SIENNA

Locked in the familiar cell I'd previously escaped from, I was writhing in pain. Since my wolf was yet to mature, I couldn't heal myself. Crying wouldn't solve my problems, so I chose not to.

I couldn't stop thinking about the voice I'd heard in my head a few hours ago. It was definitely not my mum. It couldn't be Aurora, my wolf.

While I thought about this, the smell of lavender hit my nostrils. I looked up at the sound of steady footsteps approaching.

A tall young lady stepped into my line of vision, a smile on her face.

"Who are you?" I asked, furrowing my brows.

"My name is Lily Declan," she said, and I stiffened.

"You're..."

She nodded.

"That's right. I am the Alpha's daughter. The sickly one who never gets out of her room. I'm sure you've heard about me."

Now that she mentioned it, she did look sickly. Her skin was as pale as snow, and her dark circles were extremely visible. Her long blonde hair was pulled back in a low bun, and she was wearing a loose lilac ankle-length dress with no sleeves.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, and she blinked at me, a blank look on her face.

"Do you want to survive?" She asked. Right then, it hit me. It was her. The feminine voice in my head.

"I do. Can you help me?" I asked, and she beamed at me, her blue eyes lighting up.

"I have an offer for you," she said, and I frowned.

"Why did you decide to help me?"

She scoffed at me in amusement.

"Is that important right now? I know that my brother is a jerk. To be honest, I don't believe him. I have a feeling you're only a victim. But this is the only way I can help you," she said.

"What way?"

"Replace me in an arranged marriage to a Lycan," she said, and my eyes widened.

"That's not...no..."

She sighed.

"Look, you can cover your face before and after the ceremony. After that, you can escape and settle wherever you want to. In return, I'll provide you with enough money to last for a lifetime. I'll also make sure you escape this place flawlessly," she explained.

I stared at her, my mind reeling.

"What if something goes wrong?" I asked.

"Let's try not to think about that. You want to live, don't you? It's a big risk, but if it works well, you're going to be free for the rest of your life," Lily said.

"What about you?"

She winked at me, turning away from my cell.

"Isn't it obvious? I plan to run away. My father is going to be disappointed. But I don't care. Not anymore," she said.

"Why me?"

"You said you wanted to live. I'll give you some time to think."

I watched her walk away, my mouth going dry.

Was it really okay to grab such an opportunity?

While I thought about this, I fell asleep. My slumber was plagued by dreams of death.

...

The sound of a soothing, deep voice awakened me from my slumber. Sitting up, I listened for the footsteps heading towards my cell.

"You didn't have to bring me here," the voice continued.

"I wanted you to pick from them. There are six of them," I heard Alpha Declan say.

Puzzled, I leaned forward to take a peek at the visitor. My eyes widened when I saw him. The Lycan from that night.

Hurriedly, I retreated inside my cell, lowering my head to prevent him from recognizing me.

When both men halted in front of my cell, I went still.

"Who is she?" The Lycan asked, his deep voice tinged with curiosity. I lowered my head further, hiding my face behind the curtain of my hair.

"She's not worth your attention, your majesty," Alpha Declan responded with a chuckle.

'Your majesty?'

As in 'The Lycan King?'

What the hell is he doing here?

No, wait.

Does that mean I slept with the Lycan king?

I clenched my fists, curling in on myself.

"There's something about her...I can't exactly put my finger on it. Her scent is familiar as well," the Lycan continued, and my heart sank.

Wait, scent?

'I never had a scent. How then could he smell me?' I thought.

Surely, he doesn't remember me as the woman who spiked his drink and slept with him, right?

"She's a traitor of the pack. She's due for punishment in two days," Alpha Declan spoke, his voice laced with pure venom.

I swallowed hard, a lump forming in my throat. I was yet to come to terms with the fact that I might die in two days.

"A traitor? That's interesting. What's her name?" the Lycan asked.

"Sienna West. Has she perhaps caught your interest? I can send her with you as your slave. You don't have to buy her."

I hated this situation. The last thing I wanted was for him to know more about me.

"Sienna West, do you want me to get you out of there?"

I froze when the Lycan spoke again.

Did he mean it?

Would he set me free if I asked?

I frowned, weighing my options. This man had nothing to gain by freeing me. So why would he?

"Won't you give me an answer?" He probed.

"What she wants isn't important. You can just take her. If you don't like that, you can buy her," Alpha Declan said, and nausea swept through me.

I'd been sold once before. I didn't want to go through that again.

"What do you say, Sienna? Do you want me to buy you?"

Angry tears filled my eyes, my frustration growing. A minute went by. Then, two.

"I'll take your silence to mean that you don't want my involvement. Good luck to you, Miss Sienna," He said, and walked away.

When they were both gone, regret set in. I could have just asked for the Lycan king's help. Even so, he was the Lycan king. He was the king of the people who had killed my father. Why would I ask him for his help?

A few hours later, hunger hit me. My stomach hurt, and I couldn't stop shaking.

At this point, I was afraid that I was going to die of hunger.

"Are you ready to make your decision now?" A familiar voice spoke, and I looked up to see Lily. She had a smile on her face as she twirled her hair around her finger.

I was going to die if I didn't do something. So, I made up my mind.

I could easily escape after the marriage. All I needed to do was cover my face until after the wedding.

With the thought of freedom, I grabbed the iron gate and gazed up at her.

"Yes. I accept your offer."

A smirk curled her lips as she leaned forward to stare at me.

"Good. First, let's change your name. You should choose a new name for yourself," she said.

I didn't ponder hard on it. I knew what I wanted. I've always wanted to be free. Free from the captivity my mother had sold me to. Free like a bird.

"Raven. My name is Raven."

"Alright, Raven. Do something about that mark on your neck, will you? You don't want your temporary husband to think that you're already mated, do you?" Lily drawled, and I went pale.

"By the way, if you try to escape without holding your end of the bargain, you will die," she stated, her eyes turning cold.

RAVENThe chains on my ankles and wrists were ridiculously heavy. But most of all, they'd been doused with wolfsbane. It didn't help that I could already feel its effects. Nothing made any sense to me. Aries had betrayed me, but why? If he'd rescued me only to toss me back to King Hades, why would he rescue me in the first place?"Selene."I looked up at the sound of a deep voice. A tall, handsome man stood in front of my cell. He looked disappointed. He seemed vaguely familiar to me, and he had an aura that screamed power and royalty. Was this him?The man I'd dumped over Lord Aries, the sly bastard?Gods, what was I thinking? It was true that Lord Aries was stunning. Plus, he'd appeared rough around the edges. But this man standing before me was also a sight to behold. His long hair was pulled away from his face in a neat bun, and his dark clothes were immaculately fitting."It brings me no joy to see you like this, you know? If Aries hadn't told me that he'd caught you red-handed,

RAVEN“Selene?"Selene? Was that my name?My eyes snapped open, and I found myself sitting before an ornate mirror framed in gold, the polished glass reflecting a woman I barely recognized.I was dressed in a deep red ceremonial gown embroidered with golden thread, the fabric pooling around me like a sea of molten rubies. My skin shimmered under the dim candlelight, adorned with delicate gold chains draping across my wrists and collarbones. The weight of the jewellery felt unnatural, foreign—like shackles rather than ornaments.Somewhere beyond the heavy velvet curtains, the faint notes of a lute and a melancholic flute drifted in from the courtyard."Are you alright, Selene?" a feminine voice said from behind me, and I turned to see the petite young woman who stood behind me with a smile on her face.I didn't know who she was, but there was something about her that felt familiar and important—My train of thoughts came to a halt.I was forgetting something important. Something wasn't

ARIES Raven. Her name lingered at the tip of my tongue as I watched her. A part of me couldn't believe it. She was real. And most of all, she was alive. I'd sensed that she had told the truth about her amnesia, but she seemed to be hiding something. And whatever it was, it was somehow linked with the visitor at the door.“Hide, you idiot!" She snapped, and I cocked a brow at her, amused.“Why should I?" I teased, and her eyes darkened. Grabbing my arm, her fierce electric blue eyes met mine, and she angrily muttered a spell under her breath. My eyes widened when a strange warmth coursed through my body almost immediately. My knees weakened, and before I could process what was happening, I'd slumped forward. She caught me before I could hit the ground. Then she lowered me gently. I parted my lips to say something but found that I was unable to utter a word.Wide-eyed, I watched her as she headed to the door in a rush, still surprised by the fact that she knew spells now.“

Two Years Later,RAVEN The cold winter air hit me the instant I stepped out of my house. Snow had fallen overnight, leaving everything buried in white. I took a deep breath, ready to move—then froze. There was blood on the snow.A trail of blood led towards the corner of my house. My stomach clenched hard. For a long moment, I stood there, my pulse racing. Checking it out was a terrible idea. I knew this. Even so, I moved.Gripping my umbrella like a weapon, I followed the trail, each step quicker than the last. When I reached the backyard, my breath caught in my throat.I was greeted by the sight of a man huddled against the back door, unconscious. Snow clung to his silver jaw length hair and his black clothes were torn in multiple places. Blood soaked the fabric, seeping into the snow beneath him.Cautiously, I drew closer to him and dropped to my knees in front of him, my healer instincts kicking in. The metallic smell of blood lingered strongly on him and as I examined hi

  • The Lycan King's Accidental Bride    32: AN IMPENDING DISASTER

ARIES Several minutes earlier, I gazed at my sleeping wife in silence, a heavy weight on my chest. Although I’d tried to alleviate her anxiety, my mental state was an absolute mess. I couldn’t stop thinking of the flashes of memories that had filled my head a few days before. Raven stirred, and I stroked her hair, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. I wanted to protect her. I was also selfish enough to want her all to myself. But what if my fate stands in the way? Letting out a sigh, I carefully got out of bed, making sure not to awaken my mate. Riddled by my heavy thoughts, I left the room and headed to my study. I’d just settled down on my seat when I sensed a familiar presence by the door. “Show yourself,” I ordered brusquely, and the door creaked open. Lily stood by the door with a timid expression on her face. Something was off about her, though. It seemed as if she was fighting with herself. “What brings you here?” I asked, watching her closely. • The Lycan King's Accidental Bride    31: A HAUNTING RED

RAVEN It felt like something out of a nightmare. I wanted to believe that what I'd just heard and seen wasn't real. But, I was also painfully aware of the fact that I would only be lying to myself. "Why did you do that?" I asked when I finally found my voice. She chuckled, clearly amused by my question. "If you're talking about why I tried to attack the Lycan king, then I must tell you this. I hate him. Deep down you hate him too, don't you?" She said, and I brought my hands to my face, tears clouding my vision. "I don't understand. Why...why are you here? Why are you trying to take over my body?" I said, my voice trembling. "Don't you get it? I am you, and you are me. That monster is destined to die by our hands," she replied. I shook my head in disbelief, nausea creeping into me. "Why do you hate him so much? Isn't it enough that you cursed him?" I croaked, and her eyes darkened, her face contorted in rage. "He killed my people. He led them to their death! He has to suf
