The human civilization collapsed as a powerful Badblood, the Inkur, unleashed the Reapers into the land. Reapers are creatures from the abyss and they fed on human soul and flesh. Those who survived creates a village and built walls to keep them safe from the Reapers. Badbloods were killed or casted out from the villages as people fear them. Serra, a young girl in their village was casted out and was accused as a Badblood, but she don't know if she is and she don't know her power. She is forced to walk in the lands with Reapers lurking in the shadows. She will then discover that the Reapers aren't the only the one to fear outside the gates.

Foreword

About a hundred years ago, people in the land lived in peace and harmony. There are people with superhuman abilities and they call them Badbloods. They can harness the power of nature, they can make the plants grow in their will, some can transform into an animal, and some can see the future. Powers that no one knows where it come from as it wasn't hereditary. It was like a gift given to random people.

Inkurs are the most powerful Badbloods. They are very rare for they draw their power from the Ether or the Abyss, the realms of heaven and hell.

There was an Inkur couple, Sharih who wields the power of death (Abyssal Inkur) and Caro who was gifted with the power of life (Ethereal Inkur). They travel from places to places to help the people. Caro's touch can save lives and cure any diseases. Sharih guides lost souls and she help them to their final destination, leading them to the judgment.

Then people got mad of Caro's power. They want him to bring to life their dead loved ones. A man kidnapped Caro, imprisoned him in a cell, pleading to bring back his dead wife. Caro refused so the man killed him. Sharih was furios on what happened to her husband. She creates a portal and unleashed the Reapers into the land. They kill and devour everyone.

The humanity barely survived. Those who did, creates villages and built walls to keep them safe from the Reapers. Since then, the people blamed the Badbloods for what happened. Badbloods were killed and casted out from the villages.

They were a disease to humanity, an evil race of people.

1.1 Badblood
The world was fucked up and so was Serra. The sun was up in the sky, giving light to the world. She's getting late. Serra woke up on her mother's voice calling her name. She bolt upright, her eyes still closed. She have dark circles under her eyes since she did not have enough sleep that night, her mind wandering somewhere. She yawned and opens her eyes, blinking, filling her eyes with the sight of her room: the low ceiling with cobwebs full of dust and dirt, her little closet on the right, her bed where the blanket fallen on the floor and a little chair full of stuffs on the left. She picked up the blanket and fixed her bed. Then she wanders out of her room. She found Maria on their kitchen - which is just outside her room - smiling with a cup of steaming liquid on her hand that gives off a refreshing and delicious smell into the air. They laughed.They reached the river and they sat on the river bank where a big tree stood beside them, its shadow covering the two of them from the sun. The wind now colder mixed with the misty scent of the river. The water below them calm and clear, the fishes swam in freedom.The river is not that deep, they used to swim and play on it together with Haris. But as they grow up and loads of chores were slowly added on their backs, they stopped doing it anymore. 2.1 Bright lights
"Mira" she whispered.She stood there looking at her friend, stunned. Mira's eyes were pleading. She's confused and afraid. She was shaking and the grasses below her withered as if like feeling her pain. She's crying now, the pain and anger in her face was gone replaced with fear.Serra convinced herself that it wasn't Mira's doing, but no one is around them, just the two of them in that lonely part of their village. 2.2 Bright lights
Serra sat on dark corner of the guardhouse, her knees on her chest and she buried her face between them as she cried. The guardhouse is where they put someone who has committed crime in the village. The guardhouse was quite big, but not as big as the storage houses. There's nothing on the inside of the house, just the four corners of the room and on the floor were stem and scrapes of wheat that forms like a bed on the ground. The house was dark but there's a hole on the upper side of the wall where streaks of light pass through it, illuminating the room. The patrols bring her there after Mira left. Maria was preparing their dinner, sautéed potatoes and carrots - again. The sound of the oil as it sizzles in the hot pan sounds pleasing and soothing to Serra's ears. It was like music. The smell of carrots and potatoes dances in the air inside the cabin. Serra was used to that smell as she grows up eating it. She was feet away from her mother, washing the dishes.The sky was now dark and a crescent moon in a perfect sickle shape, shone brightly above, giving light to the world. Questions boiled up inside Serra's mind making her head felt like cracked in pain. Why did the Reapers run? Are they afraid of the light? Of Maria's power? She dashed toward her mother. Her heart heavy as her feet. But she was only a few steps when she heard a buzzing sound past her ear. She stopped and saw an arrow landed just beside her. Serra flinched as she saw the Reaper below. It's tail wiggled on its back, its bone-like fingers extends to razor sharp claws, and the shadows that comes out of it's body sent shivers to Serra's spine, making her tremble.The monster was right below her, on the tree where she was.
