10: Life Lesson

Nola just stood there, staring at the massive building. For some reason, she thought the top reached the clouds. She was standing at the front door long enough for her brother to catch up to her.

“You know we're grounded, don't you,” he said, tired. His sister turned to him and saw him bending forward with his hand on his knees and gasping for air.

“Well, it will be worth it because mom's new husband is in this house right now.” She spoke while keeping her eyes on the massive doors. This house was even bigger than Grandma Deborah’s.

“And how'd you know that?” Nate questioned. He thought his sister was weird sometimes.

“I don’t know, Nate. A woman just knows these things sometimes,” Nola let out.

“Whatever, let's just get this over with and done,” Nathan rolled his eyes.
