FIVE SECONDS.

That was how long it took me to realize that the terrorizing scream was coming from me.

That five seconds was also how long it took me to realize that my life would literally never remain the same, ever again.

"Damn Aurora! Stop screaming." Cage- my fiance said, scrambling off the bed and covering his nakedness with the red duvet, which I washed myself a few days ago.

Stop screaming?

Is he out of his mind?

The screaming indeed stopped and he at least had the decency to look embarrassed.

The woman he was doing “doggy” style, was on her feet, her eyes frantically searching for an escape.

Oh no, Sweetheart.

There's no escape from this one.

Cage picked up his pants from the floor, and started putting them on hurriedly, carefully avoiding my gaze.

"Just relax please..." He whispered to me through our mate bond and I reared back furious.

"Excuse me?" How could he possibly ask me to relax?

How could he?

When I just walked in on him fucking another woman three days before our wedding.

I closed the door behind me and walked further into the room, trying my best to distract my mind from the gnawing pain in my heart.

Cage finished with his pants and sat up straight, squaring his shoulders and not even looking remorseful.

Embarrassed...yes.

But not guilty.

My head swirled and I felt dizzy. The girl beside him was vaguely familiar but I couldn't exactly say where I knew her from.

She seemed to be the same age as me, and her dazzling blue eyes held a bit of an apology as she looked at me, her curly black hair framing her flushed face.

Oh God.

My stomach did another flip and I had to sit down on the nearest chair because my knees were suddenly too weak to hold me up.

This...this cannot be happening. Not to me at least.

Cage loves me....I know that. We were supposed to get married in a few days. My wedding gown was packed in a bag in that closet behind him.

He was supposed to officially acknowledge me as his Luna.

"Start talking...." I murmured with a flick of my hand when the silence became too unbearable.

"I didn't mean for you to find out like this..." He said, with an air of authority and arrogance that had me lifting my brow in surprise.

Wait...there's something to find out?

"I didn't mean for you to find out"..means that something bigger is going on.

Means that it was more than just a one time fling.

Means that it has been going on for a long time now.

My heart beat escalated and I could swear that it would jump out of my mouth anytime soon.

"What..." I started, but cleared my throat when my voice came out rougher than intended, "what is there to find out? there should be nothing to find out. There shouldn't be . This is a one time fling and it's perfectly fine.

We all make mistakes and I forgive you."

I was rambling and I couldn't stop it because that was all I could hold onto, and I was holding on to it desperately because this....

It just cannot be.

We are madly in love with each other. We will soon be officially married and what's worse?

I just found out a couple of hours ago that I was pregnant and had come to surprise him with the news.

Oh God!

"It's not a one time fling, Aurora." he murmured, taking the girl's hand.

The tiny hope I was holding onto shattered and I froze in shock.

His words cut into my heart like a sharp edge sword leaving a horrifying pain in its wake.

"What do you mean?" I uttered each word carefully as my gaze zeroed in on the hands they were holding together.

I'm definitely gonna throw up.

"Mara and I have been seeing each other for three months now, and I love her."

I shut my eyes in an attempt to block out the very fresh wave of pain that hit me, but it didn't help.

That wounded me.

"Three months? So when were you planning to tell me? After our wedding?"

He shrugged nonchalantly.

How could he be so unconcerned, as if this was perfectly fine?

"I was going to tell you today that the wedding is off. See Mara and I got married yesterday and I am gonna announce her as my Luna tomorrow."

"No!" The agonized scream tore past my lip before I could stop it.

My vision became blurred as tears pooled in my eyes.

He can't be doing this. He just can't.

"No. No no you can't do that. How could you, Cage? We were supposed to get married. We are mates...I am your mate. I'm supposed to be your Luna. You cannot do this to me "

"You can't tell me what I can or cannot do, Aurora. Do not forget your place Omega." He barked and my mouth hung open.

Omega....

Cage had never ...

"I love Mara. She's the one I'm willing to take in now as my mate and that's simple. You dare not question your Alpha's choices."

That tone...

I shivered as I instantly calmed down…I have heard him use that feral tone countless times but never on me.

Not when we were kids, when I constantly picked on him just to get his attention.

Not when I lost my parents and became isolated.

He had never used a disrespectful tone with me before.

And hearing it now directed at me was a splash of cold water.

"I'm sorry..." I said, my voice dripping cold, "Alpha."

He didn't even blink.

"I didn't want to hurt you Aurora, but Mara," he pointed at the dark-haired girl, who was still gawking at us without a word, "caught my heart and she's everything I need in a Luna. I'm sure you understand."

I understand that you are Grade-A-douchebag.

"I do understand," I said curtly, trying to maintain a calm composure even though my insides were bleeding from the cut of his betrayal.

"Now, considering your social status of course I'm gonna put your interest in mind. You know I've always been protective of you since you were a kid and I won't stop now." By my social status, he meant me being an Omega.

The royal idiot pressed on, not noticing or caring that I was simmering with anger and rage.

"I couldn't just discard you Aurora. That would be cruel and I promised to always stand by you."

Oh the nerve of this guy.

He released Mara's hands and started approaching me slowly, his eyes fixed on me.

I kept my shoulders high- and held my breath hoping that I wasn't quivering.

He stopped just about a couple of inches away from me and I could feel his warm breath on my face.

"So I have a proposition. You are an Omega. If I discard you, no one will want you ever again and honestly I really don't want to let you go." His hands came up and he twirled a strand of my brown hair in his finger.

My ears perked because I really wanted to know what he had to say.

Although I found the situation funny. Sadly funny.

Barely an hour ago I was imagining how he would react when he finds out about my baby.

Imagining what our little family would be like.

Now, he wasn't just shamelessly throwing it in my face that he married , and I'm not fit to be his Luna- no- he was blatantly willing to give me a proposition as a favor to me, because I'm basically a nobody.

Oh I want to know what he has to say.

I willed the tears in my eyes not to fall.

I'd be damned if I wasted my tears for this dimwit.

"You can be my mistress," Cage blurted out and I blinked twice.

I'm sure I didn't hear him correctly.

"What?"

"You can be my mistress. It's perfect and a win-win situation. I know you have always loved me ever since you were young. You can still have me whenever you want and of course. " The corner of lip curled as his fingers brushed my lower lip, "You can still have my babies. You get kids and you get to be with your mate."

I could not believe my ears.

Yes I've loved him.

Even before I knew what love was.

But have I been that pathetic?

Have I really been so blinded by love for him that I've acted like I'd be okay with this?

Maybe I have.

Mortification mixed with the anger and pain boiling inside me and my knees buckled.

I inhaled sharply, meeting his gaze squarely, "What if I don't accept this proposition?"

His smile faltered.

"Aurora," he laughed, "I know you are smart, come on. You have nothing and no one besides me. You wouldn’t dare say no… right?"

"What if I don't accept this proposition?" I ask again, taking a step away from him.

His smile completely vanished and his blue eyes turned darker, rage etched in them.

"Then you leave me no choice. I am going to reject and banish you entirely from the pack."

His voice was laced with anger and a little hint of mockery as if he was "daring" me.

As if he wanted to scare me into a corner with the threat.

"Well let's get on with it then." I whispered and smiled sadly, "I would rather be a rogue than lick your demented ass as a mistress.”

And...

All hell was let loose.

I have seen Cage enraged numerous times. He can have a very hot temper- but never for once have I seen as much rage as I saw now in his eyes as he took three-- five steps away from me.

My hands were shaking and heart beating frantically against my chest- but I didn't care.

I was ready for whatever he wanted to dish out.

Am I though?

"Well you made your choice?" He said, his lips curled in s snarl, "I Alpha Cage Delta Russo reject you Omega Sheila Silvermore as my mate."

The pain that cut through my gut was anticipated but still almost knocked me off my feet.

I coughed feeling choked up by the fresh waves of agony, and it took every drop of my strength to not fall on my knees.

I've lost everything.

But I will not lose my dignity dammit!

"I accept your rejection," I whispered and the waves of pain left immediately leaving a blank hole in its wake.

I staggered back forcing air into my lungs.

I have to remain strong because I knew that what came next would be worse.

I have to remain strong for my unborn baby.

The next few minutes were a blur to me. One moment Cage was dragging me out of the house, publicly banishing me, then sending hounds after me to chase me out of the pack and the next moment I was turning into my wolf so I could outrun the five merciless hounds behind me.

And I barely did.

But I kept pushing my paws pounding on the floor as I pivoted towards the bush trying to shake off the blurriness.

I just had to get past the border- I just have to get past the border, that's all and I'll be fine.

It is..for my baby...It is for my baby.

Just when I could see the border seconds before I crossed it, one of the hounds caught up on me and it's claws duh into my shoulders.

I sidestepped it and kept running even when I could feel the searing pain in my hand.

And finally....I didn't stop running until I jumped past the fallen oak tree that was the border.

And the moment I stopped everything from the past few hours- the pain, the anger, the agony and the stress slammed into me all at once.

I barely changed into my human form again before my knees gave out on me and everything turned black.
