularly challenging movement."Damn it, Rosie!" he yelled, pushing her away. "I can’t do this! I’m useless!"Rosie stumbled back, her heart breaking at the sight of his anguish. "Alex, it's okay. You’re making progress. We just need to keep trying.""Progress?" Alex

Chapter: Unsteady Ground.Days turned into weeks, and while Alex's attempts to change were inconsistent, there were moments of progress. Rosie clung to these glimpses of improvement, hoping they were signs of a better future. Ryan continued to be her rock, offering quiet support and gentle encouragement whenever she needed it.One rainy afternoon, Rosie was in the library, organizing the bookshelves. She found solace in the quiet room, the scent of old books providing a comforting distraction from the tension that still lingered in the house. As she worked, she heard the familiar sound of Alex's wheelchair approaching."Rosie?" he called out, his voice softer than usual."I'm here," she replied, turning to face him.Alex wheeled himself into the room, his expression unreadable. "I wanted to apologize for the other day. I know I’ve been... difficult."Rosie nodded, her heart softening. "I appreciate that, Alex. I know this isn't easy for you."He sighed, rubbing his temples. "I just feel so useless sometimes. A

Chapter: Shifting Sands.Rosie returned to the mansion with a sense of determination she hadn’t felt in months. She needed to find balance in her life and address Alex's treatment of her, but she also knew she couldn't do it alone. As she approached the front door, she heard the low rumble of an engine and turned to see Ryan, parking the sleek black car in the driveway.Unlike the other staff who had left after Alex's accident, Ryan stayed, not just out of loyalty, but also because of a growing affection for Rosie."Hey, Rosie," Ryan called out as he stepped out of the car. "Everything okay?"She forced a smile, trying to mask the turmoil inside her. "Hi, Ryan. Just got back from town."Ryan studied her face, his expression softening with concern. "You look like you could use a break. Want to take a walk around the grounds with me? Clear your head a bit?"Rosie hesitated, glancing back at the house where Alex awaited. But the idea of a brief escape, even within the estate's confines, was too tempting to resis
